This was a DNF for me. Chapter one had the weirdest kiss that came out of nowhere and made me cringe (as did the FMC). Chapter two was as bland as could be, and he'd just arrived home after 10 years of seeing his home and his mother and it was all very bland. Not for me.
Fraser has finally returned home to take his role as laird after 10 years away. To his dismay his mother has betrothed him to Beitris Gordon, a woman he has never met. His mother is acting strangely. Neither he nor Beitris is happy about this union but it is unavoidable. Then strange things start happening. There is someone who looks just like Fraser causing havoc with Beitris and his clan. What is this man up to? This is a great story full of action, suspense, twists, and strong characters.
A Lie buried in deception. A True romance building. Secrets all around. No one to Trust. A story with so much going on you can not put this one down. Beitris and Fraser Laird McClery were betrothed by there parents. Never meeting neither was happy about the arrangement. There first meeting is something to remember and sets there Journey off. A wonderful chemistry is established between the too that makes this a beautiful love story. A definite winner .
Lady Beitris had been engaged to Hendry, Laird of the Clan Dunbar, but she only loved him as a brother. Now she is being told that she was to marry. Fraser, Laird of the MacClery Clan. AND THEY HAD NEVER EVEN MET!! When she arrived at the MacClery castle, she finds the man who had been very forward with her only two weeks earlier is to be her new husband. This book in full of great characters, love, betrayal and danger. It was really hard to put down. In my opinion this is one of the best that Ms. Thompson has written
I thought this was basically a good story but there were a lot of things I thought off. I didn't understand how Beitris could be so scared of the imposter but still wander outside the castle without a care. Why Fraser didn't defend himself more, or why he didn't just question his mom, why he would take guards that he'd never seen before to rescue her dad.
Another fantastic read Shona. Beitris and Fraser’s story was a great story with twists and turns in it ,betrayal and a double causing trouble.A betrothal that the couple didn’t want. All in all another story that captures the essence of all the characters in this read. And the Extended Epilogue was a great finish .Look forward to your next book Shona.
Evil Laird? Beitris has been betrothed to Laird Fraser, though they've never met. Neither are happy about the commitment. Their meeting sets off a chain reaction of events. Okay quick read read. Beitris and Fraser were too often back and forth with their feelings; Lady Helga was bland. Scott, Hendry and others were more solid characters. The story peaked towards the end.
Shona Thompson has written a story that contains amazing characters along with suspense, deception and danger. Beitris and Fraser are to be married, which has been decided by their parents. Unfortunately there are many issues that need to be resolved before that can happen.
Betris is betrothed to Frazier and there is a mystery as Frazier has a look a like that does things to hurt others The couple fall in love and vow to fight the enemy The characters are strong and brave. There are surprises but a good and well written story
Fraser is a new laird following sudden death of his father and finding himself suddenly betrothed to Beatrix. Her father is kidnapped after leaving her to go save his own castle. Beatrix tells Fraser she met someone looking like him. Fraser is kidnapped while trying to rescue her father. HEA
This book is amazing! A thrilling story full of danger, betrayal and love. Beitris was once betrothed to Hendry, the Laird of Clan Dunbar, but since she loved him as a brother, she stepped aside so that he could marry for love. Now her father is determined to marry her off and the lucky man is Fraser, the Laird of Clan MacClery. But this is no easy tale and there is trouble afoot. Beitris has met Fraser before and he was very forward with her. The Fraser she meets at the castle looks the same but is very different. And she will fall for him. But danger lurks around every turn and a MacClery family secret threatens to ruin them all.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Wow! I so enjoyed reading Beatrice’s story. Colorful characters, great country descriptions as well as those nasty Black Stag villains. A definite must read. Keep writing.
