Beck McKenzie with his lifestyle he never really set roots down after becoming MI-6 agent, but now he is one of the Owners of a private security (MBK Global Security)

There’s no getting around the fact Beck knew that he was adopted since he was 3 years old… the only thing he didn’t know is Where his Biological parents were from….. In his opinion he never really wanted to know, he figured that if they gave him up it was for a good reason

So what do you do when your life is turned upside down when you find out that your birth parents had died and that you are to be crowned King of a tribe in Zambia, Africa….. ……… and you are also told that your family might be linked to the deep 8 Then while you’re in that state of shock your living girlfriend moves out on you…..Well, this is what happen to Beck .. in a span of one day

For fear of Beck sight of his objective, and all the family drama, plus Deep 8 stuff and Beck being in the spy game too long, he was sent a Partner that he did not want

We had met Pippa in the Previous book… and she is Jess' foster sister and hacker extraordinaire

She is a Spitfire Redhead who basically nobody could handle but at the same time she was somewhat green compared to Beck, at every opportunity he tried to get rid of her
Once these two finally started working together and not against each other they had found out so many different things that was going on in this small community……..
I did enjoy the suspense and action in the drama that followed this couple in the remote area that they were located only thing that really didn’t catch my attention was the so-called romance part of the book…..
I do like the fact that the author gives you a bit of an idea of what the next installment is going to be
so up next is Declan’s book

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Deep 8 series. I have read and reviewed the first book in this book series. I really feel that you need to read the first book before this one because there is so much that this book feeds off of from the first book. It also pulls up right now the first book. I would not recommend reading this book as a standalone book. The beginning of this book was hard for me to get into. This book takes place in Zambia. This book brought this area and the hard times in this area to live. I also saw a couple of the twists coming before they where revealed. I did love the characters, and I was so happy we got more of Pippa in this book. Even though Pippa's character was only in a small amount in the first book I really loved her character. She has is so fun and crazy at the same time which brings so much to this book because Beck is so serious and hard to love at times. I loved the romance in this book. The action and suspense was good, but it was not has built up as the first book in this series. I think the characters and the romance was the big thing in this book, and the mystery and suspense was in the background in this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author (Kenzie Macallan) via Booksirens, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This series keeps getting better. I thought book 1 was good but book two was even better. Beck has always felt alone but when he was told he is now a king in his home town in Africa he didn't know what to thin. Going home where was born and raised for a few yrs came with many emotions . But he was put there for a reason so between personal and business he can't let things get too comfortable. When "Red" shows up everything blows up on his rules.

This is the first book that I have read by Kenzie Macallan but hopefully it won't be the last, this is an unusual story but in a good way.
Beck McKenzie, ex MI6 agent and now a partner in MBK Global Security, was dumb struck when he discovered that his life in New York wasn't what he was born to, he was to travel to Mubala, Zambia where he would be crowned King of the Sai tribe, he would do this and then hand over his crown to the brother that he didn't know existed and then return to New York.
Things didn't go to plan, attempts were made on Beck's life, someone wanted him dead.
Beck's brother, Wafiq and his wife Zahara lived in luxury, the family owned diamond and emerald mines but Beck was to discover poverty in the town.
Neil McFadden, Beck's ex boss in MI6 and now a partner, knew that things weren't right, Deep8, an unscrupulous Chinese organization were operating in the area, Beck needed back up.
Pippa Stevens, a fierce, stubborn, red haired ex hacker arrived in Mubala much to Beck's disgust, he worked alone, he would send her back, Pippa may be new to the job but she was tenacious and she was staying put.
The plot becomes very thick, more attempts are made on Beck's life but why did someone want him dead ? were his brother or sister involved, who could he trust >
After a very shaky start, Beck realised that Pippa had his back and she was good, the chemistry between them was electric, danger surrounded them, would Beck ever be able to leave Mubala and resume his life in the US, would Pippa be part of that life.
This is an enjoyable action packed story that twists and turns.

King was my first read from new to me author Kenzie Macallan, and it won't be my last!! I was so not sure about this book at first, but I continued on, and before I knew it I was sucked in to the world of Beck and Pippa. Beck always knew he was adopted, I mean he's a ginormous black man who was adopted by a white couple from the UK...he had a good life, he's been very successful, he's former military, former MI-6 then started his own security company. So he gets a phone call that turns his life completely upside down and leaves him reeling when he gets an assignment to go to Africa and get to know his family, and find out what they are up to. His world is turned again when he finds out he comes from royalty, and he is to be crowned king. Things take a weird turn, so someone is sent to help Beck, Beck isn't pleased and tries to send spitfire...badass Pippa away which she will have NONE of!! Beck ends up appreciating Pippa's presence, and feelings take a turn. Will Beck and Pippa end up together, will Pippa allow herself to trust the feelings Beck has for her, and will they...with the help of some others be able to figure out what is going on, and finally what about Beck being king? Y'all are just gonna have to read this awesome book that had me on the edge of my seat to find out what happens with ALLLL of that!!

