Susan Hunter is a happy introvert who lives with her husband Gary, an extreme extrovert, in rural Michigan.

She spent some years as a reporter and then as the managing editor of a small daily newspaper. From there Susan went on to work at a university in publications and marketing where she honed her skills at appearing engaged in academic meetings, while internally composing her grocery list. She also taught a few classes as well—in English composition, that is, not in faking your way through meetings.

In addition to writing the Leah Nash series, Susan enjoys reading other people’s writing, watching classic films, occasional walks and snarky conversation with old friends and family, eating chocolate chip cookies, and answering emails from her readers. Visit her website, susanhunterauthor.com

DANGEROUS GROUND (Leah Nash Mysteries Book #6) by Susan Hunter is another well written mystery addition to the Leah Nash series. Ms. Hunter not only gives the reader a twisted and clever mystery plot, but also entertaining and witty fully fleshed characters.

It is true crime author Leah Nash’s 15-year high school reunion and almost everyone is excited for the return of Ryan Mallory, the golden boy who made it in Hollywood.

But not Leah and not his killer.

Leah is once again embroiled in a mystery and looking for a killer.

Every time I return to Leah’s world, I know I am going to be entertained by her hard-headedness, snarky wit and all the well-developed secondary characters around her. Ms. Hunter’s mystery plot pulled me in and kept me engaged and guessing until the end.

I recommend this addition to the Leah Nash mystery series and once you read it, you are going to want to read them all.

Dangerous Ground is the sixth book in the Leah Nash Mysteries and one that I had been anticipating for a while now. I was excited to read this book and it was great reuniting with the characters from the previous books. Leah is one of my favorite characters and I like seeing her accept her flaws while trying to grow as a person. All of the characters in this book are very realistic, enjoyable, and multidimensional. I always love reading about Leah and her relationships with everyone involved in her life.

The mystery is this book kept me hooked and wanting to find out more. There were plenty of twists in this book to keep it interesting and I was not sure who the murderer was because there were several plausible suspects. Even looking back now at who the killer was still surprises me since it was not anyone I thought it would be. I love the mysteries that Leah faces in every book because they are rarely predictable and always keep me intrigued. I received this book as an advance review copy of this book at no cost.

Class reunions: stick a bunch of people together who once either hated, bullied, or dated one another, give them alcohol, and expect them to behave.

Dangerous Ground takes us to Leah’s 15-year reunion, and it’s not a pretty scene. Secrets spill. Tempers rage. Jealousy escalates. And someone winds up dead.

This mystery gives us plenty of suspects to sort through. One of my favorite things about this series is how realistic Leah’s investigations feel. I also appreciate that the police aren’t portrayed as idiots unable to solve a case without Leah’s help. Her work as a journalist and true crime writer, along with her long-standing relationships with the people in town, provide the perfect circumstances for her involvement.

Interspersed with the murder investigation, we have a fun mix of Leah’s personal life and a bit of relationship drama. I want to solve mysteries with Leah Nash, and I want a best friend like Miguel. Maybe I want to be Leah for a day or a week. Yes, I just admitted that I’d like to be a fictional character. Go ahead and judge me.

Dangerous Ground is the sixth Leah Nash Mystery. The story reads well as a stand-alone.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

Another enjoyable mystery featuring Leah Nash. What made it so enjoyable is the character of Leah. I like her snarky humor. I like that, even in the midst of her intense investigative ambitions, she has a compassionate side. She's a flawed character with a good heart and a strong desire to make things right.

Leah's character makes the plot. Even though it is a mystery, there is no murder until about a quarter of the way into the book. There are many suspects and I like how Leah goes after them all. She's persistent, even when running to judgment well before she has all the facts.

If you like a good mystery centered on a fully developed and entertaining character, this is a novel for you. I have been reading all the Leah Nash novels and have enjoyed following her journey in life. While this novel would stand alone, much happens in this novel with roots in previous novels so it would be good to have read them too. And I shouldn't forget Miguel's advice when contemplating a decision: WWLD. (You have to read the book.)

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Partners in Crime Virtual Book Tours. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book, and the plot had enough twists that it kept me guessing until the end. I would recommend it to anyone. It’s not always the most obvious motive..

