Finley #4

Fortius

Rate this book
I've hunted sexual predators, serial offenders, and brought down a cult. This time I might be in over my head.

A serial killer who knows no boundaries, not in his depravity, or geographically. Four victims. Three cities. Different countries. And that's just the beginning, or is it?

What starts as a serial murder investigation soon takes a far more sinister turn. An unspeakable crime is being covered up, and it's up to us to find the truth. The only way to do it – my way. Equal parts profiler and vigilante, but I no longer hunt alone. Aidan's in this fight with me, as my husband and boss.

With countless lives at stake, nothing will stop us from protecting the innocent. Even if the killer lives in the public eye. No one is untouchable...

Action and adventure, loyalty and mistrust. Whose side is anyone on? The adventure continues full force as the Finley series is closed. It seems weird knowing there isn’t a next book. I enjoyed this last one in a different way than the others. The first three were like mad dashes to finish them and this final one was slightly less rushed. The story was more about the crime and less about the main characters. It gave a glimpse into Finley’s future. The best part is that if the author ever decides to revisit and add to the series, it’s totally doable. (Wishful thinking on my part?)

Just another great addition to the Finley series. Perfect amount of dark creativity. Loved that Finley got to play on the world stage and got to see new sides to her character development. Highly recommend!

Finley is back!!!

…and she is even more lethal and predatory than ever before, and a good job too as the case that faces our notorious vigilante is one that will take her to the deepest and darkest corners of her volatile mind.

My goodness, this book packs a punch, Whitcomb is a master of darkly twisting, suspense-filled, fast-paced, blood-soaked thrillers. I have been a fan of the Finley series since day one, I was hooked by the damaged fragility and ruthless nature of Finley, how she fights for justice when others give up. She walks far too close to the edge for comfort and her deadly and brutal mind takes not just her but us the readers on a twisty path of brutal vengeance and justice.

Fortius is the fourth book in the incredible Finley series, if you haven’t joined the juggernaut that is Finley yet then you have been, missing out. You can read them as a stand-alone, but I would recommend you read them in order, only then will you fully understand who Finley is how this extraordinary journey has crafted her into the strong and determined woman she now is.

In the last book, we saw Finley pregnant and looking into a crime which treaded far too close for comfort for her, this one is a year (or so) later she, her husband Aidan have a gorgeous little daughter Ainsley, together along with Aidan’s brother’s Liam and Rowan are heading up Fortius an elite group of trained killers out to stop and seek vengeance without much mercy on serial killers.

This time around Finley comes up against a true spawn of the devil, an evil, narcissistic, shockingly brutally, blood-thirsty and horrific killer that has never seen the light of day. This creature is a creature of death, of darkness and gory. He/she kills in the most brutal of ways that even gives our equally darkened soul; Finley pause for thought. She must all her skills to hunt down him/her down before it’s too late, but with the killer not sticking to any regular rules, they don’t stay in one place, choose their victims at random and not to mention are constantly on the move around the world this case is getting complicated before they’ve even started.

Like Aiden, we see Finley in a whole new light in this one, avid readers have always known how dark her kind can go and how she transforms herself into the avenging angel while hunting, but Aidan has rarely seen this side to his wife. But, we also see just how far Finley will go for retribution, her ways of dealing with those who get in the way are shocking, yet there is another layer to her that wasn’t present in the previous books and that is the fact that in this one she is a mother, she has gained a lot of maternal conflicting layers to her which adds to her already complex character. Now we have a predatory huntress, a ruthless she-wolf who will protect her cub with every fibre in her body and that makes her all the deadlier.

As well as the amounting body count, Finley also has to deal with very normal problems which every new mother does; she needs to go back to work, she is lost without the hunt and she is getting itchy feet for another case. Yet she is conflicted as to whether she is doing the right thing in leaving Ainsley. Then we have the scorching hot love between her and Aidan, by Gawd how much do I love that man!!!

