It's easy to make assumptions or jump to conclusions based on surface-level observations or incomplete information. But, things are often much more complex than they appear at first glance, and there may be underlying factors or hidden details that can change our understanding of a situation.

This is the reason why it is important to approach new information with an open mind and a willingness to consider multiple perspectives. It is also imperative to seek out reliable sources of information and to be critical of origins that may be biased or unreliable.

In the book, ‘Death In The Walled City’ by author Aditya Banerjee, we see how our perceptions can be influenced by our biases, experiences, and the context in which we observe things, and our understanding of a situation may change as we gather more information or as conditions evolve.

The story begins with the introduction of Nitya, who has just been promoted to a senior journalist, but because being one of the youngest, and also somewhat of her gender, she has to tread very carefully as her peers are not those who are used to someone challenging them.

The death of Avneesh Trivedi should have been written off as one of the casualty in the riots that made the entire old city tense, but soon it is realized that it was not what met the eye, but rather a conspiracy, and while investigating it would not bring him back, yet our protagonists embark on the mission to bring closure to his family.

With one character on a path of redemption, wanting to get out of his current circumstances, while the other wanting to prove that the position she held was made for her, despite what may others would have felt, this is a great book that delves deeper into a nail biting thriller, bound to keep us hooked. Hence, I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is my first book of this author and I've to say I'm so much impressed with the way he writes the story. The death in the walled city is an amazing police/journalist crime thriller. It's in perfect pace set in 1980's old Delhi. The Character developments are so good I especially liked Nitya and Shiv. Shiv had so much mystery to him and i wish to know why he was infamous in his work. Nitya and Shankar's character had so much professional ethical qualities.

I would rate this 4/5 cause I feel the endings could have been clearly explained some more. But other than that, this story was nail biting, edging kinda book.

This felt more like a movie than a book to me, the descriptions are very detailed and vivid but didn't drag much. I'm definitely recommending this to my friends and have high hopes on reading the author's next books

I loved the plot, the characters, the setting, and the trip back to the early 80s.

On the day of Nitya Chaturvedi's well-deserved promotion to senior management at The New India Courier, a riot erupted inside the old sector of the city known as Old Delhi. Railcars were burned, shops vandalized and looted, and when it was all said and done, 11 people had been killed and dozens injured.

But the incident was still very different than the communal riots that had plagued the ancient walled city. Rather than lasting for days at a time, this one peaked and dissipated within hours, and no one could identify what had touched things off in the first place. Even the torched railcars had been empty ones. Another oddity; one of the victims killed suddenly disappeared – all official records of his death gone, along with the body.

Disgraced senior police officer, Shankar Sen, was on patrol in Old Delhi near the riot's epicenter when the first report was made. He and his driver discovered the first two murder victims in an alleyway near the rail station, their bodies burned. It is one of these bodies that inexplicably goes missing, and Sen is compelled to unravel the secrecy.

Meanwhile, Nitya and her team of reporters at The New India Courier are tasked with writing features about each of the ten victims. When one of her new young journalists discovers they should be looking into the background of 11 lost lives, she teams up with her old friend, Shankar Sen, to get to the bottom of the cover-up, which may involve key members in the police and government itself.

Death in the Walled City is a moody and engaging mystery set in the winter of 1983 in New Delhi. Seeing the inner workings of Nitya's newspaper was intriguing, as was her working environment and the culture of the early 1980s. She was a woman in a man's world. The old boys' club, the office politics of the time, strategic relationships and alliances among colleagues, and the rumor mill are all on full and glorious display. She's joined the senior ranks and there are those that would be glad to see her fail.

The investigation into what was behind this unusual riot was captivating, and the location and culture of Old Delhi were fascinating. The contrasts among the characters' lives were eye-opening, with two separate, and not equal, Indias apparent. I rooted for the underdogs, Shiv and Shankar Sen, and was "all-in" on Nitya's success in her quest for answers from the start.

