This series is just messed up. This second book in this series told from the point of view of the 10 year girl in the story which is hard to do and Sea Caummisar does it well the concept and story kick ass... I can't wait to dive into the next one. The one thing I will say is that I thought it'd be more gory but just the pure fucked up nature of this story makes up for it because you just keep turning the pages gore or not. 4.5 stars for me on this one. This story keeps building and getting more intense bring on book 3.
This one was just as fucked up as the first, if not more.. I’m thinking more. After this one I’m not 100% sure if I want to continue the series. I might just try one more book but this one definitely had me making some ‘what the actual fuck’ faces (even more than the first)
In this one we now get the story through the eyes of 10 year old Deicide and because she is now older and in school, she understands more of what’s happening in and around her life.
These books are definitely not for someone who just wants a fun short horror book because they’re so much more than that and not in a good way..
TW’s: Rape, child abuse, pedophilia, animal cruelty, gore, murder, blood, kidnapping, confinement, cannibalism For more extensive trigger warnings please check websites such as Storygraph to keep yourself safe!
not sure why I even started this series cos it’s grim.. not an extreme horror reader but kept seeing it everywhere. see how far into the series I can get tho
Deicide is so kind hearted, I hate to see these things happen to her.... So sad 😔 This is just going from sad to bad to disturbing to horribly disgustingly worse.... I have to say, I want to see Deicide's bully get hurt tho..... Bullying is close to home... Hate bullys... Kids are so horribly mean to one another.
Stuff Deicide's dad put out for her that she may want to use to TORTURE HER BULLY 😮😮🤯🤯😳😳: A knife, a hammer, a screwdriver, pruning sheers, a NAIL GUN & A CHEESE GRATER..... a fuckng cheese grater..... 😱😱 😳 Poor Judy's death wasn't pretty. She's the bully..... Poor Deicide needs mental help and she's honestly probably beyond help now ALREADY. Deicide's dad needs a tortuous murder...along with his mom. Her first tho... I'm scared for Tickles in the next book...
May Read: Raised by A Killer Age 10 Book #2 by Sea Caummisar ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Once again, check trigger warnings ⚠️. So unhinged, but I couldn't put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. From age 4 to age 10, you can start to see the changes mentally taking place. Decide is 10 now and is being taught more complex things. She’s getting to help out more and become more involved in the process of things. Does Decide know right from wrong....yes, but what do you do when this is all you know.
Utterly disturbing but couldn't put it down. To see the evolution from age 4 to 10 is astounding. Note to self, don't try to snack while reading this...lost appetite several times.
I'm curious to see how this little show of power will format the next stage.
Read Trigger/Content warnings. No morally gray, unless brains...nevermind...no HEA, definitely more on the extreme side!!! Read with caution.
This series is building to be freaking awesome!! The story is still being told from a fairly simple view as deicide is still growing up an only 10 years old but you can already see how she's growing up is effecting her. Really enjoying this series and love the writers style!
Raised By A Killer, Age 10, is a story that could have lept straight out of the pages of Kick-Ass, with one slight revision: Big Daddy has been replaced by Pops, a BTK cannibal.
Because the story is written from the point of view of a little girl (think Hit Girl), it is unique. I certainly haven't read anything like it, and it does a great job at answering that age old question, nature or nurture, as our little heroine descends into madness.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and that has everything to do with the quality of writing. This is only my third book by Sea Caummisar, but it definitely won't be my last. The writing is so good that it is easy to dismiss the story's biggest flaw. There is no Splatterpunk version of Red Mist. No villian. No antagonist - and because of this, the story is very predictable. There is an inner conflict, but it is easily overcome. The story is fast paced, but it lacks tension. Thus, there are no surprises. Mostly, it is well written 'torture for the sake of torture,' with the added shock value of featuring such a small girl-child, which for a seasoned splatterpunk reader, isn't enough. I need plot. The redeeming element, is that she is believable, and for a writer who isn't regilularly around children, that is commendable.
As I go into the next book, I hope to see some real conflict, and a few plot twists would be nice. This book was impossible to put down, and I think the series has a lot of potential.
