This book takes readers inside the mysterious world of Loggerhead sea turtles as they hatch in their nest and head out toward the open sea. One little sea turtle goes the wrong way and is rescued by a young boy, who learns about the dangers and adventures encountered by sea turtles everywhere. Sea Turtles Hatching is bound to delight and educate readers of all age
I bought Sea Turtles Hatching by Katherine Orr for my middle school students. For this group, the book will be a quick read that will give them a clear sense of how working together is a key part of survival for sea turtles. It will also show them how the chances of survival are dramatically affected by dumb luck as well as good choices. I want my students to understand they are a part of that delicate web called the ecosystem, or, more personally, Earth. They can do right and more and better so long as they are girded with good, solid information. This book offers just that as it touches the heart.
