Lacey, a breast cancer survivor, has found comfort from her dog Remi, a retired military working dog. Then she learns that Remi was supposed to be returned to her handler Dean, who has come to claim his canine partner. Dean's helping Lacey do some repairs on her B and B, and she finds herself falling for Dean, a former marine with a serious combat-related injury. Can one of them agree to give Remi up? Are the Christmas ornaments Lacey's found really valuable, or just reproductions? And can either of these mistrustful people who have been hurt trust again?

Dean wanted to adopt his K9 partner, but when he got out he found there had been a clerical error, and now his beloved Remi has been adopted by someone else. Now he's set out to find Remi and her new owner, so he can convince her to let him have Remi back. Only he didn't realize that owner would be a beautiful inn owner just trying to get her new inn up and running. He can help her with that and in return maybe she'll give him Remi. Or perhaps much, much more than just his beloved dog, will be coming to him this Christmas.
Lacey's got to get her gazebo rebuilt so she can pass the building inspection, so in turn she can open her inn. But no one's available last minute and she isn't going to let her brother Sam put off his plans any longer. So when Dean (I see what you did there with the names :) comes along wanting his dog back, it seems he'll also be able to help her with her gazebo. And as soon is obvious, help her with a lot more than just that. Though they just met, love is going to be their Christmas gift this year.
This is a sweet holiday insta-love story, but one with emotional depth and two (3 if you count Remi, which I definitely do) lovable characters. Both Lacey and Dean have a lot of baggage, and Dean's in particular was hard to read, but well worth it to get to the sweet resolution at the end. This series is shaping up to be pretty great, I can't wait for the next installment.

A holiday happy ever after facilitated by a brilliant and beautiful K9? Sign me up! Remington has saved both Lacey and Dean’s lives, just in very different ways. Both love her with their full hearts. How can either one face letting go? At the same time, a secret from Lacey’s family’s past surfaces. Will it bring new joy to their festive season or bring it all crashing down? I loved these characters. They’re so complex and dynamic. Lacey and Dean are both carrying lots of scars, some you can see others are on the inside. It was beautiful to watch this pair as they allowed each other to open up and be vulnerable together, and grow from it. And I love that we get to see Sam in all his big brother glory for a bit in this book too.

It seems that Lacey and Dean meet over a clerical error when adopting Remi. Then Dean, a Marine recovering from surgery, wants his K-9 dog back as Remi saved his life. Dean and Lacy find that there is danger surrounding Lacey and her opening of Candlelight Inn Bed & Breakfast. She can't open for Christmas as she needs the Gazebo fixed. Lacey sees a shadow and before she can verify who it is they run away. Dean offers to fix Lacey's gazebo and is staying at the inn to protect Lacey. Who is after Lacey? Will Dean be able to protect Lacey from the person who's trying to break into the Inn? Love the ending of this story! Didn’t finish. It’s okay. I like the interesting characters and their struggles. They seemed like real and relatable people who were likable. But I just don’t like it when an author has the mc monologue over and over about how hot they think the love interest is and how attracted they are to them and then immediately have to berate themselves every time they have those lustful thoughts. And it’s constant from the time they meet. Add on that the other pov that is doing the exact same thing and it becomes very repetitive and it gets old fast.
I did like the conflict of why Dean was there. It was interesting and felt like a good set up. I just wish the romance would have been done more carefully and been more subtle and refined. Not so clunky with the continuous l lust filled monologuing. And I didn’t love how Lacey handled the situation, wanting to try and get a lawyer to sue for ownership of the dog and stuff. But I’m not sure how the whole thing ends up playing out since I didn’t finish it. But overall im sure it’s an okay story I just get too bothered by the monologuing.

