This stunt wolf isn’t just a very good boy. He’s her perfect man.
Posing as a trained dog for a low-budget horror movie is the worst idea wolf shifter Louis has ever let his best friend talk him into, but the money is too good to pass up. Besides, how hard can it be to growl for the camera, chase a few actors, and not let anyone realize Dr. Werewolf is starring a real werewolf?
Very hard, when it turns out that the woman painting fake blood onto his fur is his fated mate…
Makeup artist Stephanie thought working on Dr. Werewolf would be a fun distraction after dumping her cheating ex-boyfriend. But not only is her cheating ex on set as a caterer, he still thinks he can persuade her to get back together. Even worse, the star of Dr. Werewolf isn't someone in a costume, it's something straight out of her worst nightmares...
After a childhood scare, even the gentlest dog makes Stephanie freeze up. But she is not going to let the crew down and she is not giving her ex the satisfaction of seeing her scared. She’ll just have to grit her teeth and do her best to avoid both the dog and the ex as much as possible.
Determined to win over his mate, Louis will have to give the performance of a lifetime as a sweet and cuddly dog who is definitely not an actual wolf, figure out how to tell her the truth about shifters, and help her deal with her ex once and for all.

Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
This is a short, sweet story about a wolf shifter that is recruited by his friend to act as a dog in a film. At first he doesn't want to, but he ends up going and find his mate there. Only problem, she is afraid of dogs. It's an easy reading, and something nice to relax.
This is a cute shifter romance novella, in the Shifter Bites series. It was very short, so there wasn't time for as much character development as I normally like. It gets 3 stars from me.
I liked both Louis and Stephanie, and thought they were good for each other. I liked that he helped her to start overcoming her fear of dogs, which started when she was just a toddler.
One problem with this novella is that it was just very short. I prefer longer books, so that there is room for more character development. This novella features shifter instalove, but is clean and sweet (kisses and a suggestion that they had sex, but no actual sex scenes).
I thought the story on this one was a bit far-fetched. I just didn't buy that anyone would believe a wolf shifter was a trained dog. I thought the idea was cute, just not very believable. There was also a continuity issue with the story -- in one place, it seemed like part of the story was a bit out of order.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Kind of amusing, very cheesy, a bit of fun - read on KU
There is a whole lot of telling instead of showing in this novella. I think it being a novella is part of that but I also don't get the feeling the author has matured beyond that writing style. Kissing and belly rubs are as dirty as this book gets. No foul language. (I personally prefer a lot of steam but knew it was a clean story going in and don't fault it for that.)
The concept is a little funny. And the book is enjoyable in the same way the horror movies they filmed are. The movies were funny because they are so bad. This book is amusing because it is so far from realistic. It isn't even realistic as a shifter romance.
This is the kind of thing you might read when you're waiting for a doctor's appointment when you know the doctor is always an hour behind. If you have very little time to read in general, I do not recommend reading this. Read something better, deeper, more meaningful or better in a funnier way. But something with more meat on its bones. But if you read a lot and need something short or just need a short change of pace, you might find this worth reading.
I won't be reading more by this author but don't feel like I wasted time reading this.
Louis is a wolf shifter pretending to be a dog pretending to be a werewolf! He got talked into doing this by his friend. However, it works out well for him since he meets his mate who lives in the next town over(not a shifter town). Stephanie thinks she is doing makeup on a costumed werewolf, not a "trained" dog! Now what can she do? Especially since her ex-boyfriend is also on the set as a caterer. Louis has his hands full, learning his moves for the movie and trying to prove to his mate that he isn't scary! Now he has to chase off an ex-boyfriend without acting too nasty, or they will kick him off the set!
The pace is fast and the tone is hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some kissing and suggestions, but no details further. The characters are vivid and endearing. I want to see his friend Joshua find his mate now. Another fun Zoe Chant Shifter Bites short story.
I really enjoyed this sweet novella about Louis and Stephanie. Stephanie is a baker and a part-time horror movie make up artist. Louis is a wolf shifter. He and his bear shifter friend, Joshua, audition for a part in a local werewolf horror film with Louis shifted in wolf form and his friend acting as the trainer as the trainer. Louis knows Stephanie is his mate when he first meets her on the set when he’s in wolf form but she is terrified of dogs. The book details their journey to navigate their fledging relationship while trying to film the werewolf movie with Louis as a wolf. Despite the book being short, there was some character development for both characters. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, real life issues, imperfect characters, laughter, and so much love. Another great Zoe Chant book.
If Hallmark made movies for shifter girlies, THIS would be their crown jewel. Zoe Chant said, “What if Hollywood, but also… werewolves?” and honestly? She understood the assignment. 👏
The Vibes: Imagine showing up to work thinking it’s going to be a normal movie set and suddenly your co-star is a giant, gorgeous werewolf with smoldering eyes, loyalty issues (in a good way), and a growl that could melt your ribcage. Umm… yes, please. 🐺💘
The Heroines’s POV: “I signed up to act, not to be dragged into supernatural nonsense!” Also her: “But wow… he’s really hot…” Also her again: “Why is he glaring at the lighting guy like he’s about to fight him over a sandwich??”
The Hero: Growly, protective, probably sniffs the air dramatically at least once a chapter. Basically a wolf-shaped golden retriever. With abs. 10/10 would let him ruin my life.
