Indigo och River. Ni hade mig fast i början,
men sen tappade ni bort mig lite längs vägen.
Det börjar fenomenalt! Jag blir direkt nyfiken på vad det är som har hänt, varför minns han henne inte? Vad kommer han säga när hon släpper bomben? Jag sitter som på nålar och kan inte för mitt liv lista ut vad som kommer hända.
Men sen planar det liksom ut och blir lite för utdraget. För hur mycket drama och hobby-psykologiska diskussioner kan egentligen uppstå mellan två personer som så uppenbart älskar varandra? När de för trettioelfte gången ska ’göra slut’ för någon småsak de inbillat sig eller för att den ene inte varit helt ärlig (av totalt oklar anledning) börjar jag sucka så smått och skumma mellan raderna. Det är gulligt, de är fina, men det saknas riktiga problem och något ordentligt mörker för att hålla intresset uppe.
Boken passar den mer inbitne feel-good-läsaren, den som gillar kärlek vid första ögonkastet-tropes, tanken på ”den sanna kärleken”, själsfränder och att finna den rätte. Jag ÄR inte riktigt den läsaren och därför går vi inte helt ihop, jag och Huset i det blommande trädet.
Jag har dock inga som helst tvivel kring att nästa bok kommer haffa mig direkt. Det här kommer Wishing Wood vända upp och om för mig, vänta ni bara 🫶🏻😏

This first installment in the Wishing Wood series delivers exactly what I hoped for while surprising me in unexpected ways. The premise initially reminded me of those childhood fairy tales where mysterious woods hold secrets and promises - except here, the trees house actual vacation rentals and the secrets are decidedly more adult.
These aren't just pretty treehouses scattered through the Welsh countryside; they feel like characters themselves, each with its own personality and story. The author clearly understands how setting can enhance emotional resonance rather than simply providing backdrop. When Indigo discovers a treehouse that matches something she once described to River, the moment carries real weight because we've been made to care about this place.
The central relationship between Indigo and River works because Martin doesn't rush their reconnection. That forgotten one-night stand creates genuine tension - not the contrived misunderstanding that often plagues romance novels, but something that feels believably painful. Indigo's decision to keep working at Wishing Wood while nursing her hurt creates this lovely slow burn where attraction and wounded pride dance around each other.
The supporting characters are handled really well particularly River's daughter and his brothers Heath and Bear. Too often in romance, family members exist solely to create obstacles or provide comic relief. Here, they feel like real people with their own motivations and histories. The family dynamics hint at deeper stories without overwhelming this particular narrative - promising groundwork for future books without shortchanging the current one
The writing itself flows naturally, never feeling forced or overly polished in that artificial way that can plague the genre. Martin understands pacing, allowing quiet moments of connection to build alongside the more dramatic revelations. There's real craft here in how she builds emotional investment.
Some plot elements resolve perhaps too neatly, though honestly, in a book that promises escapism and happy endings, this feels more like delivering on expectations than taking shortcuts. Sometimes we read precisely because we want to believe that complicated situations can work out, that good people can find each other again.
This is comfort reading that doesn't insult your intelligence - a romance that trusts its readers to appreciate both emotional complexity and the promise of joy. Looking forward to seeing what secrets Heath and Bear are hiding.

Holly Martin is without a doubt a queen of the romantic gesture, the gorgeous setting, the exquisitely named locations and characters, and books that you just don't want to put down as you are so absorbed with the characters lives and wanting the best for them.
And with this latest book she delivers all that and more in this simply wonderful story.
I loved the idea of the treehouse resort, and just what it means to River, Heath and Bear (the latter two I feel we will get to know even better in the rest of the series),
I don't really know where to start in waxing lyrical about every last thing about this book, it really is Holly Martin at her fines (I feel like I say that fairly regularly but it's true, her books just keep getting better and better).
And River, I'm gutted that I've had to finish the book and leave behind my most recent book boyfriend. He just doesn't know how special he is, nor what a fabulous resort has set up.
Indigo, wow she has had a tough time of it in the events leading up to where the book joins her life, but she knows what she wants and is aiming to do her best. She is in a tricky position when she gets to the resort as it seems like she may not have been as memorable to River, as he was to her!
And Tierra, omg I absolutely adored her. The various conversations she was involved in, her ideas about everything are just so hilarious and adorable, including a very funny conversation about breasts! Then again Amelia arguably is also prone to not necessarily appropriate conversation, and they are both at complete opposite ends of the age range!
On the flip side is Indigo's "friend" Vicky, who just seems incredibly bitter and any time she popped up I wanted to tell Indigo to disown her!
This is simply superb storytelling and I already can't wait for the next book in the series, This was everything I wanted the book to be and more.

