Desperation.

It’s the only thing that Sophie can blame for even considering the offer a stranger makes to her in an elevator. $300,000 to meet him at a hotel every Saturday for three months. It’s insane. It’s not even worth thinking about. Only, she can’t seem to get it, or him, off of her mind.

Yes, she needs the money to pay for her sister’s surgery, but she can’t possibly spend the night with a man she knows nothing about. It doesn’t matter that he’s sexy or that his voice all but promises she’ll leave the hotel room more than satisfied. There's no way she can accept.

And yet, she finds herself knocking on a hotel room door on Saturday night.

This is a standalone erotic romance. No cheating, no cliffhanger, and HEA guaranteed!

WOW! This was this a HOT and STEAMY story. Sophie is the younger sister of two. Her older sister is in the hospital waiting to get a kidney transplant. The hospital won’t even put her on the transplant list until she pays money...a lot of money. Money she doesn’t have. As she is riding on the elevator of the hospital to figure things out…she gets stuck on the elevator with a handsome stranger. She tells this stranger about the reason she was in the hospital to help distract her from panicking in the elevator.

Lawson offers to help her earn the money she needs. She will have to spend Saturdays with him in a hotel room...having the hottest sex known to man. She takes him up on the offer and soon her sister is on the transplant list. But now she has other issues. Sophie is falling for Law, but that wasn’t part of the deal. This was a definite panty melting story. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. I had never read this author before and it was so worth it. She can write some SEXY scenes!

Sophie, the female lead, is desperate to raise money to pay for her sister’s kidney transplant. When she finds herself stuck in a hospital elevator, she pours her story out to Law, the male lead, who is stuck with her. He offers her the money she needs for a few months of Saturdays with him.

As she meets him, she finds herself wanting more than a hook up but that’s not what been offered. Then she realises that Law hasn’t told her everything...

This story is female lead POV, which isn’t my favourite (I prefer dual POV), but, given the ending, I understand why this needed to be the case. The story is well written, and contained very explicit scenes. I enjoyed many secondary characters as well and am curious about whether the author plans to write sequels.

Sophie has a chance encounter with a man on an elevator who offers her $300,000.00 to spend every Saturday night with him for three months in a hotel room. She could use the money for her sister’s surgery but the truth is she wants to do it. Fast-paced read with sizzling scenes, loads of drama and emotion. Great characters and an entertaining story. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it.

I figured I would enjoy this book, but I never expected to love it as much as I did. A bit of an indecent proposal type vibe, Sophie is desperate to find a way to pay for her sister’s badly needed kidney transplant. A chance encounter in an elevator suddenly presents her with everything she needs - $300,000 for three months of Saturday evenings with a sexy stranger. She never dreams she would ever actually agree to something like that, but then something happens that spurs her on to take a leap and go for it.

What I think I found most intriguing, and ultimately appealing about this book, is that this is entirely from Sophie’s POV. And while I absolutely love, and often prefer, multiple POVs, for this one, it adds to the mystery and sexiness. We really know very little about Law. He’s obviously very rich, and very skilled between the sheets. But we have no idea why he would even put forth this proposition, and what is going on in his head. He’s clearly very attracted to Sophie, but there seems to be so much more going on, and it kept me very vested in the story, wanting to find out more. As they continue to have their Saturday flings, Sophie finds herself feeling more than she knows she should, and when secrets are exposed, and the whole thing blows up, it blows up big. But I liked how everything resolved, and the ending was very satisfying.

Another thing I really liked, that was more unique to this book, was that it was all about the steam in the beginning, and the emotional aspect was more the slow burn. There is little to no preamble to their sexual relationship. And it’s more than hot. And as things get hotter, and the emotional aspects start to come into play, the steam still doesn’t let up. Physically, they are very open and communicate very well, emotionally, not so much. But that’s where the deeper development lies. It’s nice that in this case, there’s no delay in the spice to get to the emotion. Definitely a switch up from what you usually would see in a typical contemporary romance, and I loved it.

With the first few sex scenes, my attention waned a little because that's all there was, sex scenes. But if you're looking to read erotica, this is very good. I liked how we had a surprise OTT possessive hero. Lawson was very mysterious, and even though we got to know a bit more of him by the end of the book (I suspected his true career), I wonder if some of his mystery took away from their connection. I have no idea what these two have in common besides sexual chemistry.

