Practical & cute book on teaching kids about the effects of polluting the ocean.

This book has some of the cutest illustrations. It also shows the direct impact of pollution on sea life. The pictures of the hurt turtle caught in the nets will teach kids the importance of not polluting. But don’t worry, it shows a happy ending where the kids can learn that we can still help clean up the damage that’s already been done.

It also includes some bonus sections in the back. The end includes story discussion questions that you can ask the kids. It has a vocabulary list, so they’re able to learn words in the book that may be new to them. It also includes a list of environmental awareness days. This can be good for both teachers and parents who want to get the kids involved in recycling and cleaning up our environment.

Delightful Chatacters Inform Kids About Plastic Pollution

Author Melissa Moore carefully and clearly describes the problem of plastic pollution and threat to ocean inhabitants. Aimed at the young child as well as up to age 10, Moore combines appealing illustrations and simple alliteration to describe how plastic endangers ocean life and interferes with a healthy environment. Important words are highlighted in color so the child can easily follow the story. A forward by Dr. Christine Figgoner clearly explains the plastic pollution problem and encourages children to become a hero and fight it. While showing humans are causing the pollution, the book also shows how humans can address it. Helpful additional information is included at the end of the story, including a glossary of terms used and a listing of calendar days dedicated to the environment. This book is a complete package of entertaining story and educational purpose. I highly recommend it to children, parents and teachers who are interested in preserving our earth. Ms. Moore is an environmental hero for writing and publishing this book!
