OMFG! I was on the edge of my seat the entire book! Ella sure knows how to build you up just to deliver a devastating blow. It's a delicious torture that I will gladly endure. I can't wait for the conclusion! Will Kai and Enzo ever get to be together?!? They better after all they've been through. I am rooting for them!
An advanced copy was provided by the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
Possessed by lies Enzo really messed up with Kai and I empathized with her reactions completely. His betrayal cut into her deep and he was the one who exposed her to Milo. He was the one who failed to protect her. He was the one who allowed her to get hurt again and again. The tables are turned in this book as Kai shut Enzo out of her life. Talk about horrible stupid timing as Enzo decided it was time to risk everything for Kai. What a bonehead! This continued to be a dark and compelling read. Emotional, suspense filled, and heartbreaking. Totally frustrating for an HEA seeker and cliffy hater like myself.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The fifth book in the Truth or Lies series, Possessed by Lies continues Enzo and Kai's story. There's plenty of secrets, lies, betrayal, mystery, suspense, angst, danger, drama, hot steamy scenes, twists, and revenge to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Let me begin by saying that I do enjoy this series. However, it really is a little too long. I guess part of the problem is that every time you think someone is out of the way then someone else shows up. Kai and Enzo have been through so much already. The sad thing is that there is still one book left. Hopefully everything will wrap up nicely.
Enzo And Kai’s Emotionally Riveting Story Continues With Fantastically Angsty Twists And Turns As Readers Root For Their HEA! Felix’s Interference Causes Chaos Within The Black Organization.
This is book five of six in the Truth or Lies series. Each book reads like a roller coaster, with unexpected gut-clenching twists and turns. Enzo and Kai both grew up in a brutal world, but one was raised in luxury and the other in extreme poverty. They have an undeniable connection, but every time they cross paths or begin to drop their defenses, something seems to pull them apart. There are many questions and many lies, but answers do come with patience. The books are best read back to back since the plot is very complex. This review attempts to summarize earlier books as a refresher for readers that didn’t just finish the prior book in the series.
From book one:
The myth that surrounds the Black name in Miami and beyond is legendary, demanding both fear and respect. Mr. Black rules Miami, where he runs Surrender, an invitation only club where deals are made by the high-powered members of the underground that frequent it. Mr. Black also runs many other clubs in Miami, has a fleet of yachts that he deals with, and runs a security firm. The fleet gives him access to the lawless waters of the ocean as well as the world beyond Miami.
Enzo Black, seventeen, grew up in comfort and has more money than he will ever need, but his life has not been easy. As the son of Mr. Black, he has an image to maintain. There is no room for feelings for a killer like him. Trained in the family business, he is expected to one day take over. His second hands are the two best friends he grew up with, Langston and Zeke. Having his trusted friends at his side in a dark world dominated by hardened criminals provides a welcome level of comfort. Langston is more brain, while Zeke is more brawn. Both are loyal. They are his family.
Katherine Miller, sixteen, hasn’t’ been to school in weeks, choosing to work and steal instead to help put food on the table and pay rent for the trailer she shares with her father. First on the list, however, is paying off her father’s debt. Kai’s mother died from cancer when she was small, leaving her father with medical expenses in the millions. The debt collectors have to be paid, and one day Kai will have to pay with her body, but she works and steals to delay that inevitability.
When Enzo and Kai meet by chance, they both feel electrified. Enzo’s feelings come to life despite himself, and Kai has never been so attracted to a boy before. But when they meet again, it is not by chance. Enzo has a job to do, and Kai is his job. He promises to let her leave town, but in a cruel twist of fate Kai is taken and sold to a cruel man named Jarod. Six years later Kai is back and she wants answers, but Enzo doesn’t want to give them. They play a game of Truth or Lies but Kai loses. Instead of getting answers, Enzo now owns her. He keeps her and sees to her health, but his trickery isn’t over. The two play a series of games as a means to get answers that neither willingly wants to share.
