Nestled between Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island, Salix Pointe is not a place that many people know of. As a part of the Golden Isles of Georgia, it's never mentioned because of all the Weeping Willows that grow there. The surrounding town's folk call it the Island of Death. Elisa Hunte never let the old suspicions bother her. Yeah, there had been some strange things that had happened in the town like floating objects and people disappearing in the night, but that happened everywhere, didn't it? Even though every night, she dreamed of the same faceless man who did things to her body that were carnal sins, she knew most of the talk about Salix Pointe was just old folklore. Elisa also knew that she was different. She seemed to sense things before they happened. That was just good ole instinct, right? Tasmin Pettiford was a city girl through and through. She hated the country, particularly Salix Pointe. If it wasn't for the fact that her favorite aunt had recently passed away, and willed her bookstore to her, Tasmin would have never returned to the island that disturbed her on so many levels. There were stories of townspeople practicing magic regularly, others seeming to vanish without a trace, and the bookstore seemed to be the epicenter of all things weird and unusual. Tasmin couldn't offload the property fast enough. The sooner it was sold, the sooner she'd be back in New York, away from the mosquitoes, the bookstore, and the eeriness of a town that caused many a nightmare during her childhood. Or could it really be that simple? Not to mention, Elisa couldn't explain why her body reacted the way it did to the town's brooding vet, Dafari Battle. And when his even sexier brother Octavian Jerrod stepped into town, dragging otherworldly trouble along, Salix Pointe will never be the same. Elisa and Tasmin may not want to put too much stock into the folklore of Salix Pointe, but there is a reason that the universe has brought the two women together.
This was an overrated story....I tried reading this story and I could not get through the book...so I decided to wait on the audiobook....There was so much going on in this story...the only thing I can say is that I really enjoyed the narration....both narrators were new to me and they did a fantastic job narrating this book and taking on all of the various characters.
An Honest & Fair Review: Speculative Fiction has now stepped into the cozy mystery realm!
A worrisome darkness sweeping into a sleepy town, a strong lineage of witch magic, coming from Black legends Tituba and Marie Laveaux? Things not appearing what they seem? I enjoyed this story, though I'm a selective mystery consumer if in the mood. The authors also had me at the Doctor with the blue police box references as well.
Black witches are not celebrated enough or supported and it was clear these authors did their magical research with strengthened the story.
This cozy magical mystery with its pararomance twists and touch of spice in the romance was a great comfort to my fantasy-loving teacup. This is an adult coming-of-age, more like power witch story about two friends who get wrapped up in the mystery behind their separate generational lost lineage and the dangers that come from their unknown background. If you love otherworldly mysterious and alluring brothers who are dysfunctional, but with good reason...family drama and now witch/town drama, then also note that we are given that sultry darkness to go along with our witchy mysterious tale.
I wanted to like this more than I did. The little spooky town was interesting and I liked Tamsin and Elisa. I was annoyed at Dafari creeping on Elisa and having a sexual relationship with her without her knowledge. Makes it even creepier that he wipes her mind every time. Like what? Dafari and his half brother Octavian try to protect the Tamsin and Elisa from their powerful and evil father. This one was just so, so for me. The audiobook narrators, Hazel Addison and Hollace Williams were new to me. Not bad but at times felt like they were just reading the material rather than acting.
I live in Georgia and truly sought out to find Salix Pointe. The story line is a play on the light versus dark theme but with a twist. The characters are earthly and supernatural but the line between good and evil can get jaded. Biblically speaking the author includes the angelic and demonic in a way that makes you think pre-Fall of the relationship of God and Lucifer and after the Fall of Lucifer. It reminds me of a painting I once saw of God and Satan playing chess and the pieces were humanity. This story brings the romance and all it's rollercoaster emotions and dysfunctional family ties. Generational secrets of epic proportions and of course we can't forget magic. Excellent read but I know there's more😉.
I’m trying so hard to get into this, but I’m 66% in and I just can’t. This book for lack of a better word is boring. The over descriptions is annoying to say the least. I mean EVERYTHING is described, every time they have on new clothes it’s described. I found myself skipping pages to get to the point of the chapter. Everything seemed forced, the relationships between the characters is probably the worse. The background characters were way more intriguing than the main characters. It’s dragging and it’s taking me too long to finish and I really don’t think I will. I loooove black witch stories but this one fell super short for me.
