A face he recognizes. Is it a wanted murderer? Or is Jack Widow seeing double?
Tired of people, Jack Widow takes a break. He camps out in the Alaskan wilderness on Kodiak Island, relying on nothing but his survival skills. It's everything he wanted: quiet terrain, plenty of fishing, sleeping out under the stars, and no people. It seemed like the perfect vacation until Widow meets a man with a familiar face.
He recognizes a total stranger, but from where? The stranger goes by one name but has the face of another.
USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLER - Scott Blade is a Nomadvelist, a drifter and author. He writes the bestselling Jack Widow book series, two of which reached the Top 100 list on Amazon, knocking Harry Potter & Jack Reacher off the top spots, which angered one of the big publishers. Scott wears that fact as a badge of honor.
Scott Blade isn't a traditional novelist who spends his time stuck behind a computer desk in some dreary office. He truly walks the walk. He drifts around like the nomad he writes about, touring the world, writing mysteries and searching for the perfect coffee.
Plot and story was good but the book contained way too many typos to award it 5 Stars. I suggest hiring a new editor, or at least more observant beta readers.
Take some time away from people, they said. Go to Kodiak Island, they said. It will be fun, they said. It was too, until Widow got caught up in a 30 year old scam. This ended up with him in jail until a Coast Guard Investigator rescued him. One of their investigators was murdered and she wants Widow to held find out what happened. That leads to black market oil and someone that has been on FBI's 10 most wanted list all this time. Lots of action and a very interesting ending.
A man was chased by a bear and was saved by a man who looks like a bear. Window saved the guy by observing why the bear chased the man. aHe got fish in his sac and bear like fish.
He was taken to a lodge and stay the night for free. Window was just about to leave town but he missed the ferry and has to wait. While waiting he was followed and five men attacked him. He sent one to the hospital in self defense. He got arrested.
Widow stayed in holding cell and it is the bad guy mistake. He would have left if he was left alone. A rookie Coast Guard asked his help on an investiagtion. And found out the bad guys motive.
Action without a lot of characters development. Read like a B action movie.
Jack Widow is tired of having people all around him. Birdwatching on Kodiak island, why not. It could have been peaceful but those of us who knows Widow knows that he will always stumple into some kind of trouble. I have read "The Double Man" by Scott Blade and in my opinion it's one of the best books in the series. The first ones he had to rewrite and did a great job doing so. This one has it all, humor, action, murder, mystery and some thrills as well. I read this one in one sitting it was that good. I had so much fun I couldn't help myself. If you like me like the idea of a lone man roaming the country and helping people then this is something for you.
Well I need to start my review by one personal comment! Why when a book is good it’s always too fast to read and you almost feel sad since you have to wait for the next one to come out? I was just not able to put it down and now I will have to wait for the next one! Jack Widow is a hell of great series and thanks the author for sharing his talent with us!
In this one our hero does what he does best - tries to stay out of trouble only to end up arrested - again.
All he wanted to do was get away from people, when they come to him. He helps someone and finds himself in trouble. This time the coast guard hears about it and asks for help.
He finds himself, with our coast guard person, off trying to solve who’s out there killing people and why. It goes back years before it starts to take shape into the why.
It did get a bit confusing at first but slowly things come together and start to form very fast towards the end. I loved how the author closed the loop with all the different threads. It felt finished or however finished you can be with our hero going on down the road…
This book has to be a fucking joke, like surely…. Some guy who thinks hes gods gift writes a book and tries to make it so incredibly macho that the reader has to take a fucking lap to recover from the contents. Also. To be completely honest, when bros like describing his own physique and other men, i know the author is trying to make it seem very “manly” and STRONG but it comes off as extremely homosexual. Like if you describe your enemy as a “block of muscle with hugely impressive arms” and are constantly ogling over it. Babe you want a piece of it. So maybe the main character should have a think about his true desires before shooting folk.
Widow an on the run or absent without leave special forces investigator gets involved accidentally with a wanted man he saves from a hungry bear. This involvement leads to a criminal kingpin who previously has a retired FBI agent working on a private investigation murdered making an error of judgement in attempting to have Widow murdered because he believed he knew what he was doing. The result of this mistake leads to various attempts on Widows life with a steady pace to stories end.
finished yesterday 19th september 2021 good read four stars really liked it kindle part of a box set, owned, and the price was right. have been reading these in order unlike many other series where i've skipped around due to availability or that's my excuse. i dunno if the titles are unremarkable or what...could not tell you a single title #1-15 except for this one that's right in front of me "the double man".
Widow saves a man from a hungry bear. That one good deed leads him to a criminal kingpin on the FBI most wanted list. A death of a retired FBI agent who was working on a private investigation for the truth. A town Sheriff and a family that has been separated because of murder and greed. One deed leads to various attempts on Widows life . Fast paced, action and yes humour.
I love all 15 of the Jack Widow books in the series. He is a tough good man who helps all those he comes across in his travels that need help. Never sticks around for thanks, but moves on to his next undetermined destination. If you like action this is a great series for you to read. Each book can be read as a stand alone book. I highly recommend.
It was great to catch up with Jack Widow again. I have read all of the books in the series and enjoyed every one of them. I look forward to the next book, entitled ‘Nothing Left’, which is due for release in the summer of 2021. Keep up the good work Scott. From me another 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have read all of the Jack Widow series and will continue as long as they are this good. He is as good as "Dad- Reacher" when it comes to action, justice and just as much of a nomad. I would say the writing was better than "Reachers" last two as somehow since the author change is missing the essence of JackR.
the independent and feisty Jack Widow’s further adventures in Alaska
This installment finds Jack Widow in the wilds of Alaska for some down time. Once again he becomes embroiled in a complicated, many threaded skein of lies and deceptions perpetrated to cover up black market activities and to throw suspicion for a long-ago assassination of two FBI agents on an innocent pawn.
Yes, Widow is tired of ‘peopling’ and has been birdwatching on Kodiak Island for a couple of weeks when he saves a man from a bear. He soon becomes entangled in a murder investigation and finding someone on the FBI Most Wanted list. Good story!
Great read. New characters and the good guys were great. Bad guys good characters but, short lived. Great tale for a story. Widow and the Ensign were getting close in the near end of story. Saving their lives made a big impression to the three of them. Next story to get into.
I have just finished the double man, yet another great book from Scott. I have read all of the Jack Widow books in the series so , and they just get better and better. Once again Scott thanks, and look forward to the next instalment. Dave
New hero for me. Look forward to starting the series
Kept me interested from page 1. Widow is an interesting guy and easy to root for. Sadly, too many typos prevented this from getting a five star rating.
Jack Widow is another Reacher from Lee Child. I don’t know if Blade is copying him but he writes a lot like Lee Child’s. The story is very entertaining and it keeps you turning pages into the night. I highly recommend the Jack Widow series from Scott Blade. 5
I have loved traveling with Widow over the last few months reading his exploits. Can't wait for the next book to come out as I now feel a bit lost not having another episode to turn to
Listen up. I love this series. But was concerned because I was such an ardent Reacher fan and Mitch Rapp devotee, my interest would wane. Didn't happen!
Loved this story. Widow, see you in the next book with glee. Proman
This 1 wasn't too bad I got tired of hearing about the Sonia chick why keep mentioning her you're not with her nothing changed Like I said another filler which is annoying but other than that I like this Plot The story was Cohesive 4 star Review
Once again Scott blade has delivered a cracking book, great story line, just enough action keep you involved. Unlike reacher he uses his fore head not his elbow.