Just when Kai begins to recover her strength and the pair begins to bond, her whole world is turned upside down. She learns that becoming the next Mr. Black is earned, and Enzo confesses he didn’t actually earn it because he let her live six year ago. The next Mr. Black will earn his or her place according to the rules set forth by the last two to compete for the title: their fathers. The Rinaldi and Miller families have competed for the title for generations. As only children, Enzo and Kai must compete since it is now known that she is not dead. There will be five competitions, each with a clear winner. Three out of five wins the title. It is a dangerous game, meant to flush out the weakest and leave the strongest to run the empire until the next generation of Rinaldis and Millers comes along.
From book two:
Enzo, twenty-four, and Kai, twenty-three, must run Mr. Black’s empire together until a winner is determined. Enzo has run it as Mr. Black for three years already, and though Kai has great street smarts and is quite capable of standing up for herself, she lacks experience as a leader. When things get personal, the two clash professionally. Kai uses her equal footing with Enzo to hurt him, but it comes with a price. When the first round of the game begins, they had reached a tentative peace, but winning comes at a price as well, as Kai learns.
Heartbroken by Kai's betrayal, as evidenced by the rumors that damage his reputation in the underworld, and not denied by Kai herself later, Enzo loses his careful composure and does the unthinkable. He arranges to sell her to Milo Wallace. Another round of Truths, though, has him and Kai both spiraling out of control and the entire team scrambling. Kai had only been in hiding to heal from the beating she got from Milo when she secured his ring in the game, and Enzo admits it had been her father, not him, that sold her years ago.
From book three:
An alliance is formed with Rowan Evan who rescues Kai from Milo Wallace, but a war is simmering. Enzo, Kai, Langston and Zeke board the Savage and head out to sea to keep their whereabouts unknown and to buy time. Liesel Dunn, Enzo’s friend from his teen years, is forced to join them due to her role in the first game - as Enzo's date. Liesel makes no secret of her feelings for Enzo, and he doesn't do quite enough to discourage her. He still considers Liesel his “everything." Her history with Enzo presents both a challenge and an opportunity for Kai.
The truths unveiled before departure leave Kai and Enzo damaged. Kai deals with the fact that both her father and Enzo sold her as well as the many lies she grew up with. Enzo struggles with his guilt and his determination to make things right with Kai. He grows emotionally during this time. He wavers between needing Kai forever and sending her away from Black for her own good at the first opportunity. A second game takes place aboard ship, but Zeke and Liesel get pulled into it. Kai’s relationship with Zeke is strengthened as a result, but Enzo damages his with Liesel, whom he no longer considers his everything. Enzo wins, tying the game. The war must take place before they can all return home. Blood spills in this heartbreaking battle. Zeke is shot protecting Kai, then his body washes overboard in a storm. Milo escapes so the battle must continue another day, but Black isn’t prepared to face off and win against the enemies Milo organized. Enzo and Kai both make foolish and out of character choices in their attempts to make a deal with Milo, which conveniently lead to another cliffhanger as readers wait to see who Milo chooses to take captive.
From book four:
Enzo willingly surrenders to Milo; he is ready to win the title and hand the empire, and his life, over to Milo in exchange for a promise to leave Kai alone. Kai and Langston are devastated, but Liesel shows up to motivate them. At Surrender, Kai discovers Enzo has been quietly saving women from trafficking in addition to running the underworld, cementing her belief that she must take his place. The third brutal game brings them together again at Surrender, several weeks later. Enzo wins. Kai takes advantage of Enzo’s injuries and convinces Milo to take her instead. Once Enzo realizes she is gone, he sets to work on a rescue plan. Just Enzo goes in, Kai is brutally raped by Milo, who shares his devastating story with her. Milo, Felix, and Piedro were Enzo's half brothers. They always knew about Enzo and were trained to be backup candidates to compete for the Black title. At age thirteen, their father had brought Enzo to them and ordered Enzo to shoot one as a test. Milo's motivation was revenge for Piedro’s death. Kai kills Milo during his attack. Six weeks later she is still refusing to speak to Enzo and uncertain how to handle the fact that she is pregnant, doesn't know who the father is, and is immersed in a dangerous world.
