Didn't enjoy reading this book.
Characters in this story are supposed to be trained FBI agents, they do their jobs but act like teenagers. Violent, gruesome revenge murders. Good teachable story, 2.5 stars.

Violated by Carolyn Arnold is labeled book number 5 in her Brandon Fisher FBI Series but is a stand-alone novel. I had not even heard of Ms. Arnold, much less read any of her books before Violated, which I was lucky to receive from Amazon for free via BookBub.
In Violated, FBI Agent Paige Dawson is arrested for a gruesome murder we know she did not commit, but the coincidental and circumstantial evidence points to her as the guilty party. How her colleagues, including former boyfriend Brandon Fisher, prove her innocence by finding the real killer is half the fun. Watching Ms. Arnold tell her story with such confidence and clarity is the other half.
Employing elements of noir and hardboiled crime fiction (“His hand hovered above his weapon, ready to draw it, looking for one good reason to.”), Ms. Arnold does not waste words, writes intelligent dialogue, creates interesting characters whose motivations she understands, and punctuates the first-person narrative with humorous sarcasm. Despite its disappointing ending (the words sappy and lame come to mind), Violated is an entertaining novel skillfully telling a complex tale.
A final note. Ms. Arnold prides herself on writing realistic police procedurals. I don’t know to what extent FBI field agents are trained in self-defense techniques, but I do know that many police departments train their officers in Krav Maga, which includes an easy but effective solution how to neutralize a knife attack in the back. An illustrative video is available on YouTube. After reading the ending of Violated, I recommend that hot shot Special Agent Jack Harper watch the video, and report back to headquarters for sorely needed remedial training.

You will be kept gripped throughout this psychological thriller, turning the pages quickly. An easy read detective novel with very graphic details of the crime scenes.
The characters are really brought to life and you can imagine yourself being at each scene in the book through the brilliant descriptions. The secrecy of the villian of the piece and their actions for their misdemeanours add spice to the plot. The real question about this storyline is who has been violated, the killer or the victims?
As this is one of many in a series I cannot wait for the next one. In the modern age where it is difficult to create original plots and storylines with realistic characters praise must be given to the author for achieving this.

OMG! Violated by Carolyn Arnold has been the most thrilling and exciting story that I have read in the longest while. I can’t believe that I have never heard of this author before now. Thanks to Beck Valley Book Tours I had the privilege of being introduced to her work.
This is the fifth book in the Brandon Fisher series and there is no need to read the previous books prior to reading this one. However, I can assure you that after reading Violated you will be clamouring to get your hands on the other books in the series.
When I read the prologue I knew I had to discover how the story would unfold. It grabbed my attention from that moment and I was disappointed when it came to an end. I was eager to find out the reason behind the unsub’s actions. Was it revenge, or was it vigilante justice?
Now can you imagine travelling several hundred miles to confront the man who had destroyed your friend’s life only to find yourself being accused of his murder? Well, FBI agent Paige Dawson never for a minute suspected that this would happen to her when went to California. Thank goodness her team believed in her and would put out all the stops to prove her innocence. However, they have to move quickly has time is running out. Will they be able to find the killer before he/she kills again?
There are several things I liked about this book:
Characters:
The author’s portrayal of her characters. She focused on their strengths and weaknesses, making it easy for me to relate to them. They are dealing with real life issues, such as heartache, pain, and loss.
Paige played a significant role in this installment. The author highlighted that she was first and foremost a woman who had experienced devastating loss. She allowed her emotions to cloud her judgement, as a result, placing her in her current predicament. Her actions go to show no matter how trained we are in a particular situation there are times when emotions end up ruling our heads.
The UN-Sub:
I liked the fact that I got parts of the story from the killer’s perspective. I felt the emotions which made it easy to understand the reasoning behind the actions. It takes a strong person to experience what the killer did and survive. For a moment, I found myself justifying the killings. What I liked is the methodical way the killer planned each kill. The way in which the killer reeled in the victims was smart and well thought out.
Detective Grafton:
I find that whenever the FBI gets involved in a case they are always at loggerheads with the local police department. For this story, the same applied. It was evident that the detective was convinced that Paige was guilty. He was not interested in any other suspects. I found him to be arrogant. The way he behaved it would appear that he had a vendetta against the FBI. My respect for him grew a notch, however, when he realised how wrong he was and apologized. It takes a big man to not only admit he is wrong, but to also apologise.
Team Work:
This story effectively demonstrated the power of teamwork. I loved that Paige’s team had her back. The odds seemed stacked against her, but they were not about to throw under the bus.
Suspense:
The suspense factor of the story was riveting. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved that I had to keep guessing which for me is a good thing.
Credibility:
The story was credible. It was evident that the author conducted proper research before writing this book. The story moved quickly. There was no room for boredom. This is the type of story that just keeps giving readers a reason to turn the pages.
POVs:
The story was narrated from the first and third person POV. We received the killer’s and Brandon’s thoughts in the first person and for the other characters, it was the third person. The changes in POVs were done smoothly, as such there was no room for confusion. I like that I was able to see the story from each of the character’s perspectives which made it easy to understand the reasons for their actions.
What I did not like:
There was one aspect of the story I had a difficult time wrapping my mind around. This took place near to the end. I am still trying to figure out the killer’s actions at this point. I can’t go too much into this area without giving away the story. However, what I can say is that I could not see how the sudden change fits into the killer’s modus operandi.
Verdict:
If you love police procedurals and a good mystery you will enjoy this book. I recommend that you pick up a copy as soon as possible.
A note of warning, the crime scenes are graphic.