Oh my heart! As a child my favourite book was Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree and I often dreamt of living in a treehouse and entering all the different lands at the top. This was my adult reading equivalent, Moonface may be missing but instead Holly gave me River and this hopeless romantic was a very happy bunny indeed.
I have so much love for Holly’s books that whenever I read one it quickly becomes my new favourite. It is always down to the characters, the will they won’t they (deep down I always know the answer). This time it is Indigo and River’s story and as always misunderstandings, people interfering and insecurities that could prevent their love story from blossoming like the very trees they live in.
The setting is divine and I would book a weekend there in a heartbeat. There is odd touches of humour, mostly down to the very sassy Tierra who is River’s young daughter and also Amelia the glamorous gran with no filter and a Lamborghini.
As much as I loved all of these there was also a character to despise and Vicky had my hackles raised whenever her vicious tongue let loose. But she deserves a book of her own and maybe her own version of River too (hint hint).
As you can probably tell I adored this book and so I was really pleased to discover another book is coming about River’s brother Bear and Meadow. So I look forward to returning for another visit to the treehouses.

I read Holly Martin’s fluffy romances for a quick and easy mental break. While I liked it, and her other books, this one was super repetitive. It should have been called The Connection, because the connection word was used so much, sometimes several times on the same page. Holly, try a thesaurus! Also, the dialogue was silly and some scenes unbelievable. Individuals and couples do not reveal that much about their sex lives to others. You might make a cheeky and vague comment, but not to the degree Indigo and River did with his family members. This one was possibly my least fav of Holly Martin’s books so far. I tend to give them two stars, because they’re cheesy romances. Two stars doesn’t equal bad, but I can’t rate them the same as Diana Gabaldon and George R.R. Martin’s books.

Wat een heerlijk boek vond ik dit. Martin heeft een fijne beeldende schrijfstijl waardoor je direct wordt meegezogen in dit sprookjesachtige verhaal. Met de nodige humor geschreven, waardoor ik soms hardop moest lachen. Zoals een feelgood hoort! Op naar deel 2

Det är en mysig berättelse med en helt underbar miljö. Hade jag inte varit så förbannat höjdrädd hade det varit en dröm att bo i en av trädkojehusen.
Det är en fin berättelse som försöker vara så inkluderande och icke-dömande som möjligt. Det blir dock lite löjligt vissa gånger när det ska talas om att alla olika former på kvinnor är helt normala o.s.v. Det blir nästan lite för mycket förklaringar till varför man inte ska bedöma andras utseende o.s.v.
Missförstånden mellan River och Indigo ör den största orsaken till att betyget inte blir en 4:a. Det känns som samma missförstånd tas om flera gånger och det blir lite tjatigt tycker jag.
Jag kan ändå varmt rekommendera boken. Man får drömma sig bort till en alldeles underbar miljö och en del riktigt sköna karaktärer, särskilt Tierra.

