This is a great new series by Rachel Blake and Amilia Quinn. The book starts off slow, but it is that way for a specific purpose; the background information that we need to understand before we get to the meat of the story. Ellie, Millie and Stan (Constance) are cousins that grew up together. They also have William, who came into their lives when they were all young and became part of the group. The girls lost their mothers in car accident when they were young. They still had their fathers (except Stan) and they were all raised by their Gran as well. I loved Gran, she reminds me of my grandma, a woman who tells it like it is!
This book focuses on Ellie. She loses her father and she turns to Freddy, a minister, to console her. She finds religion and, she becomes the pastor's wife. They have a Domestic discipline relationship, but it isn't satisfying all her needs like she had before when she had a dom. Freddy is abusive to my mind (and her cousins') and Ellie defends him to all.
The plot picks up quickly and I found myself sitting up way too late to finish the book. We find out more about the girls' mothers and what the real situation is. It will blow your mind! I truly did not expect it. This book does have a HEA for Ellie and ends on a cliffhanger. The next book is about Stan (Constance).
I read this book through KU.
