Kidnapped: A True Story

Rate this book
When fifty-five rebels descended on Nick and violently pushed him into a car, he knew he might never survive this day. Guns were fired and screams filled the air. The threats of the rebels on Lorna’s cellphone: “Pick a coffin! We’re sending him back to you in a coffin!” With each phone call Nick made to her, she was painfully aware of the torture and beatings inflicted on him, while the rebels desperately tried to raise the ransom through the only way, they knew how, violence and impending death. “Please, help me! Help me! They are going to shoot me!”

Lorna was shattered by his desperate pleas while the negotiators continued their cat and mouse game over the ransom for her husband’s life. Fear wanted to devour them both alive as the hours turned to days. Both Nick and Lorna recount the traumatizing details of Nick’s abduction. Lorna frantically tries to remain strong for her three daughters and what she believes to be, her dying husband. Throughout, she was constantly confronted with a choice. The choice to believe the harsh reality in front of her, or the written Word of God.

Kidnapped is the gut-wrenching true story of a ten-day ordeal in which Nick fought for his life and sanity from one torturous moment to the next. Lorna on the other hand, was faced with a daily battle to keep her eyes fixed on her faith in Psalm 91, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Almighty” and “For He will command angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

Book: Kidnapped
Author: Lorna Greyling
Rating: 5/5

When I saw that this book is based on true events,a shiver went down my spine. It feels so unreal. My thoughts are with the author and other survivors (both emotional and physical) of this dreadful incident.

Lorna, mother of 3 and a wonderful partner to Nick, was shell shocked when she received a phone calling threatening her. They had kidnapped and was asking her for ransom. Nick's plea for help and the tedious task of keeping herself together tired her. This ruthless random calls lasted for 10 days. But one question, who survived?

I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book. It was gut wrenching and heart breaking. The author certainly poured her heart out into the pages. I went through so many emotions while reading this book.

This was certainly one huge read. Satisfied with the reading experience.

KIDNAPPED: A True Story is a pilgrimage into the heart, soul, and mind of two people who chose to trust God in one of the most traumatic seasons of their lives. It is truly engaging, easy to read, and worth sharing with friends. It will rapture you into the overwhelming events that spiraled Lorna Greyling and her family into an abyss of trauma and then out into a victorious overcoming. I am compelled to also suggest that you will find KIDNAPPED a beautiful love story of two people coming into a richer relationship with their savior, and with each other. The true story of this book declares the power of prayer, displays the joy of walking in the Spirit of God that supersedes our troubles, and encourages its readers to trust the Word of God in all circumstances. I absolutely give this book five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!

Powerful, raw, real,HOPE!!! Could not put it down.

This true story as told by Lorna and Nick of his kidnapping in Nigeria, touched the very core of my being. Expertly written as I could feel their pain, hearts cry, despondency, realness of Nicks agony at the hands of the kidnappers and at the same time the pain and devastation of Lorna, and the choices they individually made. A story of pain but ultimately hope! Highly recommended!!!
