Oh, the decisions we make when we’re young which with age we come to regret. If I could have a do-over, I’d never have walked away. But I did. It was done, and my actions couldn’t be taken back. I was only twenty, and I believed I had time to find my special one. Then life threw me a curve ball that altered all my plans. The result being I could never forget the man I’d met so briefly on the road. The question of what would have happened if I stayed with him is constantly on my mind. What would my life have been like if I’d been braver? What if I hadn’t walked away? Would I have ended up a weary thirty-five-year-old croupier in a Vegas casino with no man by my side? When fortune offers me a second chance, it comes with strings attached. The man I’m attracted to is the prez of the Satan’s Devils MC, whereas I’m a law-abiding citizen who’s never broken a single rule in my life. Is there any way we could make a future together? Or should I run and never look back?
Manda’s life's always seemed a bit weird, starting with a childhood that even today she’s still trying to make sense of, then losing her parents in the late teens. Going from the tragic to the bizarre, who else could be unlucky enough to have had two car accidents, neither her fault, one involving a nun, and another involving a police woman?
There isn’t enough space to list everything that’s happened to Manda, or what she’s learned from it. But by using the rich fabric of her personal life, psychology degree, varied work experiences, and amazing characters she’s met, Manda is able to populate her books with believable in-depth characters and enjoys pitting them against situations which challenge them. Her books are full of suspense, twists and turns and the unexpected.
Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of Essex in the UK, the area’s claim to fame being the Wilkin’s Jam Factory at nearby Tiptree. She can usually find jars of jam which remind her of home wherever she goes. As well as writing books and reading, Manda loves walking her dogs and keeping fit. She lives with her husband of over 30 years, who, along with her son, is her greatest fan and supporter.
Manda is thankful that one of the more unusual, and at the time unpleasant, turns her life took, now enables her to spend her time writing. Confirming, in her view, every cloud has a silver lining.
Red’s Peril Part 2: The Prez’s Old Lady is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC Vegas series (which is a spin off to the original Stan’s Devils series) by the talented Manda Mellett. MC romance is definitely Ms. Mellett’s wheelhouse- but I imagine she would excel at any genre she chose to write. This is the second part to the story we started in book one- so if you haven’t read book one yet I highly recommend that you do so you don’t miss out on important details. As I said earlier, this is a fabulous MC romance with plenty of interesting elements, quirky characters, edge of your seat developments, drama, twists, agendas, mystery, friendship, camaraderie, emotion, and more… After reading the first book, I was well and truly hooked, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on part two. This was everything I could have hoped for, and more. Looking forward to reading ‘Warts an’ All’ (coming soon)…
This has to be one of my favourite stories. I love how this guy Red loves his family, but knows that they will always have to exist alongside his MC family. He never tries to make one more important than the other, yet he manages to make both feel like they are his everything.
This is a story of acceptance, of diversity and of love, and the journeys some of us have to travel in order to find them.
Wow is all I can say. This book is definitely my favourite by this author so far. I have been a huge fan of this author for a few years now and have absolutely loved every book of theirs that I have read but due to a very personal reason this just has to be my personal favourite. I won’t mention why as this may be a spoiler and I wouldn’t want to spoil anything for anyone intending to read this. One thing I will say is that I love that this author tackles such issues and is such an advocate of diversity and inclusion. This is the 2nd part of Red’s story and I absolutely loved reading Red and Cher’s story. After reading the first book I was desperate to find out how their story would pan out and I was not disappointed. I’m totally in awe of how this author creates all these amazing biker guys and as well as writing amazing romance stories for them, also adds great accompanying storylines to run alongside the romance aspect. I’ve no idea how she keeps track of all of them and their back stories. If you love reading about MC’s and enjoy a good romance story that’s also filled with drama and danger then this book (and the first part of this story) should be right up there at the top of your list.
We are exploring so much in this book. I like how really world issue in the LGBTQ+ are brought forward. How Red and Cheryl are relating to each other over the past. How Red is adjusting to his new findings. There some opression but this just shows what the world is like today due to lack of understanding. Red and Cher I really enjoyed there back story and the reconnection which happen slowly through this book. I enjoyed meeting Zeeke thier character is very unique. Of course there always drama with the MC all of these books keep me on edge and on my toes every book in this series I have to read in a day.
