Yūki Tabata (Japanese: 田畠裕基, Hepburn: Tabata Yūki) is a Japanese manga artist.
After working as an assistant to Toshiaki Iwashiro, he created the one-shot Hungry Joker, which was later serialized as a full series. After its conclusion, he launched Black Clover.
This has been good. Black Clover's been kinda just going on auto pilot lately. It isn't bad, but I also don't think the status quo has changed in over a year. Yami was kidnapped in August... Of 2020. Let that sink in. And it's not slow in a way that's engaging and matters. It's slow in a fighting all the bad guys one by one way. From an objective standpoint, it's still good. But taking into account the weekly wait, I'm getting exhausted. In a vacuum, though, the volume is great. I just can't wait for this arc to be over.
This arc is really bringing me back into the story. I knew i would see it through to the end regardless it’s just nice to have some quality content as opposed to stagnation.
This one might be the best volume yet. Yuno completely stole the show this volume. There were so many great things about his fight with Zenon so I’ll name a few - 1) Star Magic is legitimately such an awesome power up. Not only is the panel so cool and I can reread it over and over but narratively it’s perfect. Yuno is the son of the King and Queen; who have sun and moon magic respectively, making Yuno’s star magic make perfect sense. Also, Yuno gaining two grimoires because of his homeland being the Clover Kingdom and lineage hailing from the Spade Kingdom makes for an extremely organic way to give him a much needed power up to content with Asta. 2) Zenon and Yuno are just two sides of the same coin. Both were seen as prodigies inspired by a happy-go-lucky rival. However, Zenon began to lose himself after taking his rivals life for the greater good. This spiraled him down a dark path and eventually, literally and metaphorically, making a deal with the devil. Yuno never did this though. He always stuck to his morals and grew alongside Asta. At first glance, Zenon and Yuno are identical, just Zenon is a product of circumstance unlike Yuno. The volume later proves how this is wrong, Yuno would never sacrifice his comrade and would always find another way. Even if it meant he had to surpass his limits further than ever before.
All of this was in tandem with a heartfelt moment between Finral and Langris. I would rate this volume a 6/5 if possible. Everything I could possible ask for in a Shonen fight sequence and more.

In defeating the last of the Dark Triad of the Spade Kingdom, our main character's main rival in achieving his life goal/dream essentially beats himself. (if i had a nickel for every time two boys made a vow to achieve the same dream, with one being a loudmouth with lighter hair and the other being a more sullen dark-haired boy, i'd have two nickels!) AND OF COURSE THAT BOY WHO IS SO BLESSED BY MAGIC GETS A 2ND POWER-UP THAT GIVES HIM THE EDGE!
BUT GUESS WHAT?! The Dark Triad had a secret FOURTH member and he made everything worse! So what does our intrepid guild of misfits do? FORM A BIG-ASS BULL MEGAZORD AND PUNCH THE UNHOLY-MASS-OF-DEMONS KAIJU IN THE FACE! ... Gorrammit, I love this series.
So we're having an emotion scene where Yami is flashing back to when he met & recruited each member of his brigade...and I have to burst out laughing cuz Charmy got suckered in by the ol' trail-of-food-leading-to-a-basket trap! As we never heard the story of how she joined the guild in the first place, THIS IS CANON!
Most of this volume is Yuno versus Zenon. Then we get everybody versus... Morris? I think that's his name.
Yuno just keeps getting power-ups, and it's kind of annoying. Dude is just such a boring character. This new wave of Sasuke-likes who are actually just infallible good guys. His descendants are Fushiguro Megumi and Hayakawa Aki. Well, not even; those guys at least face adversity.
Morris is contracted with Lucifero, whom we'd already seen through Dante. Feels a bit redundant. By the end of the volume, he does something similar to Ganishka from Berserk, so that's fun.
The writing here is... eh. But the action is good. Tabata's art seems to have blossomed all of a sudden.

