I’m a legendary Valkyrie, and for over a thousand years I’ve managed to avoid Odin’s gaze.
You know, from his one good eye.

The second I’m forced to reveal myself, he sends me back in time to live with the viking hordes who worshipped him.

But it’s impossible to keep a low profile in this tiny village, especially as my powers continue to grow. My only choice is to sail west where there are far more people and far less scrutiny.

And for that I need gold.

As I select the strongest warriors for my raiding party, I question if I’ll be able to say goodbye when the time comes. They’ve proven useful for more than fighting, and despite my long history of heartbreak, I’ve grown fond of these backward barbarians.

However, when Odin threatens my men to punish me, I have to make a choice—

Stick with my plan to run, or wage war against the gods?

Valkyrie Fallen is the first book in the Vikings & Vengeance series, featuring vengeful Norse gods, three sexy viking men, and one seriously pissed off valkyrie. Expect lots of action, adventure, and a swoon-worthy romance between a foul-mouthed, millennia-old warrior and the men she calls her own. This is a medium burn romance, and is not recommended for readers under 18.

Hi! I'm Laurel, I love all things fantasy, magic, and sci-fi, so you may find that my books have surprising twists that you didn't see coming.

I'm an avid traveller and adventurer, and I find my travels inspire stories I want to write! I have an amazing daughter and we currently live in the shadows of the Smoky Mountains. I love a good craft cocktail, sunny beaches and snowy slopes, and a cozy chair with a nearby fireplace for the perfect read.

Loving this new series!

I'm going to be honest and say that I was enthralled by the Alpha Queen Legacy series and that led to a bit of apprehension about whether this new series would grab me and hold me as strong, but I was definitely game to find out.

A few things I now feel very secure in my knowledge of. 1) Anything Laurel Night writes is going to grab you from page one and keep your brain cycling over long after the last page. 2) Her storytelling is unique and fresh. This book doesn't feel anything like the Alpha Queen series, other than that there are complex characters, a deep plot, and sweet slow building steam.

I'm 100% hooked on this new series. Brenna (fmc) is such a relatable leading lady, with her grief, guilt, endurance, and commitment so visible in her character from the early pages. The guys, Bjorn, Leif, and Soren, are so very different, both from each other as well as from the guys in her prior series. These are all genuinely fresh characters, and a completely different world and plot. I love that this story is clearly going to stand on its own and force me to leave off from trying to draw any comparisons.

I'm just got to say that somewhere around the 60% mark of the book, Brenna has a few awesome reveals and moments. You'll be rooting for her so hard and if you're like me, you'll be grinning as she has "mic drop" moments.

I also LOVE that this series has a heavy influence from Norse mythology and the lore of Asgard, Loki, Odin, Thor, and the Vikings, but this not the Marvel telling. These characters are dark and dubious and it makes the mystery and the fantasy so much more fascinating.

I groaned when the last page rolled up, not at all ready to be at the end. I'm already eagerly anticipating book two!

Brenna is a Valkyrie that refused to continue doing Odin's bidding. The backstory of the Valkyrie and her backstory is amazing. A prequel would be great to show the very beginning's.
She hid from Odin for over 1000 years. One that catches up with her and she's thrown back in time all over again she meets three Vikings that all have feelings for her. One is a big brother to three younger sisters. Basically a ready-made family for her as she cannot have a family of her own. The trials they go through the relationships they build not just her and the men but her and the girls as well is extremely well written and thought out. I can't wait to see what happens in the coming book.

Valkyrie Fallen is the first book in the Vikings and Vengeance series.

You have:
*Why Choose (slow building)
*Fast-Medium Burn
* Sexy Vikings
*Norse Mythology
*Time Travel
*Fantasy/paranormal

*Strong FMC

First if all, When I first heard about this, I just HAD to read this. Any form of mythology, I am on that in an instant. This was no exception. Brenna is so freaking relatable and THEN you have Bjorn, Soren, and Leif, who are absolutely delicious. Laurel Knight's writing and storytelling is absolutely superb. Definitely looking forward to this series. I am hooked!

