With Chill Factor, you get 4 romantic suspense, holiday novellas. I'm reading this particular anthology because of Freya Barker. She's a must read for me and she did not disappoint with this new novella, Snowbound. I love that Dag had to work so hard to hide his attraction to Bobbie and I loved Bobbie's fire. They are an older couple that has lived life and it was great to see them get a happily ever after...after all that exciting suspense and danger passes. The other three authors are new to me and a pleasure to get to know. I felt like each of these novellas were unique on their own and made for a fun, suspenseful read.

Cabin Fever by Anna Bishop Barker:

description

This was quite a suspenseful read filled with all the things I love in a full length novel. Lucy and Dax have known each other for months and have been doing a slow dance around their feelings. Their already established relationship helped to make this believable.

The layout of this story kept me engaged as it slowly reveals first one thing and then switching gears to reveal something different. I enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t all laid out by the author but instead allowed the characters to give it to me.

My first by this author but I’ll definitely be looking for more!

Snowbound by Freya Barker:

Wow! Talk about original drama! Dag and Bobbie face a problem I’ve never read about before. I loved how it brought these two individuals together and finally acting on the attraction they’d been denying.

Not only did the danger and drama capture my attention and keep it, the evolving relationship between this couple had me loving everything about them. This author always manages to create believable characters and with the addition of family as well as the struggle to get back to each other, I found this to be an exceptional novella!

I loved this so much, I want more!!!

Honeymoon on Ice by Taryn Bradley:

20 Perfect Homes We'd Love to Spend a Snow Day Inside | Aspen house, Stone mansion, Winter house

Lots of undercover fun! This is my first introduction to Riley and Dani whose honeymoon has been interrupted by their job - stopping terrorists. They’re determined to enjoy this third attempt at a honeymoon and with lots of fun in their rented mountain chateau as well as the hot tub, they seem to be achieving that effort.

Until a natural disaster (connected with the previous story) brings their job to the front door. From that point on there was lots of intrigue and outsmarting the bad guys. This had bits of humor interlaced throughout which I loved when combined with the danger and drama. It felt like this was written with characters that have already had their story but written in a way that I wasn’t lost.

A thrilling romantic suspense!

Mistletoe Protector by Maddie Wade:

This was a sweet, second chance story with a bit of a mystery as well as danger. Nix and Rafe had a rough history due to a secret Nix has been harboring for years. The revelation of that secret had me filled with anticipation. The mystery wasn’t too mysterious, but when you add a natural disaster to it, the suspense is certainly ramped up.

Chill Factor is an anthology filled to the brim with spine-chilling suspense, explosive chemistry and enough heat to keep you warm through the blizzard that connects these four shorts from four FABULOUS authors!

I absolutely LOVED these stories set in the St. James Inn in Aspen, Colorado! The ONLY thing I didn't like? It left me wanting SO. MUCH. MORE!!! I have read and ADORED everything Freya Barker has written (or WILL write!), but this is my first read from the other three authors; Anna Bishop Barker, Taryn Bradley and Maddie Wade...but if this is any example of what they have to offer, I think I've discovered three more MUST READ authors!

High on the mountains in Aspen Colorado is the quintessential St. James Cabin which is the getaway ski resort during the holidays. But in true edge of your seat fashion the four authors combine their works into one book that will give the reader tons of heart stopping action while intertwined with wonderful romance. Filled with terrorists, espionage, steam between the sheets and an avalanche as well as a perfect blizzard all four stories will keep the reader entertained. Between reuniting with a former lover, a rescheduled honeymoon for a doctor and a black op nurse, a witness protection detail that goes awry and a blizzard that keeps a "bartender" and "waitress" from impending doom this has everything all wrapped up for the reader with a pretty bow. A definite must read.

4 Stories, 1 Mountain-Resort in Aspen - a whole lot of Nail-biting inducing Suspense & a healthy heaping of Heat.

Two of the four Authors were new to me, but are now going to have a Place on my Favorites-List.

i hope to get to see more of the Characters in these 4 Stories - because, the Authors wrote Characters you'll want to be Friends with.

