Trees and Truth

Rate this book
"The trees spoke up with truths,
that we found ourselves searching for every chance to listen."

Trees & Truths, a poetry collection that will guide us to exist in the presence of nature (knowing trees), and to become who we truly are with self-acceptance (finding truths). Both the knowledge on trees and the discovery on truths (while we dive into Trees & Truths), will bring forth the concept of growth, that will allow us to see what it means to seek self-assurance when surrounded by nature and/or society.

Trees & Truths, is a book that reflects itself upon nature and the truth. As each poem conveys society to accept both (nature's values and the truth) discarding the lies mankind spreads, in order to seek growth/renewal.

The day the trees begin to speak,
will be the day we learn their truths.

Like two branches of the same tree growing in opposite directions, both our lies and truths experience the same core, but spin and weave differently.

Just as a tree will grow thick scars to protect itself when its trunk or limbs are wounded, we too must discard the lies that ripples us from knowing our truths.

Only if mankind knew how to accept and speak the truth, the world would become a better place to breathe in.

I will try not to be biased since I was part of this beautiful project by Anntonette.
I read some of the poems as they were coming along, but to see everything put together was a true beautiful surprise. The book is a beautiful compilation of Anntonette's work.
I believe that Anntonette's style shifts throughout the book in order to accommodate the ideas, themes, and imagery of the specific poem.
I must admit I am not a big poetry reader, but I enjoyed this collection of poems incredibly. I loved the different ways she plays with words, the different kind of rhythms, the more musical poems, the more story-telling poems... I appreciate the variety showcased in the book.
Do I have favorites? I absolutely do, and they are all different from each other in terms of style.
First of all "The Rose Garden" like a short story within a poem. Descriptive and full of feeling.
Next, and I believe one of the most impacting poems of this collection is: "Silence", just a couple of lines. But what a message in those lines. I have never thought of that before, and how true it is.
Thirdly, I will leave with one of my favorite verses in the whole book just for future readers to get a taste of what you will find.
This is part of the poem: "Blue-Red"

"I saw mints of hue in the sky
with tints of blue that when I cry;
my wail from today to tomorrow
turns pale to gray with such sorrow,
and my veins will reveal
dry stains of teal."

A wonderful and intriguing read. I audibly gasped when I read "Sometimes we have to shatter the mirror within us, to see all of the pieces that makes us beautiful." So much truth and beauty in that line and throughout the book as well.

This book of poetry will exceed any of your expectations. It is raw to come across a young poetic talent as gifted as Anntonette Jackson. He imagery is vivid and her prose is impeccable. You will feel emotions you didn’t know you had, once you read the lines kept safely within this book.

I highly recommend you purchase a hardcopy for you library or book collection.

Sincerely,
Eros

PS Anntonette, you are beautiful beyond description but I shall try it someday in a poem. I love you 🫶
