Cynthia “C” Moore has a regular life. Well, as regular of a life as a psychic can have.
She spends her days sleuthing the internet for people who need life lessons, or a good smack upside the head. Her roommate and best friend is a ghost and her mom is a toxic liar.
Her regular psychic life explodes when her mother swings by and drops a bomb of epic proportions. Suddenly, C has to find answers to questions she never even knew she had. Is she psychic or is she something more? Is her roommate just a ghost as he says, or is he a liar too? And who is the strange man with purple eyes who seems to be everywhere she looks?
Obviously this book is going to be a series. The entire first book was just laying a foundation for the protaganist. Well I enjoyed the story, I wish that it had given me a little bit more to go on. I know there has to be more to it than just training.
Disclaimer: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book was such a mixed bag for me. I absolutely loved the concept. The worldbuilding was really cool. I could visualize the place in my head, and there was so much there. It wasn't explored enough in my opinion. If more time would have been spent out at the world at large, this would have been a much higher rated book for me.
These characters were pretty two dimensional, and I was not invested in anyone. Their dialogue was really awkward and rather unbelievable. Combine that along with some really repetitive sections, and it made for some less than pleasurable reading.
Spending so much time on awkward interpersonal feelings and relationships was the wrong move. This world deserved to be explored more, and I am really sad that I never got to read about it.
What an amazing book! I just finished reading and had to leave a review for it! I really loved how ‘C’ was written. The author captured her emotions and humour with people so well and made her very relatable as a character and all the struggles and changes she has to undergo as a young adult. this book was such a wild ride but a nice read, whenever id pick it up Id be so immersed in the story I had no idea how much time had passed! I thought I was so sure on how it was going to end and then was thrown in a new exciting direction! I really hope theres going to be a second book in the works I’m so invested in the characters now! Excellent work!
I loved the story and would love to find out more about what happens with C (Thea). I'm hoping for a second book at the least, I need to know more! The cliffhanger is rough! The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was because of the poor editing. There were misspellings, wrong words at certain points, etc. Having to figure out what the author was trying to say because the wrong words were used/spelt incorrectly really hinders the reading experience.
I enjoyed the book and the story but I honestly feel just as confused as poor Cynthia. What really got on my nerves was making this big, honestly cringey dialogue about Dayton being enby and using they/them and then multiple times referring to them as he. Like that alone brought this down from a 4 to a 3 based on principle. I need a sequel I have questions
This story dove more into the realm of fantasy than I typically go for, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Also, the mixture of fantastical elements really made for an exciting read.
I loved the author’s voice and how the main character, C, was portrayed. She felt fun and relatable-someone I could see myself being friends with.
This book did a thorough job of providing necessary information and setting the scene, and it also focused heavily on character development. While it’s easy for this type of content to become dry and boring, the author was still able to keep me engaged all the way through.
Going into this, I wasn’t aware that this was the first book in a series. Having now realized that though, I’m honestly really glad there’s more. I will definitely be checking out the next book.