Ladies (Anna Bishop Barker, Maddie Wade, Taryn Bradley, Freya Barker), thank you from the Bottom of my Heart for some Hours of extremly good Entertainment!

Snowbound!!
This is one serious action packed short story with everything I love about Ms. Barkers writing. Even though it’s a short it is definitely not lacking anything.
Bobbie saw something that put her in danger. Now there out to kill her.

Thrown together and on the run. Bobbie and Dax dodge danger and the elements.

“Oh, no. Don’t you dare tell me this isn’t the right time, or do I have to remind you that these may be our last moments alive?

Dax is trying to stay professional but instead he comes across grumpy and gruff. The longer there alone the more his shield cracks.

When I take her hand in mine, the disjointed feeling I’ve had for weeks is instantly replaced with a sense of balance, and I never want to let go again.

This is a series of short stories written by Taryn Bradley, Freya Barker, Anna Barker, and Maddie Wade. First off i do want to say that all proceeds from this book will be given to US military charities with physical and mental challenges. That in itself is a great thing that these wonderful authors are doing. Each of these stories are wonderful, they have a suspense, romance and each have a HEA. I highly recommend this book, I have read stories by Freya Barker and all of Maddie Wades but Taryn Bradley and Anna Barker were new to me and i have to say that I will be reading more from them. Great job ladies.

Snowbound

I loved Freya Barker's contribution of Snowbound. I have always thought it must be harder to write a short story, since you have to condense an extended time frame and build up into a relatively short number of pages.
Snowbound is the story of a middle aged woman who witnessed something and is being held in witness protection and guarded by US Marshalls. Their hiding place is compromised just as a personnel change is taking place and one marshall is shot. Dag, the silver haired hero, grabs Bobbie and runs. He borrows a cabin high on the mountain, not disclosing their location to anyone. There's been sparks flying between them for a while. She thinks he's rude and he's doing his best to be professional. Nothing like a snow storm and an avalanche to bring things to a head. When he calls for help they are once again discovered, but rescued at the last minute. His adult daughters help the romance along during recovery as we head toward an HEA. Ms. Barker has again displayed her mastery of writing believable characters caught in unusual circumstances.

Rafe and Lita

Mistletoe Protector is Maddie Wade's contribution to the Chill Factor Holiday Anthology. Rafe was spending Christmas at the St. James Resort as a favor to his childhood friend Dante Romano. They have known each other and been best friends since the age of 6. Raised in Bologna, Italy they left home at the age of 18 and joined the Marines. Now, Rafe works for Eidolon Security based in the UK. Dante called because he knows Rafe is the best at what he does. Rafe agrees to the protection detail when Dante asked. It involves a stalker and a rock star. When the "protectee" walks through the door, Rafe is shocked beyond words to see the one that left him heartbroken, choosing her career over loving him. He puts it all aside and steps up to do the job he is trained for, find whoever's after Lita and never lay eyes on her again. Fate has other plans. Danger is lurking and it's up to Rafe to make sure Lita stays alive and well. Can he keep her safe so they can have the HEA they deserve? Get this book ASAP and find out. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.

Cabin Fever by Anna Bishop Barker. A steamy hot chocolatey goodie. Fast paced, romantic suspense with a gratifying ending. All the other novellas are excellent reads, but this one alone is well worth your time spent reading. Grab this anthology of snowy Christmas goodness.

I wanna to go to the St James Resort and get in on all of the excitement. All of these novellas happen at the same time and the place sounds lovely.
Most of the characters are mature adults who have lived and have baggage and carry on with their crisis the best way possible and find their HEA. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and cozy up and read some excellent stories.

Cabin Fever by Anna Bishop Barker is a hot and suspenseful read. A handsome bartender and a beautiful waitress are living their life and getting closer when life gets in the way. Like an abusive criminal of an ex who is currently hunting her in the middle of a snowstorm.

Snowbound by Freya Barker is an exciting suspense filled novella. A beautiful sous-chef in Witness Protection Service custody is in even more danger when Russian mobsters find their safe house and she is on the run with a silent handsome agent. The two end up getting closer and opening up as danger looms.

