Dream of Destiny

Rate this book
His touch is divine, his love forbidden - step into a world of vengeful gods, destiny, and a mortal girl who defies them all.

A chance encounter at a masked ball thrusts me into a drunken one-night stand with Haides. He's everything I've ever desired - dark, alluring, and irresistibly dangerous. But when I escape like Cinderella at the crack of dawn, leaving behind my mask, little did I know that my mysterious stranger was Hades, God of the Underworld in search of his long-lost queen.

As our relationship unfolds, my discovery of being adopted, sends me on a search for my biological parents, setting in motion events that threaten to unravel the foundation of my existence. And during a surprise attack on our date night, I risk my life to protect Haides, uncovering his true identity and the consequences of being in love with a god.

Amidst secrets, betrayal, and hidden agendas, a recurring dream urges me to reclaim my power and embrace my destiny. However, the Fates have their own plan, revealing the truth.

All hail the Queen - but will I survive the obstacles standing in my way?

Dream of Destiny is a story of true love, betrayal, forgiveness and journey of self discovery, inspired by Hades & Persephone's myth. This modern retelling book is a dark, standalone book with adult themes, which some readers might find uncomfortable and triggering.

This is a stand alone MF paranormal romance in a contemporary setting and is a reimagining of Hades and Persephone's story. This book had a lot to live up to as one of my fave books ever is Goddess of Spring by PC Cast, I love Hades as a character in all books, dark and possessive but gooey on the inside for his girl.

If you like your Greek mythology mixed with your romance this one is for you. Its beautifully written, descriptive and well balanced between story content and heat. There's a few twists in this story, I was really surprised by the Artemis reveal and loved that.

I also enjoyed the relationship between Hades, Zeus and Poseidon they are often pitted against each other in books and film so I was glad they weren't the "big bad" of the book. Hopefully that doesn't count as a spoiler.

Let's not get started on Demeter, cos she made me so angry, what a Bitka!

I'm the first person to admit whilst I do love a good fantasy I tend to lean towards the darker or RH ones. I spied the blurb for this and it piqued my curiosity. I'm glad it did because Anita didn't disappoint!

This is her debut novel and whilst in some ways it shows her beautifully descriptive style really shines through. A retelling of Hades and Persephone in a contemporary setting Anita puts a new spin on some of the old tales. One of the best things about this book is the way the side characters don't feel like side characters whilst not overshadowing the main character either, it's a fine line and Anita strolls on down it like a boss. I don't want to give spoilers but safe to say if you like your romance with a good dollop of steam you want to grab this book.

I can't wait to see what comes next from this author

Fabulous retelling of Hades and Persephone

This is the first book in Greek Mythology I have read for quite some time and I absolutely loved it.

I think I now need to dive back into the genre and read some more! I loved the whole concept of the story and the telling of the characters from different perspectives.

I loved the chemistry with Ana and Hades from when they first met. All of the characters were perfectly written and so much fun to read about.

I cannot wait to see if Lillie brings out more books based on the characters we have met here.

A brilliant debut and I cannot wait to read what comes next.

This book is based on a retelling of the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone.

I already knew the myth because we had discussed it during Greek history classes at school. the author has lived up to the myth.

the way she gives the gods a role in the story is unbelievably well done. an enemy to lovers story at its best. The book is fast paced and has a great amount of action and romance in it. And on top of that it is well spiced.

I enjoyed every moment of the story. And was often surprised at some of the twists and turns the story makes! definitely worth a read!

thanks for this experience!

Why! Why did I not read this book sooner!

I was hooked from the beginning. It had my attention and literally didn't let go till the last page! Even now, after 2 hours since finishing the book, I'm still thinking about it!

I loved the push and pull between Haiden and Anastasia!  The twists and turns! The SPICE! 🌶 This is definitely a book I'd have on my book shelf!

Don't do what I did and leave it in your TBR pile! Read it now! It's on unlimited kindle too, what a bonus!

Woah there. I was totally shocked that this was Anita's debut book. It is soooo good! I love the strength of Ana, watching what she has to overcome and the fantastic inner strength she has! And then... AND THEN being introduced to Hades... 🔥he nails the hot alpha and the chemistry between them is off the charts! It's a delightful take on the Greek gods in modern day which I love so much. Cannot wait to see what this author comes up with!

