Mindy's best friend Molly was a maintenance technician on the Bradbury 12. When Molly went missing, Mindy started looking for answers but all she found were more questions. They were supposed to meet up at Geniuscon, a science fiction convention that attracts people from every walk of life, and she knows Molly's son Aidan is going to be there. Determined to get in touch with her friend, Mindy tracks down Aidan and meets some of his new friends, the guys cosplaying as big, blue aliens. The first time he heard her voice, Alvola knew Mindy was the one. It didn't matter that he couldn't understand the language or touch her skin, the sound of her voice made his body sing. Determined to meet his mate, Alvola volunteers for the mission to Earth to pick up Aidan and meet with the scientists and engineers that will be their first official contacts with humanity. When Alvola actually meets Mindy in person, his mission becomes to keep her by his side, no matter the cost.
2 stars. Here's the thing... I really liked this book for a while. It had a lot of secondary characters getting together, the hero and heroine were both rather likable, and the storyline wasn't too bad.
BUT THEN... THE HEROINE STABS THE HERO AND IT'S TREATED LIKE NBD. And what made it worse? The heroine was a victim of abuse in the past herself. So now, instead of learning to only use violence in self-defense, she has become a domestic abuser herself. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I couldn't believe what I was reading.
Just to give a few more details: The heroine learns that the hero is already "married" to OW. Without getting clarification or asking any questions, she lashes out and stabs the hero. He's bruised when he is restrained when he tries to follow after her to explain. They eventually talk long enough for them to agree to go to the med bay to treat his injuries. He wants to keep his scar from the stab wound because he's proud of her..... 🤯🤯🤯🤯 ... and she wants the doctor to leave the bruises because she wants to be able to press them to hurt him more.... 🤬🤬🤬🤬 WHAT A CRAZY, ABUSIVE BITCH. Ofc, it turns out that he's "married" in name only because of some issues on his planet that ended up with his "wife" actually being a better match for his cousin. Anyways, it would have been illegal for him to refuse her or something, so they just lied about the whole thing.
This whole part of the story just DESTROYED the book for me. What a mess. And the next book doesn't seem any better tbh, since the heroine of that book is complaining that getting the micronanos that help heal internal injuries, but she doesn't want her eyesight or her strawberry mark fixed. She's just too attached to having bad vision, I guess. I'm sorry, but what a dumb storyline.
Safety in this one is fine; no others, no virgins, heroine has a shady past where she was using her body in exchange for places to stay and later became a stripper. TW: domestic violence.

As much as I wanted to like this book, I couldn't. The story line starts slow, the conflict is no where to be seen (unless you count humans learning aliens are visiting Earth and that possibly causing a negative reaction), and I couldn't figure out why characters described with specific personality traits were doing the things they did. I'm okay with insta attraction, but characters who use no common sense or improbable thinking/reactions are a turnoff. (Trying to avoid spoilers.)
I made it through 34%, 90 pages. Didn't connect with either the hero or heroine. My favorite character, based on personality alone, is Aiden...the 18-year old. He's the most reasonable character in the group, and that's says something.
I read the first one in the series, so I knew going in that Insta-lust turns into insta-love in a hot minute, and the depth of the characters felt mediocre. However, in this one i felt we went from pushing my believability to just annoyingly ‘why would that character do that?
This book was so convoluted because the storyline, all of the characters who belonged to whom, violence, etc. I was excited to read the rest of the series but I think I’ll move to something else.
I think I enjoyed book 2 more than book one. I loved getting to know more about the alien planet they came from. I also really liked Mindy and the reason she is called Mindy was funny and down right cute.
I didn't hate this and I would've rated it 3 stars if it weren't for one ridiculous scene.
SPOILER AHEAD
When she finds out he already has a mate, she is so overcome with heartbreak and anger that she stabs him and runs away. Immediately after that, all he had to do is pin her to the ground and kiss her before she's 100% willing to hear him out, waiting for him to get around to it while they mosey along, arms wrapped around each other, visiting the doctor (because she, you know, STABBED him) , taking separate showers, getting dressed, making tea and then SHE tells him more about her history explaining why being the other woman is so upsetting to her.
THE AUTHOR WROTE IN THE WOMAN HAVING TO DEFEND HERSELF FOR BEING HURT BY CREATING A WHOLE SONG AND DANCE BACK STORY! I'm sorry, finding out you're the other woman isn't enough? Why does she have to justify her feelings. He doesn't care that she stabbed him since it was written into their sex/ relationship contact that she could stab him if he took things too far. Actually, he finds it sexy.
And then he gives a perfectly sweet and lovely story about not actually having a mate, only on paper, to protect his cousin. This all could have been avoided if he A) told his sweet story and had her fall for him even quicker or B) not shame-faced and silent, just nodded when she asked if it were true!
Just...bollocks, this scene was stupid beginning to end. Egads, but the misogyny in this series!

As much as I enjoyed the story, there's too many things going on at once. I don't like the fact that more romances are introduced to a single book, or that all of the initial main characters friends end up matched up with an alien. At this point it seems like all humans match all members of this alien race and it's just a matter of who touches that human first. I'd like to see a little more surprise in who matches up with who, and not as much overlap. I find myself struggling to be interested in the next book because I already know half of their story.
4&12 terrific🌟s for book 2 of the Alien Brides series!
