Best book in Shadows Landing!!! The whole Mueez family was here and I was swooning. Edie was a sweetheart and Tristan was a dream with his arrogance.....but even I was laughing , along with Abby, when he said he was supposed to torture and kidnap AHMED 's fucking daughter😂😂. She could kill him with her pinky lol. Loved this one. 💓
I have completely run out of ways to describe your works! Stellar, as usual, fun, unexpected, chaos, and so on, and so on, etc. I want to find Keeneston,Ky, and ride to Charleston so I can go and find Shadow's Landing. For years, yep years, I have fallen in love with you decritptive works, all across the board. But, frankly,I adore Keeneston and Shadow's Landing! It's a small drive for me to Charleston, but alas, Shadow's Landing exists for you and those reading, same with Keeneston. It is a testament to your writing that makes one want to explore these places in person!
I have no more words! Soooooo lol ... NEXT ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall Amanda rating: A+ I think that this trip back to Shadows landing was absolutely perfect. I look forward to every book from Kathleen Brooks, which was no different. I think that I have been waiting for Edie to find happiness for such a long time! Edie has almost became a shell of the woman that she once was after the passing of her husband. She still functionwed, went out with hr friends, even loved her friends, she just was still afraid of reclaiming her life and her happiness. I am not going to sit her and say thay after 4 years of life passing after my love was taken from me I wouldn't be missing the "connection" that can come from a fling. I think that the only area of this book that I found hard to believe was her desire for no strings, no love, no future, just a one time chance meeting. Her chance meeting with the man tasked to killing her and her friends falling for her so quickly was written well in true Kathleen style. The pie photo was probably one of the favorite scenes for comic relief. I liked that the rest of prior characters were a huge part of this book, It is nice to not just see their name mentioned, but their characters still have enough of a part so that we don't forget who they are. Overall this was a great read. I cannot wait for my next trip to Shadows Landing or Keeneston.
Shadows Landing gains a new person. Tristan Durand, an assassin for the country of Milevia, falls for Edie Greene-Wecker, a widow of a military man killed in the line of duty. Edie decided it is time to start living again. Prior to her European trip with her brother and friends from Keeneston, Edie pays a visit to talk to her dearly departed husband to ask for a sign that it is okay for her to move on from her grieving and live again. In that part of the story alone, the feels start. Tears, laughter, action, and everything in between commences as the story builds to a happily ever after worthy to read again and again.
This installment of the Shadows Landing series showcases characters from Ms. Brooks other series in the Bluegrass line. While thoroughly enjoyable as a standalone book, you will have even more enjoyment if you read all the other books from this author since there will be crossovers and connections of characters, giving the reader the feel of growth of characters and the fictional places you will really wish existed. You will laugh, cry, be on the edge of your metaphorical seat, and swoon. A perfect escape is guaranteed in every book written by Kathleen Brooks.
Your series are so enjoyable. Ever since reading the first book in the Bluegrass series and then the Shadows series and all the others, I feel like I want to drive out of Lexington and find Keeneston and visit with everyone as they all seem like my best friends while I enjoy some home made apple pie and good Southern cooking at the diner. After that I want to head out to Shadows Landing to meet up with my other best friends and enjoy some good BBQ and more apple pie. The characters in these series are so full of life and love and while I may not know any Special Forces personnel, FBI, billionaires or Kings in real life I feel like I know all of these people and so thoroughly enjoy their tales of adventure and romance. Their family and friendship ties are the strongest around. Looking forward to the next stories! Can't wait to see what is in store for all of them!! Thank you, Kathleen Brooks for making me laugh out loud, crying real tears and generally enriching my life with your books!
Fading Shadows is the eighth book in the Shadows Landing series by Kathleen Brooks. Shadows Landing Series combines small-town charm, suspense, and a dash of romance. This is a contemporary romance series with a small-town setting, some romantic suspense elements, a little drama, intrigue, tension, mystery, humour, and adventure. After reading Ms. Brooks ‘Bluegrass’ series, and not being as ‘blown away’ by them as I had expected and hoped, I wasn’t sure if I would take the plunge into this series or not. But as they were sitting on my TBR already, and also wanting to clear my TBR list, I decide to just dive in and get them done. I have to admit that, thankfully, I did ‘enjoy’ this series a bit more than the Bluegrass books.
Edie is smart, funny, and fiercely devoted to her family and friends. I've been waiting to read her story, and baby, does her story give me all the feels. It is an action-packed, emotionally filled adventure you will love.
Edie is finally finding herself. She's ready to give love a chance. Tristan is the only guy she's been attracted to in a long time. She gives in to her desires and has an incredible one-night stand with him. She's amazed by the connection she has with Tristan.
