I just had to read this book in one sitting, it was so enthralling. A young couple, very much in love, engage in their first sexual encounter. The girl becomes pregnant and the boy disappears. His heart really did remain in the right place but, fate took a guiding hand and led him far away from his pregnant girlfriend. Strangely enough he had no idea that she was expecting his baby. While the baby grows to adulthood and becomes a respected schoolteacher the boy travels down a very dark and violent path. This was an excellent serial killer story with a very unexpected ending. Well done Amy Cross. Highly recommended!
Something was stirring in her now, something that had remained hidden for so very long, something that she'd believed – foolishly, as it turned out – was long gone. Something that she now realized was part of her, passed down through her blood. She already knew that there was no point fighting something that was so clearly part of her nature.
This was so different than the same take on this serial killer books. I felt like I couldn't figure things out which just made it better. It's like a twisted Stephen King and Dexter combo. It was the only excellent I might ever given. The fact I even sympathized with the main characters ( not at first) is mind-blowing. My compliments on an amazingly well written book. What an imagination to have that ability. Crazy twists I enjoyed immensely. Bravo, Amy Cross
Harry Stone is deadbeat who has only ever loved one woman. He picks his victims in a random manner and never aroused any suspicion. His world is turned into turmoil following his abduction of Daisy Coulson. I will not reveal any more of the plotline, which is both shocking and surreal. A page turner and engrossing read.
Without a doubt, this is one of the worst books I've read in a long time. No likeable characters, no sense to the storyline & no flow to the writing. The descriptions of injuries make no sense, a modicum of common sense would tell a person that open wounds with bones sticking out cannot be walked on & that even after you've had a mysterious operation for this injury that is 'luckily not fractured', you will at the least need crutches. A prize boxer could not absorb the sheer number of head traumas and an ambulance would not leave an injured kidnap victim in the back of a police van to prioritize a dead body. I am very pleased that I did not pay for this book Thank you Bookbub.

When you’re just mucking around England doing your favorite wholesome male activity, kidnapping more women to m*rder, and turns out this new one is your daughter 😲 well then you just gotta go on a bloody spree involving forest chases, inquisitive cops, your long-lost ex, and lots of moaning about how you’re not a monster while indeed being very much a monster 😬
Pretty cool thriller, if a little repetitive till it gets to the last 20% and the twists come one after the other. We ponder the classic question: is evil bound up within a person by nature or nurture?
It was a wee bit slow to start, once it got going though it really didn't let up. Lots of back story which filled in a lot of gaps as to why certain things were happening and why the person went down that road. Daisy is a force to be reckoned with be it good or bad. You might not want her in your corner unless your her mum.
The premise is decent enough but the execution is poor. Not a single likeable character; even the minor ones all have a nasty streak. The police are so stupid it makes you cringe! The twists are predictable too. This could have been a good book with a bit more thought and care.
Really good plot line with a few surprises thrown in. Would have given 5 stars if it hadn't been for some writing errors. Really needs to be proof read more thoroughly
I LOVED this book until the very end. The plot twist is a bit… silly… in my opinion. But the rest of the book was fast paced and engaging. I found I couldn’t put it down!
