LINEAR is a poetic story of recovery. It's triumphant, it's raw, it's real. LINEAR shows both the bad days and good days in the mind of someone with mental illness. It is poetically and painfully beautiful, because after all, healing isn't linear.
This is one of the books I had to read twice to fully understand the deeper meaning behind every poem. I loved each and every one of them, but my most favorites are "Cosette", "Whispers in the Stars" and "Pirouettes in the Sky".
This collection deals with mental health, depression, anxiety, etc. However, I found it pretty light-hearted and uplifting.
I loved the writing style of Bailey Gee and will definitely be reading more from this author.
Bailey Gee writes honestly, from lived experience.
My favourite poem was "Neuroplasticity". Its' sharp, almost staccato style works really well and adds to the overall feel of the piece.
I would have liked to have been able to give more stars. I struggled with the overall format of the book that I received from Amazon. The poems often started quite far down a page, and ran into the next page, breaking the flow and making them more difficult to read and leaving the overall aesthetic a little too jarring for me personally. I am not sure if this was a deliberate choice on the author's part, or if this was due to formatting issues, and I'm also not sure if this is the case with all 'Linear' books sold through different venues, or just one batch. Either way, there is no doubt that this book captures and gives good insight into Bailey's personal mental health journey.
I have most definitely appreciated being taken along on that journey, through the purchase of this book. A raw and real read. Thank you, Bailey.

This is a beautiful and profound book of poetry. Everything Bailey writes can be said of our own experiences. Her joy and sadness and happiness and dreams and love are all ours yet totally her own. I strongly connected with everything she said and felt her words pierce my heart like flaming arrows. Each poem is a piece of the full woman, and speaks so simply yet profoundly of the journey it is to be a human in a harsh but beautiful world.
Linear has me almost speechless. I'd like to say the the picnic was was missing one thing I'd like to offer.
"Friend Bear asks to join in, In hope of a beautiful friendship to begin."
I have a poetic soul and I felt it was profoundly and beautifully written. The you for giving me such a gracious gift, one I will forever treasure, for you have shared a piece of your soul.
Linear is a recovery story told in the form of a number of poems that sees the reader move along on a journey along with the author and you feel the strength of the words from this book. Poetry is not always for everyone but when it is given in this manner it reads as a very story like telling which works beautifully and feels somewhat different from what much in the poetry landscape does.
This book took, My heart straight from my boob, With a strong hook, You could use as a kitchen knife when you cook, Sharp as it is it calmly makes sense, Black and white she makes the words dance, Madness in my brain from her indifference
This is out of my usual genre. However, I loved it. Deep, honest, and at times uplifting. Bailey can really deliver with her poetry. I think the three poems in this book that got me the most were Dear Disabled Girl, Pirouettes in the Sky, and Linear. Keep writing.