Tristan knows he should stay away from Edie, but he can't help himself. He needs to get to know her more and protect her. I love how attentive and open Tristan is with Edie and her loved ones. He is calm under pressure and a great addition to Shadows Landing.
I love this fantastic series. I know I will laugh with the unforgettable wild characters, fun-loving people who only want the best for their loved ones and town. I can't wait for the next book.
What a great story. You got to see Edie slowly work her way back into the living after mourning her husband for so long. It was great to see her embrace having fun and finding new love. We also got see her be spunky, sexy, and down right funny. Who knew all of that laid beneath the surface.
Tris was the best guy for Edie. He was strong and had tremendous understanding for what Edie has endured, but he also saw who she really was besides being a widow and that was who he was able to connect with and coax to the forefront. He was not threatened by her memories, but embraced her future.
Kathleen weaved a tale full of danger, conflict, laughter, knitting clubs, alligator surfing, assassins, threatening cousins, old friends, and new friends. We got a chance to see a lot of our Keeneston crew and always, we got our HEA.
Kathleen has written another great story! I’ve read every single one of her books, I’m a huge fan!! Edie was broken when her husband was killed serving his country. She moved back to shadow’s landing where she lived before marrying Shane. Shane was her older bring her Walkers best friend. Years Edie was broken and no one had been able to Help her. She has a great group of friends and family who have supported her from day one. Her brother Walker invited Edie on a trip of a life time, she accepted and decided it was time to live again. She never imagined that she would meet anyone. Edie had no idea she would meet while eating ice cream with her niece would bring happiness into her life, even if it was only for a night! Read and see how shadow’s Landing and A small town in Kentucky take down a dictator! I can not wait til the next book!
4.5*s This books starts our really sad when Edie visits her husband's grave to ask him if she should move on? So emotional but that is just the beginning before the adventure starts.
Just love it and the related series. Quirky town folk are sometimes too out there but overall it does add some humor. The hero's are always interesting guys, this one Tristen is an assassin who realizes he is being set up by the President (dictator) of his small country. He meets Edie a widow whose husband was killed in action 3 yrs ago. They make a connection and he makes sure her friend is not killed then flees to USA.
Also listened this on audible but there is no option on Goodreads for this edition. Series Book 8, Shadows Landing Release date 04-25-22 Format Unabridged Audiobook Narrated by Eric G. Dove Length 6 hrs and 54 mins Publisher Laurens Publishing
Another fantastic book by this author. I swear every book gets better and better. I don't know how she remembers everyone and who is with everyone and where they belong but she does. I love Edie and Tristen together and of course seeing all the others throughout the book was a bonus! Edie lost a lot and it took her a long time to be ready to try again. Tristen had no intention of love and the life it brings but the universe had other plans. I loved how the author brought in the signs for Edie and didn't just forget about Shane. I especially loved how Tristen went to visit Shane. There were times I was holding my breath and other times I was laughing out loud. This author does a great job balancing both. Now bring on Granger and Olivia!
I’ve read the whole series. I admittedly drug my feet on purchasing this one and Kord’s book, but in the end I got both. And truthfully the fault is my own bc I don’t know why I expected less from the book about a KIA navy seal and character who has already proven herself formidable in the other books of this series. Other than the amazing stories and action and romance, HANDS. DOWN my favorite thing about this series and Kathleen’s writing et al is the women. Some of if not my favorite female characters I’ve ever read. Positive girl boss goals.
I love the unique kind of crazy you find in Shadows Landing, but I love, love, LOVE that in this book Edie finally gets a second love. When we first met her she was drowning in grief after being widowed and as the series has progressed she has clawed her way back to the living. Meeting Tristan lights a fire in her soul and we get to see a new fun, flirty Edie who is willing to pick up her cutlass and fight for her man....Shadows Landing style! Fantastic!
When I read the first book in this series I didn't know I had run to a world of intrigue, ghostly pirates, knights in tarnished armor and women strong enough to stand with their alpha males. And run I do every time a new story is available! I love the way each character is developed and opened up so you know them like a close friend. I love the setting and the way everyone pulls together, except Sunday after church when it's every person for themselves! What an imagination Kathleen Brooks has and how glad I am I found this series and can escape where you're just as easily rescued from a gator as a bullet. LOL fun, hold back tears emotions and page-turning intrigue!
I love Shadow Landing, their pirate town history. Edie lost her husband, who was killed by a traitor during war. It’s been three years and she is tired of grieving and everyone looking at her like poor Edie. She goes on vacation with her brother and his wife in Europe and she meets Tristian. Unbeknown to her he is an assassin, for his government. He also has an assignment to kill an innocent American but he refuses to do so, leading to a whole lot of things. If you like KB’s books this one will be no different, humor, exciting, drama and romance.
