All L.J. wanted to do was deposit the day's receipts in the bank, go home, and have a movie night with Kyle. Was that too much to ask for?But moments after entering the bank, they are caught up in a bank heist with a couple of novice robbers. To add insult to injury, the dead grandmother of the robbers, Grammy Anderson, appears to L.J. and instructs her to stop her no-account grandsons from ruining their lives. L.J. complies and gets caught up in another twist in the ever-growing tangle of corruption and death called the Sons of Mississippi.

Another excellent installment in the Shear Disaster series. As with all of Teri Reid’s books, I couldn’t put this one down. L.J & Kyle are so funny together and in this book the whole crew from the beauty shop joined the action. I can’t wait to read the next book!!
Another fantastic thread in the Terri Reid tapestry! Terri does an amazing job of weaving the characters together with such detail that it is easy to visualize every scene. Such a talented author! (I loved the little nod to the Mary O’Reilly series in the beginning.)
Couldn't wait to devour Terri's latest book! She didn't disappoint!! A master at creating the perfect mix of humor, romance, mystery and suspense! I love all the wonderful characters and personalities in this series!
I blame Terri for all the lost sleep as I finished book four of the series. The characters are very believable and you are rooting for them as L. J. tries to solve her mother's murder. I hate to leave this world and return to my own. There has to be a book 5, the story isn't finished yet.
This is a very good story, well written, easy to follow but with lots of layers. The characters are memorable. You don't always know who the bad guys are, but the ones you find are very complex.
But one of my favorite things about this story was not the story. There are two very wise, very brilliantly composed, descriptions in this book which i will use often.
One compared a well worn heart to well worn hands, encouraging the heroine that the joys and pains of love will affect the heart the way satisfying work affects the hands.
The other described life as a train station where people get on and off, so sometimes they are riding together but they have their own stations to go through, and will see the best sights for them on their trains.
These characters are like visiting with your distant family members or friends you haven’t see in a while. You just pick up right where you left off. You can imagine yourself at her salon listening to the women as they gossip about their family and neighbors. I found Miss Effie to be particularly sagacious. LJ and her friends are still trying to figure out a way to bring the Sons of Mississippi to justice. They must be getting close because people are still being murdered and once again LJ looses someone close to here. She has had way too many brushes with death but she refuses to quit. I eagerly await the next in the series. I love Ms Reid’s story telling so much I actually buy her books instead of using kindle unlimited.
I loved it until the very end… I’m giving 5 stars because the story was amazing and even though the very end turned my stomach I seriously loved it right up until then. Sorry I wish I could say something positive about that ending but it just felt so wrong and even though I’m presuming it will be turned around with where LJ and Van are in their relationship this new wrinkle and the way it happened felt really wrong and now I can’t focus on anything else which is sad because the story on a whole was highly entertaining.
Such a great series, I don't mean to rush you but, I need to either read the next Mary O'Reilly or the next Shear Disaster Mystery! They are both fantastic series and I can't get enough of them. Thank you for such great characters.