I thoroughly enjoyed reading “Dangerous Ground!” It was well-written and very clever. There were a lot of likable characters, and some that you love to hate. I thought Leah and her mom were very witty with their sarcastic comments, and I loved their relationship. The twists and turns in the story kept me constantly on my toes, and turning the pages far into the night, trying to figure out along with Leah who the murderer was (which I never did, by the way). And what a surprise when it was revealed! I received an advanced copy of this book from the author (many thanks), I recommend it highly, and I will certainly be reading more of her books in the future.

In typical Leah Nash fashion, bodies abound at the high school reunion and it seems many people have a motive. I love Leah Nash's hard-headedness although at times she can be over the top annoying. Not in this story though. You can see her growth as a person and an investigator as the series goes on which makes this book the best in the series so far. There are so many plot twists. The likely suspect keeps changing as more bodies are found.

On a personal level, Leah is in a relationship with a lovely man but is terrified if she commits to him that he will let her down or leave her just like her sisters who both died and her father who left them. Her second book didn't sell well and she has a lot of stress in publishing land. Things aren't going well for her best friend either. There could be big changes in the future for them both.

This was an thoroughly enjoyable read. I highly recommend it.

Susan Hunter has crafted a thriller of a detective story that will keep you guessing right along with her heroine, Leah Nash. What sets this book apart from many mysteries, though, is her attention to detail. We get to know our characters well long before the crime that sets the plot into motion - a treat that makes us more invested in the outcome. There are suspects aplenty, and Leah takes us on several logical paths that may or may not be right, before the truth comes out of left field. What I really loved were the little pieces of description that make the characters come alive - I laughed out loud when she describes Leah Nash’s pleasure at drinking a Coke from McDonalds - it’s the kind of little detail that sets a really talented writer apart from the crowd. Susan Hunter and Leah Nash are two of my new favorites.

Leah Nash. There are times she makes me feel like a competent adult. Then she turns around and makes me feel as if I’m just bungling through life.
Sometimes she has it all together during her investigations. Then there are times she’s really out in left field.
I figured out who was the murderer before Leah — at least three different times. I was wrong every time.
Leah eventually figured it out. I never did.
Thank you, Ms Hunter. How soon can you get the next Leah Nash book out for us? Maybe next week? Well, how about next month? You left me with some things to mull over until I can read what comes next.

I just can not get enough of Leah Nash! I could hardly contain myself until this book came out. I devoured this story in just 2 days...only because work got in the way or else it would have been one. Being from a small town myself, I totally understood how the people are. This story started out with a high school reunion and Ryan Malloy, a small-town boy who is now a star. But Leah and other people really don't remember him. Then he is murdered. What is going on here? A lovely twisted tale with some great characters that will have you hooked into Susan Hunter's books!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A fun read that kept me guessing until the very end. Great characters with personalities that are easy to relate to. I have read several of her books and have enjoyed each and every one of them.. I look forward to more in this series.

Susan Hunter understands that you do not need four letter words every other page. Bad language does not enhance the story.

This was my first Leah Nash Mystery story, and I was struck by how it felt like a Nancy Drew story that was written for adult readers. With the well-developed characters and the numerous misdirection cues I was still trying to figure out who the murderer was until they were exposed. I really enjoyed the pace of the action and the interpersonal relationships woven throughout the story. As I find time, the earlier Leah Nash stories will be in my TBR list. I received an Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.

I enjoyed it. A murder mystery with so many twists and turns that you won't expect the explosive ending. Leah Nash is an amateur sleuth who helps find killers that the police can't seem to. I received this bok as an ARC and this is my honest review.

Leah Nash and her classmates are gearing up for their high school reunion but old grudges are quick to ignite and Leah is once again in the middle of murder.

This started out a bit slow but rapidly picked up the pace as the mystery was pieced together and revealed. I really enjoyed how it all came together and how neatly all the parts fit. I guessed some of it but not all. I was surprised by Allie On the other hand while I felt there was something off about I liked it a lot. It was very cleverly plotted.

Leah was her usual mix of frustrating, funny and fabulous. I love her friendship with Miguel. Miguel is a total sweetie and her biggest supporter and I'm here for it. Even if Leah drives me insane at points. I still don't get whatever weird relationship is going on with Leah and Coop. Gabe is okay but kind of an ass in this one. I adore Allie and Charlie Ross. Ross really is the best father. He's so supportive and encouraging and I love it. Plus his frenemies relationship with Leah is hysterical.