A Modern-Day Retelling of Hades and Persephone. I was taken aback by this story. It kept me guessing and wondering who Persephone was. For some reason, my brain took me on a wild-goose chase instead of the obvious answer.

The author goes into great detail and I felt like I lived their lives, the language was colourful and exciting. I really appreciated the way the story was told.

The end was HEA which I am grateful for as I assumed it wouldn't be. I thought it would be more gloomy of a tale but thankfully, it wasn't.

Great job!

Praise/brat? Check. Hades/Persephone? Check. Drama? Check. Mystery and suspense? Check. Steamy scenarios? Check. HEA? Check. Surprises? Check.

I did not read the original but the edited version. This advanced copy was provided for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. I thought I knew where it was going but was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The story telling manages to capture you by the end of the first chapter. I couldn’t put it down and I am sad it’s over. This should be your next read.

“We could try a battle of wits, sadly I refuse to battle with two unarmed beasts.”

Dream of Destiny by Anita Caelestis reminded me why I fell in love with the Hades and Persephone myth in the first place.

This love story is a paranormal romance, set in a contemporary setting (as opposed to ancient times). The Old Gods are walking the Earth, and Anastacia has caught the attention of the dark and broody Hades (in the guise of Haiden).

There's a lot that I can't talk about without risking spoilers, but I can comment on the two main characters: Hades/Haiden and Anastacia/Persephone. To me, Hades has always been a possessive character in every version of his story. He also has more of a tendency to hide his power and not showboat like his brothers Zeus and Poseidon do. On the other side of this relationship, there’s Persephone who is the “goddess of spring” and anything but a delicate little flower. You get glimpses of the dark and powerful Underworld queen that Persephone has the potential to be in Dream of Destiny, and I am all here for it. Demeter also really needs to stop getting in the way of Hades and Persephone's relationship.

If you are a fan of steamy romance and Greek mythology, add this to your TBR pile now. Anita Caelestis’ debut Dream of Destiny was an amazing debut, and I’m eager for more from this new author.

Thank you to the author and Midnight Readers Book Promotion (formerly known as Zsuzsanna’s Reading Corner) for allowing me to read an early copy of this book at no cost to myself.

This was my first Hades/Persephone retelling and it did not disappoint!

Hades is deliciously jealous/possessive and I was on board with it! Throw in his Daddy Darkness powers and I might as well have been a puddle of mush on the floor 🥵

Anastacia goes through so much in this book, but she still manages to hold her head high, with her best friend Selena at her side she can overcome anything!

The other characters in this book weren't just side characters - they made this book! Although it mainly revolves around Hades and Ana I loved the snippets we got from the others too!

Anita has created this beautiful world for us to escape to, and I enjoyed every second of it 🖤

Dream of Destiny is Anita Caelestis's debut novel, and she smashed it! Her writing is very good and wonderfully descriptive, the characters realistic, and there's plenty of feelings.

I'm not the biggest fan of fantasy type books, but I very much enjoyed this Hades and Persephone retelling. The mysterious undercurrents, the hints of darkness, the possessiveness of Hades, the love...it all comes together in an explosive ending that leaves you rooting for the characters and satisfied at a story well told.

I'm interested in seeing what the author will bring us next!

3.5 stars. This was a fun retake on the Hades + Persephone for fans of just that story, there is tons of easter-eggs referenced in this modern retelling. I feel like though for people who don't know any Greek mythology though - this can be confusing. Personally not for me, it was clear that the author knows her stuff and the personality details of Persephone's jealous nature.

*Slight spoilers*

However it did take some parts where even I was a bit confused - for example in one of the memories Hades calls a nickname to her...but at first I thought it was a different person. (The memory that Ana has in the field, and Hades is actually calling out to her using a nickname for Persephone...that actually is only used in that one scene)

I do think I was confused at one of the lines Hades said where he was confused about his attraction to Ana - being with women before (this is after their one-night stand)...which was a surprise since in most retellings/retake - Hades doesn't sleep with women after he gets together with Pesephone? But near the end it seems like in the end Ana was the only one since (who turns out to Pesephone). I did really like that when Pesephone got her memories back though she was upset that Hades slept with Ana and pursued her - despite it being her. I felt in the whole story the Ana/Pesephone character development was really spot on well done. Hades was a bit more confusing a bit to me, especially because of his conflict with being so attracted to Ana - even though he had Pesephone. Since after their one-night stand later in the scenes where he's training her and eventually sleeps with Ana, it felt............really just weird that he went with it. Even Ana without her memories at that time that she's the queen, was like ????? what if she comes back???

