John Frum: The Reluctant Messiah

Rate this book
A riveting tale of fiction set against the backdrop of actual, historical events .

When your life begins as an infant wrapped in sackcloth, being whisked out of the jungle in the dead of night, with hundreds of angry, snarling, spear-laden natives in pursuit, you're bound to grow up with an issue or two. But despite his tumultuous beginnings, everything always seemed to go right with John. Over the years everyone noticed. Everyone except him. He never knew why. His childhood was no help, leaving him with nothing but questions that went mysteriously unanswered. And there were people, always people, watching. He could feel it. But now, through a series of strange and fateful mishaps, he found himself alone, hanging upside down from the crumpled mess of what was left of his plane, deep in the jungles of Tanna, mistaken for the long awaited, returning messiah of a primitive, utopian tribe known as the Cargo Cult. Whether it was his sudden arrival in their midst or the tribe's innocent, mystical culture of believing known as Koontal, it was never entirely certain, but the crossing of those paths proved providential. Not only provoking those who sought it's unfathomable power but unwittingly becoming the catalyst for providing a gateway to the fulfillment of a very dark and ominous prophecy that no one could have anticipated and no one but their messiah could have saved them from.

Robert Buckley is a professional musician, business owner, and writer who left Los Angeles for the quiet seclusion found in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. He has spent most of his adult life in right-brain pursuits and mistakenly prides himself in allowing his sense of humor to occasionally go just a bit too far- much to the displeasure of his wife and two adult children. At the moment, his writer's trophy shelf is sadly empty but is hoping this book will change all that. His list of musical accolades however, is filled with 80's celebrities, whose famous names populate the "Where are they now?" TV series. You can connect with him through his blog site, www.facebook.com/thefuturehasbeen where you can comment on his work. But do try to remain civil. If you can't be civil, at least be clever.