I really enjoyed the subplots involving the characters' personal and their families. Nitya's mother's machinations to find her a husband was fun. But her sister's marital situation was left at a pivotal juncture. Also, I felt for Shankar and his struggle to balance his work life and family life. I hope there are future books planned so I can see what becomes of these people.

There is quite a bit of exposition throughout the novel. This had me worried, initially, that the book was going to be a lot of telling and not enough showing. However, I came to believe this information was to catch readers up with what had happened historically, not only with the city and culture but with the two main characters, Nitya and Shankar Sen, who have a prior history together. (There is a previous book in which they meet.) But the bottom line is I loved the plot, the characters, the exotic (to me) setting, and the trip back to the early 80s.

I recommend DEATH IN THE WALLED CITY for mystery readers who enjoy stories featuring investigative reporters, underdog police officers, strong female protagonists, a historical time frame, and a setting in India.

Death in the walled city
It's a slow-burn thriller. I have read the author's first novel and I loved his ability to create ambience. He meticulously crafted the characters in every book, and here again, the riot and ragged atmosphere of the walled city is explicitly narrated by him.

When old Delhi was rocked by communal riots, there were many victims. But one death stands out and seems different from the others. Police and some journalists start investigating what happened during the riots and in their aftermath. When a police officer in Old Delhi starts digging, he uncovers secrets that one of their own may be involved in. This officer Shankar Sen must tread carefully as he is out of favor with his superiors. The story also attracts the attention of journalists from a newspaper and she is none other than Nitya Chaturvedi.

Nitya has just got a promotion in her paper and has joined the senior ranks. She leads a young team of reporters who are eager to please and prone to making mistakes. Nitya knows that there’s a lot at stake for her, and if things go wrong, the blame will fall squarely on her shoulders.

Author unravels the mystery slowly and masterfully with Shankar and Nitya looking at the case, they slowly realize that the death of this one victim may be tied to a much larger conspiracy. They are aided by a pesky young reporter who has a habit of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. However, what he finds, throws the case wide open, and soon everyone must take notice.

Slowly author built the atmosphere, the vibe felt genuine and totally historical.
In this book, Nitya's character grows and her grit, author handled very skillfully, by the time Nitya gained maturity, and the bonding between the character and the readers, every aspect was handled with immense profundity, author sketches her character very skillfully with simple words.

In her character, now she is apt when she talks with her mother and maturity shows when she tackles the situation with her mother. The nuances of her life are portrayed so well.
It is visible that Nitya and her mother are signified past and future Indian women. I loved this complexity. It's a brilliant aspect of this book and author did this with his delicate storytelling style.

Every chapter is shuttering with some new twist that helps readers intrigued throughout the book.

Author delved into 1970s social norms brilliantly and portrayed every character with heart and soul. The unexplained mystery holds readers' mind and keep them hooked until they finish this book. Author brilliantly delivered another mystery story.

And last but not least, I love this book's quality, in every book, printing, page quality, and readability are brilliant.
Read this if you love the good old vibe in thrillers.

