A collection of short stories themed around horror and the winter holidays.
For those who like a little scary in their merry, Twisted Tales of Holiday Horror is an anthology of short stories released by masters of horror, The Sisterhood of the Black Pen. Featuring 10 original works, this festive fright fest is filled with delightful twists on holiday favorites that are sure to make your hot chocolate turn cold. Where does the Christmas train really go? Is Santa filled with good intentions? What could go wrong when a Christmas wish comes true? Avoid the mistletoe and beware of carolers. This isn't a book of bedtime stories...Follow us on a twisted adventure if you dare. We’ll make sure you never look at the holidays the same way again.
Twisted Tales of Holiday Horror. What a welcomed addition to my holiday traditions. I can definitely recommend this one for anyone else who loves to keep their Winter festivities on the odd side. Grab some spiked eggnog and cozy up by the fire with a variety of short stories. Each tale has its own personality. Every scare is different. If you’re like me and need to be dragged, kicking and screaming, out of Halloween and then need time to get into Christmas cheer this book might be just what you need to merge the two best times of the year. Being an anthology, not all the stories are going to connect with every reader. Others most certainly will. Personally, I have to say that As Easy as Pie, A Christmas Gift for Adelaide, and The Bells of Blood were the ones I was most drawn in by. I felt the rise of suspense with these in particular, but there is fantastic creativity to be displayed in every entry. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from the Sisterhood of the Black Pen.
First, I would like to say that I received this book as a gift, and I'm so happy I did! As a horror fan, especially a paranormal horror lover, I don't wait for Halloween to get my spookies. I read creepy books all year round, and I had never read a Christmas horror book before. Not only did it satisfy my craving for creepy, supernatural stories, but it also totally put me in the mood for the holidays!
I absolutely loved the wide variety of stories in this anthology. It was written by several writers, making us travel through time and totally different writing styles. There wasn't a story I didn't enjoy. They were all different and brought something unique and personal to this book. Pay close attention to the cover before you start reading. You'll see elements from each story, which I think is really neat.
If you're like me and love paranormal horror, legends, twisted retellings of classic tales, and Christmas, then this anthology is for you.
If you think you know Holiday Horror stories…think again! The Sisterhood of the Black Pen delivers 10 unique, dark, violent, & whimsical stories that are unlike anything I’d read before. While I enjoyed the first 5 or so over the last 5, I cannot deny I was entertained the entire time reading this collection. Favorite stories included Bells of Blood (polar express hijacked by vampires), Rebecca’s Confidante (your holiday protector becomes a master of slaughter), A Wonderful Life (be careful about hidden inns off snowy roads), & A Christmas Gift for Adelaide (maybe your family has some real dark secrets in the basement) but there’s not a bad one in the bunch. If you’re looking for a welcome departure from Psycho Santa’s, 3 visiting spirits, & rabid reindeer, you should definitely check out this book for your holiday season.
For anyone who likes a little scary in their merry (🙋🏻♀️), this is the perfect anthology of holiday themed horror stories.
This was a great anthology. All of the stories were holiday themed, and not just Christmas stories, and filled with horror. There are 10 tales in total and each tale had its own personality. Each of these stories might have been short, but they really packed a punch. I liked some more than others, but I didn’t dislike a single one. My favorites were A Gift for Adelaide, As Easy as Pie, and The Bells of Blood. This is a perfect little book packed with the holiday spirit and whole bunch of horror.
Another great holiday horror anthology from the Sisterhood of the Black Pen. A nice assortment here! Anyone looking for a quick, breezy, but fun little collection of spooky seasonal tales would do very well to pick this up.
This was a lot of fun! my favourite story was "the bells of blood" as I love anything to do with vampires! I'd highly recommend this anthology if you celebrate creepmas! 🎄💀
This collection starts out pretty bad. Stories that have no depth or hook, but then it opens up into something not so bad. I don’t regret spending the time on it.
Fun little collection of creepy Christmas-themed short stories. The first one was the best, but all of them were at least average or better. It's a quick read so take your time
Overall the stories were just ok. Very few stood out as entertaining and fun for me. The rest seemed more like a chore to read. Nevertheless, it added to the holiday spirt for the beginning of December. 3/5 ⭐️‘s for this one.
As a collection of short stories by various writers, I expected some to be better than others, and I was correct. Overall, none of the stories were fully developed or stunningly written, but they were entertaining holiday horror stories nonetheless. A solid 🎄🎄🎄 out of 5 Christmas trees.
This book of short stories was amazing! I can rarely find anything horror holiday related so the minute I saw this….I immediately ordered it!
The stories may be short but each one packed a punch. I will honestly never look at Christmas the same….or Ole St Nick. I highly recommend this for my horror friends!