We FINALLY get to see him with a HEA. After book one I wasnt routing for him and Cher, though this certainly changed when we met her properly thought this book.
Though for me the person that stole the show was Zach. Despite not fitting into any social norms square, the mc kids take them in, while kids are cruel, it mostly a learned behaviour.
The first book left me with so many question that were all answered in the second part. Red and Cher get an second chance at love after 15 years add in Zeke a kid Red didn’t know he had Red will do anything to keep them both. Zeke is an amazing kid how can you not love him! Manda this book opened my eyes with the LGBTQ+ and what they go though. I can’t wait for the next book!
I absolutely enjoyed the second part. Lots of twists and turns. Cher and Zeke were wonderful characters. Wait until the rat part. That’s all I’m going to say. I’m so glad after 15 years they were able to cone together again.
I never knew more details about nonbinary and how much bullying and molesting that goes on for them.
This was the book that should have been just one I all but skipped the first part to read this second one and this one made up for it I loved it I read three-quarters of it last night I couldn't put it down. But now we're moving onto the second generation I hope we still see the men and women I've come to love
In the prequel to this book, Red's Peril: Part 1, we were introduced to the characters of Red and Cheryl. They had met completely by chance on one of Red's stops along his journey to finding himself. Cheryl was a waitress in a diner that Red stopped at to have a bite to eat and the two of them felt an immediate attraction to each other. Acting on impulse, Cheryl left everything behind to ride off into the proverbial sunset with Red on his motorbike. When it wasn't everything that she had hoped it to be, Cheryl became spooked and cut their journey short.
Neither saw the other again until by pure chance they ran into each other in Vegas. Even though 15 years had passed neither had stopped thinking about the other and wondering what could have been. Both Red and Cheryl have attempted to move on with their lives over the years but have regrets for leaving things the way that they did all those years ago. With no way of contacting each other through the years they had no idea of what could have been or if things could have worked between them.
Now that Red has popped back into Cheryl's life, he's not the man she was expecting. He's now president of a Satan Devil's MC and she knows that isn't the life that she wants. She's always been an upstanding citizen and never broken the rules and has no intention of starting now. The problem is that they have both lived with regrets for the past 15 years over what could have been. Cheryl deeply regrets the decision that she made about walking away and wonders if there's any way that they can be together. Cheryl must decide If it's worth it or if she should just give up all hope of him being the man that she wants him to be and just move on.
I fell in love with Red in the first book and loved everything that he stood for. Most would not find a redhead sexy but somehow Red was not only desirable but also a nice guy that would protect those that he loved at all costs. The first book left us on a cliffhanger as we wondered what was going to become of Red and Cheryl. Part 2 picked up right where the first book left off and immediately drew you back into the storyline.
I have loved everything that I have read by this author, and she never fails to disappoint. The characters are well-rounded, and you instantly fall in love with them. In book one we learned that neither Red, nor Cheryl, were perfect or flawless which makes them more believable as characters. In this book we are also introduced to Zeke who is a non-binary character. I fell in love with their character and admired their strength. The storyline is amazing and leaves you wanting to read right to the very end. This book is a must read!
Book one: The Making of an MC Prez was such an amazing read, I was left with one of the worst book hangovers ever, to say I was eagerly awaiting the release of book two would have been an understatement. I just knew I going to be in for one hell of a treat with the second part of Red, Cher and Zeke’s story, however Manda surpassed any expectations I had with this beautifully written story of a love lost and found again.
Being reunited after fifteen years apart, things would of have obviously changed for both Red and Cher, now there’s one big change for Red in particular as he has to come to terms with the fact that he’s a father, he’s missed out on fifteen years of his child's life already, there’s no way he’s missing out on a minute more, even if he doesn't get the relationship he’d like to have with his childs mother he’s still going to be there for them. Zeke is open minded when it comes to having a relationship with their father, and whilst the connection’s still there between Red and Cher, there are some obstacles in their way, Red just needs to convince Cher that both he and his club are worth taking a chance on.