In book five:
Enzo now fully embraces his love for Kai, but she continues to shut him out as she works through her trauma. She remains secluded, but she grows very close with Langston and Liesel in the privacy of her room. Kai is convinced that Milo was correct in stating that the Black organization would reject their love and that any children she and Enzo had would be in danger, so she plans to complete the contest as required and disappear. The fourth game lasts one month. Each day a panel of five employees votes on which candidate should lead the Black empire the following day. Whoever ultimately becomes Black must have the support of the employees or they will revolt. Kai, Enzo, and Felix play a messy and dangerous game of politics with the crew as they try to convince them of their loyalty. When the fourth game does finally come to an end, the situation escalates. More truths are shared before the book ends in a devastating cliffhanger.
Enzo and Kai’s relationship is further tested in this book. Kai’s thoughts are confused following Milo’s attack, but she knows she must think about her unborn child now. The best way to keep the baby and Enzo safe is to go into hiding and keep the baby’s existence a secret. At the same time, Enzo has grown into an emotionally mature man. Without hesitation he puts his love for Kai first, no longer caring about keeping the title of Mr. Black. If not for their involvement in the Black organization, they might have achieved their HEA in this book.
A few issues merit mentions. *Spoilers* First, it doesn’t ring true that Enzo had left Kai, who all along had depended upon him for good sleep, alone at night for weeks following her rape. Second, although Langston meant well with Kai, the way he went about it initially was a betrayal to Enzo. After losing Zeke, possibly leaving Enzo alone to rule as Black without a soul to trust would be a reckless and thoughtless act. A more thoughtful plan wasn’t considered. Kai, too, put Langston between her and Enzo, possibly leaving Enzo without a trustworthy second hand or reliable friend. Third, both Enzo and Kai are wishy-washy with their feelings; it becomes tiresome earlier in the book. Fourth, it is unclear why Liesel doesn’t return home once they anchor off of Miami. Her involvement with an interrogation also seems out of place. Fifth, Kai looked weak in front of the crew when she dignified Felix’s many questions. Sixth, when given the opportunity to kill Felix, it is passed without a good reason, which only serves to prolong the story. Seventh, it is unclear how one couple survived the games in a previous generation and attempted to rule together in light of newly revealed rules.
Enzo and Kai’s emotionally riveting story continues the fantastically angsty twists and turns in book five of the series as readers root for their HEA. Their circumstances grow dire as Felix’s interference causes chaos within the Black organization. The story is nicely written. It is plot-driven, with heartbreaking curveballs that sock you in the gut. The characters are well-developed. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Enzo and Kai. I rate this book four stars.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Waiting on the edge of my seat at the end of each month to see what is going to happen with our dark and always fearless h and H, Kai and Enzo, in their quest for Truth or Lies. I really do love them both as they try to resist the strong attraction they have for each other, but must hide those feelings for the sake of the 'game' set up by their predecessors, their fathers. They've been broken, battered, bruised and betrayed, but nothing stops them, nothing breaks them completely, although a few times, Kai comes close. The game that will give one and only one of them the power to rule the entire wealth and power of the Black Organization that is passed down thru the generations of Millers (Kai) and the Rinaldi's (Enzo). Many would love to steal that power for themselves, enemies are everywhere, even those they think they can trust. They discover that each must announce an heir to inherit their place in the line of succession in order to continue to compete in this violent, often vicious game that pits these lovers against each other. Kai has been injured so many times during these tests that she believes herself unable to have biological children, so by default, she would like the more than capable Enzo to continue ruling as Black, as she feels he was meant to all along.