Eventually Hades puts one and one together that Ana is Pesephone, but it wasn't really written where he exactly figured it out - either maybe the rose or Ana on the throne (after they slept together...) scene? If it's the rose scene, then it makes more sense why he would still go forward I suppose...but if it's after.... Overall we know Hades is devoted to Pesephone though, it's just a weird rollercoaster though with his sort of conflict.

I did enjoy the book though - but would put this more as a 3.5, since I felt near the end it was a bit anticlimactic. It was good that Pesephone got to say her words against her mom and Hades, but I felt it would've been nice if she and Hades had a hot steamy scene together as King and Queen to totally round things out.

I love the front cover of this book, it also makes me want the pretty kitty too 🐈⬛.
Wow what an opening first chapter!
The first time Ana locks eyes with hades oh boy what a scene, I got goosebumps all over. What a powerful and magnet scene 💗
I love how at first she calls him dark Adonis and how she carries on throughout the entire book, I got super excited when his eyes flashed with purple sparks.

Oh boy the steam in this book (fans face lol) 🔥🔥

The part where Ana is distraught and starts to play a dark and haunting melody on the piano , wow it’s like you can imagine it in your own head , feeling those emotions with every note she makes.

Where do we all find a BFF like Selena 🤔 I think that even though this book tells a story about Anastasia and Hades it also tells a love story about two best friends, even though Selena is keeping a secret from Ana she still loves her and wants nothing more than to protect her. I love their friendship.

It’s so exciting reading about the sparks between Ana and Hades, it’s so cute 😍 .

It made me so curious when Ana kept having the same dream over and over again.

I think overall I really enjoyed this book and I really can’t wait for more.
The author has done a fantastic job writing this 🙌🏻

One thing that does confuse me through is when Persephone is in Ana’s body does that mean they are both in there or was it always Persephone all along and she just forgot with the potion?!
I know that Demeter does say that she got pregnant and stole Persephone soul and put her in the new baby, but I’m still confused haha.
I really need to know who Persephone/Anastasia new father is 😩

Such a great book and I couldn’t get enough, I devoured it and now I need more.

3.5⭐️ Haiden - SWOON! a great debut

This is the debut for this author and I look forward to more to come! This is a Hades and Persephone retelling. I love these kinds of books they are romantic, dark and full of Greek mythology.

Our two leads are Haiden and Anastacia, they meet at a masquerade ball and are instantly drawn to each other. They have an incredible night of passion, but Anastacia feels like she isn’t enough for him, thinks he’ll get bored and leave her broken hearted.. so she leaves in the middle of the night with no way of getting hold of her. Haiden doesn’t take this lightly and looks all over for her but with no luck.

Haiden is the true embodiment of dark Adonis! His heart has only longed for one woman who he can no longer have, he can’t find her and has searched the world and under trying. So when he meets Anastacia he is shocked that his soul calls to him and her, he wants her and nothing will stop him. He is dark, dangerous and loves just as strongly.

Anastacia is a sweet, loving bookworm with a quiet life. That’s until she meets Haiden has an incredible night.. however that feeling doesn’t last long, she soon finds out truths from her mother, her friend and her world gets turned upside down.

I really liked this book though I do feel some bits jumped a bit too much time, however I never felt lost within the story. I wasn’t too sure about Anastacia’s character I just couldn’t fully connect with her but I loved the mystery that is Haiden.

I loved Gabriel and Selena great secondary characters!!

This book is hot, mysterious, loving and the love between Selena and Anastacia is so adorable!

