I've not been writing many reviews lately. I feel like I've run out of new things to say.
However, I felt an urge to say a few words about Vessels.

7 years ago, almost to the day, I had the huge honour of reading book 1, Vessel, before general release.
I have patiently been waiting for this release, knowing John is a slow writer who has a busy life away from authordom. But boy, this was a lifetime's worth of wait!!

And it was blooming well worth it!

Bravo John! Keep them coming...although I'm not sure I can cope with another 7 years!

Synopsis

Eight years after the events of Vessel, the guardians of an ancient treasure are living in New York.
Secrecy has long served as their protection, but in an increasingly connected, technological world, remaining hidden is not as easy as once it was.
Someone knows what they have, and means to take it from them.
Present and ancient past are set to collide, and prove that not all myths are fantasy, and not all legends are lies....

While this is book 2 in the series I feel it could be read and understood as a stand-alone
It’s so so lovely to catch up and spend time with the characters again
The book moved at lightning speed full of action and top class adventure I was totally hooked to find out what would happen next
The story feels well researched and detailed I loved the fantasy aspects
I would love to see this ultimately made into a movie I hope there will be more …..

I was so pleased to meet up with Gabe, Holly and Jin again. I didn't realise how much I'd missed them. Although this is book 2, there is no problem reading it as a standalone. The story is detailed and obviously thoroughly well researched. The fantasy aspects are totally credible and I loved every idea. I felt completely invested in the characters and their stories and the introduction of Atana to make the trio and foursome was superb. This would transfer so well to the silver screen. A beautifully written, lavish tale which totally captured my head and my heart. A must read

Fast paced

Barely a moment of rest as Holly, Gabe and Jin battle mercenaries bent on stealing the grail. A stroke of luck that someone else had been watching and assisted them in ridding the mercs from their home. Arabs became one of their merry trio. As the four try to stop a millionaire from retrieving all the vessels Atana tells them as much as she can remember about her life. Lots of action, great companionship, evil villains, just really a great read. I hope I can run into them again before a few thousand years. (Hint, hint) Great job. Thank you.

This is a sequel to Vessel, but I think it stands well alone. It’s a fast-action, high adventure speculative novel and I enjoyed it very much. I especially loved the tech-billionaire with his money-no-object secret labs. It cleverly weaves ancient legends with the modern world and up-to-date technology to give a well-structured story. There’s thriller, crime on a huge scale, a good deal of speculation. It’s a book that defies the genre boundaries. An excellent story.

This action-packed story is full of well-developed characters. The story speeds along and keeps the reader on the edge of their set, I opted for the audiobook on this one and found that I had to pay closer attention than usual because I was missing out on the action! Great narration aids in keeping the list of characters straight. I did not realize until I came to review that I had selected a sequel, so obviously this is a good stand alone!

Exceeded expectations

I thought this was going to be another Templar conspiracy book and I couldn't have been more wrong. The first book was a good set up and the second moved on quickly to a very satisfying twisty finale. At first, I liked that it was only a two book series. Now I want more!!

Excellent follow up to the first book. Well worth the wait!

Jin, Holly and Gabe are the only protectors of the magical devices that have them immortality, superhuman healing powers. Or are they? What follows is a fast paced action packed plot to get these devices back from those who stole them and hide them forever.

amazing

The story is just fluid. It starts right in from book one and weaves a tale so great you can’t stop reading. The story seems so plausible you have to wonder. Exceptional characters and momentous ride to the end, neatly wrapped not leaving you wondering or wanting more. It’s just perfect. Bowens skills as a writer are epic. Thank you for the sequel!

Vessel was very good, and the follow-up, Vessels excellent as the author wraps up the storyline in a satisfying fashion. Character depth is not extensive, but certainly consistent with who they're supposed to be. This is pretty much wall-to-wall action, so the books are engaging throughout.

Definitely worth my time to read.

I could see making a movie of this series.

Very good sequel

Read The first book when it first came out. I did wonder if this sequel would make sense, or, if I would have to read the first one again. Didn't need too, all made sense, the book does g o over previous events. Good story. Great new character.

Intriguing read

I enjoyed a different type of archeological genre as this. The concept of previous sophisticated civilization has been uncovered all over the world. But I did find the firefight scene s to be overdone. An easy and entertaining read.

Science fiction and History all in one.

I can't tell you what it's about. It would give to much away. Both books are very well written. Twists and turns all the way. Great detail in history mixed with sci-fi.

Highly unusual premise. Unpredictable plot twists. Lots of action and hand to hand combat.

Great dialog and I thoroughly enjoyed both books.

vessels

I liked this book, for the adventure, and to see what happened next. I’m glad the story was ended on a good note, and not a cliffhanger, dragging on and on.