The book "Death in the Walled City" by Aditya Banerjee is set in the winter of 1983 at Old delhi. Old Delhi is rocked by communal riots, and there are many victims. Railcars were burned, shops vandalized and looted, and when it was all said and done, 11 people had been killed and dozens injured, but all this happens within a few hours which is quite abnormal cause riots normally take place for minimum 1-2 days.
The main plot of the story is mainly revolving around investigating a death that appears to be different from the others that occurred during the riots. Senior police officer, Shankar Sen, was on patrol in Old Delhi near the riot's epicenter when the first report was made. On the other hand, Nitya Chaturvedi, a journalist has just got a promotion in her paper and has joined the senior ranks. She leads a young team of reporters who are eager to learn and skillful at their work. Nitya and her team of reporters at The New India Courier are tasked with writing features about each of the ten victims. Nitiya teams up with Police officer Shanker sen for the investigation. As the mystery unravels, with Shankar and Nitya looking at the case, they slowly realize that the death of this one victim may be tied to a much larger conspiracy.
This is my second book by Aditya Banerjee and honestly speaking I became a fan of his writing. He is the kind of author who can make you fall in love even with a suspension thriller man, the twists and turns of his stories are just mind-blowing, you can't even imagine, there is something surprising waiting for you on the next page. The book "Death in the Walled City" is a mystery thriller. The author wrote the story in such a way that a reader can feel every situation , every character's feelings, the chaos of the riots, the sound of guns being fired, as the reader was present at that situation. The reader is able to picture the entire story easily for its writing style. The narrative of this book is so fast-paced that it can make the reader glued with the pages of the book. The office politics of the time, strategic relationships and alliances among colleagues are shown perfectly in the story. Nitiya is a successful woman working in the 1980s era, so it's normal, many other people want to see her failures. On the other hand, Shanker uncovers secrets that one of their own may be involved in. So now he , must tread carefully as he is out of favor with his superiors. The culture of early 80s in Old Delhi has also been revealed in the book. I am recommending everyone to read this book, cause the thrillers of Aditya Banerjee are different from the normal thrillers. I read two books of Mr. Banerjee and both of them are set in the pre-modern era and have unique turning points of their own.

The book "Death in the Walled City" by Aditya Banerjee is a gripping mystery novel set in January 1983 in the backdrop of the communal riots in Old Delhi. The story revolves around investigating a death that appears to be different from the others that occurred during the riots.
Shankar Sen, a police officer in Old Delhi, takes the lead in investigating the case and uncovers secrets that suggest the involvement of someone within the police department. Meanwhile, Nitya Chaturvedi, a senior journalist leading a team of reporters, also takes an interest in the case, knowing that the stakes are high and any mistake could cost her dearly.
As the story progresses, Shankar and Nitya realize that the death of the victim may be linked to a larger conspiracy. They are joined by a pesky young reporter who inadvertently discovers crucial information that throws the case wide open. The twists and turns in the plot keep the readers engaged as the mystery deepens and the case takes unexpected turns. The tension in the book is palpable as the investigation unfolds, with the stakes high for both the police and journalists.

I enjoyed all the characters in the book, including Shankar, Nitya, and Shiv. I found their relationships to be compelling, such as the friendship between Shankar and Nitya or the bond between Nitya and Shive. Additionally, I appreciated the surprising twist at the end regarding Shiv.
The characters in the book are well-developed, with their unique personalities and motivations adding to the intrigue of the story. The author's writing style is engaging, with vivid descriptions of the setting and well-crafted dialogue that brings the characters to life. The pacing is steady, with enough action and introspection to keep the story moving. Some readers may find the story to be slow-paced in the beginning. In my own experience, I also found the beginning to be slow-moving. Nevertheless, it is crucial to have proper descriptions that help readers grasp the story better. It is imperative to include such details to improve comprehension of the plot. However, after the first 40-50 pages, the story gains momentum and becomes much faster-paced.

Overall, "Death in the Walled City" is a well-crafted mystery novel that keeps the readers hooked till the end. The book is a must-read for anyone who loves the mystery genre and is looking for a good page-turner. The author has done an excellent job of weaving together a complex plot, intriguing characters, and a compelling setting, making this book a worthwhile read. I have read the author's other book, "Broken Dreams: A Callipur Murder Mystery," and I must say, if you enjoy reading murder mysteries or thrillers, you should definitely read these books. They have a completely different plot from the usual thriller books. Both books' plots are set in the pre-modern era, and you will get a unique perspective on thrillers.