I loved this; I normally reads RH and books where a main character is a witch or a wolf; but I was curious about how Norse mythology and fantasy would work out.
interestingly enough it works really well! Breeana is strong willed and compassionate. When she appears in her new era she sets about to make a life for herself. I really liked how the characters were introduced and the pace of the book. It was fast passed and kept the story moving forward.
It shows that Laurel has done her research into the Viking era and mythology which makes the book more believable.

Really recommend a read.

This is a slow burn and build reverse harem romance following Brenna who is strong, strong willed and has a heart. This is packed with so much detail from world building to characterizations. And the plot is engrossing. It is a unique and very interesting read that I can't wait to continue in readin the series.

I really loved the previous series written by this author so I knew I had to give this a try.

Not once was I disappointed. This book is jam packed and with its amazing storyline and characters you can't go wrong. With some hot vikings, it leaves you wanting the next book.

Time Travel and Valkyrie

4.5 stars

The premise of this story captured my attention immediately.

Brenna is a Valkyrie who has been on the run from Odin for hundreds of years. When he finally captures her, she’s thrown into a time she has already lived before, but meets people she has never met. Those three men are our Vikings Soren, Leif, and Bjorn.

I just want to start by saying I adored all of the men and have zero complaints about them. Leif is the youngest and so incredibly innocent, he’s smitten with Brenna the moment he sees her. Bjorn a little rough around the edges but as the translation of his name in English goes, he’s a big (ole teddy) bear. Soren is a little more colder than the other two men, more clever and clinical but he’s not immune to the fmc’s charms.

As for Brenna, she is the type of fmc I like: Confident, sexy, and powerful of course as one would expect a Valkyrie to be. She lives her life wild and as free as she can. In my opinion she lives her life like someone who isn’t quite afraid of death but isn’t exactly going after it either. She doesn’t always make the right choices, but she has a heart of gold despite her tough exterior and I really liked her. That and she’s a sexually confident fmc, with loads of experience (as she immortal) which is a trait I always enjoy and find refreshing.

While I didn’t exactly think that Odin’s motives/ reasoning for punishing her was explained enough. I understand why she rebelled but I don’t understand why he has such strong interest in her in particular. Maybe we will learn more about this next book.

Anyways, I throughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read the next one. This is the first time I’ve read this author and I look forward to giving her other books a try.

Also I would classify this book a little more on the fastburn side than I would medium burn. As I feel like two of the men fell pretty quickly for her.

Sexually experienced immortal fmc 💚
Time travel
Medium to fastburn
Most likely one virgin H

Valkyrie Fallen was such a pleasant surprise! I love books that include any type of gods so I can see the unique interpretations authors take on the different legends and stories that revolve around them. I was thrilled to see that the Norse gods were the focus of this book as I haven't read very many RH books involving them unless they were part of the harem and not side characters or villains of some sort. I have to admit that I never once thought of the possibility of Odin and the valkyries' relationship being a forced one that negatively impacted the valkyrie. Night's twist on this well known connection between the Norse god and those who served him really made the story interesting and set the fmc, Brenna, up well for her rebellion.

Brenna was a main character that was so easy for me to like and connect to. You would think that being immortal would make her seem more untouchable, incapable of feeling emotions at the same capacity as a mortal, but Brenna really surprised me. Even though immortal, she was still susceptible to regular mortal issues such as depression and heartache, showing that she isn't immune to feelings and hardships. She has been through so much during Odin's punishment that I find it amazing that she is still persevering. She may have built a shield around her heart, but it was out of pure necessity. Do you really blame her when she would have to watch anyone she made a connection with grow old as she remained the same? Brenna's vulnerabilities along with her wit and strength make her a well balanced character that I can't wait to see more of.

