Here’s the good news: Static knows where the government is imprisoning the Bang Babies it’s rounded up off the streets of Dakota. Here’s the bad news: once he’s inside, he may not be getting out!
The vernacular used is veryyy stereotypical 1980's New York, when trying to be ‘hip’ & ‘modern’ but just comes across as someone out of their depth when writing for a younger generation. It's very Jody Houser/Brian Bendis levels of cringe IMO. And apparently everyone in the Dakotaverse talks all “Yo homeslice, yo mamma” and everyone's treated like a racial parody from Family Guy.
Don't get me wrong, the series has actually been pretty decent, but this issue's writing was pretty horrendous in the words department.
We see more powers and they bring characters directly from the cartoon in style into the comic as not only a fantastic throwback but in a way that still fits this new direction.
I was prepared to not like this reimagining of Static. So far they've made me a fan. The mix of old and new is great. Is that Ebon's gang from the cartoon?
