Laura Shipley is an indie author who writes steamy historical romance with hot, alpha heroes and strong-willed, independent heroines. Through thick and thin, they find their way to love. She's been reading romance longer than she wants to admit and has an unhealthy obsession with coffee. When not writing happily ever afters, she spends time with her family including her husband and 2 rambuctious children.
Arabella has barely any feelings about her brother being sentenced to hang and then they have sex immediately afterward? What????
My advice to the author if she happens to read this- slow down and invest in the character’s emotions. I felt a little cheated at the end and a little horrified that Arabella doesn’t care at all about her brother’s execution.
This is the second installment of Laura Shipley’s Warrior series. While this can be read as a standalone, it does revolve around a group of former British soldiers who were wounded fighting in New Zealand in 1864. This book features Dorian Shaw, who lost a leg in the fighting. He believes he is now useless to society . He goes home to Yorkshire to take over his late brother’s business. In his reclusive state he is reacquainted with Arabella Cooper, the sister of a former friend, who has been harboring a secret love for Dorian for all the years he was in the army. She is the one who finally brings him out of his shell and back to living a normal life. There are nefarious doings in town with local businesses, and Dorian is recruited to secretly ferret out the sources and bring the culprits to trial. All’s well that ends well,! Loved this book which was a page turner from the beginning.
Another incredible story in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end, the way this author is bringing heroine's in to be the light during the darkest moments of the hero's life is just astounding. And I look forward to the next book in this incredible series.