Is Enzo the obvious choice? Kai is looking strong as the games go on but they each keep trying to second guess the others motives to protect the one they love, sometimes ending up with yet another fire to put out in the process! Love in this crime family? Frowned upon...can they hide their feelings to keep each other safe?????? These two often make some big mistakes in that quest and the repercussions happen from them...suspenseful, heart stopping, angsty and full of WTH moments....yes, all of these will grab you as you continue to root for Kai and Enzo to get their s**t together and say to hell with everyone. Kai and Enzo have a secret that would change everything...what could it be and what sacrifices would they make to keep it? So many other surprising secrets, some very unexpected are sprinkled around this story..wow!
I can't wait for the conclusion of this 6 books series to be revealed...I sure hope Kai and Enzo get the HEA that they more than deserve. Dark, delicious and sexy...if you haven't read any of these books, get cracking. By the end of August you can binge your way right through them all, you won't be sorry if crime family drama, violence and steamy romance is your style!
I was happy to read an early copy of this new release and this is my honest review of the story.
I didn’t think it would happen but I am losing interest in these books . It started with book 4 and now this one. The twists , the Turns and Kai and Enzo communicating just be looking at one another . Never knowing who you can trust and where to go. These last two books are exhausting and for me the thrill is gone. I can’t read the last book soon enough and put this story to bed .
HAVE LIES FINALLY SHATTERED LOVE FOR GOOD OR IS LOVE THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON OF ALL?
“Something dark is coming.” All they need is the one thing they don’t have enough of … time.
HOW MUCH MORE CAN ENZO AND KAI TAKE??!! Or me, for that matter. Their nail-biting journey of competitive rivalry for leadership of the Black empire and finally getting on the same page in their love story has driven me insane with worry and dread for the outcome. It seems to go one way, and then abruptly turns another with so many shocking twists and turns that nothing is certain. The star-crossed couple has been on such a crazy rollercoaster -- emotionally and physically -- throughout this tense, torturous, and action-packed series. Even now, the importance of truths and lies have them all tangled up in the impending end of the competition and what it means for their future together. More than ever, deception, betrayal, and double-crosses swirl more heavily than alliances and trust. All these heart-clenching ups and downs have tested their love and commitment and yet they seem farther apart than ever, not closer. Just when they seem to find a way to love and a future, another insurmountable obstacle blocks their path. Nothing has ever been more clear than the fact that neither seems to catch a break in their long journey, and this book is no different.
That jaw dropping cliffy in STOLEN BY TRUTHS (Book #4), puts us squarely in yet another conundrum. All H E double hockey sticks has broken loose – that dirt bag Milo is finally dead and Kai is free of his captive clutches where she was beaten, tortured and raped. Yet everything is far from fixed. There are repercussions, and the Black competition has yet to play another game with Enzo currently in the lead. The game is the furthest thing from the couple’s minds because they may be back together physically, but further apart emotionally than ever before. Kai pushes Enzo away to protect a HUGE secret, and the lovesick boy keeps his distance while desperate to win her back. Asn’ tables have finally turned between them regarding love and power. He wants free of his dark world, and she wants free of him. Both are possessed by lies in this book -- Kai to keep her secrets and protect those she loves; and Enzo to finally crack open her secrets to the love they truly share. Will they burn everything to the ground in the process?
As much as I’ve loved this series, the 1st half of this book is rather repetitive with internal thoughts, insecurities, and flip-flopped feelings and decisions. Yes, no, maybe. It could have been cut down along with numerous sex scenes that often overshadowed the action. What there is of it (action) is pretty rushed and tends to talk us through or past events rather than giving a bird’s eye view of the violence and trickery that goes down when the game ramps into a month-long series of attacks that test the pair’s leadership.