I love a book where the storyline just grips you, and if you learn something new or gain more knowledge about a subject you didn't know beforehand, well that makes it even better, and that’s exactly what happened here with The Prez’s Old Lady. Obviously in this day and age I've heard the term ‘non-binary’ before, however I haven’t had any interaction with any individuals who identify as being non-binary and to be quite honest with you I was rather ignorant when it came to the ins and outs of the meanings behind the term, but thanks to Manda and her wonderful way with words I’m more clued up and understanding than I was before. Manda, you've really outdone yourself with this one, giving us readers a wonderful love story, overcoming all preconceptions, I personally know quite a few people who could learn a thing or two from reading this book. Cheers again for another book hangover, till next time. Ride or Die, SDMC 🏍💀
I have been waiting impatiently for this latest novel in the ‘Satan’s Devils MC’ series having been left with a real cliffhanger at the end of Part One, well I was definitely not disappointed with this second part of Red’s story. Part Two carried on seamlessly from the ending of the previous book so I would recommend reading them in order. This is the Prez of the ‘Vegas Chapter’, Red’s story along with Cher, the women who got away, and Zeke, his fifteen year old child, which he knew nothing about. Not only does Red want a relationship with Zeke but he also wants one with Cher, as he has never forgotten her and no other women has been her equal. Cher has also compared all men to Red and never stopped wondering what would have happened if she had not left him all those years ago. However, finding out that the young man she knew is now the Prez of the ‘Satan’s Devils MC’ has her wondering if she really knew him at all. Whilst getting to know Zeke and spending time with Cher, Red also has the demands of the Club to deal with.
Red wants both his MC family and his other family, but Cher is not convinced that she is ‘old lady’ material. Red also has to come to terms with the fact that Zeke recognises as being non-binary, and some of his MC are not happy. This is another fantastic MC novel by the author and as usual it is wonderfully written and the descriptive narrative brings the characters and the setting to life, making me feel immersed in the ‘Satan’s Devils’ world. I loved Red, Cher and Zeke and enjoyed seeing their relationships develop throughout this story. The storyline is fast paced and full of drama, suspense and romance with plenty of plot twists which had me hooked from start to finish. I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this novel and was impressed how the author has included the issues surrounding individuals who are non-binary, and thought this was dealt with sensitively. This was an exciting, enjoyable and engaging read, and having read this in almost one sitting, as I literally could not put it down, I will now have to eagerly wait for the next book in the series!
Cheryl is a woman who has had troubles in her life and regrets that she has held onto for a long time, mainly surrounding the man she left behind at twenty, the biker who whisked her away at the drop of the hat and whom she has never forgotten. She still thinks about the life they could have had of she had made a different decision, one that wasn’t based on the fact she was cold and homesick, but the years have passed and she has been more of a nomad than she would have liked, but with good reason and now she has ended up in Las Vegas.
She believed that she had all the time in the world to find the one, settle down, have a man by her side and the whole white picket fence, but instead she is thirty five, single and a Croupier at a small casino with a comfortable, of not perfect life. That all changes when the man she has held a candle for all this time one day turns up in that same casino, but what she sees is not what she expected in the least, yes she knew he was a biker, but now he is a member of an outlaw MC and not just that, he is the Prez, a man of authority and pride in his club!
As she slowly reconnects with the man she fell for, but thought she would never see again, she comes to realise that if they are to have a future together, that it would come with strings attached, mainly the other members of the MC he calls brothers and the fact that although they are law abiding, it isn’t the be all and end all like for her, as a civilian. Can Cheryl look past the leather cut and the MC life she is faced with, or will she leave again and never look back? Could she see herself with this association for the rest of her life, with an uncertain and possibly violent future, or will she be accepted and be able to live the dream she has long for all this time? This is an MC romance with suspense, secrets and revelations where hard decisions need to be made and consequences planned for, but with twists and turns throughout, you will race through the story as you will not want to put it down until you find out how it ends.