And Cole Granger makes a return! I love Cole. It was pretty funny when Leah find that he's the

I thought Erin Harper was alright in the last few books but she's not very nice in this one. It'll be interesting to see how Leah and Coop get on if he gets

Well written story with a cleverly plotted mystery. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Narcissist actor wannabe Ryan, a former boyfriend of Leah Nash, is found slain after attending a 15-year high school reunion in small town Wisconsin. This is the sixth book of Susan Hunter's crime thriller series featuring a strong and independent female main character. It can be read as a standalone but you'll miss some of the rich background and depth of the characters. Ryan's dying mother talks Leah into another rogue investigation to find out who really killed him. How Leah finds time to do this in addition to running a failing newspaper and resurrecting her flagging career as a true crime novelist, one can only wonder. Never one to shy away from a task, Leah charges right in, getting in people's faces and demanding answers to difficult questions. Leah works with defense attorney Gabe in an effort to clear his client James, the top suspect in Ryan's murder. James lost his leg in a boyhood boating accident and blamed Ryan, driver of the boat. Leah's relationship with Gabe becomes more complicated as they reach a crossroads. One-time enemy Ross, a cop, grows closer to Leah, who befriends and mentors Ross' daughter, Allie, a cub reporter. There are plenty of twists, turns and surprises as Leah sifts through her list of possible suspects. The body count grows as does the danger on the way to a satisfying conclusion.

This sixth instalment of the Leah Nash series centres around the return to Himmel, Wisconsin of Leah's first boyfriend, now a struggling Hollywood actor with some major secrets that, as ever in Himmel, don't stay secret for long, and prove to be fatal. Despite disappointed sales of her second book leading to greater pressure to deliver a third, and an online tabloid rival threatening her beloved Himmel Times newspaper, Leah is soon working to clear the name of the prime suspect. The plot also sees the return of the regular characters, and an interesting change in the dynamics of her relationship with Detective Ross. Some of the descriptions of Himmel are so interwoven that I'm sure if I happened to be transported there I'd be able to find my way around! All told, another engrossing addition to an always excellent series.

Leah Nash is a no-nonsense woman with a strong drive to make sure the actual culprit is charged with murder instead of the most obvious fall guy. Her background in journalism makes her a skilled investigator and she’s not shy about asking questions. As she learns more about Ryan, a surprisingly wide range of persons with a motive for murder emerge.
Leah’s personality shines through in this first-person narrative – including her doubts about herself. The plot twists kept me wondering, and the final resolution was pretty much a surprise. A well-written, fast-paced, and enjoyable read.

Slow start but once it got going it was engaging

It took me a couple of days to get drawn in, i was wondering if I was upto making it to the end. I was simply wanting the murder to happen but once it did I was able to keep reading. There are numerous characters many returning and the ones just central to the current story. I’m always disappointed when reading a series and come to the point where I have to wait for the next release. But I’ll continue reading the Leah Nash series.

I Love the Leah Nash Murder Series

I Love the Leah Nash Murder Series and book #6 did not disappoint! Leah Nash is addicted to murder mysteries and tends to dig into each story until she find the answers that she is looking for to solve a case. She is funny and gets herself into a lot of messes as she pursues the truth behind any murder and she will not quit until the murder is solved! Her friends and mom are great supporting characters that make the storyline flow really well. I would highly recommend the entire series! I can not wait to read book #7.

Great reading

I've read 6 of her book's so far. She.is a great writer, her writing is so smooth. She speaks in her book's like my inner voice thinks. She has a wonderful way of folding small moments said earlier.into a clue later in the book. It's just different in a way I really can't explain other than I like.it. All books so far have been exciting, interesting and makes each one a page turner.

Hooked

The Leah Nash books kept my attention like few others. The constant twists and turns kept me totally engaged. I even did some “sneak reading” at work a time or two. I have shared my enjoyment with my colleagues, friends and family hoping they would also enjoy them as much as I have.

Another engaging story of whodunit. And, so many victims and potential killers! Great new bunch of characters in this one. Fast and quick read! Oh my, still have several more books in the series. But, what am I going to do when I get caught up with the last title. How long before Hunter writes the next one!

I took a break from this series and decided to get back to it, and I'm glad I did! I really enjoy Leah and the great cast of characters. And I thought the story and the twists and turns were really good. A few I predicted and towards the end there were some that I didn't! I look forward to things in the next book and how certain situations will unfold!