Some book ,some stories remain in our core of the heart forever and left a mark in our mind. " Death In The Walled City " by Aditya Banerjee is such a story which left a mark in my mind. Though the discussion of the story line in such a book where many surprises are waiting after turning the pages , I personally don't like. As it destroys the author's effort and spoiler is never a great experience for me. However the storyline unfolds against the backdrop of the harrowing communal riots that grip Old Delhi in January 1983. Amidst the chaos and devastation, a singular death stands out, drawing the attention of police officer Shankar Sen and journalist Nitya Chaturvedi. As they embark on their respective quests for truth, the narrative unravels a tapestry of intrigue and hidden motives. Sen's investigation takes him down a treacherous path where the line between ally and adversary blurs, fueled by his tenuous relationship with superiors.
Meanwhile, Nitya grapples with the challenges of her newfound journalistic leadership, navigating the ethical dilemmas inherent in unraveling a city's secrets. The entry of an unconventional young reporter adds a dynamic twist, his unorthodox approach threatening to either dismantle the case or expose its core truths. Set amidst a city in turmoil, this mystery go ahead... Grab a copy and you can't stop yourself until you finish it.

What I was impressed with the most was the flow of the writing! Everything is gelled together seamlessly and I whizzed through the book in one sitting. The author's writing style is fast-paced , making it a real page-turner. This is a type of book which I can read whenever or wherever I am. The author's technique of raw, magnetic characters and great plotlines is a gift.

Overall, I loved the book and strongly recommend fellow readers to give it a try. The author's ability to craft a thrilling and thought-provoking narrative makes this book a must-read for fans of mystery, and suspense.
And lastly, I'd thank the man who edited this cover, else it would have taken more or less months to come across the read, post finishing the other books of my collection. Must Recommend

The Death in the Walled City by Aditya Banerjee takes readers on a gripping journey through the narrow alleys and crowded streets of Old Delhi during a time when mobile phones were non-existent, and public booths served as the lifeline for communication. The story starts off with a backdrop of a communal riot which was a routine activity in the polarized hot-bed of Old Delhi however the plot quickly evolves into something more sinister and is more than meets the eye.

The narrative revolves around Nitya, a seasoned senior journalist, and Shankar Sen, the Head of Kotwal Police station, as they find themselves entangled in a web of mystery and danger. The author skillfully weaves the historical and traditional outlook of yesteryear India bringing in the emotional aspect. The author very beautifully and subtly highlighted the pestering issue faced by women regarding how career takes a backseat in an attempt to take care of the family. It did not matter that Nitya did extremely well in her career and has broken the glass ceiling. To her mother and family members, she was still the referred to as the ‘unmarried one’.

The strength of the novel lies in its well-developed characters, each with their own complexities and motivations. Nitya's tenacity and determination, paired with Shankar Sen's no-nonsense approach to policing, and Shiv’s (a junior journalist) relentless pursuit for truth make for a compelling team that drives this perplexing investigation forward.
As the story progresses, the author skillfully unravels the mystery, revealing unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the very end. The pacing is well-managed, with a perfect balance of suspenseful moments and character development.

The Death in the Walled City is a compelling thriller that seamlessly blends historical elements with a gripping mystery. The author’s writing style is engaging, and his ability to capture the essence of the time and place adds an extra layer of authenticity to the narrative. This novel is a must-read for those who enjoy intricately plotted mysteries set against a rich cultural backdrop.

Set against the backdrop of the communal riots in Old Delhi during the turbulent month of January 1983, "Death In The Walled City" isn’t your typical whodunnit — it’s a gritty, atmospheric dive into the complexities of justice, truth, and the ever-blurring lines between them. Aditya Banerjee paints a haunting picture of a city in chaos, where the death of Avneesh Trivedi appears, at first glance, to be just another casualty in the unrest. But when police officer Shankar Sen starts picking at the supposed facts and journalist Nitya Chaturvedi smells a story that doesn’t add up, what unravels is a dark, tightly woven conspiracy stretching deep into the very systems meant to protect.

The beauty of this novel lies in how Banerjee lets his characters carry the story with both grit and heart. Sen is anything but your standard-issue investigator; he’s burdened, introspective, and constantly wrestling with a moral compass that could use some recalibration. Nitya, on the other hand, is whip-smart, pushing back against dated hierarchies in the newsroom while navigating the very real dangers of chasing the truth. Together — and sometimes at odds — they bring a kind of reluctant partnership that crackles with tension and unspoken understanding. Add in bystanders and bit-players who might be more involved than they seem, and you’re left suspicious of everyone, just as any good thriller demands.

