The story about a body in continuous transformation.
This book unravels the mystery surrounding women's biology and explains what is happening underneath the surface.
We all know that the female body changes cyclically every month during the reproductive years, and that it completely transforms during puberty, pregnancy and menopause. However, most of us ignore the fascinating details. What triggers those changes and what are the sometimes unexpected consequences?
The facts are as mind-blowing as entertaining. Based on the latest research, all information is presented in an easy to read manner with plenty of anecdotes; from historical prejudices to personal experiences, with some evolutionary ideas in between
Lisa Falco, MSc, PhD, a native Swede living in Switzerland, has been working in the interface between medicine and technology for almost 20 years, on how data can be used to better understand the human body. Doing so she has worked within varying fields of women’s health, such as bone research, diabetes and fertility. She was previously Director of Data Science at Ava, a Swiss FemTech startup, where she led a team developing algorithms and artificial intelligence to help women get pregnant faster by using their physiological data based on their menstrual cycle. The work she did there, and the women I encountered in the process, inspired her to write this book to fight against the misinformation and lack of knowledge about the female body.
I have always been interested in women’s issues and women’s health. I’ve read a fair number of books on the subject of women’s sexuality, women’s health and women’s anatomy. It is because of this that I find books I read now contain the same basic combination of information. However this book had new information I hadn’t heard anywhere else.
In this book you will learn about hormones, cycles from puberty to menopause, fertility, pregnancy and everything in between.
The book includes some fun illustrations and drawings to help you retain information. The book contains pages and pages of references so I feel safe in trusting what it says. The most interesting thing I learned in the book was that “women carry parts of their children (actual cells) with them forever after giving birth.”
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Before reading this book I thought that I was well informed about my body but there has been a lot of new findings, which have changed the story. The book gives a nearly complete overview of what makes a woman. Despite all scientific information it is also a humorous book with many anecdotes. I can strongly recommend it.
This book is full of facts. It made me laugh, think and dream. In this book you will read scientific facts about how female body works. These facts are communicated in an easy and understandable way, which is quite rare. You either find the books that are too scientific and hard to get through or not scientific enough. Go figure is a balanced compromise between the two. I learned a lot to know about fertility, pregnancy and menopause. You'll also find plenty of information about menstrual cycle. And I am happy to know it now. And not be caught by surprise when I am trying to get pregnant or experience menopause. I also feel that I understand the experience of other women better now, because I know now that what's normal "normal" is a range and not a single data point. This book is great. All humans, man and women, will benefit from reading it. And will have lots of fun along the way! Get a copy!
“Go Figure” is a great joy for curious people who want to learn more about the female body and its transformational changes during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause.
The book cover itself announces a journey of discovery and wrapping the female body in an amazing artwork. It is marvelously written through the lens of a data scientist, digital health expert and mother with a pinch of humor and personal stories. The facts, Lisa presents in her book, are eye-opening, based on recent research and makes you want to learn more about the women’s biology and body.
This book enables me to gain more insights about the transformation of my body and my mind. It has become a companion and source of information. Therefore, don’t hesitate and order it now. You will enjoy reading it and discussing some insights with your friends and family.
Wonderful book that provided me a lot of new insights on the female body! I'm a GP medical resident and there were many things i got better explained in the book than during my training. Also it contained a lot of trivia which was fun!
Only thing is it contains a few typos, i wonder if the author employed an editor?
Fun and engaging! I liked the facts that it provides and the way it deals with various myths. The personal stories, although not adding to scientific proof, were a nice addition as it makes the book less dry. Interesting for all stages of the life of a woman. Well done Lisa Falco!
This book is chalk full of facts about the female body I never knew before. It took me a while to read but I was absolutely fascinating. I highly recommend to all women. There’s a lot of stuff in here you wouldn’t have learned in your average health class.
Impressive how Lisa Falco writes about the female body, which I thought I knew a lot about. Reality hit me, that there was so much more for me to learn.
Easy read, with fun facts, comparison, mixed with her own experience and knowledge from life.