Not that we need a justification for a heroine not being a virgin, but I would have liked more background on Sophie. She's young, 22, my age, and she seemed to have a lot of experience, maybe with more things than just sex & men.

I'd be interested to read Charlotte's and Lexa's books.

My first read by this author (who happens to be a new writer)
And what a great first book. And I’m hoping it will become a series as there are so many great characters that need stories 😉

A little pretty woman plot, but with a lot more angst and steam than the film.

Sophie is desperate to give her sister the chance to live, but needs $$$ in order for a kidney operation. But Sophie doesn’t have that type of money!

Told in the perspective of Sophie only (which I was a little disappointed with) but as you get to the twist towards the end, you’ll realise why it’s only Sophie’s POV (point of view)

She meets Lawson Kane in a freak accident, the lift they are both in gets stuck! Striking up a conversation they soon both become aware of the attraction they have for one another. But Sophie never expected an indecent proposal!
Law makes her a monetary offer she simply can’t refuse….. spend Saturday’s with him in exchange for money!

Sophie is at first horrified! But as the week goes by she’s torn between ripping up the business card Law gave her and going through with the transaction!

Needless to say her love for her sister wins out, and Sophie visits Law in the hotel room he has booked…..

It soon become more than a quickie in a hotel room, Sophie falls in love, and Law reciprocates. Sophie is overjoyed, her sister will get the help that’s needed, and she’s now got a new man in her life…..

But an incident has Sophie seeing Law in a new light. And she heartbroken with the information she finds out!

Can Law win Sophie back? Will she forgive him?

It’s a quick instalove story that I fell in love with. The characters are great. The support she gets from her friend and sister is what makes this a really good story, she has people around her who support her and make her see things in a different way.
A tried and tested plot is used, but with a few twists that kept it interesting.

Sometimes you do what you need to for those you love Sophie loves her sister who is in need of a kidney transplant, but we all know those cost money she doesn’t have and of course she has no insurance to pay for a 270,000 surgery. While heading home on the elevator (it gets stuck) she meets a mysterious man. Lawson sexy as all get out mysterious man with an option (indecent proposal) for her requesting her time, mind, and body every Sat. for three months making enough money to cover her sister’s surgery. Sophie’s first reaction is anger but the more she thought about it the money he offered could help her sister have a normal life and she is still horrified by his request but mostly because of how it makes her feel. In the end she loves her sister enough to sacrifice a few Sat. of time, mind, and body. Once the decision is made she shows up for something that was suppose to be two strangers enjoying each other’s time for only a moment but fate had other things planned like love but will it work out as fate planned and will herself get better?

Ok. The truth is this book isn't really five stars. It's more like four and three-quarters or maybe four and seven-eighths. I read the second book in the series, Control, first and it is true perfection. But honestly if I had read Desperation first I would have given it five stars and then tried to give Control ten so I stand by this five star rating.

Desperation is a really great story. I loved Law & Sophie and their obvious chemistry from the start. It was so apparent from the first meeting that he already had feelings for her that he was fighting. I loved how he kept trying to push her to admit she wanted more.

I believe if Sophie had refused his initial offer he would have paid for Charlotte's operation and chased after her a different way. I think she accepted more because she truly desired him than for the money. I think the money gave her the excuse she needed to jump into bed with him from the start. She even admitted she was attracted to him in the elevator. So it doesn't bother me at all that he used the money to convince her to sleep with him. He never truly meant to hurt her. Deep down he knew damn well she was never going to be temporary.

I also loved getting to know Charlotte and Lexa so well and I really, really wish I had read this book first. Book two, Control, would have been even better than it was, if that's even possible. The dynamics between the two sisters especially wasn't as defined in Control, probably because the author expects them to be read in order. Also even though they discuss Charlotte's surgery in Control I never realized just how sick she had been and what they really went through. It made me realize just how brave she was. All three girls have more humor to them in this book but that makes sense. Control is a much more intense story. Desperation is more traditional of a romance story. But don't be fooled by that. It's still a very adult book with plenty of steamy, explicit sex. I thought my Kindle was going to melt a few times!

Jade is a new author to me and to many of you I am sure. I can already tell she's going to be great and after just these two books I have put her on my new favorite authors list. I plan to read the third book when it comes out. (I'm crossing my fingers on who it will be about.) Do yourself a favor, though, read the books in order. It will make each one that much better.