The second half of the book picks up speed with lots of twists and turns for key characters and power shifts in the competition with destruction at every turn. There’s a really shattering complication about heirs and the competition, and just when I thought the author was tapped out on major surprises, I was blown to smithereens with more secrets about the Rinaldis and Millers. A much deeper and emotional portrait is painted of Enzo, showing his vulnerability. Things that come out about his duplicitous, scheming father and the empire hint that we’re clearly in for much more pain, separation, and heartbreak with the final competition for control of Black in the last book. And a series of rapid-fire events in the cliffy change everything, especially for the lovers who are about to find out that what they’ve been told all along isn’t truth, but lies.
At this point, this series is like a guilty pleasure train wreck. 🤣 Half the time I don't know what the hell is going on. We lose one villain just to gain another one, and they're all RELATED! How big is this horrible family? So Enzo has come to terms with the fact that he loves Kai. Nobody saw this coming, because he dOeSn'T hAvE a HeArT... But he found one somewhere apparently. The only problem is, Kai hates Enzo now, for some unknown reason. She says it's because of what Milo told her, but the math ain't mathin'. She knew the type of monster Enzo was molded to be by his father, and the lengths his father took Enzo's "training," so why is Enzo killing his (unbeknownst to him) half brother in cold blood such a deal breaker for Kai? If you figure it out, let me know, because I can't decode that one. Kai is back with Enzo, Langston, and Liesel, and she's refusing to talk to anyone whose name is Enzo. She's getting super friendly with the other two, and if I were Enzo, I'd be freaking furious. She tells them both she's pregnant, but refuses to tell Enzo. And for all his meticulous training, he's suddenly so unaware of his surroundings his father would be disappointed. He doesn't figure it out until almost the very end of the book. Kai and Enzo still haven't figured out how to use words and language. Everything they feel is in their heads and the only thing they do to communicate is have sex. Super frustrating. Everything would be so much easier if they just TALKED! But that would make it a much shorter book. Anyway, they're still doing their challenges, and by the end of the book, they're tied 2-2. Except now Enzo thinks everyone he loves is dead. We know Kai isn't, but my money is also on the fact that Langston and Liesel are also alive. Hopefully by the end of the last book, Felix won't be able to say the same, because bomb-boy is officially on my last nerve, with all of his grins and smirks and chuckles. Kai really made some personal growth into her confidence era in this book, and watching her take the lead so flawlessly was impressive and rewarding. And watching Enzo taking the backseat was equally rewarding. His ego has definitely calmed down a bit, but he's still super arrogant about "I can take on 12 men and beat them all with one hand tied behind my back because I'm a literal god... Blah blah blah." I'm excited for the final book, partially because it's been an interesting journey and partially because I'm ready to be done. That's not to say I've considered DNFing this series at any point, it's just been an absolute ROLLERCOASTER of emotions, and I'm honestly ready for an HEA for these poor MCs. The author must really hate her characters, because she has put them through the ringer!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Still not sure what is the truth and what is a lie!!!
HOLY COW!!!!! This series just keeps getting better and better, along with more twisted and darker so that you don't know if you will ever see the light again. Enzo and Kai are back and pick up where the previous book, Stolen by Truths, cliffhanger left us all with baited breath to see what would happen. So things are still intense as Milo is dead which mean Kai is free of him and all of his perversion and cruelty. But will she really ever be free of what happened to her? The game to see who will lead the Black empire is still being played between Enzo and Kai. However, now that they are back together, or are they really, the game is not the most important thing, or is it? The power dynamic between the characters is ever changing and then changing again. The world that Ella Miles writes for Enzo and Kai is filled with all sorts of lies by every character It is hard to know who is lying and when or what is the truth on any page. Ella has once again woven an intricate and multi-faceted story with so much emotion, intrigue, destruction, pain and so much more that by the end you quite literally "rode hard and put away wet" (horse riding term in case you don't know it). The cliffhanger at the end of Stolen by Truths had me once again swiping my Kindle looking for the rest of the story. But I guess I will have to wait for the next and final book in this series. It is hard to imagine that Kai and Enzo will finally find any semblance of a HEA together. But I just keep hoping that they do.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This is the fifth installment of a series so heart wrenching, full of action, and a love that will not die! Kai’s secret is slowly ousted! They are now onto the next game and it will test both their fortitudes, strengths, intelligences and more. The men can learn the truth about the two of them through their actions and decisions. It will end up with one alive, one dead or both dead~ If they tie, the final battle decides it all! But, the other secrets Kai holds can undo the leader of Black..or can it? The game Enzo’s father put into place can make or break either person! But, if Enzo wins, then he becomes Black and he wants to protect Kai at all costs! They have many decisions to make together but either way the end result will not sit well with the readers! It breaks my heart to see these two suffer for a once-in-a-lifetime love! Even if both survive this game…the next will cause one of them to end! The end of the book reveals another HUGE secret for one of our lovers…what is it? Who will win the next round? How much more suffering can these two take? Will Enzo learn about Kai’s secret? Liesel’s? Be ready to scream and holler at the book and the injustice that occurs for many! The books keep raising the stakes higher and higher! Just when you think you know the truth of things…watch out for those lies that become obsessive! I received this book via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review!