Once I started this book I could not put it down! 2 power ladies that rather go on with their lives then get caught up! I love how connections and twists and turns caused me to keep reading! Can’t wait for Book 2!

This book is a southern girl's world! 💜💛💚 Another NTMA that blew our mind with this paranormal romance!💯 My original review is on audible & the narrations was outstanding!
I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. I love the friendship between Elisa and Tasmin and how strong-minded and determined they are. I like the fact they are black witches and wanted and had learned more about their family history than they did before.
I wanted more of Dafari and Elisa's, uh, "relationship" and what's next for them. And also, I would like to see what would come of Tasmin and Octavian as well since they have been together before in another time that Tasmin wasn't aware of. They never had that talk they were supposed to have and I would like to know how it would turn out.
Still, the book is wonderful to read as I am just getting into this genre in the literature-sense. Love the characters except for a few like the mayor and his wife. Lol. And I can't wait to visit Salix Pointe again!
So many hidden secrets and figures in Salix Pointe that are more than meets the eyes! Shady residents, unspoken secrets, traumatic pasts, family drama, and more. The witches didn’t know they had it in them and no one knows the extent of their true powers. Two brothers who aren’t what they seem and family drama that should be on Jerry Springer. They are forced together to stop incendiary forces who believe what they’re doing is for the greater good. This was an excellent book that had just the right amount of romance that was steamy but didn’t overshadow the plot. I was able to get fully invested in the what, who, where and why of the story. I had to look up some of the words used to describe a person, clothing, weapon, etc because I am a very visual and curious person. Loved it! Can’t wait to read the next book!
i’ve been looking for this genre written by a black person! i’m so excited i found this series!! this whole book was a whirlwind and it kept me at the edge of my seat.
I had high hopes for this book. Truly. However, I felt there was a ton of unnecessary description dragging the book down. I found myself skipping entire pages when I knew it was going to be a long description of the same action with no forward movement in plot. There are 6 (i counted) pages of mind-melding leading to the intimacy the reader knows is going to happen. 6 pages. It was mundane. For example; explaining that there is lemon juice within the expiration date. The reader can and should automatically assume the juice isnt expired if the character is going to use it for tea. Thats just one that I can remember. Additionally, there was so much back story. I understand the necessity of backstory in a book, but again, there was so much it made the book drag. There was dialogue that just didnt mesh. At one point, Octavian used the word wench but didnt understand how it was offensive. So this otherworldly angel, that has been living on the earth for an indiscriminate amount of time has adapted to the style of dress and other areas of change but didnt mean to offend Tasmin by calling her a wench. How did he not understand that would be offensive? Though not necessarily an offensive word, if he wanted to call her a young woman, why not say that? It baffles me. Writing from different points of view is difficult so kudos to the writers for pulling that off. As the reader, it was tough reading the same scenes from a different point of view. It is repetitive. This was an easy quick read. I will definitely try another book by the writers. Regards.

The Witches of Salix Pointe is a chilling and captivating story set in a town that feels alive with mystery. Elisa Hunte and Tasmin Pettiford are drawn together by Salix Pointe's dark past, but neither is prepared for the supernatural secrets lurking in the shadows. I loved how the town itself felt like a character, with its weeping willows and whispered tales of vanishing people. Elisa's connection to the brooding vet, Dafari Battle, is electric, especially when his equally mysterious brother Octavian arrives, pulling more trouble along with him. One standout scene is when Elisa’s dream of the faceless man hints at powers she can’t explain, giving the story an extra eerie layer. With magic, danger, and sensuality woven into every page, this book keeps you hooked until the very end!
Okay so this has been my first supernatural read since my early days of Harry Potter & the Goddess Girls series & lemme just say Noelle Vella DID THE D*MN THING 👏🏾. First of all, they’re Black, so that’s already a win! Add to that the plot, the twists & turns, the mystery, the honoring of the Ancestors, and the romantic undertone. Yeah I definitely recommend this book to all. I enjoyed it and felt as though I were watching a film. WHEN they turn this into a movie, I’ll be the first one at the theater to watch it. On to book 2
I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't connect with it. I listened to the audio-version, so maybe that influenced me.