If you’re looking for a neat little mystery with a bow on top — this ain’t it. "Death In The Walled City" thrives in the murkiness. The pacing builds gradually, dragging you deep into the smoke-filled alleys and hidden agendas before slamming the door shut with a finale that’s as chilling as it is cathartic. Banerjee doesn’t offer easy answers or cardboard villains, and that’s precisely what makes this book so compelling. It's a slow-burn thriller with literary heft — perfect for readers who appreciate smart storytelling with a strong sense of place and time.

Book : Death In The Walled City
Author : ADITYA BANERJEE

I used the holiday to read the book. Post lunch I picked up the book thinking I would finish one chapter and go off to sleep! The first chapter took me off my feet and I landed back only when I completed all of them by evening. It was a 6-hour roller-coaster ride of emotions. The characters are still ringing in my head!

Well As always i said There's something about Aditya Banerjee’s novel you just can't keep calm unless you finish it. Is it because of beautiful writing style, or proper handling of emotions, or detailed characters or something else, I don't know. But it is intriguing for sure. This novel is also like that. This story was almost like watching a movie. Every scene was running inside my mind. The author's writing skill was the obvious reason behind this.

The story revolves around the investigation of a single death, which is different from the others, and uncovers a much larger conspiracy. Is a gripping novel that takes the reader on a thrilling journey through the streets of Old Delhi, where a 40-year-old communal riot still haunts the city. To know what happened next, grab the book & give it a try.

Oh, what a book! If you just buy one book this year, make it this! It appears as if someone is sitting next to you and narrating these stories. Each of the characters are so strong that they bind you with their personalities, and force you to remember them long after you have read the stories. The Author has described each scene in the book in detail and with accuracy. He has used interesting words that portray the scene brilliantly. The Author has described everything perfectly. “Death in the Walled City" is a gripping mystery novel that keeps readers hooked until the end. Like a well-crafted mystery, it invites writers to solve the case, pulling them into the atmospheric setting and leaving them guessing amidst a web of clues and unsolved questions.

Set in Old Delhi in January 1983, the story begins with communal riots breaking out, leading journalists, led by the freshly promoted Nitya Chaturvedi, and police, led by Officer Shankar Sen, to investigate. They observe a discrepancy in the number of victims, and further investigation reveals that one death is part of a larger conspiracy. Will Nitya and Shankar solve this seemingly unsolvable case?

The story encompasses all elements of an engrossing mystery: a unique setting, a gripping main mystery, resourceful sleuths, and a plethora of clues that keep readers guessing. From the start, the narrative captures the vibe of the old city caught in communal violence, providing a unique backdrop where the killer remains imperceptible. The story unfolds as a slow burn but gains unstoppable momentum once the investigation begins. Clues are sparse and revealed only after meticulous investigation, prompting readers to think. The narrative incorporates several twists and turns, adding to the story's intrigue.

The characters in the book are well-crafted, each with different motives and backgrounds that lend subtle shades to their personalities. Nitya's interest as a journalist differs from Shankar's perspective as a police officer. Having read three books by the author, I've always admired their writing style—slowly and steadily elevating the mystery while building a tense atmosphere.

In summary, "Death in the Walled City" is an excellent mystery with a unique plot, memorable characters, and compelling writing. Fans of the mystery genre are sure to enjoy this book.

I finished reading the book during the holiday. I started reading the book after lunch with the intention of finishing one chapter and falling asleep. After finishing the first chapter by night, I felt as though I had taken a dive. Emotions were high and low for six hours. My mind continues to ring with the characters!

All right, Like I always stated You just can't stay peaceful till you finish Aditya Banerjee's book for some reason. I'm not sure whether it's due to the exquisite writing style, deft emotional management, rich character development, or anything else. All the same, it's fascinating. Similar to that, this novel is. There was a cinematic quality to this story. My thoughts were replaying every scene. It was evidently the result of the author's writing ability.

