in her very first book, poet Sayeda Qader explores the depths of the voices in the human mind through words of poetry; in this book, the writer and reader are one. the poems are intended to mirror the reader's thoughts and guide the reader to not only resonate with the several emotions presented, but to also find comfort and heal. the book explores the harsh realities the world tends to face us with, along with the plague that the human mind often presents us with.
This book isn’t just only well written, but makes me feel seen as a Gen Z POC. The author not only tackles our generations pressing issues like mental health and wellness, but the identity crisis that comes with being the child of immigrants and the guilt of surviving war, and what really got me; the struggle of assimilating with peers. This book is often my comfort read and I highly recommend it to anyone who identifies with this book or wants to broaden their perspective in a simple, yet striking way. Poetry is also one of my favorite genres and this author did not disappoint in her personal literary style. HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who doesn’t feel seen or heard, I hope this book can be your comfort like it was mine!
such a beautiful book! sayeda weaves magic with her words, carefully yet unflinchingly illustrating the pain of not being understood by those around you. her writing style is uniquely hers; it’s unlike anything i’ve ever read before. highly highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt like an outsider not only to the world but to themself.
