When game warden Raymond McConnell is found murdered with his own knife in the cab of his state-issued pickup truck at a popular fishing lake, it’s hard to know where to begin an investigation because it’s doubtful that anyone in Somerton County had more enemies than McConnell. Even deputies John Lee Quarrels and Maddy Westfall are considered suspects at the onset of the investigation!

With their names cleared, John Lee and Maddy are called on to assist the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in the hunt for the killer, and they have a long list of suspects to investigate, including some people they consider friends. Was it one of the many women that McConnell bedded and then betrayed? A jealous husband or boyfriend? The father and his teenaged son McConnell had abused and humiliated on a dark lonely road late one night? His own wife, who was tired of his philandering ways and showed no sorrow when told of his death? Or maybe his sister-in-law, who made no secret of the fact that she hated the man? And that's not to mention the many sportsmen who were harassed by the rogue game warden.

As the hunt for the elusive killer goes on, John Lee and Maddy have other issues to deal with, too, including a ne'er-do-well husband who has ignored repeated orders to pay child support, and John Lee's airhead mother, who shows up in town and tries her hardest to turn their lives upside down.

As sultry as a Florida back road in August, as mysterious as the South's live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss, and as deadly as a copperhead strike , Ka-Bar Karma , the tenth book in New York Times bestselling author Nick Russell's John Lee Quarrels, series is sure to hook you from the first page and keep you reading late into the night.

Another great John Lee quarrels story

10 books in this series so far, and they keep getting better. Read them from the first one to get the back story! You always need the back story with southern stories! Highly recommended.

Another GREAT JOB

Nick Russell is a author that has the imagination and the ability to make you believe that you are involved in the situation as you read it.

I highly recommend you read all of Nicks books. They are very hard to put down after you start reading.

I WENT ONLINE TO SEE HOW MUCH THAT VERY VISIOUS LOOKING KNIFE (ka-bar) WOULD COST. IT CAN BE RATHER EXPENSIVE STARTING AT $10.00 UP TO $200.00. WOW! JOHN LEE & MADDY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO JUST SAY NO. PAW PAW & NELL DID A PISS POOR JOB RAISING LISA MARIE SHE IS ONE SPOILED OLD BRAT. I WONDERED HOW THEY DID SUCH A GREAT JOB RAISING JOHN LEE, GUESS THEY LEARNED FROM THEIR MISTAKES. SHE'S A ROTTEN BITC#. ;D

aka-Bar Karma by Nick Russell

This is the tenth book in John Lee series that I have read. The perp in this story suddenly pops out of nowhere in the last 5-6 pages!! There is not much logical build-up that is provided. It appears, then, that a lot of irrelevant stuff is presented in about 95% of the book.

Lisa Marie what a joke

John Lee’s mother Lisa Marie finally shows up and is nothing but a pain in the butt.
The story really drug on with all the questioning and no exciting moments

I can see the Arthur is getting bored with this series. It’s lost the excitement that it started with.

I like the characters but (SPOILER) this one spent the entire book interviewing suspects. Not my favorite.

Sometimes justice is served in different ways. Appreciate the right ending for a bad guy. Continue to writhe the good story.
