Well this was a blast. Entertaining, totally bonkers, part travel romp through America, part spy mystery, part sci-fi, part low-key love story. You have to pay attention. I lost the plot (literally) a couple of times, but I was so entertained I kept reading and caught up again.

I will never look at corgis or Kate Middleton the same way again.

A young woman wants to meet with a customer, and instead she winds up with a stranger living inside her, fleeing gunfire with the stranger’s boyfriend by means of an alien form of transit.

That’s just the first chapter, and it’s funnier than it sounds.

Full disclosure: This is my literary agent’s debut novel, and if you know Jennie, you understand where all the humor comes from. It’s a wild road trip, as the book’s blurb says, with a thief, car chases, spies, a libertarian-owned cruise ship, and a very suspicious talking corgi. The thief is one of the good guys, by the way.

A lot of science fiction tropes and clichés get subverted, gently or hilariously. Much of Jennie’s job involves reading the best and worst of the genre, so she knows them well.

In the end, the book is humane. It’s filled with people and entities generally trying to help each other, although some are more competent and rational than others.

Fast action, fun dialogue, and uncommon characters. Recommended for anyone looking for humorous science fiction. There’s never enough of it.

I love a good road trip book, and a road trip with aliens is even better. And a road trip with aliens and corgis? I'm in. With a likeable heroine and personable aliens, Obviously, Aliens is a fun and funny read.

If you loved The X-Files, I think you will also enjoy this romp. It's more akin to one of the lighter episodes, you know, a "Jose Chung's From Outer Space," and the like. It's a borked road trip, it's a body-swap (kinda), it's a heroine named Dana...which can't influence this feeling at all, surely. If you're looking for fun, there's fun to be had! Aliens, spies, and corgis! What more could you want?

As you might surmise from the title, this book is about aliens. Its main character Dana gets caught up in the whole mess when she drinks the wrong soda and ends up possessed by a dead guy, whose boyfriend is adamant about getting him back. Dana just wants to be on time for her meeting with Rainbow Daydreams. The plot kind of jumps around, but that added to my enjoyment of the book, because you can pick up the thread again relatively easily.
This is definitely the sort of book that you read to have a break from the stupidity and depression of the world. Its summary mentions talking corgis, among other things - it’s not a serious book, which I especially appreciated considering the current state of the world. The pacing sometimes felt a bit fast, but that could just be that I sped through it. I liked the way people reacted to aliens in this book, because it felt pretty accurate in that people didn’t react favorably on the whole, but also their actions didn’t make me despair for the nature of humanity in that they could be persuaded to change their minds. I really enjoyed this, and I highly recommend it.

Wildly entertaining read. Obviously, Aliens is fun, funny and adventurous! You have Aliens (obviously), but you also have conspiracies that could easily have come from the pages of The National Enquirer. Couple all that with advanced technology, CAC and the scattered remains of a deceased (or not) international music sensation and you have all the ingredients for a wildly entertaining read (did I already say that?). Oh... and there's some evil, too. ENJOY!

What if you accidentally take a sip of the wrong drink in a rental car and you're suddenly sharing a body with a sweet man whose glowering hit man boyfriend is now very unhappy with you? Oh, and also ALIENS and tentacles and heists and spies and an Elvish-ish dead dad and his dozens of love children and road trips and secret government agencies and just trying to get along as a freelance artist? BONKERS, no thoughts, only fun ridiculousness!