The main male characters, Bjorn, Soren, and Leif, were an interesting trio, especially with their first few interactions with Brenna. With such a rough start, it was fun to see how different their feelings toward Brenna were once they started to get to know her. Instant adoration, distrust, a bit of hatred, the feelings seemed to bounce back and forth between several. I will say that the relationships seemed to be built organically and at a nice pace. Even with the slight pull the men felt towards her, it wasn't something that was uncontrollable or forced. I felt that each guy was able to make his own decision about Brenna based on what they learned about her, how she acted towards everyone around her, and how they individually felt about her. It wasn't often that the men were on the same page, but when they finally got to that point, it was all hands in for Team Valkyrie.

If you're a fan of Vikings, Norse gods and their tricks, amazing world building with a storyline that will suck you in, and character development that will make you love each and every character even if they make you mad sometimes, this is a great book to pick up! I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of journey Night takes Brenna and her Vikings on in this series!

I absolutely LOVED this book. When I read that the story revolves around Vikings, Valkyries, and Norse Gods, I was totally on board. It did NOT disappoint!

Brenna is a Valkyrie who got sick and tired of fighting for someone else’s (*coughOdincough*) agenda after discovering the harsh reality behind Valhalla. Since “walking off the job”, so to speak, she’s been hiding for centuries, which requires her to fully reinvent and disguise herself; moving from place to place every few years in order to avoid Odin’s notice and being forced back to the job.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the story, Odin finally catches up to our heroine, and decides to literally turn back the clock to the time when Brenna left, forcing her to re-live those centuries all over again – without the nice caches of treasure and money she’d acquired over the years.

Odin leaves Brenna in a small Viking village, with nothing but her sword and the dress on her back. Now she’s forced to figure out how to make her way and earn a place for herself all over again.

Ultimately, she meets a trio of Viking men, and finds a place to rest her head in exchange for her assistance helping on the family’s farm. Although Brenna is grateful for the work, she knows her true calling and the place she can prove her worth is in battle, rather than farming. She’s determined to use her current place as a first step to ultimately end up leading raids and amassing treasure, but how? And what does Odin truly want from her?

I loved Brenna and her resilience, especially given the fact that she battles with depression and her sense of self-worth after so many years on her own and without being able to fulfill her actual purpose and dreams.

The Viking men she meets, and the other supporting characters are also excellent, and the book sets up a very intriguing future showdown between Brenna and Odin, as she maneuvers her way around Odin’s expectations, rules, & demands while keeping to the spirit of them, in a way as to not arouse his suspicion or ire.

I love how Brenna begins to develop relationships with those she comes across, sometimes despite herself. The romance is written with a very character-based focus, and each one develops in a way that enriches the overall story as well.
I am so looking forward to book 2, and seeing Brenna and her men best Odin & the other forces that are working against them!

Normally I don't read books where a lot of the focus is on time travel, especially when the timelines are close together. I have too many questions, and there are too many plot holes for me to be able to get lost in the story. However, Laurel got me with just three words. Norse Mythology. Reverse Harem. Vikings. That was all it took for me to fold.

Brenna was a bit of a hot mess, she may be a valkyrie but she has problems like everyone else. She has a good heart. I loved that she took a stand against something she believed in. Bre is a fighter no matter how you spin it, she fought for her people, against her demons but now she has to fight for her happiness and I think she's found the right set of guys to help her.

The three hot Vikings who find themselves falling for the fallen warrior are completely different from one another. Soren is cunning and manipulative, he's basically a megamind. Lief is a pure soul and Bjorn is the responsible type. Better yet, Soren was described as a storm cloud (which he totally is), then Leif is a rainbow and Bjorn is the wind, which can be gentle or turbulent at the drop of a hat.

This story is filled to the brim with Norse Mythology and I couldn’t be happier. All the usual suspects are around but it's Odin who's made himself known. Use the Alfather is depicted as an okay guy, rarely is he a villain, but Laurel went even further and made him into a supervillain and put her own spin on the Valkyries origin story, it's darker and more interesting and it's so entertaining. Not only is there tension with Bre being an immortal out of time and surrounded by hot Vikings but then add in the omnipresence that is Odin and you get one compelling read.

