Mining Maine for Riches - A Novel

When Canadian miner Clarence Potter moves to Maine in 1897 to make his fortune working the Oxford County pegmatite mines, he finds himself immersed in a welcoming community of native Mainers. One exception is widow Aphia Stevens, an herbalist who has not been able to escape her personal demons. She makes life difficult for Potter and his new wife from Massachusetts, and for the family of successful dressmaker Lizzie Millett. The story takes place with a backdrop of the Maine mining scene at the turn of the twentieth century.

I'm not actually reading this book at the moment, but added it to Goodreads as I recently received promotional material about it, and couldn't find it here. It seems to be a self-published historical novel of especial interest to mineral collectors especially those enamored of New England pegmatites. I don't know whether this link is allowed but here is more info for editors/mods to update the listing: https://maineauthorspublishing.com/pr...

This is the second Robert Spencer book I’ve read. I love the Maine History and local places in the story. I liked many of the characters, strong women that bucked the trends at the turn of the century. But I was dismayed at the abrupt ending and the stories left hanging! I guess that’s why he wrote a third book.
