Another fun and exciting read from Ogden! A universe where the interstellar bridges provide a lifeline for billions of people. Hallam Knight is forced into a situation of doubts and trusts, to save humanity, must he join and believe the Darkspace Renegades and tear them all down, or is there a hidden agenda? The powerful and ruthless Consortium, “the epitome of capitalist greed”, is the one who controls all the market system, the one the protagonist must fight against, and his deadly, and cruel mercenaries with a penchant for torture and killings, bordering into an addiction. The dialogue is witty and humorous, with lovable rogues, snarky and funny villains, in spite of their cruelty I couldn’t resist having a good laugh at their expense for many of their absurd outcomes. The author kept the book moving at a fast pace with plenty of twists, shocking discoveries and many nerve shaking moments, an ending that made me wanting for more. I loved the constant adrenaline rush in this book. I highly recommend this series.
An enjoyable romp through space with some likable heroes and somewhat bloodthirsty villains. Only slight hiccup I saw was in book 5; There were some proof reading errors; mis-naming characters and an ignorance of the metric system, stating a building was a kilometre high then when someone fell from the top saying they fell a hundred metres! This didn't detract from the book but just tickled my OCD a little. Recommended for people who like good, well paced, proper SF. Can't wait to read more by this author.
This series is really just one long novel broken into large chapters and sub-chapters. It can hold the interest of even a jaded old man like me wo cut his teeth on Asimov and Heinlein. Ogden is certainly not the equal of those giants but his tale of conflict and redemption is well worth investing the time necessary to read.
Gripping stuff! The well threaded story line starts on page one, and keeps you guessing right to the last page. Some of the solutions to problems need a leap of faith to bring to reality, but nothing is really too far fetched. This is Sci-Fi after all, use that imagination. I really enjoyed this series and look forward to more of his work.
I wish the Sci fy channel would make a tv series from these books. The character development is fantastic. There are three factions in this story. the renegades are trying to save the galaxy, the mercenaries trying to stop them and the corporation trying to save their monopoly on interplanetary transport. The reader gets an in depth focus on the personalities of the major characters from all three factions. The story provides us with lots of action, adventure, some comedy and a touch of romance.
I took my time reading this because, after a while, it got a bit redundant. Heroes chase down prize to save the world, villian hates hero, standoff, hero escapes. Over and over again. In the end, villian sacrifices himself to save the world and becomes anti-hero. A story that could have been told in one or at most three books is stretched out to six.
I’ve been making my way through my Kindle Unlimited book supply and by far this is the best of the best. I could not put it down. Even when I woke from sleep in the middle of the night I would grab it and read until I fell asleep again. I have to wonder if I was actually waking up to do a bit more reading LOL!
In The Name Of The Sword🗡 A Knight🐺💪🗡🔫 in Space🚀💫. ADULT Science Fiction🚀💫👽 Epic Adventure in Six books📚 This is basically one very long book with the main characters violently fighting and defending themselves against criminals and traitors throughout space💫
I got this ebook series📚 from Amazon📚 with Kindle Unlimited
Intergalactic adventure with lots of action. Great characters with realistic situations and a storyline that will keep you turning pages. I look forward to more from this author.
I just read through all books in the series. Well written and far reaching. A lot of characters but the main players retain your focus. In the end… oops. Nearly gave it away. If you enjoyed Battle Star Galactica you’ll enjoy this.
This book starts out slow but once it gets started it never slowes down and the action keeps building and keeps you guessing what's going to happen next right up to the last page
Maybe Dark Space should be Good Space because the good guys won in the end. Real people, real interactions and a sweet ending to a space opera Lots of mayhem and a little love struck hero added up to a wonderful read!
Villains you love to hate, or love. Heroes who do awful things. A universe to save and bad guys with strong emotions letting personal goals prevent measures to save billions. Heaps of battles and well told stories of love and betrayal
The ending was a good twist but the continuing saga between Cad and our heroes was worn out. The evil embedded within Cad was difficult to accept. If one person can be that bad where is the balance in the world.
But it quite often doesn't have the immediacy the circumstances should. Glad i finished it, and it had some good moments. It could have been four hundred pages.
Didn't get too far in. Spent a bit too much time with the bad guy and some things that were supposed to be secrets were a bit too obvious.... and entirely improbable.
GJ Ogden is a storyteller! I was mesmerized and impressed by the wit, creativity and depth of this story. Amazing imagination and execution of sad story. Loved the good guys. Loved the fall and rise of the bad guy. I wish it didn’t have to end.