Valkyrie Fallen was fantastic! The story ended on a hopeful note with the promise of adventure. Bre has overcome so much but there are more trials ahead, I look forward to seeing how Bre's story wraps up in Valkyrie Risen.

- World-building - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Characters - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Heat - 🔥🔥
- Editing/Proofreading - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Enjoyableness - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- This was a very easy-to-read book. There's not a crazy amount of action, steamy or stabby, but it is there. And the MFC, Brenna, a fallen Valkyrie, is very in touch with her emotions and the way Laurel writes Brenna's inner dialogue with herself is very honest and comfortable. Brenna's depressed and aware of it at many points through the book. And she's not apologetic for the ways she's coped with her emotions in the past, though she's also aware that they're not always healthy and helpful to those around her. So she knows when to rein it in.
- Being set back in 800 AD, much of the book is about daily life in Viking Norway. But in a way that is still intriguing to read and doesn't come off as drudgery. You care about the characters, even the secondary ones, and you want them to both survive and thrive in this harsh life.
- There's not much heat in this book. But it works. And it makes sense considering the time period and region and their approach to sex (in general) as well as all of the life experiences the various characters are going through.
- The "guys" (that will be the eventual harem) are quite different and definitely NOT perfect - that's one of my favorite elements of an RH book. I don't want a boy scout, perfect, superman type love interest. I want the men to seem real. And these certainly do. You've got a big, burly, manly man, and the gentle-souled pretty boy (with the sturdy Viking twist), and the contemplative, emotionally astute thinker. And all of them say and/or do something to anger our MFC, rightfully so. But they also then have conversations discussing things.
- I'm very much looking forward to where this book series is going.

Valkyrie Fallen(Vikings And Vengeance Book 1) by Laurel Night is an exciting slow-burn low-heat historical time travel romance.  Brenne is a Valkyrie that is being punished by Odin for not doing her job.  After hiding for nearly a thousand years Odin has caught up with her.  In order to ensure she doesn't escape her punishment he takes her back in time to live her life over this time without hiding.  As she finds herself in an 800 viking town she must start over from nothing.  When she finds work on a farm for food and lodging she doesn't realize how important Bjorn and his 3 little sisters will become to her. As Bjorn, Lief, and Soren begin to trust Brenna she devolves trust and other feelings as well.  Can she help the men she is beginning to fall for or will she run to protect them from Odin?

I really enjoyed this story.  This is my first time travel romance and it was done really well.  I loved the Norse theme with the gods and a setting of old viking life.  I could imagine how Brenna must have felt coming from modern times to be surrounded by vikings in the 800s.  After hiding for a 1,000 years, trust I'm sure doesn't come easy, yet Brenna finds herself telling her truth and opening up after the men open up to her, allowing themselves to be vulnerable.  The male characters are wonderful, a beautiful cross of savage vikings yet tender and caring when needed.  This story brought out feels and was exciting, a great combo. I usually prefer my romances super spicy but the story was so good I didn't mind or even notice the slow-burn and simmering heat of their relationships.

I rated this 5 out of 5 stars.  If you enjoy historical time travel romances with hot viking men and strong independent immortal women you'll love Valkyrie Falle.

This was a great start to a series. Odin is a straight up a-hole. After over a thousand years he finally catches our heroine and sends her back in time to redo the time he punished her with, because he didn’t get to make it as hard as he wanted to the first time. What a D right? Brenna touches on the fact that over her millennium on the run, she had periods of depression, but decides to do her best to not fall into it now. Instead, she works to earn a place with new friends and help them with their battles. She’s kind of this mix of wise but insecure. She believes that she’s not really that good a person, which was kind of nuts. Despite remembering having low times and giving into darkness at times in her looong life, which is completely understandable, she seems to always try to do the right thing. So yeah, nuts.
After a not so great first meeting, she ends up living with a guy and his sisters, and working for him and his two friends. Her goal is to earn a place in a raiding party, grab up a bunch of gold and distinction, and just keep moving and surviving.
She quickly grows attached to the whole family, even though she knows it’s a bad idea because she always has to leave. And of course, that a-hole Odin has got to throw a few spanners in there to make things harder for her.
I’d call this one slow to medium burn, the world was detailed and interesting without getting bogged down with too many old world facts. The characters were likeable and engaging, and I’m definitely interested in seeing where things go for them.

