I'm going to tell you a story (aren't you lucky) : there was a time in my life when I
I knooooow. Girl gotta see the truth now.
But let's stay focused, alright? So. That time, long long ago. God, such a good time. I could make fun of these silly, ridiculous French movies whose "jokes" (we're gonna need the quotations marks at this point) either appalled me or ... WELL, I won't talk about those I still don't understand (shout out to French readers here : Asterix new movies like really guys, really, in which world are they necessary really). I could also laugh at every TSTL moment in horror movies (I miss those, actually).
I really liked the HAHAHAHAHAHA NOPE bubble I built to myself. Sometimes I even shared it with fellow great-sense-of-humor people (alright, my boyfriend).
I am sorry to have to inform you that this time is forever over, because I read Deadpool: Secret Invasion, and I LOVED it. I have no shame.

I loved Deadpool: Secret Invasion, when really, the whole thing is relatively plotless (excuse me : episodly driven), repetitive and gratuitously violent. Yet I want more, and if not for the fact that every woman must have a 100D (not that there's something wrong with big breasts or sexy outfits per se, OF COURSE, I just felt like women were objectified this way, and I don't like it, sue me) it would be a full five because trust me, when June comes, I'm so freaking tired that nothing works.
The moral being : My sense of humor sucks.
BF : Or perhaps you should sleep more than 4 hours a night.
OKAY. OR THAT.
I still don't like Taxi, Mickael Youn, Cyril Hanouna, Christian Clavier, etc etc.... (French will KNOW).
*shudders*

(close enough) Deadpool has to figure out a way to make the nearly unkillable creatures kill themselves – or each other.
Which leads to the second half of this selection where The Merc With The Mouth has been recruited to go rescue a damsel in distress from her plastic surgeon. Things don’t go quite as planned . . . .
And Deadpool has to fight off an army of zombies who are hungry for one thing and one thing only . . . .

Per the title Secret Invasion this collection was a Secret Invasion tie-in. Good news for any idiots like me who don’t read a whole lotta comics and pick up Deadpool due to his lack of continual storyline – you won’t be lost. This works fine as a standalone. If you’re a huge comic book company like Marvel how do you liven up one of your lackluster giant crossovers like Secret Invasion? Easy, just give Deadpool his own title again and add him to the mix. Wade Wilson can make even a snore like this storyline a lot more entertaining with his own special brand of chaos and craziness.
First, Deadpool traps a spaceship full of Skrulls in a baseball stadium by using the clever ruse of disguising himself as the team mascot, but he doesn’t just want to kill all the aliens. He’s actually got a different kind of proposal for them, but the Skrulls get more than they bargained by taking that deal. After that little adventure Wade needs cash and takes a job that involves killing a whole bunch of zombies created by an evil plastic surgeon. Hilarity and carnage ensue.
I never read much Deadpool because he was always associated in my mind with the worst of the ‘90s comics even though I’d heard that the character had become very funny since then, and that various creative teams used him in increasingly clever and offbeat ways. Since I loved the recent movie version it seemed like a good time to finally give the Merc With A Mouth a serious try, and I’m very glad I did.
I loved how it managed to both be a humorous offshoot of Secret Invasion, but also involve Deadpool in a major plot point for it so that the story has some stakes despite all the silliness. I especially liked the running monologues that Wade has with himself that also involve a fair amount of hallucinating. Deadpool maybe be crazy, but he makes for a smart and funny comic book.