Fortius is not for the faint-hearted I was caught out a few times when my eyes widened so far I’m surprised one didn’t pop out. Yet this book (like the others in the series) is just too damn addictive to put down, it will take you to the deepest corners of your own mind. It’s mesmerizingly thrilling, a definite must-read for any thriller fans who love a she-wolf heroine.

Just when you thought Finley’s mind couldn’t get any darker, we have Fortius, book 4 in the #Finley series. Together with her husband Aidan Walker, plus his brothers Rowan and Liam, Finley is on the hunt for the most depraved serial killer she has ever come across. This one has no boundaries – his (or her) victims are killed in horrific ways and in different parts of the world. But how many victims are there and is he/she working alone?

Finley and Aidan’s daughter Ainsley is a year old, but they must leave her with Aidan’s mum and dad – Heather and Ryan – while they fly round the world looking for clues to the identity of the killer. He’s obviously someone wealthy as overseas travel is no problem, but is he hiding in plain sight or is he being protected by others?

As the body count rises and the killings become more gruesome – and I include Finley’s thirst for revenge and punishment for the victims in this – we know we are getting close. But on the way Finley must dispatch those that provided the victims, as they are just as much to blame, plus the paedophiles and rapists she uncovers during the investigation. I really had to concentrate to work out the connections. And I’m still reeling from one of her forms of punishment (the Vikings had a lot to answer for).

So who is the serial killer? Well you’ll have to read Fortius to find out. All I’m saying is ‘Jack The Ripper’ and no-one is above the law, but with Finlay and co in charge we know that they won’t get away with it.

Finley is back in the final installment of this series. She's evolving, now as a mother, but she still has that desire/need to hunt the predators. She must continue to fight for those who can't fight for themselves, to provide justice for those who have died at the hands of some of the world's most awful villains.
She's now fighting alongside the entire Walker family to catch a serial killer. Finnley will stop at nothing to get the job done. That's what I love about this character. She's bold, brave, witty, and always gets what she wants. She doesn't take no for an answer!
I'm sad to see this series end! If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend this series to those who enjoy dark psychological thrillers with a strong female lead!
A five-star series for me!

This was an action-packed page turner. What a thrilling read. It had it all: mystery, suspense, murder by a serial killer and a kick butt investigation team. I would recommend this book to all who love twisty turns murder mysteries.

Thanks so much for an advance review copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review of my personal opinion.

In this novel where Finley joins her husband, his family and fellow operatives in the next chapter of her life at Fortius, the author doesn't shy away from sensitive real life happenings, although this book is fictional.
This book keeps you intrigued from beginning to end with awesome plots and twists with attention to detail.
Definitely a book not to be missed.

Okay, so it's definitely a MUST READ!
This book was everything I needed, I loved how it has all you need, from ex military, to special ops, to traveling around the world and the twists and turn this book takes, I loved how this was a family operation and you got to learn more about Fortius and the dynamics of the operation. Having Ro and Liam involved made it so much better because I enjoyed the banter between Ro and Fin. There's so much love there, and I ate it up!

This book was just a perfect ending to the Finley series. These books have everything and more. There's a little splash of romance and enough suspense to keep you on your toes and at the edge of your seat! These books address real-life issues and show that not all damsels need rescuing, I mean, just look at Finley, bad ass to the core while being a mother and a wife. She definitely turned it up a notch in this book, though, so I wouldn't want to get on Fins' bad side!

The characters, especially Finley, have evolved so much since the 1st book. It's action-packed and has everything you want in a story that is filled with so many twists and turns.

My only flaws with this book are how many secual innuendo there were and the secual banter between Aidan and Fin. It did make me roll my eyes a couple of times (sorry) 🙈

Overview: This is the fourth and last book in the Finley series and boy does it go out with a bang! I've read this series from the beginning and have always rooted for Finley. She is the toughest woman out there and now she's a mother so is the ultimate protector. She turned it up a notch in this book though! Rust me...you wouldn't want to get on her bad side!