This is the second book in the Deep 8 series and it sort of picks up where Wild ended.

We get the story of Beck and Pippa.

Beck is the second owner of MBK Global Security. He found out his biological parents had died and was to become King of a tribe in Zambia immediately. He travels over there where he meets his brother Wafiq and sister Sabeen. He discovers his parents owned a mine, diamonds and emeralds, the lead taken over by Wafiq after their death. His sister Sabeen also works in the labs of the mine.

Pippa, who is Jess' foster sister and hacker extraordinaire, is sent after him to help and to try and find out if there is a link to the sinister group that calls themselves Deep 8. At first Beck doesn't want Pippa to help him, not even to be there, but when someone tries to kill Beck twice and she steps in to save his life, he starts to see her differently. Pippa has been attracted to Beck since she first met him and bit by bit he starts to feel the same. Once they do give in to the attraction, they burn up the sheets.

They discover strange things are going on at the mine and that his parents death wasn't an accident. From then on, we get a lot of action, twists and turns.

I loved this book even better than the first one and am looking forward to Declan's book.

I received this ARC from the author via Booksprout in exchange of an honest review.

King, from fairly new and new-to-me author Kenzie Macallan, is the EXCEPTIONALLY well-written and COMPELLING story of an ex MI-6 agent who discovers he is the first-born son of royalty and is to be King to a diamond empire (Beck McKenzie) and an intelligent, feisty, red-headed woman who turned hacking into a career as an agent (Pippa Stevens) who must together uncover the secrets buried in Beck's hometown in Zambia! Things are DEFINITELY not what they seem and between the attempts on Beck's life and the intrigue surrounding his brother Wafiq, the intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much from start to finish!

I was TOTALLY and COMPLETELY engrossed in this suspenseful, unique who-done-it with a healthy dose of panty-melting chemistry between Beck and Pippa! I couldn't flip the pages fast enough to get to the conclusion...and when I got there, I was so sad that it was over! I didn't want this book to end and for me, that makes this a definite 5 STAR read, one that I can't recommend highly enough! Kenzie Macallan is a shining star in the Indie community, DEFINITELY an author who needs to be heard!!! Now, excuse me while I dive into Wild (the first book in the Deep 8 series) I need MORE!!!!

This is my first introduction to the Deep 8 Series and I did enjoy it. But I also struggled as this story very much felt like a continuation of another rather than a stand alone and there was plenty early on that didn't really mean a lot to me, especially when it came to Deep 8. Although to be fair a little about Deep 8 was explained in the latter stages.

Yet saying that I really liked the setting, the characters, the pockets of action and the whole idea was interesting too. As for the romance it didn't really blow me away, but I thought it worked within the story and I liked these two characters together.

But honestly, I think I could've really loved this story had I read the first book which I'm definitely interested in doing and I'd certainly reread this one again afterwards. I just wish in hindsight; I'd done that first.

Amount of sex 2.5 / 5
How explicit are the sex scenes 2.5 / 5
Story 4.5 / 5
Overall: 4.5 / 5

King is the second book in the Deep 8 series written by author Kenzie Macallan and can be read as a suspenseful stand-alone romance. Each book in this series tells the story of a different couple, and even though this was the first book that I’ve read, I had no problems following along.

King tells the story of Beck McKenzie, part-owner of the MBK security agency and an ex MI-6 agent, and Pippa Stevens, an ex-computer hacker, turned agent who’s trying to show her worth in the company. I’m dying to fill you in on all of the details, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. However, I can tell you that the storyline was gripping, and I quickly became completely engrossed. I seriously couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!

King was an exciting page-turner, full of action, thrills, and suspense. It’s a definite add to your TBR list!

I received an ARC from the author. This is the second book in the Deep 8 series. Beck finds out that he is actually the first born son of a King. He was adopted and raised in the UK. Now it’s up to him to claim the tribe as King and figure out what his brother has been up to. He suspects something shady is going on and with Pippa’s help they will figure it out. Although he doesn’t want her help at first but after he gets poisoned and she takes care of him, he changes his mind. They have to find out what’s up with the lab grown diamonds and who is behind it? The team comes in to help figure this mess out and unfortunately his brother is knee deep with the Deep 8 organization. This is a good story. Lots of mystery and a good love story as well. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Beck's is a former military agent and now is a partner to a new business called MBK Global Security. When he gets news that he is supposed to be King to this tribe his world goes off its axis. He leaves to go see what exactly he was getting into, and nothing is like he thought it would be. Pippa is an ex hacker there to help Becks if he needs her. Even though he told her that she was to leave Pippa had made up her own mind to stay. Soon it becomes clear that someone wants him dead so he doesn't know who he can trust. Will they discover who is after him? Will they leave once the threat is over?