Sophie is doing everything she can to take care of her sister Charlotte who needs a kidney transplant. The problem is that she has no insurance and it will cost 260,000 for the surgery. She meets Lawson in the hospital elevator and he give her a proposition to spend time with him every Saturday for three months for 300,000 dollars. This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. It is hard to take at the beginning the relationship between Sophie and Law. She struggles with her emotions and how to move forward with them. Things hit a rocky road and we seem some emotional times between them both. This story has you hoping for a HEA right from the beginning. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and you feel like you know how Sophie is feeling dealing with all the hard times with her sister. She is strong and determined to make everything work. You really end up loving both the hero and heroine in this story. It has a wonderful ending.

Intriguing . . .

Sophie’s sister needs a kidney transplant. Then to her surprise, a random meeting in an elevator provides her the means of finding the money she needs. A stranger asks her to meet him each Saturday for three months and he will pay her $300,000. She argues with herself about whether she could allow herself to do this. But she is desperate, with no other options. So she goes to his room . . .

The mystery here is what draws the reader in. Why would Lawson make such an offer? Is there more going on? And as the relationship between Sophie and Lawson progressed, we were waiting for the proverbial “other shoe to drop” and find out some huge secret. How far will this journey take them? This one does not disappoint.

Sophie is in a situation that no one wants to be in. She needs money to save her sister's life. She doesn't know how to get her and her sister out of this hole. In a chance encounter in an elevator, she meets Lawson. A handsome man that offers her $300,000 for her time on Saturday for three months on a whim.

This was such a hot read!! 🖤🔥🖤 Whew! It was a fast paced burning the house down kind of hot!

At first, I didn't know what to make of Lawson. What kind of man would proposition a stranger? When we get to know him, I realized that he has many layers to him. The alpha, the caretaker, the jerk. He ends up being a fabulous character that I loved! Sophie was such a strong person and everything seemed believable in this story. I would totally do what I had to do for my sister. She didn't let Lawson run her over and stood up for herself.

If this is how Jade Dare's future books are going to be sign me up! I can't wait for the next one! 🖤

Desperation is an incredibly sensual read that starts with the female lead Sophie in desperate need for money to help with her sister’s declining health. Somehow she is stuck in an elevator with a devilishly handsome guy, Lawson, and ends up spilling her heart out about her desperation to him. One thing lead to another and the rest is history. A history full of exquisite sexual moments on an emotional roller coaster with a possessive and jealous man in a “manic sort of need” for Sophie. The ending was perfect and gave me hope for more stories to involving the side characters of Desperation down the line.

I do not have words for this book! All the smut was just what I needed. It was fantastic and still had a plot that sucked me in and did not let me go. This book did take me on a bit of an emotional journey but I love how open everything was at the end. I am so hoping my other two girls get exactly what they are looking for. If you love an obsessed MMC who will do anything for the FMC, all the steam and smut, an amazing story line then this is the book for you!

I really enjoyed this new author! Desperation proved to be a quick and steamy read. It follows the formula of a billionaire helping a woman in need of money in exchange for time with her. It just works so well! I loved how the relationship between Sophie and Lawson progressed as well as the side characters that we'll hopefully see more of. I'm excited to see what else this author publishes down the line!

Jade Dare brings us a quick moving romance with lots of fun banter, fun and sassy secondary characters and plenty of what the book promises to deliver. So get out your fan because Lawson's got a dirty mouth and knows how to use it and Sophie well she's not much better.
But can these two keep things on the course their agreement states or will they mess it up?

Books like this one are what I call my favorite kind of "palate cleanse." I seek them out when I've read too many historical romances and thriller novels because they tend to be exactly as they seem - an implausible storyline with some gratuitous smut & wrapped up with a happily ever after.

And that is exactly what this one was.

Sophie has given up on her dreams of going to school in order to work a dead-end job as a waitress (the tips are good according to her), in order to hope to raise the money her sister needs in order to get on the transplant list for a new kidney. As luck would have it, the elevator happens to break down at the same time she and an "extremely hot" (her words not mine) guy is. They have a brief exchange of words, at which time he offers to pay her $300,000 (more than the amount she needs) in exchange for her spending every Saturday for the next 3 months with him. Oh, and she gets to pick what hotel they stay at. How can she resist?