Valkyrie Fallen is the first book in the Vikings and Vengeance Duet. Get ready to meet Brenna, a valkyrie. Or at least...she was one until Odin stripped her of the very things that made her a valkyrie. Well, what would you do if you decided that a deal made just wasn’t suiting you anymore? Of course, there are more nuances than that, but that’s deeper into the story to discover.
Valkyrie Fallen begins in modern times. Brenna is living her life and doing her best to stay off Odin’s radar. Well, she was doing a pretty good job of it, but it seems that her time has run out. Say good-bye to modern times, amenities, delicious modern food and the like. Brenna is going back in time to literally re-do all the time that she managed to evade Odin. Talk about getting messed over! Right?!
This book has some good elements with us getting to mingle with the Norse gods a little bit here and there. Of course, Odin is a jerk, and it’s nice seeing a touch of a soft side to Loki. Getting to know more about Brenna and watch her deal with her struggles is interesting. We like the dynamics between her and the girls she meets in the time period she’s dropped in with the Vikings. The family helps bring her out of her struggles...well, that and a “little” gift from Loki.
We would have liked a little more magic in this book, but it is an overall enjoyable read that showcases Brenna finding her place, and rediscovering herself. There’s some romance, and an ending that leads you to anticipate what comes next in book two.

What happens when you’ve already lived a thousand lives, to be brought back in time to your original fall?
Brenna is a fallen Valkyrie who has spent the last 1000 years thwarting Odin at every turn on Midgard, until she is cornered by Loki and Odin and is brought back to Asgard. Here as punishment, Odin turns back time and drops Brenna back into the Viking Era, with a warning that she will be watched, and must answer any calls that Odin gives. With all her memories still intact, Brenna is forced to figure out a way to survive with all her previous safety measures a distant memory.

Bjorn, Soren, Lief, brothers in arms and a past intertwined are trying to get an audience with the Jarl, and to put an enemy to rest when Brenna forces her way into a fight and saves their enemy unintentionally. The sight of her during daylight sparks a feeling that all three had thought not possible, and they are forced to decide if a woman is worth deviating from their plan or if maybe she is the answer to their plans and prayers…..

Spicy: 1/5 though I have high faith it will pick up in the upcoming books

Marketed as a RH, but during this book, we see the potential relationships, but no smexy time except for 1 Viking. Again, I have faith we will see more in the upcoming books.

This book was a surprise in the best way possible, I absolutely loved it. The Norse mythology and interpretation were unique and the world building was incredible.

Brenna is a fallen Valkyrie who was trying to hide from Odin, but gets captured and sent back in time during the Viking era. Even though she is immortal, she is a genuine person and has hardships. You get to see her struggle with her past and try to find her way through the present. She is such a strong female character, I loved her and how she embraced her flaws.

She meets Bjorn, Soren and Leif during her time. Bjorn and Soren are instantly against her since she appeared out of nowhere and has plenty of secrets. Leif is instantly head over heals for her, and is just adorable. Bjorn starts opening up to her when he sees that she will work for her place and will protect his little sisters. All of their relationships build throughout the story, which makes it more realistic. Each person has their own personality, which really shows the individuality between each relationship.

There was so much world building and the character development was incredible. I really liked this story and I can’t wait to read more in this series!