This sequel was off the tops of being amazing. I loved the previous novel, of reading about Red's story and how he came to be, but this one gave me more insight and I was blown away at times, and as always the writing is off the wall amazing! I wanted so badly to see Red end up with the one he loved dearly in the first one. Things didn't go as I anticipated in this one, but that is truly what made this one as realistic as it was. First meets can lead to second chances sometimes, or maybe if you turn the corner you will find something you never knew that could be very much what was possibly meant for you all along! The story was engaging as the first. My opinion of Red is the same, he is still a sweetheart, and a wonderful character to the book as well as this series! I loved how Red is someone who cna love easily, be it with himself (maybe not 100% all the time), but also with his family which is the family that he helped contribute to make, or with the woman he cares for with his heart. This book was beautiful, and Red and his story of becoming truly came to light for me. I was exceptionally happy and impressed while reading this story. It was amazing and perfect in every way! Couldn't ask for more! I love this author and the books they write truly with all my heart. The story of Red and how he became who he was, certainly has t be one of my favorites though. I say that this book is a must read for sure, honestly amazing book, seriously read it!
Red's Peril Part 2: The Prez's Old Lady (Satan's Devils MC Las Vegas Chapter) by Manda Mellett
This is not the first book I've read by the author. I've read most of the Satan's Devils MC Series and I've got to say they keep getting better and better. The author knows how to keep the readers interested.
Red has worked his way up to being Prez. When he runs into an old flame and sees that the kid she has looks like him things change. Can he accept his kid for the way they are? Challenges come, but Red isn't backing down. The quote I chose for Red is: “Your mom and I need to have a conversation. To say I didn’t expect things to turn out how they have when I came here today is the understatement of the century. But whatever, you’ll be seeing me around. Now I know I’m your dad, I’m not going to stay away.”
Cheryl is now going by Cher and has been raising Zeke on her own. She wanted to let Red know, but had no way of contacting him to let him know. Zeke isn't like most kids and prefers to be called them and they. Can she let Red back into her life? The quote I chose for Cher is: “I was stupid. My only excuse is that I was young, and never before had been away from home. I missed my mom, missed my creature comforts. It wasn’t until I watched you ride away, that I knew I missed you more.”
Though not the first book of this author, or even in this series, to have an LGBTQIA+ character, I was THRILLED at the representation! I was worried at how having a non binary character would be executed, but I should have known this author wouldn't disappoint. Continuing exactly where the first book left off, this one have me up late into the night and even drew some grunts and squeals while reading, I was so invested. Action, mystery, found family, and romance are the main themes here, but most impressive was the way the book addressed discrimination and bullying. I think this has to be my favorite Satan's Devils book yet. Finally reuniting after 15+ years, Red and Cheryl are a couple to root for. The trials and tribulations they go through are not for the faint of heart, and going along for the ride felt like such a personal experience. The best thing about this book is that no matter how the cards are stacked against any one member, the entire Satan's Devils MC stands behind them. Such a beautiful literary example of a found family. No where near perfect, but always there when you fall. I would definitely recommend reading Part 1 first, or maybe even some of the earlier novels in this series, but however way you go about it, pick this series up!
Our paths have entangled again, he broke my heart but can he forgive the secrets I have been holding deep in my past for so long.
There she is again, the feelings are still there but will she be able to understand my lifestyle and accept who I am today.
This story picks up straight after the first book and answer so many questions that was raised in the first instalment and you really now see these characters as they have grown up over the years. I love how these characters compliment each other and show there vulnerabilities with an openness and you are just willing them to get together.
The whole story was well written and drawn you back into the story from the first words read, I also have a infinite for the secondary characters which added another dimension to this wonderful book. I have to say that the author addresses some topics within the story with dignity and inclusivity which is breath taking to read. I would not recommend reading this book within out reading the first one, although the story flows you do really need the background to these people to full enjoy the book.
I can't wait to read the next book from this wonderful author and may the books keep coming.
Red’s Peril Part 2: The Prez’s Old Lady (Satan’s Devils MC Vegas Chapter #2) by Manda Mellett
5 Stars
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book after finishing Part 1. I've read so many of this author's books it feels like the MC is just part of my life now. Don't even try to read this one without reading part 1, I did read it and had to stop and think and remember a few things. This is just another addition to an awesome multi series story. A series that spans many different chapters but still feels like one family.
Red and Cher’s story was awesome, although they didn't grab me quite as quickly as many others’ stories it was still a book I had a hard time putting down for the everyday life things. It touched on subjects that have become a reality in real life and “keeping it real” is what has made me fall in love with this author.
Each story in all of these chapter series is always fresh and new, never predictable and as always I can not wait for more.