För två månader sedan spenderade Indigo Bloom en fantastisk natt med en man. Nu är hon gravid. Hon står utan jobb och utan bostad och vet inte vad hon ska göra. River (mannen som är pappan) lovade henne ett jobb på sin "camping" Wishing Wood den natten och hon beger sig dit för att berätta nyheten för honom. Men när hon kommer dit visar det sig att han inte kommer ihåg henne.
Jag älskar verkligen miljön, stugorna och de olika trädkojorna låter så charmiga så att jag skulle vilja bosätta mig där själv. Människorna verkar nästan lite för bra för att vara sanna emellanåt, de accepterar allt och alla utan några problem. Det jag stör mig lite på och som drar ner helhetsbetyget är de upprepade missförstånden mellan Indigo och River. Men oavsett det så är det en riktigt härlig bok som jag blir otroligt glad av att läsa.
Jag älskar verkligen miljön, stugorna och de olika trädkojorna låter så charmiga så att jag skulle vilja bosätta mig där själv. Människorna verkar nästan lite för bra för att vara sanna emellanåt, de accepterar allt och alla utan några problem. Na het luisteren en lezen van De zussen van Jewel Island, was ik ook enorm blij toen ik zag dat nu ook deze serie als luisterboek te verkrijgen is. Hoogste tijd om ook deze serie te gaan ontdekken. Ik heb hoge en goede verwachtingen. Het boek heeft een uitnodigende cover. Het heeft een illustratie van een idyllische boomhut in een bloesemboom. Op de achtergrond zijn er nog twee bomen te zien met boomhutten er in. Ik denk dat ik weer een heerlijk feelgood verhaal gaat zijn.
Indigo komt erachter nadat ze twee maanden geleden een wilde nacht heeft gehad met een woest aantrekkelijke man dat ze zwanger is. Ze vindt dat hij het recht heeft te weten dat ze zwanger is, dus besluit ze met dat nieuws bij hem aan te kloppen. Er is alleen één probleem: wanneer ze bij hem aanklopt, lijkt hij haar niet te herkennen. Ze is zwaar teleurgesteld dat deze nacht blijkbaar zo weinig voor hem heeft betekent, dus daarom besluit ze haar zwangerschap verborgen te houden. Hij geeft haar wel een baan. Ze hoopt naarmate ze elkaar beter leren kennen en hun band sterker is als er het juiste moment zal aanbreken hem de waarheid te vertellen...
Holly Martin heeft een heerlijke op en top feelgood schrijfstijl. Ze schrijft levendig, vlot en lekker luchtig. Hierdoor zijn haar boeken echt een groot feest om te lezen en luisteren. Het verhaal is ingesproken door Sandra Jonkman. Ze heeft een hele fijne en prettige stem en spreektempo. Hierdoor is het echt een feest om naar het boek te luisteren.
Het verhaal is geschreven vanuit Indigo. Het personage is op mooie wijze neergezet. Het is mooi hoe Holly Martin het personage een heftige maar intrigerende achtergrond geeft, maar wel op zo'n wijze dat het geen zwaar verhaal wordt. Hetzelfde geldt voor River. Als wel de andere personages. Hierdoor krijgt het verhaal ook wel iets realistisch.
Het verhaal is een op en top feelgood. Het verhaal kent veel drama met heerlijke ups en downs en heerlijke humor, waarmee Holly Martin het verhaal lekker luchtig houdt. Ondanks dat er best wel wat heftige thema's en onderwerpen aan bod komen is het een erg leuk en vermakelijk verhaal. Een enkele keer is mijn ogen het drama net iets over de top en soms is het verhaal net iets te sprookjesachtig,toch heb ik enorm genoten. Met een mooi en heerlijk einde sluit het eerste deel af. Ik ben benieuwd naar de rest van de serie.

Indigo beleeft een geweldige nacht met de knappe River. Als ze erachter komt dat ze zwanger is, besluit ze hem op te zoeken om het nieuws te delen. Maar dan blijkt hij haar niet te herkennen, omdat ze geen werk heeft en een baan krijgt aangeboden bij River, besluit ze hem eerst wat beter te leren kennen. Maar hoe vind je nu een geschikt moment om dit nieuws te delen?
Holly heeft een heerlijke vlotte schrijfstijl waarin je je volledig onderdompelt in dorpse sferen. Dit boek is iets anders geschreven dan haar vorige boeken. De omgeving waar het verhaal zich afspeelt is interessant en inspirerend. Je waant je in een paradijs voor jong en oud vol met boomhuizen. Het concept waarbij je kunt overnachten in boomhuizen is heel erg leuk bedacht en door de levendige omschrijving ging ik helemaal op in het verhaal.
De personages in het boek zijn levendig geschreven en goed ontwikkeld. Indigo is een sterke vrouw en is vastbesloten om iets van haar leven te maken. Ze maakt in het boek een enorme ontwikkeling door en staat achter elke keuze die ze maakt ook al is niet iedereen het hiermee eens. River is daarentegen wat meer gesloten waardoor hij wat voorzichtig kan overkomen.
Hoewel het boek soms voorspelbare elementen bevat, is het een compleet nieuw verhaal en doet het niks af aan de charme van het verhaal. Het is een feelgood boek waarvan je absoluut gaat glimlachen. Het is een aanrader voor liefhebbers van een romantisch verhaal! En ik kijk nu al uit naar het volgende deel!

Sometimes you get exactly what you wish for, this was cute, fluffy, whimsical and required zero brain power, and was all a bit flimsy. Exactly what I wished for.

Wat een meeeeeeegafijne sfeer!!! 4.5/5 want love hoe "easy" het loopt, maakt echt feelgood, maar ook beetje "drama zoeken" daardoor. Op naar deel 2!!