Investigating one unusual murder leads to the discovery of a far wider conspiracy, which is the central theme of the narrative. is a compelling book that takes the reader on an exciting tour through Old Delhi's streets, where a communal riot that occurred 40 years ago still lingers. Get the book and try it to find out what transpired next.

Death In The Walled City is a muder mystery book written by Aditya Banerjee in around 400 pages.

The narrative unfolds in the ancient city of Old Delhi during the 1980s and centers around a stunning homicide case that seizes everyone's attention. The story, brimming with distinctive and enthralling details, engrosses readers from its inception replete with multiple knotty predicaments testing their conjectural abilities till the conclusion. Playing an imperative role in cracking down on the mystery surrounding this incident was none other than our main character; all while adeptly unearthing hidden connivances providing added piquancy to this already intriguing plotline.

After the chaos of the riots and their ensuing consequences, there is now an inquiry underway from various sources including law enforcement officials, as well as members of the press. Meanwhile in Old Delhi, a police officer named Shankar Sen takes it upon himself to delve deeper into this situation resulting with unraveling some disconcerting details which pointed fingers back at one of his fellow colleagues within the department. Regrettably for Officer Sen however, he finds himself existing on shaky ground due to tension with those who hold authority over him and must therefore proceed carefully during every step towards resolution.
The layers of each character are peeled back in a way that is both skillful and effective.

For individuals who value excellent storytelling and well-crafted character growth, I highly suggest this book.

I thank the author for writing this book. Everything is amazing and gorgeous about this book . I thoroughly enjoyed this book alot. The language is also easy and lucid to understand. Overall I would highly recommend this book to all readers.
Happy reading 😍

Here the protagonist is Nitya, a young journalist who has acheived heights in her career at a younger age.She had to confront several dangers to dig out the nasty political power play. It is the year 1983 in old Delhi. In the garb of communal riots a man is killed. Shankar, Nitya and Shiv embark on the quest to solve this murder mystery. Crime thrillers penned by Aditya Banerjee never disappoint.

It is the year 1983. In the garb of communal riots a man is killed. Shankar Sen, with not so good reputation with his seniors, runs an investigation against the norms of the department. His previous debacle during a labour protest had landed him in the volatile riot prone zone of Old Delhi. Nitya Chaturvedi has recently been promoted as the Senior editor in The New India Courier because of her impeccable performance. She is aided by Shiv, who is considered to be an insolent journalist by everyone and gets reprimanded from every direction. The narration begins with the breakout of riots in Old Delhi under the jurisdiction of Kotwali Police Station. But in the short span of time, misinformation of number of victims, deaths and movement of trucks from Hauz Khaus to Dehradun during that specific time makes our characters- Shanker, Nitya and Shiv- pursue the case even though it's outside their purview.

Death In the Walled City is a narrow escape, fast paced murder mystery, a thriller novel with subtly delivered shockers in between. In this book, we meet Nitya and Shankar, characters from author's previous work, Broken Dreams, anew. While Nitya and Shankar persue their path to glory, Shiv adds an element of curiosity, passion and anguish to the tale. ©

"Death in the Walled City" is a gripping novel that explores the aftermath of communal riots in Old Delhi. The book centers around the investigation of one death that seems different from the others, and the secrets that are uncovered as the case unfolds.

The two main characters in the novel, police officer Shankar Sen and journalist Nitya Chaturvedi, are both flawed and complex, making them relatable and intriguing to follow. Shankar, who is out of favor with his superiors, must navigate political pressures and corruption within the police force to get to the truth. Meanwhile, Nitya, who leads a young team of reporters, is eager to make a name for herself but must balance this ambition with her duty to report accurately and responsibly.

The story is masterfully crafted, with twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. As the investigation progresses, the case becomes more complex and ties to a larger conspiracy are revealed. The inclusion of a pesky young reporter who unwittingly stumbles upon crucial information adds an element of humor and tension to the story.