"Valkyrie Fallen" is most definitely the answer for readers looking for a fascinating time travel romance, with Gods interfering with the lives of those they deem less. Add three striking Vikings to the storyline, and "Valkyrie Fallen" becomes a fascinating start to the Vikings and Vengeance series, that grabbed my attention from the start. I loved Brenna from the start, and it's quite rare for me to love the fmc of a reverse harem series so quickly. She's brave, courageous, and a tiny bit broken even though she has never stopped fighting to earn a life for herself.

I'll admit, I always prefer a bit of tension between the men. It adds something to the storyline when the men need to learn how to share, and there is a lot of this present when three friends seperately fall head over heels for Brenna. A nice little extra is the fact our girl is a lot more experienced compared to these Vikings, and I loved the power it gave her.

The author takes her time to build the story, to add the right amount of character building, and do that all alongside some fascinating plot development. I'm hooked: on the story, the characters, the relationship development and the quests they are about to head out on in book two. I'm already looking forward to it!

I voluntarily reviewed "VALKYRIE FALLEN" This is such an interesting, intriguing, mysterious story you can't put down, heartbreak, running, waging war against the God's one in particular Odin, attraction, angst, action, adventure, steam, twists that keeps you turning the pages.
Brenna is a legendary Valkyrie who's avoided Odin's gaze once she reveals herself he sends her back in time to live with the viking hordes who worship Odin but it's hard not to be noticed in the little village because her powers keep growing, she needs to move on some place with fewer people.
Brenna has met Bjorn, Soren & Lief two of them not really trusting her at first but Lief the youngest is immediately infatuated with her, she kind of appeared from nowhere & has alot of secrets, but when Brenna shows she'll work for her place & protect Bjorn's sister he changes his mind about her, their relationship changes as they go.
I definitely recommend to get this truly interesting adventure Brenna, Bjorn, Soren & Lief take you on their characters are all so different they pull you right into all drama a must read you can't miss.
I'm so looking forward to more of these characters in the next book.
AWESOME INTRIGUING ADVENTURE I LOVED IT 🖤

Valkyrie Fallen by Laurel Night is book one in the Vikings & Vengeance Series. This is the first book I’m reading by this author and what an impression! (In the good way) I was so interested after reading the blurb, Odin? Valkyries? It was an instant must read now. I flew through this book, I didn’t want to put my kindle down. I love everything mythological so this delving into Norse lore was incredible. Then let’s add a dash of why choose romance and Vikings those are ingredients for a great book. Not only that but this was such an interesting spin adding in a time travel aspect. I thought the book was written so well and the plot had me hooked pretty much from the start. But what I loved was the worldbuilding, it was so good! I could imagine everything perfectly from the modern times to Valhalla. I really enjoyed the characters, they were written so well and each had such a distinct personality. I liked that the Vikings (the guys) weren’t perfect and that they each had flaws. But so far my favorite has been Brenna, she is so interesting. I love how her inner thoughts are written, how she acts and how she’s so resourceful. Overall this was a wonderful reading experience and I can’t wait for more.

Norse Mythology and Romance—with a twist!

I will admit, the twist on Norse mythology threw me for quite a loop. Seeing Odín portrayed in such a brutal light took some getting used to, as most of my readings didn’t delve into his more deceitful qualities and nature. The twist on Valhalla is both remarkably cool, and utterly horrifying. This book is clearly well researched!
Laurel Night has an incredible way with words, and this one draws you in right from the start.
I honestly wasn’t really sure so liked Brenna at the beginning of this book. She’s angry and she’s self destructive. Her saving grace is that she cares, too much most of the time. That’s the entire reason she’s angry and self destructive.
The romance felt natural, its progression smooth but compelling. Leif was an absolute cinnamon roll, and I couldn’t get enough of his sweetness! I loved how Bjorn understood her better than she could ever truly realize, how he empathized with her so well. Soren was a bit of a challenge to like at first, but I could understand his reasonings for being the way he was.

It’s a wonderfully creative story, absolutely one of a kind. I loved every minute of it! I cannot wait to pick up the next book!