Honeymoon on Ice by Taryn Bradley is a fantastic, suspenseful, funny action packed and steamy adventure. A couple are on their third attempt at a honeymoon and end up dealing with terrorist, snow, a great chef/shooter, a funny ski instructor, security teams and an avalanche or two.

Mistletoe Protector by Maddie Wade is a great, emotional, suspenseful second chance story. The K9 handler for s security firm is asked a favor from a friend. A big favor that puts him guarding a National rock star that happened to be the love of his life and walked out on him 10 years ago. She now has a stalker and things are getting dangerous. She’s hiding out at the resort and has to deal with this plus a nasty narcissistic manager, a snow storm, an avalanche, getting kidnapped and falling more in love with her reluctant ex.

Chill Factor, A Christmas Anthology, was soooo good! There was a great mix of hot romance and suspense in each and every of the four short stories. Two of the stories need more mention. “Snowbound”, although very good, left me wanting a little more. It was as if the author rushed to finish it as a “short story.” I would like to read more from this author. “Mistletoe Protector” by Maddie Wade was perfect! I’m a little prejudiced because I’ve read ALL her books! The fact that this story included Eidolon brought it home for me. For me it was a perfectly told short story. Reading Chill Factor has introduced me to three more great authors whose books I look for forward to reading. Very highly recommend this book!

This 4-story anthology is absolutely, perfectly, exactly what you want it to be. Sweet, sexy, suspenseful short stories taking place at the St. James Inn, an idyllic spot in Aspen. All four stories happen on over the same 3-say period, with intrigue and orgasms enough to survive a white-out storm and keep you guessing. When I finished each story, I declared, “I liked that one best!” And better yet, each story provides a window in the worlds where each of these sister scribes write and after this teaser, I can’t wait to dive into all the series.

Four exciting stories, each one unique to the author. Suspenseful, terrifying and all with a hea. Between stalkers, terrorists and avalanches honestly this is a rollercoaster of fear and happiness, I went from edge of my seat, nail biting to grining like a loon as I read through each story. The authors all did a fabulous job weaving sometimes complex plots into books that have Christmas and a ski resort all in common. Honestly if this happened for real and a resort had so many different threats going on at once I think the owners would sell up and go elsewhere. But despite all the characters go through the magic of Christmas and the romance still win out and I spent a lovely time emersed in reading. This was full of drama and love along with tons of snow. 4 exciting short stories in one book. Stand alone books but linked by location and timing as they all occur during the same storm at the resort. Will keep you gripped to the end of each, has the trifecta, romance, suspense and hea.

Has the ability to read one short story in your lunch break or binge all four overnight. (But I read fast so that's my standards)
You won't want to put it down.

Even though each story was short it was no less enthralling.

Very entertaining!
Considering it really is a shortie, Ms Barker packs it all in, makes it entertaining, with just the right amount of suspense...and heat!
As a witness to a murder, Bobbie is under protection, but things aren't following the script! Enter Dax, our hero, and man who was in love with Bobbie many years before. It's up to him to keep her safe and maybe find out where they went wrong all those years ago!
Loved it!

The Chill Factor Anthology is 4 short stories full of suspense and romance that take place in Colorado during a snow storm. I really enjoyed reading this and seeing the different situations that were taking place at the same time. I am a fan of Maddie Wade’s books but have never read anything from the other three authors. It was refreshing to do so and now I’m looking forward to reading some of their other books. The money raised from this anthology goes for a really good cause which makes it an even better reason to purchase.

The first novella in the anthology is "Cabin Fever" by Anna Bishop Barker. I've read all of Anna's previous books so I was looking forward to reading her contribution to this anthology. I must say, I wasn't disappointed! Although not a full length novel, "Cabin Fever" is filled from the first chapter to the last with all the romance, suspense, and action Anna's books are known for. Her characters are well developed, realistic, and in many instances broken in some way. In "Cabin Fever" we meet Dax, an alpha male who has seen the very worse in humanity and Lucy, a strong-willed female who has been through hell and back. Dax is an ex-cop working at Aspen's prestigious ski resort, St. James Inn as a bartender. Lucy is a waitress there on the run from her abusive, mega-rich ex-husband. However, Lucy is unaware that the resort is filled with high level security to keep her safe. That includes her coworker, Dax the bartender.