This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

King is a thrilling story with danger around every corner. Kings mission takes him to a family he didn’t remember. Pippa is sent to help him and he wants to push her away at first. She soon proves herself as an agent and friend. Together along with his team they are able to get a lot of their questions answered and complete the mission successfully. Their book is exciting and full of heat. You will definitely be left wanting more from the team and to find out if they will be able to get all their answers about deep 8 or not.

Yet another riveting story in this thrilling series. This book was completely different to the first book, but in a good way.
Be prepared to get lost amongst culture as things come to light. The male main character really stepped up in this book, so will be interesting to see how he settles back to "normal" life in future books.
You'll find yourself being run through a gamut of emotions and wishing you had a Pip by your side.
I was transfixed from cover to cover and already can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

Beck and Pippa are amazing characters that I already loved from the first book. Getting to know them more, and seeing them together, makes me love them more! The similarities in their background make them understand how the other feels even though there are quite a few differences too. And Pippa was strong, supporting Beck when he was weak and showing him that he could count on her when he didn't originally believe that. Their story is full of danger and hot nights together. Can't wait to see what's next!

This is an intriguing story with strong characters in Beck and Pippa. The author does a great job building the story and pulled me in with all of the twists and suspense along the way. Add in the sizzling hot chemistry and her perfectly painted scenes and you have a fantastic story. Loved and recommend this book.

This is a romantic, high action, suspense story that is the second instalment of the Deep 8 series. The "burb" is accurate as it tells the story of Beck (King) and Pippa (Red) which takes place in Zambia. Beck a black skinned, intelligent , fit ex MI-6 gent and now Part owner in MBK Global Security discovers he is the first born son of royalty and as such he is about to be made King of the Sai Tribe in Mubala, Zambia. With this comes a Diamond and Emerald empire and two siblings. Things are not all they see though and someone wants him dead just like his real parents!

Whilst I felt the plot was over dramatised and at times and unbelievable (which one of the two reasons I never gave it 5 stars), but it is fiction and entertaining (bit "James Bondy") with lots of twists and turns. It was however very multi facet and there was always something happening because of the sub-plots and because it is told alternating between the two main characters, which really works even though it shouldn't if that makes sense, certainly doesn't distract the reader and aids with pace. I all felt that the setting of the scene and details carried the story.

Macallan covered a lot of ground and commendably tackled sensitive subjects like; mixed race relationships, cultural face scaring, modern slavery, unethical mining practices and identifying with your roots. We see such a cultural contrast of culture and practices and learn a little about the gem mining industry and bad sides to it. Her characters really did come to life, was very "4D" and very well developed, you even felt empathy at times for the villain of the story. I loved how Pippa came to life in this story and we see her grow from an individual lone wolf to a valuable member of the team as she is sent in to help and support Beck.

In Pippa we see this fun, crazy, passionate, strong, loyal, feisty, sassy, intelligent, red headed siren bloom in front of us. In Beck we see a quieter, deep, intelligent, fit, man struggling with his emotions and feeling of his family situation and also past relationship with a female operative and ex girlfriend making him cautious and he doesn't know who to trust because of all the myraid of emotions and turmoil he is facing and thrown into the mix is having to get to know Pippa and work through it all and his feeling towards her and there future if there is one! Both of them grow and I feel that Macallan really pulls them apart and puts them back together again giving the reader a microscopic insight into there true characters. I liked that they were put together as they came from two very different socio backgrounds, they was well suited to each other, if they gave each other a chance, let down there pre existing walls, showed there vulnerability and need for each other as they complimented each other beautifully,

On the whole the pace was fast, packed and suspenseful and the sub-plots helped keep the pace and interest going until they came to fruition at the end and she brought them all in nicely and tied them up whilst still keeping the suspense until the last moment and also then lead us to the point that the next story in the big "mystery of Deep 8", starts.

I personally feel that Kenzie Macallan is a hidden gems. She writes exceptionally well and if anything is over ambitious but the way she tells it works and doesn't see overly ambitious, it covers a lot of ground and yet retains detail. It is fun at times deep and emotional and yet suspenseful reading it. I feel this book is better written than the first but you need to read the first book first to really appreciate the bigger story going on here.

If you like action, adventure, a hot alpha male, a focused female lead and different cultures with a fast face then this is for you - you will enjoy it!

This is an entertaining, riveting, fun, serious, captivating, and steamy story.

I opted to read this book simply because I saw it was set in Zambia, some where I have lived.

