I started reading this book because my mom left it at my house - I really enjoy the book until the end. I think the story fell flat with the ‘we are family and love each other no matter what’ ending. I loved the grandmas story of becoming an author in the 50s and being a woman in the workforce & pregnant out of wedlock. I thought the granddaughters story was more boring and the character was annoying - I just hated that the family went to court and then just dropped it. The book was interesting enough and a quick paced read!

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing that bothered me was the grammar mistakes. I’m not sure if this book was proofread by a human. When Pearl talks about selling the mill. I’m sure she didn’t mean to sale the mill. I’m not the grammar police but there were enough mistakes that should have been caught.