Three brothers have created a gorgeous place at Wishing Wood. Treehouses that serve as bed and breakfasts, and even a few homes. The amazing beauty of the treehouses started with dreams of the three Brookfield brothers, River, Heath and Bear. As the story begins, Indigo Bloom has some news to share, news that she has reservations about but it really makes her quite happy. She had an amazing night a couple of months ago and has discovered that night resulted in her pregnancy. She wants to let the father know. She remembers every moment of that night but cannot believe that River doesn't even remember her.
Indigo takes a job there, and struggles to find a way to tell River her news. Meanwhile, she finds herself drawn into his extended family and the beauty that she finds in the idyllic setting. She works to find the courage to tell River, and faces some confusion as their connection now proves incredibly powerful - yet he doesn't remember her.
What a sentimental story. When Indigo arrives she is jobless and homeless. River's kindness compassion shows from the start, and she soon has much more than she needs. As lovely as Indigo and River were in this wonderful story, his young daughter was a delight, as well as all of the other characters in this lovely story.
The Blossom Tree of Dreams is the ninth book that I have read by Holly Martin over the past few years. Each and every book has been thoroughly enjoyable. I am more than eager to spend more time with the next two books in this trilogy.

Ik had nog nooit een roman van Holly Martin gelezen en dat terwijl ze er altijd zo fijn uitzien! Toen ik het persbericht van dit eerste deel van de Wishing Wood-serie ontving van Zomer & Keuning voelde dit als een teken om Holly Martin eens een kans te geven en ze stelde absoluut niet teleur!
Al vanaf de eerste pagina werd ik het boek in gezogen. Wat heeft Martin een heerlijke schrijfstijl! De eerste helft van het boek was het écht smullen: wanneer gaat Indigo nu eindelijk vertellen dat ze zwanger is? Nou, dat kwam eigenlijk al iets eerder dan ik had verwacht. Het boek is daarmee niet zo voorspelbaar, maar het zorgde er wel voor dat het spanningselement daarna helaas weg was. Desalniettemin bleef het fijn om te lezen en weet je als lezer niet waar het verhaal heen gaat. Je blijft dus verrast worden.
Ik heb met De bloesemboom vol dromen zeker een nieuwe schrijfster ontdekt. Eentje die ook weer smaakt naar meer. Gelukkig heb ik er ook nog een paar in de kast staan van Holly Martin, dus daar ga ik zeker snel in beginnen.
Ik heb ontzettend veel zin in het volgende deel van deze serie: De blauwe regen vol liefde. Deze verschijnt 16 augustus 2023. Aftellen dus!

Loooooooooved it
If you read this book, you'll definitely want to live in a tree house!😍. You'll find yourself looking for your own River to make it all happen: roof terrace, slides (to get down), walking-bridges between the houses, sea sights and all the fairy lights✨️
I absolutely loved this book! It was cute, funny and the places were described beautifully and I could really imagine it as a real place. Would make a lovely concept for a movie too!
The story did feel a little bit to good to be true but as a hopeless romantic I couldn't care less and just enjoyed all of it 😂
Totally recommend if you're up to a fluffy, cute and quick read.

De eerste helft van het boek was leuk, een typisch voorspelbare chicklit waar je af en toe hard op om zit te lachen. Maar daarna begon dit boek me echt te irriteren. 90% van dit boek bestond uit dialogen van River of Indigo dat ze naar anderen uitspreken hoe leuk ze elkaar vinden, waarna er telkens weer een willekeurig opstakel voor hun liefde kwam, waarna ze weer uitspraken dat ze elkaar leuk vonden, etc. Waarom praten ze zoveel??? En dan werkt het telkens alsnog niet??? Het leek alsof de schrijfster zocht naar redenen om het boek langer te laten duren. Ze hadden zelfs hele dialogen TERWIJL ze seks hadden????? Ik was blij toen ik t boek uit had.

This story was lovely! As it says on the cover: A heartwarming feel-good romance to fall in love with and it was exactly that. 4,5 stars rounding up!
This book was just what I needed at this moment. Loved the heartwarming feeling, loved the characters, love that they had some good -although sometimes delayed- communication. (You know when sometimes you have to yell at the characters: “Just say how you feel!!” Which wasn’t the case here.)
It wasn’t totally perfect but it did feel really perfect in the heart. Would recommend!