This is a slow-burn story at the beginning but speeds up as the book progresses as the chemistry builds over time, It has a fair amount of humour—because, despite the battles, betrayals, and supernatural stakes, there's a sharp wit that slices through the tension, which really makes this book enjoyable to read.

Brenna is strong, sassy and big hearted – being her own person and doing what she believes is right is her strength, yet she doesn’t see it – she is grieving for the life she lost, depressed and doing her best to cope in her own unapologetic way and you cant help rooting for her from the very beginning.
Bjorn, Leif, and Soren are also all lost in their own ways until Brenna comes into their lives. She has a strong connection with Bjorn in this book and a blossoming connection with the other two. I also love the relationship between Brenna & Bjorn's sisters.

I am in awe of how thiis author blends elements of Norse mythology with her own creative twists, making the old tales feel fresh and vibrant. It's like she took the myths, shook them up in a jar with some modern storytelling magic, and sprinkled them throughout the book.

Another great read by this author with a fresh take on Norse mythology & Vikings.

I absolutely loved this story. We meet Brenna. She is strong, smart, caring, and feisty. She has a lot of trials and tribulations that she goes through even right from the very beginning. She really has a strong sense of self and is good with people even if she doesn’t see it in herself. We then meet up with Bjorn, Leif, and Soren and they definitely have a strong sense of family where they are extremely protective, strong and each give that bit of alpha energy and of course can we just say Viking, yep definitely a plus. I loved the personalities of each of the characters and how they all play off of each other. The story pulled me in from the very beginning as the story is well written and developed and keeps you glued to it. The story has a lot of drama and some suspense to it. We have a bit of action and boy does it feel like it is really leading up to one intense of a story. I love how detailed the story is. The descriptions are vivid and this allows me to easily picture what is happening throughout the story. We get to the end of this book and goodness what a surprising ending it is. I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next. This is an absolute must read!!!

Fantastic story

I am just dying to read the next book in this series!! This book was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! Brenna was one of Odin’s Valkyries but didn’t agree with what they were supposed to do, so she was banished to Midgard (Earth) and disappeared. Current day, she is found, and her punishment is to be forced to go BACK to the 800’s and redo everything she was supposed to have done before. After an initial bad impression, she finds work with Bjorn. I loved her relationship and what she did to help out Bjorn’s family. She is secretly given back her armor which is her soul, and she is able to use her abilities to help more.

She discovers that Bjorn and his 2 friends, Leif and Soren, have been secretly building a boat to compete on their own in the raids. She instantly connects with all three of them… but has to earn their trust and tell them exactly who and what she is.

The ending was great and was a fantastic lead into the next book! I can’t wait to read it!!

I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

4.5 ⭐️
Steam: 2/5
Characters: 5/5
Plot: 4.5/5

Why Choose
Slow Burn
Viking Era
Norse Mythology
Forced Proximity
Strong FMC
Harem Builds Over Time

Brenna is a Valkyrie. Centuries of sending worthy warriors to Valhalla has taken its toll. Disobeying Odin’s orders costs her everything and she is banished to Midgard to live among humans…again. She finds herself in the 800’s in Viking territory and in the center of conflict.

Three very different men who are found family become the epicenter of Brenna’s new world. Bjorn with his farm, 3 orphaned sisters, & responsibilities; Soren with his serious expression, surly attitude, & suspicion of everyone; and Leif the youngest, prettiest, & heart on his sleeve.

The foursome forge a tentative bond to work together for their mutual benefit but can they remain true when outside forces, both supernatural and human, work against them?

This is a slow burn, build a harem as the story goes romance. The characters (both main & secondary) are wonderful and richly described. The story is absorbing and entertaining. Can’t wait for book two.

Vikings... check.
Valkyries... check.

What more could you ask for really? Brenna is on the run from Odin, she's managed to avoid him for a thousand years by disappearing when he gets close and changing everything about herself but this last time she's not so lucky. He throws he back in time with the knowledge of what she will lose in the future and is sent back to when she was first to the beginning.