Noelle bikini boobies on the cover of Chapter 305...!!! 🥵

rating of the last 3 volumes I read; Vol. #30: ★★★☆☆ (3) Vol. #31: ★★★☆☆ (3) Vol. #32: ★★★★☆ (4)
this feels wierd cause it seems like the final final battle but more thing keep coming up. I'm enjoying it but... starts feeling like it should wrap up asap before it gets old. Yuno likewtf he keeps getting more and more powerups. He's SOOOO blessed by mana
Can I give 100 stars? I would, if I could. Love that they're all back! And together. Loved the flashbacks. And Yuno was just wow. I did not expect that.
Overall, I would say I liked it and that I am pretty satisfied. The majority of this book is dedicated to the fight between Zenon and Yuno (along with some others like Langris). With Vanica and Megicula gone, the heroes focus on Zenon as the last member of the Triad. To be honest, Zenon's backstory was super cliche and did not interest me at all. The fight itself was fine but I was expecting Yuno to power up which did happen of course. The last few chapters were more interesting to me since it focuses on the Black Bulls and the legend himself; Yami. The series is about to be finished (1-2 or volumes I would assume).
DAMN! This story is so good! I hope the Black Triad stuff ends in the next Volume though... getting a bit drawn out. Highlights: - Rill, Charlotte, and Gadjah pass out after helping save Lolopechka. They are revived and healed by Mimosa, who joins the battle. - Yuno and Langris square off against Zenon Zogratis. Despite hating Yuno for passing him in ranking, he sees Yuno's power and defends him from Zenon, admitting Yuno deserves the title of Vice Captain. - As Yuno's spell penetrates Zenon's chest, we get a flashback seeing how he originally made the deal with Beelzebub. Because he had asked for a demon's heart, he is able to heal himself from the attack. - Finral joins Langris in the Mana Zone and they fight back, while also protecting Yuno as he recovers. - Yuno reconnects with his heritage, truly adopting his place as the Heir of House Grinberryall and gains a second grimoire, now able to use Star Magic, in addition to his Wind Magic. - Continuing to attack, Yuno reaches near 100% resonance with Wind Spirit Sylph and reaches Saint Stage, being able to finish off Zenon. - Moris, the magic scholar of the Diamond Kingdom, has bonded with Lucifero, after the demon left a defeated Dante Zogratis. As long as he has Yami and Vangeance, he will be able to continue to open levels of Hell. - Gauche, Grey, Gordon, Vanessa, and Henry arrives in the mech version of the Black Bulls House and work towards saving Captain Yami. - We get a flashback about Yami and his work before becoming a Captain. - Basically the entire house of the Black Bulls, along with several prominent magic users work together to fight Lucifero directly to save Yami.
Another amazing Volume. Definitely want to try to catch up on the anime now. Strong recommend.
The battle against Vanica is over but Charlotte, Rill, and Gaja are at death's door. But that's fine because we have another character who can fix it... This series has literally stacked the deck
Now on the the Zenon fight where... again MORE FLASHBACKS and other characters rushing in to save the day (not really) at the last minute. Not to mention Yuno's exponential power creep. Seriously, he's got a four leaf clover grimoire, he's a spirit host, he's the reincarnation of an elf prince, he's the long-lost prince of the Spade Kingdom, and now... Are you sure he's not the Wizard King already?
Then there's the weird jumble in the last three chapters where all the Black Bulls come to rescue Yami (flashbacks included of course) and end up punching a giant demon with the Mecha-Castle-Bull. It is glorious. It's these little moments (and my desire to actually 100% the series) that keep me reading.
This volume was good, but not amazing. The issue with this volume for me was that it showed us how Yuno struggles and as the author doesn't really focus on him and his development, i couldn't really empathise. Yuno is a great character but he has so much potential to be even greater and the author wasted that potential. Although it was saved for me since the relationship between the 2 other brothers fighting did make me feel a little emotional, the comparison of the demon's and Yuno's backstory also did make me shed a few tears. I do still recommend it but personally it's not the best of Black Clover.
Not for Yuno, who got his 17th power up and just became god.
But for Yami.
He swore to both Morgan and Nicht that his brigade, whatever it was, would be for the misfits, the lost, the unwanted, and those unloved by fate. In turn, he created a family not only for them, but for himself. The way he would die for them… and the way they would die for him… it makes me so sappy and brings me to tears. The love brought into those panels by the author was so great it was overwhelming. 10/10 Yami is now my favorite character (sorry Finral).
Some really good fights as we now see Yuno, Langris, and Finral all get a power up. I am not to sure how I feel about getting a backstory for Zeno as I feel the other members of the Dark Triad did not gte one and even the backstory of Zeno feels forced and does not get enough time to actually mean anything as they try to force a comparison between Zeno and Yuno but the fight is still really well done and how it ends is actually really cool. Twist about the doctor seems forced and just a way to pad out the story a bit more as it feels like the arc already reached a good climax.
While I have really been enjoying this arc, and it's great to see so many characters getting their time to shine, I can't help but notice how formulaic Black Clover is. It's not a bad thing per se, and I am a sucker for pure shounen series, but I'm hoping something shocking happens by the end of this arc to turn this series on its head.
I still love the panels showing all of the Black Bulls together racing to go save Yami. That made my heart twinge a bit.
I feel like I keep saying this, but these keep getting better! This was so epic! I didn’t breathe for half of this book, these devils stress me OUT. I love seeing all the characters (especially the Black Bulls) grow as people and with their powers. You never know when they reach their limit but I’m pretty sure that the whole point is that they don’t have any. I adore them all. Also, YAMIIIIIII OMG release my husband!
Action! Action! More Action! That's how I felt reading this volume of Black Clover. Great stuff and the story arc is engaging, even if it is moving (in the grand scheme of things) a tad slow. Now that is a shock coming from me as I felt this series started at a breakneck speed, but I figure Yuki Tabata is in it for the long haul and is slowing down the missions a bit. Still...very pleasing to both the eye and the character developments.
never in my life did i ever think i would rate a black clover volume five stars but this was so good… wtf… yuno!!!!!!! the pure emotion of it all!!!!! the parallels between zenon and yuno, gaja’s love confession, the way yami said he loved his squad… I’M KILLING MYSELF!!!!!! all the agonizing psychological torture of 170 anime episodes has finally paid off. we win

I actually really liked this volume…… more backstory on Yuno……. Although still have more questions than ever! The fight scenes were amazing and very intense. Finral and Langris having a brother bonding moment was everything!
The last chapter is Yami! I loved the build up of "give us back our captain." And his classic response of "you idiots." The reason he started the guild for the misfits, and ending up saving himself... 10/10.