The writing seemed disjointed, with fanciful, SAT vocabulary language, interrupted with colloquialism, Perhaps it was intentional in attempt to connect it to the character dealing with past & present, but it was jarring to me as the listner -- another example "offering me libations" followed with "That'll learn him".
The story was OK, but not enough to overcome the jarring writing.
I has high hopes for this book, I am a big paranormal fan so I could wait to dive in. By chapter five I realized that this was not my cup of tea. The book was overly detailed which caused the reading to drag and the reader to lose focus. This story could be much better if it was shorter if the author would dive into Eliza and Tazmin finding out about their powers and delete the back stories. The ending was pretty decent but once again it was drawn out.
I really wasn’t sure where this story was going, but I did know that the obvious was not the truth. I find the four main characters to be interesting and It appears this book left quite a cliffhanger (at least for me). What is going on with Tasmin’s father or better yet who or what is he? Did octavian’s parents go rogue? What is the truth of why Martha did what she did? I want to know more about who the people of Salix Point? I hope that there’s a book 2
Where has this book been all my life!?!?!?! I absolutely loved everything about it! It's not often that I get to read about otherworldly, fierce, spectacularly bada** Black characters! I am in awe at how brilliantly this was written! I'm excited for another book. I hope another book is coming so I can see how they're going to defeat, I don't even know who the real enemy is, and that makes me so happy. Wow! I can't wait to share this book with everyone!
The beginning of this storyline was interesting which is the reason I continued to read. It was basically up and down for me. Some parts were intriguing then other parts I began zoning out. I expected much more than was given and a lot of things went unanswered. I assume it's the reason for the 2nd part. I wasn't expecting so many errors considering who the authors are but it was errors. I give it a 3 and I will check out pt 2
I really enjoyed this book. Novelle Vella is an author, I have heard of before. She had an interesting idea for the book I just read, I hope she writes anither book with the same likeable characters. Only recommend she use a proofreader in the future, some mistakes might have been caught before this book went to press.
I enjoyed this story of witches, demons, and angels. Salix Pointe sounds like a cute little town which is filled with lots of mystery and magic! Despite Defari and Octavian family dynamics it was nice to see their love for each other. The banter between all four characters was a delight. Demon Daddy (lol) will keep you on your toes. I look forward to returning to Salix Pointe.
What is this book? All of your favorite things. 1 part Sherlock and Mycroft. 2 parts Black southern Witches. A mysterious little town with the most wonderful libary and steamy romances. Dark American tales horrifying in their truths and a tiny bit of Scooby-Doo vibes.
I found this boom very intriguing and want to read the next one. The only negative thing is the cost of the next book! $7.99 is somewhat high and with so many other authors with great books their prices are lower. I have to think about if I will read the next one, but time will tell. You're a great writer Noelle and since the beginning of the book, I was drawn in to the characters.
A pleasure from beginning to end. I found myself thinking about it even when I wasn’t reading it. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. Please keep writing, ladies.
I enjoyed this book. I do feel like the book dragged along at some points but all in all I liked it. I enjoyed the characters. The ending left some unanswered questions so I'm looking forward to book 2.
This book was surprisingly really good i loved all four characters…i cant wait to read more about the four of them because that couldnt be all you had👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I'm not this author however I totally enjoy this book the twist and turns I could not put it down The love of fair the mystery of the town And it's people I definitely can't Way to read book too
Omg I loved this story I can really see it being a series of some sort of maybe even a movie and all black supernatural movie would be a hit seriously! I loved this story. I can’t wait to read the second book!
This book was lovely and hilarious. I don’t suggest you read it while at work though. I laughed so much reading this story and received quite a few stares from people thinking I was nutty. I am starting book 2 immediately.
I enjoyed this book. Good plot and good character development. I am looking forward to the installment. I especially like the African American characters leading a paranormal story.
This was so well done. I fell in love with the characters from the get go. Tasmin was so relatable. And Octavian just cracked me up. I really do hope I can read some more of them!! Brilliant!