When things begin to go awry, Dax informs Lucy they need to separate but she doesn't take it well. When Dax tells her, "Humor me, Sunshine. Just play the damsel in distress for another hour, okay?" Lucy responds to him, "I've seen the movies, Dax. Things don't go well when the damsel and the knight split up." Neither one knows just how prophetic her words will turn out to be. You will have to get the anthology to read more!

Snowbound by Freya Barker
Holy cow! This story had me on the edge of my seat! I was hooked from the first word, and had actual anxiety at times! Dag, the sexy US Marshall, and Bobbie, the beautiful single lady/accidental witness to murder, end up hiding together in a remote cabin in the woods. This story I didn't see coming, but goodness was it fantastic!
I read all the amazing stories in this anthology and I happily give all of them 5 fantastic stars!

Get prepared for winter with this steamy and suspenseful collection of 4 short stories. I love Maddie Wade’s book. They are always fabulous. Her story, Mistletoe Protector, is a sexy second chance love story with a suspenseful plot. Can Rafe protect. Nix from her stalker and protect his heart at the same time? Cabin fever is a story about Dax and Lucy. Their relationship has been a slow building and culminates in a cabin with a sticky situation. They get some help from some old friends, and I couldn’t put this great story down. Snowbound was my first book by Freya Barker, and it definitely won’t be my last. Bobbie falls for a US Marshall that is protecting her until she testifies. Dag is fighting their explosive chemistry. Can they make their relationship work when the trial is over? Honeymoon on Ice is a fabulous story by Taryn Bradley. I will definitely read more of her stories. Riley and Dani’s honeymoon keeps being interrupted by terrorists. It looks like this tune won’t be any different. With help from a local security agency, they get the bad guys. It’s a fast page turner with a happily ever after.

It’s no secret romantic suspense is my ultimate favorite genre. And I’ve been a fan of Anna Bishop Barker’s writing since her very first book, Journey to Faithful. If you’re a romantic suspense lover, you really need to check out her books. I’ve also been a fan of Freya Barker’s for a while. Her PASS series is one of my current obsessions. So, I knew I was going to love at least half of this book going into it. Taryn Bradley and Maddie Wade are new-to-me authors, but after enjoying these novellas so much, I’ll be reading more of their works ASAP.

Chill Factor is an anthology of four interconnected novellas by these authors. The timeframe of each story is the same few days as the holidays approach. Kudos to all of the authors for writing their own stories well while seamlessly incorporating elements from the other ones. The stories are suspenseful, steamy, and full of action. It didn’t take long for each one to pull me in and have me frantically turning the pages. If you’re looking for a holiday-themed read with action, suspense, and steam, grab your hot chocolate and a cozy blanket and journey to a winter wonderland today.

Christmas time, a resort in Colorada, a snowstorm and two avalanches. That is the setting for these 4 novellas. From there, each of the writers takes us on a different journey. One has the hero and heroine working together for months but finding their passion too hard to fight when trapped together in a remote cabin, only to have to fight for their lives against a madman. The second features a witness and her protector fleeing from the mob. The third has a honeymooing couple become embroiled in a terrorist attack and the final one features old lovers finding a second chance when faced with a stalker. Each one is a short read with a satisfying HEA.

This is a great collection of action packed , romantic suspense filled stories.
While I enjoyed each book this review is for Snowbound by Freya Barker.

Bobbie and Dag are forced together one on one when the safe house she's been staying in has been breeched. They set out on a dangerous escape and find love along the way. The author brings drama and danger ,anxiety and fear along with the growing sexual tension., I enjoyed reading their story.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

I thoroughly enjoyed this entire set. My review is over Snowbound by Freya Barker. This was an edge of your seat read. Bobbie saw something she was not supposed to and was taken under protective custody by the US Marshall's. What happens when their dlsafe house is found and her life is threatened? She goes into hiding with the one protector who has been cold and aloof, great! As you deal with into this short story there is more to the story and rhe cold aloof protector starts breaking her barriers. I reviewed an early copy voluntarily.