The storyline was not what I expected, but captivating. Beck owns a security firm and works as an MI6 agent when required. He prefers to work alone and, if he is assigned a partner, it must be a male.

A gentleman named Katoo approaches Beck and tells him that his birth parents have died and that he is now the King of a Zambian tribe. Beck was totally dumbfounded and eventually agrees to return to Zambia with Katoo.

Prior to going, his security company colleagues and his sometimes MI6 boss put plans into place to assist and, if necessary, protect Beck. One of those measures is Pippa. She’s a fellow agent, a renown hacker, a stunning redhead, and a woman. You can well imagine that Beck was not at all happy about her being there, and totally underestimates her capabilities as a field agent.

When Beck arrives he learns that he has a brother and a sister; the tribal lands have a prosperous diamond mine and that things are not as they seem. Luckily he has Pippa watching his back, Katoo also plays a big role.

Beck is an interesting man, dedicated to his team and his parents. Pippa is great, bubbly, quick on her feet. We get glimpses of how both of them see each other, how their relationship develops.

When Beck gets informed that he has to go the Mabula, Zambia to become king of the Sai tribe. His plan is to leave the ruling to his brother Wafiq and return back to america. He discovers that the family business is Sai international Gems. He is contacted by Neil to look into the emerald and diamond trade as there might be links to Deep8, a company that works in the dark. He is sent an operative to partner with him during the investigation. Pippa is sassy and full of life, not what he was expecting. There is chemistry between them that they both try to deny. They get caught up in the investigation and when Beck brings in his team they are open with their feelings. This was a great story and I will read more from this author.

Beck works with a security company now that he is done with MI-6. Pippa is the tech guru hacker and a fiery redhead. When Beck is notified of his real parents deaths, he goes to Zambia to find out what is happening, meets a vile brother and an interesting sister. Pippa is sent to help him and as they find the family secrets, they also find each other.
The characters are complex, with great backstories and intense feelings. The storyline has multiple mysteries and plenty of drama, surprises, twists, misconceptions, misplaced clues, family secrets and of course steam. Loved the great banter and chemistry Beck and Pippa have. The ending is terrific, but the other mystery will be ongoing. Can not wait to read more of this group.

This is the first book I have read by this author and overall, I thought it was good. Definitely a 3.5 star read. My biggest issue is that Beck is kind of clueless. I mean, I love a strong female character and Pippa fits the bill- smart and a bit amusing, who showcases the issues with a man who thinks he knows all. But I also like a story featuring a man who recognizes that a team is so much more than a man who thinks he knows everything. Eventually, they work as a team but in my opinion, it takes too long. Otherwise, I liked that this is a generally well rounded story that feature romance and a bit of action. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for an early copy of this read.

In this second installment of Deep 8 you get transported to Africa with Beck and Pippa. They deal with betrayal, secrets, danger and so much more.

Beck finds out that at thirty six years old he is the heir to the royal throne of the Sai Tribe. He needs to get to Mubala, Zambia which is his birthplace within three weeks or the crown will be up for grabs.

Pippa is sent to help Beck maneuver his King duties and help him investigate what is going on with the Chinese being in Zambia.

Absolutely loved the sizzling hot chemistry between Pippa and Beck. I also loved how she explained why she calls him chocolate thunder. Their banter was refreshing and enjoyable.

This is a new author to me, and I loved it. Beck McKenzie and Pippa Stevens have always worked better alone. When they join forces, they discover what they have been missing. Beck discovers his background leads him to Mubala, Africa, and he is to be the next King. Pippa is sent to help him navigate through his conflicting emotions. The story is filled with action, drama, secrets, and romance. The characters are well-developed and realistic. I received a copy, and I am voluntarily giving my honest review.

Beck works for MI6 and Pippa is a hacker just starting. They team up to deal with an investigation.
This had so much drama and suspense all the way through. The story line just grabbed on and never let go till the very end. Definitely a book I got into.
The passion and longing between Beck and Pippa was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a breath of fresh air because it was so original and had characters I really liked.

Fast Paced, Steamy. Loved It!

This is the second book in the Deep 8 series and while it could be read as a standalone I think it's better to read this in order since the team from MBK Global Security are dealing with the threat of the Deep 8 group. Pippa and Beck's story is a crazy, steamy, fast paced, page turning, wild ride. We got a good intro to Pippa in the first book. She's strong, opinionated, free spirited and full of life, the perfect match to Beck's more reserved and controlled nature. I think they really balance each other out. Can't wait for book three.

I loved this book! It’s a little different from most military romantic suspense. Beck finds out his birth parents were African royalty. He’s way in over his head and needs Pippa’s help in more ways than one. Beck is such a strong willed alpha, but he’s very vulnerable in Africa. Pippa is a strong willed and very smart woman. I loved these characters. I was riveted to this book and look forward to Declan’s book.