Carolyn Arnold can certainly tell a cracker of a story. She’s a 5 star storyteller.
What a terrific read this was. In the space of an afternoon I read the whole story, not wanting to put the book down until I knew the outcome.
Violated follows 31-year-old FBI agent Brandon Fisher who works in its Behavioral Analysis Unit. He’s just out of his probationary period and become a fully-fledged agent. His position in the unit and the present investigation into a murder is complicated by a past romance with a co-worker who is implicated in the crime. It rapidly develops into hunting for a serial killer with serious sexual and mental problems.
It’s the fifth in Arnold’s Brandon Fisher FBI series.
Given it’s the first one in the series I’ve read I was pleased to find it was a stand-alone story with just enough references to previous books for me to understand the back story and relationships.
I was intrigued by Arnold’s use of first person point of view for Brandon Fisher and the criminal the unit was tracking down, and third person for all other characters. I liked it. I felt I was in their minds, feeling and thinking everything they were.
The pace was fast, the characters well developed and real, and the dialogue no-nonsense and entertaining while also revealing depth of character.
Scene-setting is minimal; some authors can paint a picture with a few words and Arnold is one of them.
Anyone wanting more than a surface skimming of people’s intentions and motives should like these stories. Arnold obviously does a lot of research before putting metaphorical pen to paper, and it shows.

FBI Agent Brandon Fisher is one of the main characters of this series. This is the only book in the series I have read, yet I understood who everyone was and the relationships between the characters, possibly not as much had I read the first four books, but well enough to see character development. Not reading the first four didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the book. I liked it.
Agent Paige Dawson, Fisher's former lover, heads to Valencia, California with her new boyfriend, but she's not there just for a vacation. She is there to exact revenge on the man who raped her friend 20 years earlier. The rape started a downward spiral and led to her friend's suicide. Paige says she just wants to talk to him. However, she can't because he has been murdered. Paige is arrested when a neighbor calls the police after she caught her going into the back door of the man's home.
Brandon and his team head out to Valencia to help prove Paige's innocence and to try to find the actual killer. As it turns out, they are looking for a serial killer with a very unusual condition. There are some twists and turns as they try to find the killer before someone else dies, and they think they know who that will be.
I enjoyed this book. It wasn't my favorite, and it didn't blow me away, but I wanted to read to find out what would happen next. That's something a successful author should strive to create: keeping the reader interested. The only thing I didn't like is the back-and-forth from Brandon's point-of-view and Paige's point-of-view. Sometimes I could not tell whose perspective I was hearing or who said what. Otherwise, it was a good book

