About the Author

As a money expert, Ken Remsen wrote Get WalletWise to help you become debt free. Unlike many money experts, Ken did not grow up in an affluent home. Ken has seen firsthand the obstacles his family faced with their finances. His family had very little savings and spent borrowed money on unnecessary expenses.

Ken earned a degree in real estate and urban land economics from the University of North Florida by working full time in real estate. He worked during the day and scheduled his classes at college two days a week. He graduated with a four-year degree in three years.

For 3 decades, Ken has studied finance, bought and sold real estate and paid off all personal debt to help create a six-figure stock portfolio. Ken has experience managing and executing a Family Trust.

Ken Dedicates his Service to You
He wants to help you get out of unnecessary debt and reduce your money anxiety. Ken wants you to avoid predatory lending scams, money missteps, and find happiness through living on less that you earn. He wants to teach you how to create positive money habits.

Future Best-Selling Author
Ken has just released his first book, Get WalletWise, the book that summarizes the many money principles Ken recommends.

Resource Filled Website
Ken's fills his website walletwise.org with money resources to help you shop for the best credit card for you, download forms to help you manage your money, reduce your debt and contains a blog walletwise.org/blog with posts that revolve around personal finance.

Besides writing about all things personal finance, Ken enjoys reading, cycling to keep in shape and spending time with his friends in Toastmasters and the Central Florida Guild of the National Speakers Academy.

I enjoy reading finance books, and this one did not disappoint. That being said, however, this book is geared towards those who have never read a book about finances. While that can be good, it wasn't necessarily illuminating for me. And yet, I still learned a few new things.

This may be picking nits, but the typographical and grammatical errors that I found in the book were distracting. The author writes well enough and mistakes are not glaring. Anything more than a few errors is like a drop of food coloring in water for me. I can look forward to the second edition of this book for updates and corrections.

Just remember that this book is not just a resource for financial know-how in itself. The author adds most of his external resources for you to use, too, which is great.

Basic Sound financial advise can be worth a fortune…

Get WalletWise: Proven Personal Finance and Budgeting Tips for Finding Financial Freedom and Living a Debt-Free Life by Ken Remsen and Lee Sloan is a self help book for all people…from the financially illiterate to those with plenty of experience in bad decisions…and everyone in between…

This isn’t a get rich quick scheme book (and actively discourages any such practices), and it also treats you like Ana don’t who might just need some advice to work your way through the hiccups of life and not being overturned with debt and bills…

The book doesn’t talk down to you and goes into a lot of detail on some of the biggest sinkholes in your finances from the expected (vehicle, where you live) to the optional (insurance, as an example) to the unexpected (such as accidents)…

It also covers elements of life that can either positively or negatively affect your financial situation (including gambling substance abuse) while also warning away from predatory lenders. I appreciated his focus on short term loans or other schemes that only lead to significantly higher payouts to cover the debt vs what you originally got out of the transaction.

To be clear, there are several areas that might not apply to you…but a majority of the information is useful and has plenty of references and sources to draw from for further assistance…