This second book in th series is about Alvola the engineer of the spaceship that crashed I to the space station in the first book. While trying to figure out earth tech he came across a message from one of Molly's friends that stirred his recognition. He becomes a huge part of the crew that is going down to earth to retrieve Molly's son. When he meets Mindy his whole world changes. Mindy is Molly's best friend and she's worried e sick about her. When she finds out Molly is okay and she's going to get to meet her new friends she's skeptical but excited. The minute she meets Alvola at the Geniuscon they can barely keep their hands off one another. Recognition becomes all consuming. When the crew and to return to the shop they take several women and Molly s son with them. Alvola will spend the rest of his life trying to convince Mindy to stay with him and let him love her. It's a beautifuk, sweet and sexy story. Both have some series baggage that has damaged them. But both want and need the growing love and passion between them. Well worth the read and I can't wait to see what happens I the next book💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I think this is going to be a fun series! I love the dialogues between characters, the world building, and aghhhhh!!! I need the rest of the books. There’s no nonsense here. Even if it’s sci-fi, who would think aliens 👽 would go to a sci-fi convention! 😂 By the stars!✨ I need this series eternally downloaded. Great 👍🏽 narration.
Haven’t been writing reviews in a while. I’m currently distracted listening preview for next one. Had to say how much i enjoyed it so far. I didn’t simply giggle. This one had me fully laughing out loud. 🛸✨
The characters expanded with a trip on the shuttle from the Ship to earth to attend a Convention to get Molly’s son and go back to the Ship. More earth people return on the shuttle and more become partners. The story ends with the crew negotiating to fix the damage done to the space station. More to come in the next installment. We learned more about the corruption in the mating system on their world and how it is leading to the destruction of their species. Very interesting world building.
I have to say this 2nd book in the series was quite boring compared to the first book. To me although there is instant lust between Alvola and Mindy the whole book I thought their relationship was flat not much heat. I do recommend reading this book because there is a lot of things going into the crew trying to repair the space station the ship crashed into plus a lot of characters were introduced. I will continue the series because over all the story interests me.
A little deeper than the average sci-fi romance, and closer to sci-fi with romance dropped in.
A look at first contact with a new species, a compatible species, and some of the communication problems that may crop up, both between the different societies from the same planet, and between the different species. Well written and thoughtful beyond what I expected from the title. I will be acquiring the rest of the series.
This book made me laugh and smile. Small amount of angst that was quickly resolved. It really was a jaw drop moment. You really need to read the book to understand the beauty of this story. And just the right amount of sexy time. Love the continuing arc. Now, anxiously awaiting next book.
The romance between these two characters was hot and sweet. I liked the fact that the hero was so determined to abduct the heroine, but he was super sneaky about it. That made me laugh. The world building could have been better, honestly. That part was disappointing. However, the characters were so charming that I enjoyed it despite that.
I loved this story, has action-adventure, is a refreshing approach to the Mars Needs Women troupe and I’m looking forward to the next book. The only reason I did not give this book a 5 stars review was the grammar issues. Knowing when to use Your vs you are (you’re) is my biggest pet peeves
Most enjoyable story line. Well written. Great fun explaining to the Aliens that not all Humans think that they, the Aliens are out to conquer and experiment on the people of Earth. A few love matches thrown in to the mix didn't hurt either. So looking forward to the next book in the series.
Alcoa and Mindy’s story is loaded with humor, joy, and Chuckle, lots of Recognition!!! The plot moved right along, making the novel one you don’t want to put down. It is also enjoyable that CV Walter has heroines of different ages (older), different sizes, and from different backgrounds that have formed the heroine into a strong likable person.
I like that we get the friends involved and they all know each other. I also love the absolute humour and ridiculousness of Alien's pretending to be in cosplay at a convention. There is also a whole lot unintentional kidnapping and mating.
I like that this book has an alien women with a human man pairing. I wanna read that story! It looks like I might have to wait a few books for that though. I also want the teenage sons story because the more I read him the more I want to know!
It will be interesting to see how the series plays out the aliens and humans meeting. There is already established nefarious parties and things being kept hidden. It makes you wonder what secrets could be uncovered.
Both couples in this series so far have kept a relatively level head about things and shown a mutual curiosity in each others culture that I really like. We don't necessarily get MORE information but there are more references to the alien's politics and motivations.
I like that the 'angst' at the end is short... and entertaining for once! She get's angry but lets him explain and he does and it it's a good explanation so they can move on without any more secrets and a greater understanding of each other.
Many things can happen at a space age convention but meeting actual aliens is probably not normal. More humans ended up on the ship than were originally set for but who's keeping track. Fun read!
This book was incredible! It flowed so much better that the first one, much smoother. There were some grammatical errors however they really didn't have much of an impact on the story. It was still easily understood. Can't wait for the next book in the series!
I'm actually still reading, but I'm loving this series so far. I HAD to make a review now though. My girl Mindy is wearing these pants and THEY HAVE ACTUAL POCKETS! Big enough for some kind of knife. This is how you know it's fantasy, not the aliens, the pockets. ❤❤❤❤❤
I have really enjoyed both books in the series. The drama is external to the relationships and the angst is on the low side. I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of the relationships evolve as well as the reveal to earth.
Mindy is a tiny person who packs a punch. She's a nurse who can take down someone twice her size, especially with her stabbies. This is quite the love story and a must read. I recommend reading the series in order.
This book wasn't as awesome as the first book but we will see how the series pans out. It'll be interesting to see how everything turns out with contacting the space station and getting communication going between the humans overall and the aliens.
I'm loving this series. I especially love the humor & practical solutions. I admire the fact the women don't try to over think the bond. This is light hearted, interesting, alien, sexy & fun.
This story is about a group if aliens working with humans to make first contact. The cast of characters are very interesting and it is a continuation of the first book. The story line is ingenious and keeps me interested from beginning to end. Good read.
Alvola and Mindy, soulmates, drama, humor and so much love and tenderness. Once again another awesome story. Molly gets her best friend and her son to come to her since she is not allowed to travel and Alvola and Mindy find that link!
I loved this book. I got more depth into the series. These books just keep getting better. The additional characters added in this book were great. Can’t wait to see what happens next. Good writer