Daniel Way is THE BEST Deadpool writer, as far as I’m concerned anyway! Hell, he’s a great writer full stop, I’m kinda shocked he barely works these days - his last gig was 2013’s Thunderbolts! I’ve yet to read a Daniel Way Deadpool comic that’s not any good and his first book at the start of his 2008 run, Secret Invasion, is one of the best Deadpool books I’ve ever read.
Though it’s set during Secret Invasion, you don’t need to read that event book to enjoy this. Shape-changing Green Goblin-lookalike aliens called Skrulls have invaded Earth and Deadpool’s gonna fight ‘em. That’s it!
I like that Way’s Deadpool is more brutal than the current day Deadpool. He’s unpredictable, shooting people randomly, thinking nothing of collateral damage and cheerfully staggering along the line between good and evil, sometimes falling into one side before falling into the other and not really shiving a git one way or t’other!
Way also shows Deadpool as more than a clownish buffoon - although there’s plenty of that here as well - by highlighting his clever, scheming side which we almost never see. Deadpool can do a lot of damage with his guns and explosives but he does more using his wits against the Skrulls. He’s still cray though and Way’s Deadpool has the Rogue Trooper-esque dual voices narration boxes to highlight his madness.
Deadpool taking on the Skrulls is a fantastic story from start to finish. It’s inventive, imaginative and funny too - his knock knock jokes genuinely made me laugh!
The book closes out with a two-parter where Deadpool has to save the wife of an arms dealer from a plastic surgeon who creates zombie vampires! It’s the perfect kind of over-the-top wacky campy-horror story for Deadpool and is almost as brilliant as the Skrulls one. As it is, it’s still a blast.
Rude, crude, silly, clever (but obviously not TOO smarty-pants) and super entertaining, this is what a Deadpool book should be like. Daniel Way’s take on the character is as damn close to definitive as you can get - do yourself a favour and check out the best version of Deadpool if you haven’t already, it’s Way awesome!

This volume collects two Deadpool stories; one with Skrulls (that's shapeshifting aliens, for the uninitiated) and one with zombies (you know what zombies are, dingus).
The Skrull story is great; lots of laughs, clever twists and action, wrapped up in some nice artwork. 4 stars.
The zombie story is a bit of a mess, with artwork that's fine but not as good as the previous story. 2 stars.
Overall averaged rating: 3 stars. Maybe 3.5, as the Skrull story was longer than the zombie story.

This is the second go at a solo Deadpool series. New to me is Deadpool having conversations with two voices in his head. (This may have been introduced in Cable & Deadpool, which I haven't read yet.) Deadpool's charm is that he's completely insane, in a mostly humorous way, and Way does a good job of showing it. OK, so tying the first few issues into Secret Invasion was unnecessary (but maybe smart, as far as launching a new series goes) but I enjoyed the story enough that I just didn't care. Watching Deadpool punk the Skrulls is hilarious. Issues 4 and 5 are an odd zombie/plastic surgery storyline that felt overextended (more like a one issue story, really) and pointless, but I did like how it ended. And then the collection ends with an oddly dry retelling of Deadpool's convoluted history. It's a promising relaunch, even with that crossover.

This volume is basically about goddamn Deadpool doing whatever the goddamn fuck he feels like. Well........I guess that's exactly the point of this character and his stories. Still, I don't love this volume like I did with the last Deadpool comic I'd read.

Hehe it's funny, I really liked the artwork and dialogues. It's first comic I read of Deadpool, he is funny like in movies, but stories need to be more specific.

I really do love how Deadpool always comes out on top. It’s satisfying to see him win over those who try to double cross him.
I was VERY upset with what Zeke’s guards did to the cops and the innocent people…
Also, if Zeke was broke, how did he manage to hire all of his goons? I highly doubt it was due to good medical benefits.
As always, incredibly gruesome, so those with weak stomachs, beware.
4, entertaining and jumping into the next one now, stars.

It’s strange that I loved the Deadpool movie and found it really funny, but in this volume I just found him annoying. The artwork was good.

That was highly enjoyable and had everything you could want in a comic, Skrulls, zombies, gratuitous violence, and the always hilarious Deadpool.
Yes, there is hacking off of limbs and decapitation and hilarity ensues, but it was also really well written with some great twists and turns. The art is well done, the storytelling is tight and clean, and despite this being the first volume of the series, they didn't even attempt an origin story, THANK GOD!
Instead, what they did was provide a little supplement back story and history of the character, conflicting facts and all, after the last issue of the volume. Accompanied by spinets of old panels, the rundown is succinct, interesting, and better than what you'd get on Wikipedia.
Overall, this comic made me laugh out loud and, for me, that is very rare.