A lot of fun for a wolf playing a dog playing a wolf in a movie. Who knew being an actor would be so much fun for a wolf shifter? When the wolf shifter finds his mate on the set, things heat up and get interesting especially when his mate has a fear of dogs. He has to help his mate with her fear of his wolf and let her know that she is his mate. Enter old boyfriend who cheated and wants her back because well she was obviously mistaken about that cheating and everything is her fault because no way Michael cheated even if his lips were kissing another lady. Read and laugh and enjoy!
I know I am being repetitive, but I have never read a 'Zoe' book I didn't love. Again, this was no exception. Louis being a wolf shifter, pretending to be a dog that looks like a wolf, for a low rate horror film.......well that was a new one. Meeting his mate at the audition, that was kinda priceless. Considering she has a severe fear of dogs. Stephanie, however, worked through her fear, even before she knew Louis was 'more' than just a dog. The story was a quick read, but had everything you would expect from the 'author'. Romance, humor and great secondary characters. I really hope we get to read more about Joshua. I received an early copy and this is my honest opinion.
I knew this book would be a good one when I read the description, and I was right! I loved the whole plot about these college students filming a horror movie in the woods and a shifter playing “the trained animal” with his shifter buddy being his “trainer”. Then the love interest being the make up artist was a nice addition to round it all out. Of course there must be a bad guy, the lecherous, cheating ex! Great book with the HEA ending.
Louis is a nice mechanic willing to pretend to be a well trained dog for a few hundred dollars. Stephanie is a baker with a horror makeup hobby. They both end up working on the same ultra low-budget horror movie. And they're fated mates.
If you think it's all going to go horribly wrong... Well, you're wrong. Stephanie goes for Louis right off. The problem is her ex.
Low angst, and all the violence is fake. Bonus: you might learn a thing or two about fake blood.
Silly bit of entertaining whimsy. Short, cute and funny. A wolf shifter, pretending to be a dog, that’s pretending to be a wolf. Very comical farce and I kept imagining Louis doing all these things. His wolfs attitude of, it's not happening, to, I can do that scene better was really cute. Not quite sure about the idiocy of Michael but they sure sorted him out. Hope Joshua gets his mate too. Read through Kindle Unlimited.
I enjoyed this book a lot! Louis was a riot with his belly rubs! Even his Wolf loved his fated mate giving him belly rubs and who would have expected his Wolf crave them! But she was his fated mate so his wolf would do anything for a good boy belly rub…lol! I’m really enjoying all these Shifter Bites short stories! Lots of laughs, great storyline and you are pulled right into the book! Enjoy!
I really liked this book alot. I have read a great many paranormal, romance novels along with all the other genres (historical, science fiction, thriller, horror, comedic ) . This is the first premise like this that I've come across. Very cute and interesting plot. Likeable characters and the lead Stephanie felt a little like I was reading something about myself. Which is wonderful because I read to escape and this story did that.
Romance is next as Louis, pretends to be a dog who looks like a wolf. meets his fate mate. Stephanie, walks into the filming area, and tries her best not to scream as a large dog jerks towards her. No one knows she terrified of dogs. Add an x-boyfriend, and you'll have to read to see how it ends.
Louis is a werewolf parenting to be a dog to play a werewolf in a small budget film!!! Stephanie is a baker, who loves horror films and during make up! She rakes a job as the make up artist for the same film! Louis realizes that Stephanie is his mate! The only problems us Stephanie is afraid of dogs!!!
I am a huge fan of the Zoe Chant series. This one is short, sweet and to the point.
Stephanie and Louis are great main characters. The horror movie plot was certainly different. The read was fun. I recommend any of Ms. Chant’s stories to anyone who likes HEA shifter stories.
I love everything Zoe Chant writes, and this story was no exception. Sweet love story with a bite. Real werewolf pretending to be a dog acting like a werewolf finds his dog-phobic mate on a movie set.
Shocked at how much I loved this. Such a unique and sweet twist on the shifter meet-cute! The characters are so wonderful and the storyline just flowed, couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to see what fate has in store for Joshua.
This author can tell you and keep u engrossed in the storyline and the characters with amazing details so it's a well deserved five stars and I would recommend it to everyone
This is a really cute book to read. I loved the wolf who auditioned for a part in a movie but what part. That is the fun of the book. Read it and find out.
A short read it's set in the same world as bear creek series but I found this boring, I liked the two main love interests and Louis friend but the storyline was boring the ex was even boring.
Louis was a wolf shifter and his friend Joshua convinced him they should try out for a part in a low budget horror movie. First day on the set he sniffed his fated mate…who was terrified of dogs. Funny premise, moved fast. Sill and cute.
Enjoyable light fun story, well written with great characters. Quite short and I would have liked a bit more depth but overall a really good fun way to spend an hour or two.
Louis met his fated mate when his friend Joshua suggested they try out to be in a movie. Who knew that making a movie could be fun when you meet the woman of your dreams who has a fear of dogs.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read the first chapter, but it quickly became a fun read. I love cheesy horror movies,p and shifters so the idea of combining the two just became an absolute delight.
A cutesy little read about a wolf shifter who gets convinced by his friend to audition to play a wolf in a movie. When he meets his mate on set things get predictably complicated because she's terrified of dogs.
Lights Camera Werewolf by Zoe Chant. Wolf shifter Louis pretends to be a wolf like dog to get the parting werewolf film. Onset he meets Stephanie who is is fated mate. How can he tell her he is a wolf shifter?
