Ahhhh this was cute! I didn’t know how I was going to feel with the perspectives changing and the focus moving to a new couple, but it worked! There is so much tension and cute moments between that I need volume 7! I can’t wait for Viz to upload the next set of chapters.

When the mangaka said that she was going to be starting a new arc of sorts, but that it WASN'T centering around our "middle-aged married couple," I was SO bummed! I love Satomi and Yagyu BECAUSE they act like a middle-aged married couple! LOL! It's so fun and relaxing seeing their love story unfold, with this volume being no exception!

While we only really see them as the focus in volume one, it made my stomach have butterflies as well as laugh a few times because goodness talk about a flashback to bringing your boyfriend home for the first time! Satomi was DEEPLY relatable! LOL! I really liked how much Yagyu liked her family and vice versa though! It was a very fun chapter!

Now back to my original point, I was nervous I wouldn't enjoy following Miria and Noda but it was fun and different! I'm definitely cheering for Miria and very much admired how she stuck to her convictions until the very end. I sort of thought she wouldn't given how much she likes Noda, so it was surprising.

Ima Koi definitely continues to be one of my favorite ongoing shoujo series! This was another great volume even if it was different than I expected!

Sometimes my horror loving heart fancies a change and gravitates towards ‘slice of life’ romance 🖤 this volume focuses on Miria and Noda, a different young couple who are friends of the main characters - Satomi and Yagyu! They are both shy and stubborn in their own ways. Noda has his guard up because he has been hurt by a previous girlfriend and Miria hasn’t had a serious relationship before so she is unsure exactly how to navigate her feelings. All she knows is she is falling for Noda quickly and wants to be his girlfriend.

I was REALLY nervous with the direction the new arc would have gone in but I'm glad to say, I'm happy we're heading in it and I'm onboard for the ride!

I'm only invested in this series for the main couple and we barely saw them here. Noda and Miria are okay as side characters, albeit childish at times. Sadly, it seems like the next volume will focus on them and I not looking forward to it.

Again, this is my first manga series. I would say this was about a 3.5 for me, just like the rest.

Just like the rest of the series, this book is gorgeous! This books picks up right where the last left off with Yagyu meeting Satomi's family. I 100% understand her embarrassment and hesitations. Meeting the family is a big deal and some families have more personality than others LOL. But this interaction was SUPER cute!!

This book also gave us more on Noda and Miria's relationship. Much like Satomi, Miria likes Noda and wants to tell him but can't just come out and say it. We see the two dance around each other almost and it is kind of hilarious. They honestly act like an old married couple even though they haven't admitted any feelings yet. They are clearly perfect for each other but the banter between them shows a much different relationship than Yagyu and Satomi's.

Can't wait to see more of their story as the series continues.

It can be a bit sappy at times for me, but there are still those moments when I can't help but go 'awwwww' 😍

3.5✨

✨Writing a review for the whole series and copy/pasting. I read this a few months ago and don't remember specifics for every volume other than rating. Besides most volumes are kinda samey.✨

This was the first manga series I've ever picked up and finished. I was 23 when I read this and I feel like I was too old for it which is the first time I've thought this really for a YA book. (The joys of growing older 😭)

The romance is cutesy but that's the limit on my thoughts on it. The toxic masculinity is ripe with the MMC. Not a fan of the possessiveness or how cliché aspects of it were. But, it's not offensively bad. Just not for me.

Feel like this is more older middle grade/young YA.

2nd Read 2023:
Basically a marriage proposal from our original couple lol,
As for the new lovelies, both the fireworks scene and the music festival scene are absolute gold. I am obsessed with hate to love, and I adore how different the dynamic is between the two couples.

This book gonna focus more on our second not-yet-couple, Sonomura and Noda. I really like their dynamic, it's refreshing how Miria Sonomura can appear cute and lovely but turns cold and unenthusiastic towards Noda because he doesn't see her as cute and doesn't want him to find out that she likes him. But in way it let us see her real self, she doesn't afraid to speak up her mind and stand up for herself or someone she care about, she's a boss. I also really like how she's different than Satomi in their perspective and approach towards relationship, there's not just 1 right way to approach it there's many way to see & methods to approach that people can choose and hope it works because no case is exactly the same. I love that she doesn't go at the first chance she got to be in relationship even if it with someone she likes, she want him to feel the same way first before they get in relationship and she'll work for it, she's so cool.

We also get a little more info about Noda, about his past that may or may not make him who he is now and how he act when he's not with Yagyu and Satomi. He's not as icy as he is depicted before we have Miria, especially in this volume we'll see that he's actually observant and caring despite his laidback persona. They both have their own admirable traits, can't wait to see their development in the rest of the series.

Oh about our main couple, they're still going well and cute with each other. There's a scene where Yagyu meet Satomi's family where her parents welcome him right away. It's funny and heartwarming how Yagyu able to change Satomi's brother from against him to be his supporter.

A perfect happy ending to Satomi and Yagyu’s love story and a charming, funny start to Miria and Noda’s.