Violated purports itself to be a police procedural/thriller novel, but quite frankly is a weird love triangle dressed in sheep's clothing. There are so many things wrong with this book that destroys any credibility that it might hope to achieve.
Paige is an FBI agent who is arrested in the process of casually breaking an entering someone's house. She is charged with murder, because that person was found dead, murdered in a weird kink scene. She uses her one phone call to call her FBI partner, who happens to be her ex-lover, who for some reason is allowed to inject himself into the investigation. In what world outside of plot convenience would this be allowed to happen, I ask? This destroyed any sense of realism right off the bat.
A whole lot of largely pointless plot connivance happens, Paige's current love interest gets involved. I really lost interest in what was happening, and when the angle started, I was done with this novel. There was a serious lack of subtlety with this novel.
As I said at the beginning, this is pure daytime television drama nonsense, and attempts to take itself far too seriously for the fluff and nonsense that it is. There is a lot of overt violence in the novel, but this feels like window dressing to the real story, which is the love triangle.
If that's what you're looking for, have at it, but don't sell me mutton dressed up as lamb.

I received this book to give an honest review.
I have to say I think I found a new author to read. Though this book is number 5 I didn't feel as though I was missing anything by not reading the previous books. For that I am very grateful for!
A vacation to California for Agent Paige turns into something else and it will be up to the FBI to believe one of their own and solve the murder that has happened.
I really liked how teamwork played a really good part in this. No one just went off on their own to find answers, no ones idea was too crazy.
As far as characters go they felt well developed and even with the small feelings that were going on between Agent Paige and Agent Brandon it felt real.
The way everything was written and handled in solving the case and clearing Agent Paige's name you can tell the author did her research on the procurers.
As far as the killer I was very surprised that the killer was an individual I wouldn't have thought of. You always think either male or female in a case especially one that kills as graphic as this was done. So having that twist was awesome, and with Agent Zach giving some information was nice.
I will be reading more by this author not only because of her ability to pull you into the story but her writing style is on point.

I've read other books by this author and like her writing style, but I didn't think this one was very good. I found the characters in the book to be too stupid to be believable, including the FBI agents and all of the victims.

I had the opportunity to read an e-copy of VIOLATED in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story – Paige, Jack, and Brandon are compelling characters, the story line is intense, and the writing is streamlined. However, I would have liked more description/background of the characters, which there wasn’t much of. I felt like I knew next to nothing about Zach especially, and he’s one of the FBI agents in their group. I would have liked more description of the settings, too, which is ironic, considering I’m not a huge descriptive writer myself. But a few details about the setting would have helped. I know part of the problem is that I started with book 5, so I downloaded the free e-copy of ELEVEN, the first book in the series, which I look forward to reading. Overall, this was an entertaining read and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys adult thrillers.