The author does an excellent job of exploring the themes of power, corruption, and the impact of communal violence on a community. The setting of Old Delhi is richly portrayed, with vivid descriptions that transport the reader to the streets of the walled city.

Overall, "Death in the Walled City" is a must-read for fans of mystery and crime novels. The characters are compelling, the plot is intricately woven, and the themes are thought-provoking. The book is a powerful commentary on the complexities of justice and the importance of truth in the face of corruption and violence.

Aditya Banerjee's "Death In The Walled City" surpassed my expectations, much like my experience with the author's previous work. Familiarity with Banerjee's writing compelled me to delve into this book, and the title hinted at the narrative's intensity.

Set in Old Delhi, the story unveils a unique death. As the police and journalists embark on an investigation, secrets unfold, implicating one of their own. Shankar Sen, a police officer in Old Delhi, navigates a precarious path, knowing he's out of favor with superiors.

The narrative also follows Nitya Chaturvedi, a journalist leading a young, eager team. The pressure on her shoulders amplifies the stakes, adding a layer of complexity to the unfolding events. I liked her character a lot. I admire her bravery and the adept way she navigates obstacles. The author's extensive research is evident throughout the story.

The plot weaves intrigue and suspense seamlessly, maintaining a gripping hold from beginning to end. Banerjee skillfully integrates the historical and cultural dimensions of Old Delhi in the 1980s, enriching the narrative with a vivid backdrop.

The storytelling is amazing, creating a historically accurate atmosphere that immerses readers in the chaotic walled city. The characters, particularly Nitya and Shankar, undergo significant growth, mirroring the evolving social norms of the time.

"Death In The Walled City" is a great book to read. The way the author has crafted a compelling narrative, blending historical authenticity, suspense, and character development into a captivating tale, is commendable.

The story set in Delhi, old Delhi and dehradun, in newspaper agency called "The New India courier, Main protagonist of the article is Nitya who is getting promoted to senior level of journalista and editor in the office and first case of her after getting promotion is that there are riots happening in Old Delhi and there subordinate Shiv is stuck and not able to reach office but covering the news whenever possible break is given through curfew and He alongside Shankar (head of Kotwali police area) found 2 burnt bodies.

The riots that started and subsided very quickly which make many head turns and they started the investigation when one of the victims bodies went missing and his parents doesn't recieved the death certificate . There was something fishy as all of them suspected.

The investigation turn an interesting twist and turn in story when Avneesh Trivedi past job ,friends and other connections between the dead are found and the truth about why the whole organised riots started and why Avneesh was killed came to light. They all reach Dehradun to uncover the truth and while returning we came to know the real identity of Shiv which was good.

The family drama from Nitya family about her marriage shows the mentality of society we still live in, and redemption of the family in the end when Kavita came to Nitya shows that things can change if people understand. Madhavi and Shiv connection is also came to light too was interesting turn of events for readers.

The story is fast paced fiction, well detailed account of the criminal conspiracy and thriller time with family drama and corporate culture and jealousy.

There are several casualties in the communal riots that shake Old Delhi in January 1983. One fatality sticks out from the others and seems unique. As the riots and their aftermath are being investigated by the police and certain journalists. A police officer in Old Delhi begins to investigate and unearths information that suggests one of their own may be involved. Due to his poor standing with his superiors, the officer Shankar Sen must proceed with caution. Nitya Chaturvedi just entered the senior ranks after receiving a promotion at her newspaper. She is in charge of a youthful, desperate to please, and clumsy group of correspondents. She is aware that there is much at risk for her and that she will be held entirely responsible if something goes wrong. The book's protagonists are strong, and each of them has a distinct personality and set of goals that add to the interest of the narrative. With vivid environment descriptions and carefully produced dialogue that brings the characters to life, the author's writing style is interesting. The tale moves along at a steady pace with just the right amount of action and reflection. The beginning of the narrative could seem sluggish to certain readers. In my personal experience, I also thought the start was a bit sluggish. However, it is essential to include accurate descriptions that aid readers in better understanding the plot. Such information must be included in order to increase plot understanding. However, the tale picks up steam and accelerates significantly after the first 40 to 50 pages.