Ben je nog op zoek naar een luchtig en romantisch boek voor deze zomer? Zoek dan niet verder. 'De bloesemboom vol dromen' is namelijk precies wat je nodig hebt in je leven.
Dit boek draait om Indigo, die er twee maanden na een wel heel aantrekkelijke onenightstand achterkomt dat ze zwanger van hem is. Ze wil het kind koste wat kost houden, dus vindt ze ook dat hij ervan moet weten. Er is alleen één probleem: als ze hem opzoekt, lijkt hij haar totaal niet te herkennen. Heeft die nacht dan alleen indruk op haar gemaakt? En wat nu? Moet ze direct eerlijk zijn of hem toch nog even in de waan laten dat ze naar Wishing Woods kwam voor een baan? Eén ding is zeker: het leven van beide zal flink op zijn kop komen te staan.
Met 'De bloesemboom vol dromen' bewijst Holly Martin wat mij betreft wat voor topauteur ze is. Ze weet haar lezers echt compleet mee te nemen naar een (door haar gecreëerde) magische plek waar personages wonen die al snel gaan voelen als vrienden - of beter gezegd: familie. Ik moest bijvoorbeeld alleen al hardop lachen door de jeudige opmerkingen van Tierra en gun iedereen een oma als Amelia. En laat ik daarom eerlijk zijn: stiekem wilde ik zelf een ticket boeken om naar deze fantastische plek af te reizen. Het klonk zo magisch, zo mooi en dus direct zo levendig.
En dan heb ik het dus over slechts de karakters en de omgeving gehad. Het verhaal stelt daarentegen ook zeker niet teleur. Het draait om (zelf)vertrouwen, opnieuw (willen) beginnen, romantiek en vriendschap. Af en toe is het wat voorspelbaar en een wel erg groot spelletje van afstoten en aantrekken, maar genoten heb ik zeker. Met een hoofdletter G om precies te zijn!

I'll admit it - I added this book to my to-read shelf because of the cover. Finding it in the Audible+ catalog clinched the deal :)
This is an outright romance novel - no mystery or puzzles to solve, no historical aspects to consider, just flat-out romance. The primary reason I bumped it up to four stars is that the story was not as predictable as I have found most romance books to be. The reactions shown by various characters in some of the situations presented in the story were not what I anticipated. Although that was good, the overall story was almost sickeningly sweet, something I'm not used to in my reading.
There are two more books in this series, and I can almost predict what will happen in both of them without even reading the books, but I will keep them in mind when I need a break from the not-so-sweet mysteries and thrillers I usually read.

Het was absoluut geen goed verhaal. Er was veel herhaling en het was voorspelbaar. Veel dingen waren iets te toevallig en onlogisch. Waarom zou je je hele privéverhaal er ineens tegen een wildvreemde uitgooien. En dat degene die ne je nu wilt aannemen jou eerder is tegengekomen en je memorabel vond. Toch wilde ik graag verder lezen. Het boek was vermakelijk en las vlot weg. Misschien was dit net even het boek dat ik nodig had.

Fluffy but surprisingly good
I don't usually enjoy books like this but I couldn't put this down and read it in 2 days. It was quite unbelievable and there were some inconsistencies and the way she told her life story to random people she had just met and how River just accepted everything, some of it was very stingy but it good and I will read the next ones in the series.

Det här är en fantastisk bok från början till slut. Den är precis så som jag vill att romantiska böcker ska vara; känslosamma och relativt lättsamma med älskvärda karaktärer. Jag sitter med ett leende under stor del av läsningen och skrattar till här och var. Berättelsen pendlar fram och tillbaka medan jag hejar på dem. Jag anar hela tiden var det kommer att landa, men som med bra berättade romantiska berättelser gör det ingenting. Jag riktigt njuter av resan dit och läser ut den i ett svep.
This is a great book from the beginning to the end. It is exactly how I want romance books to be. I sit with a smile during much of the reading and laugh here and there. The story goes back and forth as I cheer them on. I can guess where it's going, but as with any well-told romantic story, it doesn't matter. I really enjoy the journey towards the end.

Jag älskar verkligen Hollys böcker! De är som att läsa en Hallmarkfilm.
Förutsägbara men alldeles, alldeles underbara.

Leuk verhaal. Maar sommige stukken zijn wel echt te afgezaagd. Een one night stand wat weer uitmondt in de liefde van je leven. En natuurlijke een mega gecompliceerde *not* background story beide hebben. Sommige scènes waren erg leuk geschreven, de rest wat te eentonig.