Of course, they have an amazing time together & yadda yadda yadda. Now here is where I deducted stars from the overall rating. To begin with there were some minor grammatical errors throughout. Nothing too bad, but things I felt should have been caught even if the author was editing their own work. Those I could easily overlook. What I couldn't overlook was the fact that they (Sophie especially) started talking about having feelings and being in love with someone they knew nothing about. Even when they started communicating more than just once a week, they still didn't take the time to really get to know one another. That's not love, that's lust.

And of course, once they do spend some time really getting to know one another, the truth about who Lawson is comes out and she absolutely loses her mind. I get it, she was shocked to learn who he was. HOWEVER. That day they met in the elevator? He told her he was there on business. When they spoke about his family? He told her his family owned medical facilities. He even knew the name of the woman who worked in finance who had given her such a hard time. Not once did he lie to her, yet she still chose to believe that he did. Even when he showed up for her, when he sent food to her and her sister, she still wanted to make him out to be a bad guy for far too long. I get it, stories need drama, but there was no reason this argument needed to drag on for as long as it did.

However, that truth or dare game towards the end? Perfectly set up the next books in this series, and I enjoyed this one just enough to give those ones (and the three extra novellas that have also been published) a shot.

I honestly really liked the book. It was very interesting. I'm all about slightly stalkery lovers. But I honestly think there was a little confusion that lead to their break up. The whole thing about his job at the hospital...I honestly, with my very much alive heart, thought he told her about his job when the whole Stephanie person came up. There were moments I didn't know who was saying what.
Plus there were also grammatical errors in the story. It wasn't messed up to the point where I couldn't figure out what you were trying to say; just saying that I notice things like that (I'm glad I did considering I'm an editor and I like things to be perfect).
It was very steamy and I loved the fact that it opened my mind to new sexual adventures. The cake scene was something else! Pure gold!
Considering the book was a one-sided POV, I felt like there wasn't enough character description when it came to the most important people in her life. It was all about Law and his sex appeal. When it comes to the MC describing other characters, like what they look like, it enhances what the character is feeling for a person. It's like in describing them it attaches to a certain feeling. Basically saying, "This feeling I'm feeling is this person and everything that comes with them."
This is the first book I've read by Jade Dare and I do plan to read the others and the next wants to come because I believe that Jade Dare can only go up from here.

So this was an interesting book. I thought it super cute although it had a hard time keeping my attention at times. You know when you read a fiction book, you expect the things happening there to be pretty unbelievable. Understandable. However, a man offering you $300,000 in an elevator for you to sleep with him every Saturday for the next three months? Now, that, I don’t understand. And of course, your sister is dying and needs a kidney and you can’t get her on the list because she doesn’t have insurance and you can’t figure out a way to pay for her surgery. But all of the sudden this mysteriously gorgeous man comes out of nowhere and offers you money--you can’t take it, can you? And once you do accept, you never ask him any questions? You’re not worried he has a wife, a girlfriend? Nothing? That's suspicious--that’s weird. But anyway, I digress. I would read this if you want an entertaining quick read. I enjoyed her sister more than I did her honestly, but nothing too bad. I do think the other two books on the series would be better in terms of the topic of the relationships, but I’m not sure because I’m not planning to continue the series.

Sophie, Sophie. Are you sure you want to play these games with me? I warn you now that I always win.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had a love/hate relationship with Sophie throughout the story. I love her dedication to her sister and all that she did and would continue to do for her but her whole hang up and anger revolving Law owning the hospital seemed a bit childish to me. It was unrealistic to assume he’d just be able to do anything she wanted just because he owned the hospital. I understand from a very narrow perspective where she was coming from but the fact that she couldn’t see past that for soooo long was irritating to me.

As for Law…. I really don’t see what he did being like sooooo wrong. I really liked him and like how he wanted so badly to prove to Sophie through not just his words, but actions, that he was dedicated to her and loved her.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book from the Meet Me In The Dark series is about Sophie and Law. She is in need of money for the transplant her sister needs. He is willing to pay for her time if it is spent alone with him at a hotel. Sophie is intrigued enough to accept. Their relationship is steamy from the beginning while feelings grow. There is more to this man that she knows. Law and Sophie were perfect for each other.

I read this last night and... I should have gone to sleep because although it was entertaining, it wasn't enough for me to go to bed so late.
I get the "fantasy" aspect of the mystery guy solving your problems for one night of sexy times but... she never asks him anything. Like "are you married? Engaged? Have a gf? Or an std?" Idk something!
I get this can be read more so as erotica but I needed more.
I liked the sister tho. She was fun.
As much as I wanted to like this one I just meh.