Sea Caummisar’s prose flows seamlessly from one book to the next, with a progressively disturbing sort of intrigue. A child’s point of view in an extreme horror novel isn’t easy to do, but Caumisar SLAYS the game, building off of her previous work, and building up her story by leaving two new questions for every burning question she entices the reader with…I’m going to burn through these the way most folks binge a show on Netflix… except writing leaves way more room for creativity. The tongue slice/boiling soup scene at the start of this absolute GEM turned my stomach and scorched my esophagus as well as my epiglottis. I could FEEL it reading it. The stark visuals painted by this author are unparalleled, and the psychological implications are JUST AS BAD as the elaborately decorated gore scenes. The premise of this series is nothing short of BRILLIANT. I am HERE for it. The themes reach new heights in the supplementation of the drama of school aged children as an additional risk factor, and we continue to experience the competing themes of our main character, who is trapped somewhere between victim and offender. Rich reoccurring themes in the question of whether or not morality is a thing that is taught, or something that comes as second nature…
All of this said… the stark visuals provided are NOTHING, if not DISTURBING
What an intense and thought-provoking read. Deicide has clearly matured, and the growth between the first and second book is striking. She is now older, more self-aware, and much of the innocence that defined her in the first installment has faded.
One of the most notable changes was her evolving relationship with Tickles. Once her most cherished companion, he gradually becomes a burden—more of a “responsibility” than a source of comfort. This shift makes me wonder how it will influence the storyline moving forward. Could this be a glimpse into what awaits in Book 3?
Now onto Book 3…

Decide is 10 now and is being taught more complex things. She’s getting to help out more and become more involved in the process of things.
She’s old enough to know right from wrong BUT she doesn’t know that the way her family lives is wrong because that’s all she knows.
Judy is an asshole, sure, but she definitely did not deserve what happened to her! Decide is getting fed up with Tickles having basic needs so I hope she doesn’t hurt him or neglect him.
enjoyed this one more than the first. however, there were wayyyy too many grammatical and spelling errors through the entire book. this would be different if it were, let's say, Deicide's diary. But it's not and it was hard to overlook.
Yikes just as chilling as the first one, if not more. This young girl has lost all her innocence and will be interested to see if this family gets caught at some point in the next books.
This book is seriously fucked. Yet I still kept reading. Does that make me fucked? Probably. Whatever. It’s interesting seeing the girl get older and how she picks up on her father’s actions, etc. I’m really curious how the rest of this series is going to play out since we’ve already seriously advanced in the whole idea of taking after her dad. Definitely not a light read and way worse than the first book.
Also, the grammar mistakes and typos are kind of annoying. Easy catches and careless mistakes for sure.
Book 2 enters the child's brain and her understanding more of what her father does. Doesn't explain more of why but we get more of an idea into there being something wrong with the story of this girl's mother and "Graps".
The concept of the bullying was a bit boring but Sea even comments on this being part of her process of getting to where the story needs to go. So, credit where credits earned.
This book was a lot less (basically non existent) for dog abuse which was nice to say the least. This one didn't grab me as much as the first but....
Overall, I think that the voice of Deicide at age four and age ten are far too similar. Another major issue I have with this series so far besides repetitiveness is that it should have been told in first person. We get what's going on from the third person narration and then it's immediately repeated to us in Deicide's thoughts. If this was more neatly written I feel that the first couple of books in the series could have been condensed into longer and fewer books. I think I might read a bit of the next book out of curiosity, but I don't think I'll continue on with the series as a whole.
Book 2 of 10 in the series and it just keeps getting more and more wild. If you’re into splatterpunk or extreme horror books I highly recommend this series so far. Once again kidnapping torture and cannibalism remain consistent themes this far but it takes wild turn. I am so happy a stumbled author Sea Caummisar.
Growing up a bit more and at school Decider have more responsibilities. But somehow this one not as shocking as the first one maybe because you already know and expect the gore. Nothing much else was revealed so maybe it’s nothing exciting. Will continue and see what happens
