Robert Vaughan – TCWS Bk 7 – Judgement Day – Reviewed 11/4/21 – Read 11/2/21
Gid and Will find family members massacred, so they vow to make sure no one else dies!
The Crockett brothers are on their way to visit family members, planning to celebrate the fourth of July with good food and family, but they arrived too late to save any of them. Finding their cousin, her husband, and their two children all brutally massacred. After the funeral, they had a little talk with the Sheriff and learned that this was just like something that Kansas Charley Kellett and Felix Alvarado would do, and they had been seen in the area. Knowing that they worked better alone, they declined the sheriff’s offer to join the posse. Before they left the sheriff tossed them a couple of deputy badges to try to keep them out of trouble.
The boys followed the trail left by the outlaws right into New Mexico through some of the driest lands they had seen in a while. They were almost out of their water, but they knew that they would be coming up to the monastery before long as they had stopped in the past and had enjoyed their time with Padre Francisco. Arriving at the compound, which was surrounded by an adobe wall, Brother Miguel, opened the small window in the wall and demanded to know who they were. They knew by the way he acted meant that they had trouble in there so they accepted that they could not go inside and rode off.
Join Will and Gid as they chase down the killers with lots of trouble, and danger following them every step of the way…
What did I like? Robert sure has been a busy guy, here we are again, and as everyone knows the Crockett boys are among my favorite characters. This read was a very emotional one, anytime there is a family member that is killed it makes me cry, the fact is the boys have hardly anyone left now just like me. One thing is unquestionable, they sure put a lot of miles under their belt this time.
What will you like? Well darn, this is one emotional and exciting read. There is a little mystery, shootouts, crooks, some really cruel outlaws, and a ton of excitement. Robert certainly gave us some unusual characters in this one, and the storyline was excellent. Robert of course is a master with the descriptions, and the land around the men was filled with birds, animals, dry heat, no water, and lots of towns, dirty saloons, and interesting people. You won’t want to miss this read! Robert Vaughan's next book in the Crockett series, “Judgement Day” is available NOW!!!