This Deadpool graphic novel had two stories one involving skrulls and one was just a whacky adventure involving zombies. Both the stories are irrelevant, both are whacky and both are fun.
1. Secret Invasion - Deadpool goes on a mission to infiltrate Skrull headquarter and he does what he does best - Pure Madness
2. Horror Business - Deadpool is broke and bored so gets in touch with his dirtbag friend Zeke who hires him to bring him his wife from a plastic surgeon who is a zombie and what else hilarity ensues.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

Sorry, Bendis, Deadpool e mult mai distractiv în lupta lui cu Skrulls decât oricare dintre eroii de poveste din run-ul principal. Și da, povestea nu e complicată, însă dialogurile și arta sunt un deliciu pe alocuri, greu de egalat de poveștile similare din acest crossover cu invazia Skrulls. Ai și aici răsturnări de situație, ai glume la tot pasul, ai demența și autoironia personajului principal. Daniel Way chiar m-a impresionat cu ce a reușit să facă din poveste și din personaj. Ah, și evident că povestea e simpatică și tâmpituță, dar ambele într-o notă pozitivă. Cei care vor să vadă o mulțime de Skrull-și cu moacă de Deadpool și personalitate similară, ei bine, aici îi găsiți pe toți. Și rezultatul nu poate fi decât exploziv. Așa că puneți mâna pe volum, că merită. Și da, și aici Skrulls și-o iau pe cocoașă, doar că nu te plictisești deloc.

The collection should have been broken into smaller collections. The chosen stories are thematically unrelated. The stories themselves are okay; funny, light, lacking in depth. The Skrull story had some nice twists but the zombie story was predictable.

Not too much to say about this one. A free read with Prime Reading on my Kindle so I decided to give it a go. Usual story about how crazy Deadpool is. How much death and destruction he brings with him. I don't read his stuff too much so no real context to put it into. The art was good and it was funny at times so I enjoyed it well enough.

Random, no straight story, and quite ridiculous... This is Deadpool at his best.
It's been a while since I've read this, but I just had to change that review I gave it.
I still remember the story, so best I write this down before I forget.
So, they say that this is a part of an event called "Secret Invasion". Had no idea of its existence, probably would never had had if it weren't for Sam's review.
So, I think (emphasis on think) that this was divided into two stories:
1) Alien Invasion
2) Zombie Doctor
(They're not actually called these, but these are what I remember them for.)
In story numero uno, a group of Skrulls attacks the earth. There spaceship floats above a football stadium.
Who's gonna save the day?
Some dude in the football team's mascot.
Who gets shot to death almost immediately, only to resurrect (If I'm not mistaken.)
I think we all know who's in the suit...
Anyways, Deadpool's infiltrates the ship, causing some VERY funny junk to happen, and joins the Skrulls.
Rest of the story is one, big heaping pile of spoilers.
Next, someone hires Deadpool, who's very low on cash, to save his wife from a mad doctor... Right?
Anywho, Deadpool goes, and finds a hospital full of zombies.
So, zombies AND aliens in five issues...
Cool, huh?
And, best of al, nothing feels too... Short, or forced.
The comedy is great, I mean, seriously, you'll be LOLing on every single page. (little bit exagerated, but not that much.)
Also, it's not that bad...
Well, yeah, we see a bit of DP's brains... But hey, do we have a problem when we eat an animal's brains? Or delicious Brazilian chicken heart? Or lamb liver wrapped with its juicy fat?
Never tried those? I seriously recommend you try the last two, also, try cow toungue, they're super yummy.
Also, DP's mouth wasn't as much of a toilet as usual.
This would make a great gift for 12+.
Recommended for any and every Deadpool fan, and also for those who wanna start getting familiar with the immortal Canadian.