Lacey Wilde is trying open her long-awaited Candlelight Inn bed and breakfast for Christmas, but no one is available until after the holidays to fix the gazebo. Until it is fixed, she cannot get the certificate of occupancy she needs to open. And if she doesn’t get it fixed before Christmas, the building inspector will be gone on vacation until January.
As he recovered from surgery, Marine Dean Hunter filled out the paperwork to adopt his K9 partner, Remington, who was also injured. But an error allowed Remi to be adopted by a civilian, and Dean wants her returned to him. He served his country, but he won’t let their mistake make him give up his beloved dog. He owed her his life because she saved his. But he arrived at the same time a tour started and he could not talk to the woman who had his dog until the 20-minute tour ended. While he waited, Dean admired the workmanship of the inn. Dean had worked for his father’s general contracting business and dabbled in woodworking when he was younger. Restoring this beautiful Victorian inn would be a wonderful challenge and a dream come true for him. But when the tour group left and he told Lacey why he was there, she would not release Remi without verifying the facts and maybe taking him to court over custody.
When Remi growls and barks angrily, Lacey looked out the window into the darkness. She saw a shadow sneaking in the front yard and flipped on the porch light. The person ran as Remi followed his progress to the back, but the person ran into the woods. She saw a dark object in the snow. If she did not go now to get it, the man could come back and remove the “evidence” before the police arrived. So she grabbed a knife and went outside. She found a wallet belonging to Dean Hunter! Would he dare try to steal Remi from her? Maybe this stunt would help her win a custody battle over Remi. But when the police arrived, along with Dean, Officer Foley asked if she saw the trespasser and whether Dean could have dropped his wallet that afternoon. She remembered Remi knocking him down and their playful wrestling on the ground. Dean had been with the police officer that evening and had told him about losing his wallet right around the time the call came in from Lacey. The shadow had not been Dean.
When Dean overheard the issue, he offers to repair the gazebo in return for a place to sleep (he had cancelled all his credit cards), some breakfast, and (unspoken) to protect her. Both of them are definitely attracted to each other, despite the controversy over Remi. Will the time spent together bring them closer? Unexpected Love!
Wilde Christmas: Lacey adopted Remi who was a military do but wad force out of the Marines because of her injuries that saved several men! Dean had been medically discharged from the Marines for the same reason as Remi but Dean's injury was worse. He was going to track down his partner so he can get on with his life! Fantastic story!

Lacey was all ready for her bed and breakfast to open on New Year's, but a storm came through causing a tree to fall on the gazebo part of the wraparound porch. She has to get fixed quickly in order to pass the final inspection prior to opening for guests.
She's part of the Victorian Homes Christmas Tour this year even though she can't have overnight guests. It's a wild turn out with some interesting characters. One little old lady in particular, a Ms. Brandt, has some interesting recollections while on the tour.
Dean Hunter arrives at the B&B just as the tour does. He's jumping the gun, not waiting for the military to inform Lacey her adoption of Remi is invalid. He joins the tour and admires the architecture since there's no way to have a private conversation during it.
Needless to say, there is quite the confrontation when Sam returns with Remi after the tour. Dean does leave without his dog and promises not to be far away when she gets the paperwork. Unfortunately, he also discovers he has no wallet. He has to wait until morning to replace the cards he cancelled so finds a parking lot to sleep in, only to be confronted by the police.
That's when Lacey calls about an intruder on her property and finding Dean's wallet.
With Dean fixing her porch, Sam leaves for Vermont with Faith and Lily.
It seems that's when things start getting a bit crazy. First Lacey's ex shows up wanting his cut of her Christmas ornaments. He seems to think they are actual Ulbrichts and worth a lot of money. Not that he has any rights to anything in her home since the divorce is final.
Plenty of suspense and intrigue as Lacey and Dean try to figure out how Lacey's family came to have the ornaments and some action as someone tries to get their hands on them.
All while Dean and Lacey start down the path of romance.