I've read the previous books in this series and liked most of them so far. I didn't like the previous book! There was far too much of what Brandon was thinking!
This book started of with a bang! Paige has gone to California with her new boyfriend Sam. She has found out where the guy is who had raped her friend 20 years ago. She wants to talk with him and tell him that what he did led to her friend's death.
Paige's doing something really stupid! When she gets to Ferris house she goes to the backdoor when none is home. The door is open and she actually goes inside! I don't think that many FBI agents are that stupid but this is a book so it happened...
While she is still in the house the police shows up after a neighbor had told them about a woman that had gone inside. Ferris had been killed and now the police suspect Paige!
Jack, Paige's boss brings the whole team to California. After hearing about the details of Ferris death he suspects that a serial killer had killed him.
This book never slowed down. The story is told from both Brandon's and Paige's perspective and that made it a lot better. I listened to most of the book.
The book is free if you have Kindle unlimited.
This book started of with a bang! Paige has gone to California with her new boyfriend Sam. She has found out where the guy is who had raped her friend 20 years ago. She wants to talk with him and tell him that what he did led to her friend's death.
Paige's doing something really stupid! When she gets to Ferris house she goes to the backdoor when none is home. The door is open and she actually goes inside! I don't think that many FBI agents are that stupid but this is a book so it happened...
While she is still in the house the police shows up after a neighbor had told them about a woman that had gone inside. Ferris had been killed and now the police suspect Paige!
Jack, Paige's boss brings the whole team to California. After hearing about the details of Ferris death he suspects that a serial killer had killed him.
This book never slowed down. The story is told from both Brandon's and Paige's perspective and that made it a lot better. I listened to most of the book.

Why Paige, foolhardy enters the open back door of a rapist on her own after stalking him the previous night. He'd raped her best friend 20 years ago, and they had recently pulled the plug on her, confuses me. Paige , the ex girlfriend of Brandon and is also with the FBI, is using her romantic holiday as an excuse to track this rapist, now released, to see if he is still a serial rapist. Lying to his neighbour, trashing his home, no gloves, looking for clues is unaware the rapist has been found murdered the night before and she is arrested by local police. Nonplussed by her continued lies she is eventually released and her call to her colleagues starts a manhunt for a vigilante. This is a good series of books and enjoy this author but was disappointed how inept, Paige was and how she likes to go off on a tangent on her own. I also feel sorry for her new love Sam as she ignores those close to her. However can't wait for more to read.

This is a continuation of a previous story about an FBI Agent who's best friend died after being gang raped several years ago. Paige, the agent, has tracked down the man responsible and goes, on her own, to confront him. Meanwhile, the man is killed and Paige is arrested for the murder. From her on, her team, and former lover, come to try and rescue her and find the real killer. They find a similar case to this one and decide it is from the same person. The book winds around and finally the killer is taken. My first reaction to this story, is how can and FBI Agent be so stupid and then expect everyone to overlook what she did. The main character, Brandon, is a profiler, and he is trying to look into why the killer is targeting the men she is and also coming to grips with his hidden love for Paige. Interesting book.

Head strong Paige caused a lot of grief
Men were being killed and the conclusion was it had to do with rape, but by who a man everyone thought for the first victim and a woman for the second victim well that’s actually right yet it’s the same person. Paige wanted to get revenge for her friend, but he was murdered before she got to him but she broke into his house looking for evidence of date rape pills but was caught by the local police and was almost charged with his murder. She used her phone cal to contact Brandon instead of her boyfriend Sam who was back at the hotel, but Jack was informed and took the team to her, the FBI took over the investigation got her out of prison and they began to work this very unusual case. A great mystery and a good story highly recommended

Unstoppable!
This book was thrilling! It kept me on the edge of my seat. I started reading it at 10:00 at night and that was a mistake. I finally wrenched it out of my hands at 1:30 in the morning, knowing I had to be up at 8:00 in the morning. The next night I started again at 10:00, telling myself I would only read until midnight. Well, here it is , 2:00 am and I just finished the book. I'm not going to be able to sleep yet, I need to come down from the adrenaline caused by this book. Do not start reading it late at night unless you have time to finish it. I cannot recommend this book enough, it was thrilling, twisting, turning, gripping me in to the story and it wouldn't let go.

Paige Dawson is a member of the FBI BAU team with Brandon Fisher. They have loved each other since Brandon joined the team, had serious discussions on their feelings where they came to the decision that neither wanted to leave the team and knew it was against the rules to have a romantic relationship. Now, Paige has gone roage and went to Valencia Calif. to find the ones responsible for the rape and murder of her best friend 22 years ago. The past case brought her a person to find. Instead, Paige is in jail and charged with murder. The team work hard to prove she is innocent and find the ones responsible.