Once again, Kathleen Brooks has produced an addition to her fictional world that I had to read in one sitting. I lost track of the amount of bursts of laughter that erupted from me. One particular scene of a video call that included Ahmed with Nemi strapped to his chest had me laughing so hard that a coughing fit ensued! Ms. Brooks is also adept at eliciting tears without warning. Her world is so intricate and welcoming, and it pulls you in immediately. Love the strength of her female characters! Excited for Granger's story next!
I love how Kathleen brings all these different countries and traditions into the fold in her books. She has this way of making you feel like you are part of the discoveries. Even after all these years of reading her books, there are no bad books. She is always fresh with her stories and the intertwined families to remind you of the others and how they are growing even after their stories have ended. I will always love to read any of her books. I am a lifetime fan.
I enjoyed returning to Shadows Landing. All of the characters there are quirky and entertaining. I love the way the pull together to combat any crisis.
I was glad to see Edie rediscover and embrace the fire in her personality. I liked Edie and Tristan together. I felt their chemistry shouldered and then burst into a flame. I also felt like I got more of the people in Shadows Landing in this book than Tristan's character. It was almost like he became a secondary character in his story with Edie.
The narration was on point as usual. I am looking forward to Olivia and Granger's story.
Edie and Tristan Is what you love really as!It's having each others back no matter what! When he is given An order to take somebody out the assassin finds his true love expiration point and as she's rising out of heartbreak She finds love her second time.Come back to Shadows landing in all of the friends from Kensington will be there! You won't want to miss what the uncles and some of the aunt's do!
What do you do when you one night European fling follows you home? You fall in love. But will Edie be able to trust Tristan when she finds out he is an assassin ? Can Edie find love again with Tristan or will Walker, the Shadows Landing and Keenston crews run him off? Will Tristan and Edie find their happily ever after? Join the town of Shadows Landing and catch up on this wonderfully quirky town as Tristan and Edie work to find their own happiness.
Absolutely fell in love with Tristan! Edie deserved this story. She has always been in the background and her story really made my day. I loved the way the net in the courtyard with gelato! I loved the way the whole town comes together to help and I love the fact that these men find and love these strong women. I can never get enough of these stories! I absolutely cannot wait for Granger and Olivia!
Although it is getting harder to keep all the characters straight, especially their relationship to each other, the story was captivating. The one downside is: the way over the top protection the men want to demonstrate regarding the females in the romance category. All of the ladies in every book can definitely take care of themselves. I am looking forward to Olivia's story, but not the same ol', same old' thing from the brothers. Too tedious.
Love this series. The characters and stories will make you laugh and cry. Each story continues to get better and better and I never want this to end. It a series that will cheer you up and make you smile when you have a bad day. Watching characters you have grown to love fall in love and get their happily ever afters. Of course there is the excitement and drama with each, but it’s so worth the read.
Tristen truly was an asset. Not only did he protect or Edie but he respected her and allowed her to fly. That was the most beautiful thing in the world to me. He saw her for who she was and accepted it. Just as she accepted him after stepping away and thinking about what her heart wanted and how to secure it. I loved all the missions in this book, most of all I love the pairing of forces. Walker, Tristan, and Granger…pure demon time sexiness.
I wondered who would be Edie's match. Tristan was a wonderful addition to the storyline and so fun to see that he would need to pass the tests by her friends and family (the town of Shadows Landing). I certainly have to go find the stories about the Kentucky branch of the family. They have been a delightful addition to the stories and this one could not have been written or told without them. Can't wait for the next story about two of my favorite characters Olivia and Granger.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!! Fading Shadows offers a whirlwind romance that spans continents. Edie Wecker, a widow rebuilding her life, meets Tristan Durand, a secretive European operative. Their connection is immediate, but the dangers surrounding Tristan’s work put them both at risk. The international intrigue adds an exciting new element to the series, and Edie’s journey of healing makes the romance even more poignant. Fast-paced, romantic, and full of suspense—this one is a winner.
The latest Shadows Landing novel is a fast paced love story between a unassuming widow and a assassin. An unlikely combination, but it works. Kept me hooked from start to finish. However be warned. It's remarkable what sweet little old ladies can get an unsuspecting male to do....
A great story about our friends from Shadows Landing this is Edie’s story you will laugh, cry, and still be trying to find out who is the bad guy. You don’t want to miss this one. Edie is finding her way out of the grief she’s had for her lost husband. It’s time for Edie to get the happily ever after she deserves.
I have all of MS Brooks books and she never failed me in delivering outstanding stories that i can climb into and enjoy. This book has so much humor, love and life. I do not have the ability to adequately describe wonderful they are to me. If only the two towns were real.