Kai and Enzo are in a game of their lives. This game is to see who will be head of a organization that is the power of the underworld. Kai wants nothing to do with it and Enzo was brought up to be the one who runs it. This is a story full of betrayal, secrets and a love that is off the charts. Enzo has gotten Kai back but she has retreated into herself after being raped by Enzo's half brother. She is not talking to Enzo and that hurts him, he wants to help Kai but he don't know how. Kai knows that she has to play the game but she also knows that she will need to leave Enzo for her to be safe due to the secret she is keeping from him. There are people who are after Kai and Enzo because they want the power that will come to the one who runs the organization. The relationship between Kai and Enzo is complicated to begian with but with everything that is happening it is more so. While being held by Enzo's brother she finds out that only one of them will make it out of the final part of the game. Can Kai and Enzo keep their love for each other in check or will it be their downfall? This is a story is about a love that has been torn apart by parties that don't want it to happen, it has twist and turns that will keep you on the edge and it will make you laugh at times and then cry at times. I could not put it down once I started reading it. I would recommand it to anyone.
Am I to believe what I see? Am I to think what I hear is the gospel? In most cases, probably. But, not in this book. Seeing is not believing, You learn to question everything. Let the games continue. Who is to say Kai will win or lose? And if she does win or lose, will it really turn out that way or just another optical illusion?
But there’s one strong thing that Kai has going for her. She knows how to keep secrets. And, she has a secret that will ensure she wins the game she chooses to play …. Either way, win or lose, she wins! So let the games begin, again. Kai will be the winner.
And I wouldn’t worry about Enzo. He’ll find a way to victory, even if he single handedly has to wipe out every traitorous soul that betrayed him. Yes, let the REAL games begin. I almost feel sorry for Felix.
Felix may be smart, but maybe he's too smart for his own britches. He and his team of turncoats may think they have won. Ohhhh, if only they knew!!!!!
But, in the end, I just really, really hope that Kai gets to do what she's warned Felix she'll do ... he won't need his cojones anyway.
We'll see it all come down in the next book. I so hope Zeke and Langston are still alive. Anxiously awaiting Consumed by Truths. It's going to be a page turner.
Tragic and haunting Possessed By Lies (Truth or Lies Series Book 5) by Ella Miles is the wonderfully well written fifth book of her Truth or Lies series. Kia and Enzo are possessed by war, this series of games they must participate in for the organization, and by their love. It’s truly so very tragic, as many dark romances are, and will most likely haunt me until book 6 is finally released. Ella Miles continues to weave her magic with book 5. Between the plot, action and characters it’s all so very captivating and held me enthralled from beginning to end. I adore both Enzo and Kai so much and just cannot help hoping for them to find their happiness. When the do find some joy, it’s a wonderful high and when they are hit with yet another obstacle that forces them apart, it’s just as devastating to the reader as it is to the characters themselves. Overall, this action packed, highly emotional and awesome demonstration of perseverance is exceptional! Yet one more piece to the puzzle is revealed and I simply cannot wait for Book 6. I know this author has a spectacular ending for us just around the corner. I read an ARC of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily share my review.