This compelling story by the author takes you to Old Delhi in 1983, during a time of racial strife. Journalist Nitya Chaturvedi and Police Officer Shankar Sen’s inquiry into a mysterious death connected to a wider scheme is chronicled in the book.

The author offers a realistic picture of the chaotic metropolis by depicting the dynamics between coworkers and the challenges of office politics in the 1980s. Shankar Sen, who battles with his superiors, and Nitya, an accomplished woman in a difficult situation, give the plot complexity.

The story centers on Nitya Chaturvedi. The weight bearing down on her shoulders raises the stakes and complicates the sequence of events. I really enjoyed her character. Her bravery and skill at overcoming hurdles are admirable. The plot flows naturally from the author’s thorough study.

The ideal fusion of anarchy, legality, politics, and cunning was something I adored. It gets more interesting with a riot, a victim, a secret, and a larger twist.

The narrative is superb, transporting readers to the tumultuous walled city in an authentically medieval setting. Character development is substantial, especially for Nitya and Shankar, who reflect the changing societal mores of the day.

Overall, the story is quite clear and has a fantastic conclusion. The plot thickens and deepens as the novel progresses, and the characters stick with you the entire time. Every page you turn brings the events to life before your eyes, and the anticipation of each new scenario keeps you focused and intrigued.

After reading a couple of books from the author I can safely assume that he has a penchant for weaving tales around journalism. May be has observed the profession so closely that he never fails in depicting its true state in any of his creation.

This story just like his other books is based around the times of 70s and 80s. It was the era of communal riots by fanatic Islamists(Not that they have reduced now) and amongst a sea of victims there is one death that stands out and is different from others. The seasoned officer , Shankar Sen is entrusted with the responsibility of solving the case and it garners attention of media as well with Nitya joining the bandwagon . Will they be able to reach the root of the issue?
Grab the book to find out.

For the umpteenth time , author has excelled in character sketch. Also the vibes of Old Delhi are unmatched. Having spent a considerable amount of my life in Delhi , I could very well imagine and recreate those golden old days. The storytelling has all the flair and fervour of a quintessential Aditya Sir work with precise detailing and apt vocabulary. Though the pacing of novel at times was a bit relentless but those minor glitches can be overlooked for an otherwise flawless book. The book made me recall the more recent horrifying crimes of CAA in East Delhi that saw so many innocent Hindus being butchered mercilessly by the mad Islamic mob. I guess author might have taken the inspiration from the same incident to set up the premise of this novel.

All in all a pretty fascinating work .

There are numerous casualties in the communal riots that shake Old Delhi in January 1983. One death sticks out from the others and seems unique. As the riots and their aftermath are being investigated by the authorities and some journalists. A police officer in Old Delhi begins to investigate and unearths information that suggests one of their own may be implicated. Due to his poor standing with his supervisors, officer Shankar Sen must proceed with caution.

Newspaper journalists are also drawn to the tale. Nitya Chaturvedi recently moved up to the senior levels after receiving a promotion at her newspaper. She is in charge of a youthful, naive group of reporters. She is aware that there is a great deal at risk for her and that she will be held entirely responsible if something goes wrong.

We were able to follow the riot's development through the journalist's eyes.
The political and emotional angles that were presented in this novel were excellent. The writing was very engaging and easy to comprehend. A moody and intriguing story, Death in the Walled City is set in New Delhi during the winter of 1983. It was fascinating to see how Nitya's newspaper operated, as well as to learn about her workplace and early 1980s society. She lived in a male-dominated society. Her bravery and resolve to discover the truth and achieve justice were truly heroic.
This story was really enjoyable because of the mysterious atmospheric scenes and plot points as well as the characters' engagement with each and every case.