Anastacia lives in San Francisco and the old gods and goddesses walk the earth once again. The gods and goddesses include Zeus, Poseidon, Hermes, Hecate, Demeter, Artemis, Aphrodite, and Hades who is still looking for his missing queen of the Underworld. Anastacia catches his eye, and it changes her life forever! It leaves her world crashing and burning around her as she deals with lies, secrets, and betrayal. She doesn't think that she can stand up against the old gods but fate has a way of changing the course of one's life. Will everything crash and burn, or will she rise as the new queen? This book was absolutely amazing. I'm a sucker for a good Hades and Persephone retelling, due to the fact that they're my favorite couple in mythology. This book certainly didn't disappoint. This book had it all romance, action, Greek gods, and goddesses! I didn't want to leave this world and was heartbroken when the book was finished. I seriously can't wait to read more from Lillie, I'm officially a big fan! ❤

4 1/2 ⭐️

Absolutely loved this retelling of Hades and Persephone to a point where I actually wanted to pick up my old Greek mythology books and get stuck back into the old stories again. Was really great looking into the characters you know and love and seeing different perspectives and what they could be like in the modern era. If you like your Greek mythology this is definitely a book for you. I love the characters in this book they’ve been really well thought through although I do think one character disappeared half way through the book which although kind of in keeping with the character wasn’t explained why we didn’t see her again (Anastasia s ‘Mom’.) I would actually love to see some of the other Gods in other spin off books and wonder if this will happen? 🙏🙏 Very much enjoyed and will continue to read the author! 🖤❤️

First of all, I love retelling, fairy tales retelling or mythology, I think it was my first with Hades and Persephone and it didn't disappoint. We have a contemporary setting mixed with Gods, the gods live on the human realm and hide behind false identity. It was really interesting to try to get which god were some characters. The story doesn't disappoint with twists. One thing I really like was that Persephone had no idea she was Persephone so as the reader you try to understand how she is Persephone, who is aware of her real identity, begging Hades to realize it

I really love the friendship between Selena and Anastacia as well as the one between Hades, Zeus, Poseidon and Hermes (Maybe there is room for a spin-off).

It took me a few chapter to get engrossed into the story but once I was in I was in love with it.

A unique and interesting twist on Greek gods
I loved reading this book, from beginning to end! Not only did I find the twists about the gods unique and interesting, but I loved their hilarious characteristics and attitudes. Reading this book is like reading about your favorite group friends. It's got the humor, connection, romance, and then there's the suspense of what's going on and what will come next. Secrets, lies, betrayals, plots of revenge, and mysterious dreams that all mean something, but what? Absolutely worth the read and 100% recommend you do read this because it will stick with you for so many reasons!

Lillie Alexander had a very good way of going about this retelling of Hades/Persephone. I always love any retelling of this couple. I did love this book. But the beginning was very flat for me. Anastacia was just not written well in the beginning of the book. Whenever she had conversations with people it was very short and emotionless when things should have had emotion in it. The book did get better the more you went through the book but the beginning was rough.

Still cant stand Demeter in any retelling. This book didnt disappoint on that either!

Dream of Destiny by Anita Caelestis is a delicious MF urban fantasy and romance story with a jealous hero befitting his name. This retelling includes some of the greats in Greek Mythology and does not disappoint! Anita's world-building is sound and believable, which is a feat given that Ancient Greece has come to the modern world. At no point did I know how this retelling was going to end, and I was engrossed until the very last page. This is one romance worth the preorder/add to the TBR!

Dream of Destiny is the debut book of Anita Caelestis and it is one of my favourite Hades and Persephone retellings that I have read so far. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Haiden and Anastacia because it was very entertaining at times. Anastacia goes through a lot in this book but it definitely makes her a lot stronger and thankfully her best friend is there to have her back no matter what. I absolutely loved the twists in this book and I never expected it to turn out the way it did.

not worth the hype

DNF on page 32. Was not for me. Ana had clearly changed names in various drafts as in the first spice scene she was referred to as different names. Clear that the author settled on Ana to make people think of Fifty Shades. Confirmed when she thought of the male as adonis, the way ‘grey’ told her off for sexy dancing and how he spoke to her in first spice scene. Will appeal to some, but not me.

This is the debut book of Anita Caelestis and it's her retelling of Hades and Persephone's story from a very clever and contemporary point of view.

For me, it was the first time I read the retelling of this myth, one that I particularly like since I'm a huge fan of the Greek mythology and it didn't disappoint, just thinking about the ancient Greek Gods walking on earth on this modern days is really fascinating.

I loved the characters and all the mystery around them, specially the turns that I didn't see coming lol

Overall a very enjoyable reading, even if you are not familiar with the story or you are not a fan of Greek Mythology.

Okay, this book surprised me. I really enjoyed the way it was written. Even with the tug the main character felt she was resilient. I loved the strength and depth of the characters. The Main male character was obsessive and unhinged in the best way.
