This is one of those Christianity-is-the-ONLY-way type of religious book. If this is what you're looking for, it's great! It's motivating and really upbeat.
For everyone else, I don't recommend. It's pretty close minded. I often found myself asking when this book was written after reading some of these ideals. Seems intentional that religion isn't mentioned in the title (that's a little manipulative if you ask me). Honestly though, the heavy religious overtones make it hard to hear the actual leadership advice.
Examples of the tone of this book:
"So, when you get in the car today, ma’am, look at your husband and say, ‘We’re two of them.’ Or husband, you’re the spiritual leader. Start the conversation by saying to your wife..." (pg. 63)
"I love to teach in Turkey, one of the most unevangelized countries in the Middle East. Did you know that far more people are getting saved in Iran than in Turkey? Although Turkey is westernized, it’s godless. So, what do we do there? We train Iranians." (pg. 72)
"On one visit I gave an invitation after the message, and about twelve Muslims got saved..." (still pg. 72)
"One thing’s for sure: If you regularly leave the office saying, “I didn’t get a cotton- picking thing done,” you need to better identify your priorities and really own your schedule." (pg. 81)
"Last time I checked, my staff works for me. If I instruct them to do something and they don’t want to do it, all I need to do is find somebody else who will accept my authority and leadership." (pg. 87)
I think you get the point.

I ordered and received this book one week before the sexual harassment report came out. Sadly a lot of the principles Dr. Hunt shares in this book he neglected to apply in his life. For example, in his chapter on finishing well, he mentioned that he wanted to finish his life with his testimony intact. On page 177, where he talks about his marriage and contentment. Again, there are other examples. Overall, the book offers good insights into being a leader at a local church. Dr. Hunt draws from his three-plus decades of experience to come up with suggestions for pastors on how to be effective leaders. This book is written for church people and the insights offered by the author are to be applied to a church setting.

The single greatest book on leadership I have ever read! Pastor Johnny has been a godly & effective leader for decades & has consistently helped others reach their leadership potential as well. I can't say enough good about this one!