Good points: The plot was really clear and laid out in this book with short, snappy chapters. I enjoyed learning more about Fortius, basically a family-led, super team hell-bent on hunting serial rapists and paedophiles. The inclusion of new characters brought a new dynamic to the team, but not always for the best as you'll learn. A satisfying ending with all plot points finalised.

Not so good points: Okay, so this was a 5 star read for me, but I have a tiny gripe...the constant sexual innuendos, banter and lovey dovey stuff between Finley and Aidan. Yes, they're married, but I did roll my eyes a few times (sorry Mariëtte!) 🤣

A perfect psychological thriller series. Go and buy all 4 of them now! (Orca, Deception, Binding Lies and Fortius).

Excellant Reads

Just finished book 4 (all 4 of them) and while Id say this is not my normal read, I enjoyed them so much, Im looking for book 5. Finley and Adrian are so good together, love but not mush, sex, but not too descriptive, and over the top excitement. Great reading.

Finley is back in Book 4 of the Finley series and she's kicking ass and taking names. Serial killers can run, but they can't hide from Finley's dark side. The side that will do anything to always protect the innocent. It's time to play!

It's a glorious sight, the moment a predator realizes they are now the prey.

Finley has a new team to help her find the most depraved of serial killers. Her husband Aidan and family have the manpower and means to track down and destroy the very scum she has been hunting for years on her own. But now as a mother, she is more determined to get justice for the victims who are spread out all over the world. Who is the killer? Is there more than one? What is the pattern?

As one who has read the series from the beginning, Finley's past is a horrific mess and it is so beautiful to see her bond with Aidan, her daughter, Ainsley, and Aidan's lovely family. The verbal foreplay between Finley and Aidan is sexy and enviable. Finley is in her element in the field. Her dark humor and passion for her mission are a sight to see as she goes down the rabbit hole of depravity and immorality with a vicious international killer. But this time, she's not alone. This time, her family has her back.

I love Aidan's family. Ainsley is in good hands with her grandparents and Finley is in good hands with Aidan and his brothers, Rowan and Liam. Finley's way of mediating between the brothers is honest and sometimes merciless, but she earns the respect she deserves. They all make a great team.

The killings are brutal and the vengeance is sweet in yet another superbly written suspense thriller by Ms. Whitcomb. If you like intrigue, cunning characters, and a plot full of twists and turns, give his book a try. Highly recommend.

Thank you to Ms. Whitcomb for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Finley, Finley, Finley...my what big teeth you have!

Fortius , the fourth installment of the Finley series, takes us on another wild ride through the eyes of Finley Williams-Walker. She and the rest of the Walkers make up Fortius, an elite tactical team out to catch a serial killer. And nothing weighs heavier on Finley's mind than seeking justice for the victims. She's out for vengeance; taking the law into her own hands, and leaving no room for mercy.

Whitcomb's attention to detail and ability to weave such intricate storylines never ceases to amaze me. There was a lot going on in this one, but it was so well done and tied up nicely in the end. Fans of this series won't be disappointed!

This was a novel I couldn't put down, I took my time to take in every essence written throughout the storyline - Brilliant!

Impeccable writing as always and the journey the storyline takes your imagination on, is MOST DEFINITELY a journey you will not forget - ever.
The plots and twists are captivating extremely well written and gives one the sense that "buckle up buttercup, you are in for a mesmerizing ride" is the feeling you experience with this novel.

The strong message that runs throughout the novel is something one can relate to, its strong, its passionate, its memorable, its relatable but most of all its the unspoken truths of life and what is happening around us.

The journey with Fortius is ELECTRIC and the ADVENTURE is PRICELESS!

There is nothing Finley Williams-Walker won't tackle. In the fourth installment in this series, Fortius takes us on a world-wide adventure to take down a serial killer who knows no bounds. With the love of her daughter and children around the world, Finley works alongside the Walker brothers and their doodads and thingies to find the person(s) in power who are behind these aggressive crimes.

As always, I adore Finley. She's the perfect combination of bloodthirsty fierceness and charming quirkiness. I'll forever be glad to have her on the side of setting things right and giving victims a voice.