This is the first book I have read by Carolyn and I am hooked. I an definitely going to go and get the rest of this series.
This was one of those books that you just can't put down. There was so many twists and turns and I kept reading while I was cooking donner just so I could see what would happen next. I really liked that the author doesn't hold back with the crime scene and this one was brutal. But it makes the story feel more real and not fantasy. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys thrillers/suspense with police procedures

I enjoyed the book though it wasn't my favourite. I found the pace was not as fast as the previous ones. It had all the right mix of a killer, trouble between Brandon and Paige and cranky Jack! The killer was not your main stream type of character, quite different in fact. Paige is keeping the romance level alive and Brandon was being a bit of a jerk. I got to know Zack better than I have before as he's a bit of a dark horse. Jack did a good job at being himself, I'm actually getting to like him more. This is like having a family that you get to know more over time.

Paige worked for the FBI. She went to look to find her friends rapist. In the meantime she got caught in his apartment and arrested. They said she is suspected of the murder of him. Then the story gets to be more OMG as it goes on. More men were murdered most with the same horrible outcome of their murders. Paige got out of jail then and helped hunt for their murderer of these men. Their injuries will be shocking to many readers so be prepared for those parts - of the story I mean. A him or a her who is the murderer? is it the same person on two different people?

Retribution
Another tightly written, fast paced Brandon Fisher book dealing with several ugly crimes committed in today's world. In this book, the FBI is dealing with finding an unsub who has murdered two men (books opens with two murders which does increase in number by the end of the book). Ms. Arnold's books are highly addictive and definite page turners. I highly recommend the series!

I read this book in 2 days! Thats a first for me!
I really enjoyed this one.
Interesting and a total page turner.
This book can be read as a stand alone or start reading from book 1 if you want to commit to the entire series.
Book 5, however, was free on Apple Books for me but I think I want to start it from book 1 because I was hooked to this story.
It also had a small bit of romance which was refreshing considering how intense this story is.
I really enjoyed this one.

What the hell happened to the promised police procedural series. It flew out the window to be replaced with 90% angst-ridden teens who are meant to be professionals. I honestly think the author now has an editor getting her to add in more mills and boon rubbish to get higher sales. So disappointed, I hope she gets back on track with the next book, it is seriously putting me off any more series from her.

Quick read because it is fast pace, and gruesome murders. A few rapists get their due, I guess, but what a way to die, the FBI is not called but they get there before it becomes known as a serial killing. They get there because one of their own is accused of the murder, even though she is not caught at the murder scene. Will read more of this author’s books, even though she mixes romance with the mystery. And what a romance. Quite a bit of touchy feels, but still ok.

Back on Track
Seems like the author writes with more intensity in every other book. So this sequel in the series is back on track with a wonderfully engaging and intricate storyline. The relationships are becoming more solidified, even though it's taken 5 books and we are still in the dark about Zach and Nadia. Looking forward to the final book 6.

Excellent FBI Thriller
Paige Dawson, FBI BAU, goes on “vacation” to California and ends up getting arrested. Well she was really on the hunt for a murderer and her team comes to rescue her and continue to hunt for a serial killer. Arnold does a good job of character development and plot twists as bodies pile up. I highly recommend this book.

In the beginning it was a bit confusing by who is who. Than there was this terrible mistake from Paige to get into this house, a mistake a FBI Agent wouldn’t really make, but I guessed it was just the emotions what had driven her. Something her boss cannot understand .......

Better than I expected
I usually avoid books written by american women as they are generally dreadfull but i downloaded this in error.
I can't say I hated it although it got more and more unrealistic and quite boring towards the end.
The switching between first and third person is very irritating.
I wouldn't read anything else by this writer