This is the fifth book in this series, which should conclude in the next book. I hope it does because I can't take much more. Since you should only be reading this book if you've read the four before it, you know the last book ended with Kai no longer in love with Enzo while he finally realized he loved her. How heartbreaking. Well, the ending of this book tops that.
I read this book on the edge of my seat, knowing that what was coming was going to be sad or devastating or heartbreaking or all of it. We know that Kai and Enzo seem to be cursed. Both cast into a horrible situation with no known happy outcome. Each time hope rises, it's crushed into the dirt.
In this book, Kai has a new secret that could be a game changer. But is it a change for good or bad? An added risk or a blessing? The ending is the worst. More heartbreaking than book 4. Why can't they catch a break? As terrible as it is, it's also logical in a world that can be incredibly cruel.
I'm really hoping that book 6 somehow gets them a happy ending. I can't wait to read it.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Kia and Enzo are still competing for the Black empire, but now that Enzo admits his love, will Kai be lost to him forever? There are so many lies and truths that life is getting confusing and intense. What happens now that the Black empire is at risk? Will Enzo's father have people in place to ensure his son continues as Black? Will Kai finally step up and be the woman the Black empire needs her to be? Will the others see her abilities to lead and put her in power? Or will the truth end them both? Does Enzo really lose all of those he loves and wants to protect?
Like the other stories, this has so much tragedy, emotional roller coaster, explosive scenes, romance, triggers, love, lust, romance, lies, deception, mystery, suspense and so much more. I hope their love wins, but can it really win or will there be no winner in the end? One more book to go until we have all of the truths and lies....I can't wait!!! I received an ARC of this book from the author.

I always expect the unexpected with Ella Miles and this series is the epitome of that motto!
What a ride! Just when I think I have everything figured out, I'm thrown some wicked curveballs (yes, multiple twists. I think there are even twists on twists in this one!)
I loved the blending of romance, action, plot and character development. These characters have come so far and evolve after every test thrown their way.
I just couldn't get enough and I'm dying for the grand finale!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "POSSESSED BY LIES" What a mindblowing storyline this story takes you on its full of intense drama, intrigue, danger, angst, secrets, lies, betrayal, action, mystery, scorching hot steamy sex scenes, twists you can't believe. Kai and Enzo's journey in this installment is absolutely unbelievable the mind games in this one just don't stop coming you don't know what's going to happen from one minute to the next. Felix is Enzo's halfbrother and he's a piece of work so evil the things he does he wants his revenge he shows up our of no where trying to destroy the loyalty between him and his empire. This is defintely a must have series you don't want to miss so well written and so well worth the read I can't wait for "CONSUMED BY TRUTHS" the next book in this fantastic series.
Be aware that this book is part five in a series, you must read the prequel and the first four books before reading this one.
Even with one enemy gone, Kai and Enzo are not safe and must continue in their battle to become ruler of the Black empire. This series is dark and deals with a lot of controversial issues that could be triggers for some readers. Ever since the prequel of this series I have been captivated by Kai and Enzo's world, as well as their game of truth and lies. This is a fantastic series and I am looking forward to reading Consumed by Truths, which is the sixth and final book in this series. I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves a great dark romance.

The constant pull and push are going on my nerves. I am still appalled by this, and I am still reading it… now though I want to finish this series and get all my answers. Mostly I want to shake both characters up a bit, so they see clearly what they have right in front of them!
In short: Heroine 3/5 => A frustrating person! Hero 3/5 => He is still just a bag of d!cks! Plot 3/5 => The plot is promising… Secondary Characters 3/5 => I still have mixed feelings about them. Humor 1/5 => Hard to find humor in a dark and twisted book as this. Drama 4/5 => A lot of Drama but nobody points it out or talks about it. Heat 2/5 => Slow burn and some of the heat is just twisted! Romance between characters 3/5 => There is some chemistry that relates to romance, but I hope to god the main characters find their significant other in someone different or they go to therapy together!