THE BEST (Christmas) book I've read in so long. I was drawn by the conflict between Lacey and Dean, who both believe they're the owner of the gorgeous German Shepherd Remi. And they are both the owners, so there is only one option - they need to fall in love for their puppy! At least, that's what was going through my head - not theirs!
Lacey is a cancer survivor who is fulfilling her dream of reopening her mother's bed and breakfast. After cancer treatment and a divorce (because stupid hubby couldn't bear to have a 'cancer wife' *GASP*), all Lacey wants is a quiet Christmas with her beloved pooch. Until this sweet, hot man arrives claiming Remi is his dog and he's taking her home.
It's a bit tough going for a while, but Lacey and Dean form a nice friendship as he stays a few days. Dean has his own demons. He and Remi were in Afghanistan together as Marines, so they have a bond like no other. But how can he take Remi from a woman who loves and needs her so much? Thankfully, he falls in love with Lacey and problem solved! Doggy gets a mummy and daddy for Christmas!
But that's not all that's going on, of course. Lacey's ex-husband wants to cause trouble, Dean has terrible issues with his father to solve, and when a family mystery comes to light, Lacey finds herself in danger this Christmas. Lucky she has a trained military dog, right?
Honestly, this book has it all - romance, deep personal conflicts, suspense, and (the two most important things) Christmas and dogs! You don't want to miss this one.

Lacey has just gone through a rough divorce and battled Breast Cancer. Trying to feel better got an ex service dog that has been her support and started restoring her home to make a B and B. Dean is a wounded marine who only wants his partner back, the dog that saved his life. He didn’t expect to find more than his best friend when he goes to get his dog back. The story has mystery and lots of steam. Part of a series with other authors writing a different book in each series, but with the characters intertwining. This made the series more interesting as you see characters from different authors prospectives.
What I didn’t like is that Dean didn’t follow proper channels and showed up at Lacey’s house with no warning and tried to take Remi.
Lacey goes from super upset about him wanting to take Remi to oh my goodness he’s so hot 🥵. She needed more backbone especially where her ex was concerned.

Lovely Christmas read
Dean is a disabled Marine vet disowned by his father on a trip to retrieve his military K9 partner after a paperwork mix up by the government allowed cancer survivor Lacey to adopt Remi, Remi became her emotional support after her divorce and treatment left her scarred mentally as well as physically. Lacey is torn seeing their bond but doesn’t know how she can continue without Remi. Dean tries to help her out of a jam with her inn after feeling guilty as he sees the life and love she gives Remi. They get close and develop feelings but there is a break in and a threat to Lacey’s safety. Dean and Lacey try to solve this while navigating her health and their relationship. I wasn’t expecting such an emotional story and it just gripped me. Excellent Christmas read!

Can I give it MORE than 5 stars??!!
This book was amazing. First, let me say that there were a couple of typos (called Lacey the wrong name one time), but they were early on and not too distracting. I loved this story and how it was very down-to-earth and real-life. The author handled the prosthesis very well and taught the readers things about it that we (at least I) didn’t know. The characters were fleshed out so very well…their pain and insecurities were palpable and relatable. I love the instant attraction between Lacey and Dean, and their love for Remi. It had a few twists and turns and enough suspense to keep you hanging in there to learn the answers. I highly recommend this book!

I enjoyed this book despite not knowing anything about it or having read the first book in the series. I picked up this title because I wanted to read something over the holidays I was hoping wouldn't be too intense. While there are some moments of suspense and steam throughout the story, it is a simple, pleasant,
and quick read.
I like the characters (loved the dog) and appreciated the emotional pulls toward family drama. I was too much drama but enough for you to feel the two main leads. I also liked the diversity of the characters with all their differing abilities and more.
Recommended to fans of holiday fiction, romantic suspense, and tales with military ties.

This was the perfect holiday romance. Steamy, deep, heartwarming with a great dog and a surprising mystery. Lacy and Dean are a fun match and both have been through so much. And the dog bringing them together was the icing on the cake. I really enjoyed the book and I’m so glad it fell into my lap.