If you have not entered the Satan's Devils clubhouses yet, I highly recommend you open that door, you will never want to leave!
This is the second part of Red's story and after reading the first part I was so desperate to see how this story and Red's and Cheryl story would pan out. The author does an amazing job handling subjects such as Red's son being non-binary. This subject is handled in an open and honest way and shows both sides such as the support but also the negative reaction that people can face.
From the first book the connection between them was electric and after the reconnected all these years later the feelings haven't changed. However they both need to relearn and get to know each other all over again. And its not just them. Red needs to learn how to juggle being the president of an MC with being a dad and Cher needs to learn about his life and his club and figure if there is a place for her and their son in it. With both of them having very different lives now can they work through it all and make their relationship work this time? Will Red finally get the family and the woman he has always loved? Or will the club cause a wedge between them that becomes unfixable.
So, I usually don’t grab books like these and read them but after reading book one, I honestly could not wait for this one to come out. And once again I was not disappointed. Red finding his love again and it was like nothing changed was incredible. the situations that come up and the way Red handles everything is amazing. There was one part that at first, I was thinking oh this is going to happen this way, but it did really caught me off guard, and I loved it. It kept me wanting to read more and very entertaining. I honestly hope there is more to this story then what there is. The one thing I do have to say is one of the people in there is binary, so they use the term they and them which I had to stop and think for a second because I have never had to use these terms yet. I love how these types of gender and identifications are in this book. It was great to actually learn about the way they are and what they mean. Great book and amazing read. so entertaining, kept me on the edge of me seat wanting more.
5 Stars Red’s Peril Part 2: The Prez’s Old Lady (Satan’s Devils MC Vegas Chapter #2) by Manda Mellett
Red’s Peril Part Two : The Prez's Old Lady is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC Vegas Chapter. With each new chapter and each new member we get to meet I become a bigger fan. This author is an amazing writer her attention to detail and her characters I freaking love them all. They are all unique and each have their own story and this author makes them come right off the pages. My goal is to go back to the beginning and re-read everyone one in order. Im literally running out of things to say about this author. I highly recommend reading this book and any other books by this author. This is part two of Red’s and Cheryl’s story and it picks up right where book one left us. Get ready to be taken on a fast paced journey . Find out if these two can overcome their pasts and the secrets she carries can he be patient enough while she figures things out for herself? I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
I'll have to be careful here. Three pages of reviews and they're all 5 stars. Manda is a talented author with well written (and obviously researched) stories. The characters are well developed and carry over throughout the series. (I am definitely in love with Drummer.) This book was a challenge for me to appreciate as much as previous books in the series. The focus was so intent on telling the story of a non-binary teenager that the MC was far in the background for almost half the book. I think the focus was too limited and the story would have flowed more cohesively by engaging the club sooner. It also led to Red being very passive, not the stronger alpha male I had come to know him to be. The co-mingling and acceptance of multi-race, gender identities, and physically and mentally challenged people throughout the entire SD series is encouraging, but I don't think realistic. (Unfortunately.) Yes, I want Manda to continue to promote inclusion, but I don't want it to become a fairy tale.
This is the second part of Red’s story, so it is not a standalone. The first book was more of a recap from events of previous Satan’s Devils series with pertinent parts of Red’s story mixed in. My suggestion is to read the other series before you start this one so nothing is spoiled for you. I really feel that there were pieces from the first book that were crucial to this story that could have been condensed down and merged with the second part to make one book.
That being said, THIS IS THE STORY I CAME FOR! Part two lives up to the standard that I am used to reading from this author. The suspense, the drama, the real-life struggles of the characters - I am here for it!!! I loved that Cher is a strong character. And Zeke… loved their ability to not let what they’ve been through make them hate the world. I’m glad I stuck with it after being slightly disappointed with part one, because part two was everything I needed.
I love this story. Red and Cher are soulmates that at first didn’t fit together, but now fifteen years later have found one another again. When they parted ways they were young, dumb, and just exploring their world. What they didn’t know was that they had a happy accident, that was their kid. When they meet again its fire and hailstone between them, until they figure out being apart isn’t helping any of them. Red is smacked in the face with his first love and the child they created together, he is upset that he didn’t know about it, but soon realized neither had anyway to contact the other. Cher is a proud single mother, but when her and Red gets together again she’s in for a whole new life lesson. Red comes with a whole club of family members and extended family. Cher isn’t so sure but soon realizes that her son is blooming under the umbrella of the club and the members. They fight for each other and for the club, in the end them being together is what was destined by fate long ago.