I loved seeing Yagyu interact with Satomi’s family - she’s so embarrassed by them, but he’s put instantly at ease by her dad wearing her apron and how welcoming they are. Even Satomi’s brother has a change of heart when he finds out he and Yagyu are super fans of the same band. Yagyu is open and honest with them, and Satomi loves his ideas for the future (family, kids, happy life), even if she doesn’t want her family to pressure her. I’m so glad they remain honest about the ways they are feeling, quick to communicate and apologize. I’m so glad the author didn’t manufacture drama to experience their story.

Now that those two are settled, we can move on to Miria and Noda. Clearly they are going to end up together, but I can’t wait to watch it happen. I’m glad Miria finally told Noda how she feels, and now the ball’s in his court. I think he likes her more than he will admit, and is defending himself with humor by constantly pretending like everything is a joke. That’s not going to fly with Miria forever, though, so I look forward to seeing what it takes to get Noda to open up.

The 6th volume and Yagyu meets Satomi's family (with lots of hilarity and a very embarrassed Satomi), summer break starts and the two are having all sorts of adventures (which we sadly don't see), but a bigger chunk of the book is about Noda and Miria. Which on the one hand I loved, but on the other hand I wanted more Yagyu and Satomi, that is the couple I came here for. XD But I still had fun reading and seeing Miria find out more about Noda, defend him when his ex makes remarks, have a good time at fireworks, and later a festival, and it was quite cute, though I am still not 100% a fan of Noda because of his attitude, sometimes a different Noda shines through and I want to see more of that one. Plus, I didn't like all the bickering they were doing. The confession was a bit silly and I didn't entirely like how Miria acted after it. Please, next volume be about our main couple again, please. I don't mind this couple, but I want the main couple.

Yagyu ends up staying overnight with Satomi's family after a storm rolls in, though fortunately he seems to be winning them all over. Even Satomi's brother who previously seemed terrified of him now seems convinced their best friends. Meanwhile, Miria continues to struggle with sharing her feelings. Noda doesn't seem to be as oblivious as he acts, thought it takes Miria losing her temper in a cat fight with Noda's ex before either of them really speak up about it at all. Miria really is rather contrary about the whole thing despite her desire to be with Noda at the end of it all. Fortunately, that doesn't seem to deter Noda, who follows up with from the fireworks show to the summer music festival. Turns out he does already like Miria, though she seems convinced it's not in the same or right way somehow.

It was hilarious seeing Yagyu meet Satomi's family, and sweet. The big brother was awesome and the parents were so lovely. Yagyu's dream was so heart warming and Satomi was so cute. Miria and Noda are so fun to read about, it is so interesting to see their relationship take place in this volume. It really kept the story fun and interesting, to learn more about Noda and his bad experience with his ex. The Festival scene was brilliant and so fun. For Miria to blurt out her feelings was so funny and interesting, Noda just needs a little more time. The music festival was so stunning and the growth in the relationship was brilliant and so well thought out. Can not wait to see what will be next, so excited. it was so enjoyable and worth the read.

This was very, very sweet and different for the series. For five volumes, we were introduced to and fell head over heels for Yagyu and Satomi and their romance. Now, in volume 6, Yagyu and Satomi are taking the back seat for Noda and Miria's relationship to develop.

I did like that the author made a tiny disclaimer as to why there is such a big shift in characters. It made it easier to follow along and not feel jolted by the change in plot lines.

Noda and Miria are completely different from Yagyu and Satomi. I love where their friendship and possible romance are going, and I'm excited to read more about them in volume 7.

(´꒳`)♡ the CUTEST side character arc I've ever read!! I love yagyu and satomi so much, they are so precious...miria and noda are adorable but in a completely different way. tempestuous and fiery, they fight and do small things to push each other away or hide their feelings, finally culminating in a fireworks scene confession. noda's lackluster and cocky response was about to make me SO upset, but it was followed by the sweetest music festival date and some truly thoughtful actions by him which showed how he really felt. I loved the ending too - miria's second confession and declaration that she'd make him fall/confess to her was perfect. I'm so excited to see how this plays out!!

Like others, I wasn't sure about starting a new character arc and shifting the focus off our mains, especially since I was only starting to feel connected to them in the last volume. BUT. Adding the new character Miria infused fresh life into this manga and added a group dynamic that I didn't even notice was missing until it appeared. While I feel bad for Nimo sitting on the side, Miria way definitely the way to go. This is the best volume, to me, and I feel like we learn so much about all of our couples in this one volume than we have in the previous 5 volumes combined. I didn't even like Noda before this and now I'm totally rooting for him and Miria.

Prompt: read a book you recently purchased

I'm so glad we got more focus on Miria this time around! Don't get me wrong, I love Satomi and Yagyu, but I feel like there's not much more that can be done with their relationship at this time. And while Miria and Noda don't have what I would consider a "healthy" relationship, I think they work well together and would make a great couple. Never thought I'd say that about Noda, but whatevs.

Another day, another great volume of Ima Koi. What more could I ask for?

I love Satomi and Yagyu - they’re like the perfect shoujo couple. This volume focuses on Noda and Miria (TBH I expected Noda to end up with Niimo until they introduced Miria in the last volume. He is playing it cool, but I think he likes her more than he lets on - he has been paying more attention to her tan she realized. I like that she’s holding out for more than his lame offer of a relationship. Now that she’s found the courage to confess, she’s surprisingly straightforward.

I admit my heart squee’d a little when the guys showed up at the festival in yukata 😍