Lacey has been through so much it would break some and just when she is coming out the other side she finds out Remi her ex military dog which has helped her beat the odds is being taken away from her due to a paperwork error. You don't expect Dean and Lacey to strike up a partnership but after strange things start to occur Dean's protectiveness kicks in and Lacey gets his skills to fix the wrap around porch and gazebo fixed so she can pass the final inspection and open the B&B. I loved how Dean and Lacey had to go through a few highs and lows as well as self reflection before they really let each other in and throw in the mystery of the Christmas decorations and air of danger and more to come after the first incident at the B&B makes this a great read and has be wanting to purchase the first book so I can read about Sam and Faith as well as Candlewood Falls.

A wonderful written story that is about Lacey Wilde a single mom with a daughter called Lily and Dean Hunter ex-Marine and a K-9 called Remi that will pull at the heartstrings. One special K-9 dog makes Lacey and Dean meet. Around Christmas time, Lacey is working to get her bed and breakfast, Candlelight Inn, ready for the opening, but can't because she needs the porch fixed to get her license to open. Lacey and her brother looked everywhere for someone to fix it. Lacey adopted Remi a German Shepard. 3.5 but I’m not sure I’ll bump it to 4 stars. It all starts with an adorable German Shepherd dog, Remi. Remi is a retired military service dog turned companion dog. Her Marine handler, Dean, put in to adopt her but through paperwork mishandling, Remi was put up for adoption. Lacey, a breast cancer survivor, adopted Remi as a companion dog. A confrontation over Remi's ownership leads to the rest of the story.
The characters are interesting and deep. The storyline is fast-paced and entertaining, with just enough intrigue to keep you guessing. Wilde Christmas is worth reading this holiday season.

All Dean wants is to have his dog Remi back, but it looks that is not going to be as easy as he thought.
I loved how Dean and Lacey got to know each other seeing how Remi loved both of them.
An emotional read with twists and turns, full of mystery and intrigue. It was a very entertaining book, and I loved every single page of it.

Both characters are wonderful, but struggling with scars on the inside and outside. And then she has a mystery on her hands while also wanting to keep from losing her dog that was never supposed to be hers but there had been a paperwork mix-up. There was a lot that could have kept them apart, but it was beautiful reading them overcoming everything. The heat was good. The compassion these characters feel for others was beautiful. I really enjoyed this sweet story and didn't want to put it as the tension build.

She opens her home for the Christmas home tour in hopes of generating interest for bookings when she gets her new venture started. Unfortunately, this brings in people interested in her antique Christmas ornaments and also Dean Hunter who is there to reclaim his war dog, Remi, who Lacey had adopted 9 months earlier. Loved the characters in this book as well as the storyline.

Grab some tissues and something to drink…then settle back for one helluva read! The storyline is really amazing; the characters absolutely delightful; the plot twists and turns will have you devouring the pages; and the HEA will have you overjoyed at the best ending ever! This is a new author for me and the first book from this series that I have read. The story took me on an emotional journey, a romantic one, a suspenseful one and had a splash of mystery to it too. I felt a connection to the characters and believed in their connection and chemistry. The story flowed well, had light and dark, good and bad and held my interest throughout. This standalone read is the first from the Candlewood Falls universe that I've read, as well as the first time I've read this author. Wilde Christmas is a very enjoyable read that managed to make me feel good while at the same time having both main characters living with physical limitations and having to deal with unpleasant family members. It was great to read about characters living with limitations but not being limited by them. This is a very easy to read story that I enjoyed very much.

There is a lot of emotions and a bit of family history that leads to danger in this story. In the end, all family rifts are healed and Lacey and Dean have fallen in love. The one behind the danger is finally caught.

The second book in the Small Town Wilde Romance series a well written suspense story that kept me turning pages. Lacey Wilde and Dean Hunter and Remi the service dog that brings them together. The story has suspense, drama, danger, a villain and romance. The story is one I would recommend. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