She's not entirely sure what she will do, and when she's drawn to a fight she meets Bjorn, Leif and Soren for the first time but it isn't the only time their paths will cross.

I really enjoyed this book, literally for the fact it was Vikings and Valkyries which are two of my favourite things. Brenna is struggling with depression and grief for what she has lost, not only the things from the future but the people she met along her journey who she outlived and lost. She doesn't believe she is deserving of a happy ending, but I'm telling you right now that she totally is and I can't wait for the next book to see where the journey goes.

If you love a fierce FMC, this is the book for you!! Brenna is a Valkyrie, yes THOSE Valkyries!! She tough as nails, strong and intelligent. Due to standing up to Odin, she gets banished to Midgard (Earth). After a thousand years, he feels she hasn't suffered enough and throws her back in time for a do over to the time of Vikings. So now on top of losing her home, she also lost the convenience of modern technology and medicine. She quickly adjust and surprisingly finds herself a found family. She also meets 3 men who all slowly fall for her- Bjorn, Lief and Soren. While they meet under strenuous circumstances, they slowly build trust and respect for each other. I loved the slow build of this relationship dynamic! None of them want love, but there is some serious chemistry and attraction that makes for some angsty moments. I loved how fierce Brenna is and how her guys are initially insecure but quickly learn to appreciate her and everything she is. I can't wait for the next book to see how they fare on raids and hopefully see more appearances from the Asgardians!

Ugh I love Vikings. As sad as I am that there wasn’t much in the way of battles, it’s completely understandable at this stage of the series. There also so much back story, trauma, and “getting to know”, we had to be caught up on, its no surprise there wasn’t much left for battles. However I still loved this book and the characters. Brenna is just as stubborn as the men she curses for it, but also understandably gaurded and suspicious. Not to mention having to go through what she is for round 2, it’s no wonder she was skeptical about opening up. Bjorn and Leif are my favorites, for opposite reasons. Leif is convinced of his own shortcomings but also uses them as determination to go after what he wants. Bjorn is stubborn and headstrong but it’s out of fear and love. He’s a grizzly bear, but also a teddy bear. I love it. Soren, I feel like could become a clear favorite but I think he has to get a better relationship with Brenna now that he trusts her enough. I’d also LOVE to see more about his ancestry, considering his 6th sense for things. Excited for the next book!

Brenna, a rebellious Valkyrie, was sent to Midgard with only her sword to keep her sanity and lived for a thousand years, only to be caught by Odin who does not think Brenna is fulfilling her role and keeping her promises - so he decides she needs to try again, sending her back over a thousand years to live among Vikings. Her sudden appearance, her looks and skills, stand out despite everything, and she quickly gets entangled in the events that are happening in the Viking village, trying to follow her own plans.
The story starts as a slow burn romance, set into medieval world of Vikings with the added element of Norse mythology, but gradually speeds up in both plot and romance towards the end of the book, complicating the relationships with love triangles and rectangles with quite some drama. Some scenes are hilarious, some hot, sometimes I can't help but thinking it must be completely obvious Brenna has lived in our century by the way she speaks and acts. I still enjoyed the book very much and looking forward to the second book.

I'm not sure where to start with this book. The world building is amazing. I love the history and norse mythology. The research that went into this was fantastic to read and picture. If you appreciate attention to detail you'll love the set up and those additions to the story. That said, it does slow the pace of the story down a bit. I, personally, love that stuff so it was a positive for me. I love the FMC's character development, it's complex and shows depth. I think the focus was on her more in this book and it hints at more character development for the men in future books. This definitely has a slow burn vibe to it and adds some mystery with how things will play out in future books with the gods and with her men. Overall it's a great start to a new series. The focus was definitely on world building and character development in this first book and it seems like the set up is there for more adventure to happen as the series continues. I'm looking forward to the next book!