Wow....just wow. Ella Miles really knows how to torture her readers, and she's not done yet, because this is not the end, and I'm desperately needed the last book, I really need to know Enzo and Kai's fate, I'm dying to know how this is all will end.
This is another dark twisted book from this series, there are some repetitions that quite bothering me, and you can call me weird but I'm not a fan of the steaminess in this book, I found it really distracting from the story, but when the twist hit me in the face, I can't stop reading it, the craziness of all the truths and lies got me on the edge of my seat. It's dark, it's complicated, full with twists, so yeah I like it a lot.
If dark and twisted is your cup of tea, this series definitely for you.
I find that many authors find it difficult to re-invent a story line and keep readers interested and on the tips of their toes without seeming mundane. Holy Smokes!!!!!! These books are getting better and better. They are one night reads for me because I literally CANNOT put them down! I remember seeing an ad on Facebook for the first book, Taken by Lies... I kept hesitating to read it and once I did, I was absolutely amazed and hooked! Then I got an ARC for the most recent book, Possessed by Lies. Kai is the girl I want to be, strong and determined. Enzo is the guy I want to have, fearless. Reading their story has me begging for the next chapter. I'm dying to see how they work out the last issue and what it means for the empire!!!
This is the fifth book in the truth or Lies series, and the continuation of Enzo, and Kai's epic love story. I've sat down to write this review, but I can't even put into words how great this book was. This book took away all my other thoughts, it was all I could think of even after i was done reading. Enzo, and Kai's story will stay with you, it will haunt you, it's so gripping, and heartbreaking, intense, and emotional, I was glued to the pages, unable to put it down, and unable to breath, as I came to the end, and i don't think my heart will recover. This is a must read, this whole series, I highly recommend. 4.5 Stars

Man this series keep dragging me in and blowing my mind. Ella finds more ways to draw you in the Enzo and Kai's story. I think it's the end of them or one of them and than something else pops up and the story gets deeper and deeper. Enzo is still my favorite book husband ever. No matter what he does he is the strongest most loyal man there is. He will fight for himself, Kai, his team, and his friends til there is nothing left in him to fight with. Kai has been to hell and back multiple times for this organization and she wants nothing to do with it, but she can't leave Enzo; her heart won't let her. She has to be strong to keep them both safe.
This continues the story of Kai and Enzo as they continue to fight their feelings and emotions whilst trying to survive the games that choose who shall rule the Black criminal empire. It’s well written and has lots of action, suspense with some twists and turns to go along with the romance. The main characters and sub-characters are fleshed out really well. Although I really enjoy this author’s writing, I do feel that there was quite a bit of repetition in this book between how Kai and Enzo are together. I’m looking forward to the final book to see how the story ends.

I learned my lesson with the first books in this series. These are not stories to be read in public. They will rip the still-beating heart from your chest, stomp it into the ground, and laugh in the face of your pain. As each nuance of the Black Empire and the game for control is revealed to us, I despair of ever seeing my wish for Enzo and Kai getting their happy ever after coming true. After everything that happens between these covers and the truths of the final scenes, I don’t know how the author will be able to resolve the impossible. But my heart still wants to see it happen. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
What an amazing read. It's still a roller coaster of a ride for Kai and Enzo. The way this chapter ends I can't see how they will ever get their happily ever after. Totally a page turner to see what happens next. There is so much in this story, you can't help but cheer for Kai, then cheer for Enzo, but its true, they are stronger together, but there is no way to prove it to their followers. Ms. Miles has me thinking of all kinds of different scenarios for the final chapter and I have no clue what to expect, except that it will be one explosive conclusion. I absolutely cannot wait for the final chapter.