After reading the first book I eagerly awaited this one, I just wanted to know so much. The way Manda as written this story really opened my eyes into a better way of understanding what non binary is and how the world should really be understanding of a person no matter of which way they identify.
I absolutely loved the love story between Red and Cher they held onto that love for all those years of being apart and instantly clicked back together, they totally warmed my heart. I would really love to read a book from Chers point of view. In true MC style when the Satan devil's were in trouble they all came together and fixed what needed to be fixed. Ohh the twins in this book are a future read I can't wait to fix my eyes on, how fun are they?
Thank you once again for a fantastic read Manda, I'm absolutely full of questions that I need answering and these other men need to hurry and get talking to you :)
Manda Mellett take you educating me the read what it means when some one is nonbinary. Bring into light no matter what someone's sexuality, color or even religion is they are human. In everyday life we see the bully and fear from people because someone is different. Zeke, is a great character they way he was written was to be strong, fierce and his true self, what he endured because he I should say they were not accepted has normal. Red and Cher love story had alot of ups and downs. Her fear that Red would not accept his son nonbinary because he was in an MC. But Red and the MC proved her wrong. Red immediately accept his child unconditionally. Zeke and the twins were awesome and funny. Petty's attitude towards Zeke was a normal response but he changed his attitude .
This story is full of mystery . who wants to destroy the MC Make sure you read book 1 first you won't be disappointed.
This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading part one before this one as well as the previous books in this series. It will help enhance your enjoyment and give background on the characters. This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up by her. Her writing style and attention to details make her stories pop. They pull you into the story from the first word. This book is no different. I loved being pulled into the story by the characters. They are connectable and truly made the story for me. This is a fast paced story that is full of action and steamy bikers. I enjoyed the growth of the characters as well as the plot throughout the story. The chemistry with the characters is strong and the secondary characters are supportive. This is a must read story that I highly recommend.
This is yet another ☆☆☆☆☆ star read. You get sucked into the first part of this series. Leaving you to wonder and waiting for part 2. Well I could not wait any longer. As predicted. This author did not disappoint. Her story was not only intense. For me there was yet another aspect of life I had no clue about. The characters are a well rounded group of men and women. Red being the Prez of this MC always puts his family first. Char included, Char is about to reconnect with Red, but is she ready? Is Red ready to have his life changed, for the better? This is a fast moving rollercoaster of emotions. Get out the chocolate, tissues and whatever else you need. This is going to keep you locked in place. I absolutely love this MC series. I recommend you start the series with book one. Become friends with all the men of Satan's Devils.
Red’s Peril Part 2: The Prez’s Old Lady (Satan’s Devils MC Vegas Chapter #2) By Manda Mellett 5 Stars
To say this book is interesting would be an understatement. This book was amazing! This book was unlike her other novels. This story took her writing to a whole new level. This author incorporates people from different races, genders and sexual preferences into her stories. I loved the fact that there was a non binary character in this book. I absolutely adored Zeke! He had such a strength of character with all that he had to endure. I admit that I do t know much about this topic but this book has opened my eyes and helped me to understand a whole other aspect to the human race. I think this is an excellent sequel to the first part. This author amazes me with every book that I read from her.
I don’t have a lot of experience around motorcycle clubs as the only one local in my area is all veterans. They are all very respectful and wouldn’t use harsh language in front of a lady. This novel is chalked full of atrocious language and I really feel that without the “F” word every two sentences the story would have flowed much more steadily. The storyline itself follows Red who is Prez of his motorcycle club and Cheryl the woman he left behind some 15 years ago. Red finds out he is a dad to a non binary child named Zeke and he proceeds to be super understanding and tries his best to make the best out of what could potentially be a chaotic situation. I really appreciated the authors attention to detail and the way the characters were written. The storyline was mainly character driven and does get a bit steamy. Ok it gets a lot steamy!! Better read this one in a walk in freezer.
