Bailey O'Keefe is excited about her first Christmas in Wyoming—until she's taken hostage by a homicidal bank robber. When he escapes from custody, his only goal is killing Bailey. Now her life depends on FBI negotiator Sean Hanson and his remote cabin on Cougar Mountain. But in the icy Wyoming wilderness, their relentless pursuer is the least perilous danger they face…
From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.
Great debut from a new voice in Love Inspired Suspense!
Despite the title, this is more of a wintery read rather than a holiday one. And brrrrrr but it's chilly setting and wilderness survival scenes begs to be paired with a cup of hot cocoa. And comfort marshmallows. :-)
I found it refreshing to read about a heroine who isn't all kick-butt savvy for a change. (Not that I don't like the strong, confidant, take charge heroine...but I've been meeting her a lot in the pages of my books so Bailey was a nice break.) She starts out very overwhelmed which is understandable since she was held at gunpoint in a bank heist! She's also hesitant, even timid when she's taken into protective custody which is so relatable! And I love how she grows in confidence as the story progresses. That's partly because of Sean's belief in her. He's an older (35 to her 25) somewhat jaded ex-FBI agent charged with keeping Bailey safe. Which proves quite the challenge thanks to the relentless pursuit of one escaped felon. Cue murder and mayhem and a wilderness chase!
And speaking of Sean...he has three brothers! All Wyoming ranchers sharing the family land on Cougar Mountain. Pretty please let this be the first in a series about the Hanson brothers! 'Cause I'm enamoured with them all!
From the first few pages, I knew this was going to be a 5 star read for me. I fell for the guy so quickly. Perfect trope of alpha male/former FBI agent, saving damsel in distress but is flawed and needs damsel in distress to help him come to terms with his past. I also loved the other 3 brothers which added a whole humorous family dynamic. They lead me to believe that there would be a sequel in the works for them as well. It really is rare to find a 5 star read that just fits what I wanted to read so perfectly.
This is my first book by this author, loved it. This story had a bank robber, blackmail, dirty cops, murder, attempted murder and destruction of property. Sean is a hostage negotiator who was called in to help negotiate with the bank robber. Bailey is one of the people begin held at gunpoint in the bank. To see what happens in this action packed book click to download you will be glad you did.
I really liked the characters in this book. I’m hoping this is the first book in a four book series about the amazing Hanson brothers. Thad, Levi and Blane need their stories to be told. This story is Sean’s story. He is a former FBI negotiator that gets pulled back into action trying to negotiate the release of a hostage during a bank robbery. Throughly enjoyed this book.
An engaging story. I enjoyed reading while reading, but if I had to put it down I did not feel compelled to pick it back up. The writing was a little oversimplified and I felt, toward the end, we were told more than shown their draw toward one another. Overall a good read and I would pick up another story from this author.
This is a Romantic Suspense. I really do not think this has any Christmas really at all, but it does have some winter parts to it. I loved the characters and all the action in this book. I enjoyed reading this book.
***Read for the Winter prompt for Romanceopoly(a book with a winter holiday).
Christmas was in the title of this book, but really, I may be cheating with this one as the holiday was only briefly mentioned in passing. It was more about the suspense as Sean saved Bailey from a bank robbery and they went on the run through the mountains and snow of a Wyoming winter. I loved how strong and honorable Sean was, and I felt awful for what happened to make him resign from the FBI. Bailey was a fun and strong heroine, with the determination to live life on her own terms after being really overprotected by her mother. She was really mature and relatable, and I loved how she stood up for Sean. I loved Sean's three brothers, too. They were all so supportive of one another, and they helped lighten the atmosphere of this action-packed story. I really enjoyed myself with this story. This is a Love Inspired Romantic Suspense, so if you don't like prayer in your stories, you may not wat to try this, but if you're fine with it, I think you'll like it. There's forced proximity, survival both of the elements and awful people, and the great relationship between Sean and Bailey.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Wyoming Christmas Peril. This is Kathie's first book for LIS but it's an excellent story. It's well-written, action-packed, and full of suspense. I know you are going to love it.
Bailey O'Keefe works at a bank. She agrees to work the first lunch hour for her friend and because of it, she is held in a hostage situation at the bank. She is forced to answer the phone and talk to the negotiator. He becomes her only lifeline. He has a calming soothing voice and helps her.
FBI Negotiator Sean Hanson has a history with this thief and he has every intention of taking him down. As he talks to the man through Bailey his is sure he can save her and capture him but the bank robber escapes. Sean takes Bailey to his cabin in the mountains to protect her. Can he keep her safe?
A terrifying journey to hide her and keep her safe from a cold-blooded killer. God has a plan for them a good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
I've read a lot of Love Inspired Suspense K-9 stories, with a brave dog on the cover, and I wondered when they will start one with the Feline unit. Finally ... wait - This cat isn't helping the good guys?
If, like me, you want an exciting story, this definitely qualifies. You want a villain to love to hate, you've got that. A romance that works through complications with interesting characters? That too.
I do have a mild criticism, and this is a mild spoiler. The cougar on the cover is also referred to on the back cover and the one page excerpt inside the front cover. That cat dominates two pages and that's all, and that is mid-book. I'll admit that was a minor disappointment. That doesn't diminish from the suspense in this story.
This was an exciting story, and I recommend this book.
Bailey O’Keefe switched lunch breaks with her co-worker not realizing that decision would change her life. A serial bank robber decides to rob the bank and she is a hostage. The robber is caught and it seems all is well until he escapes custody. Former FBI agent Sean Hanson is tasked with providing protection for her. While on the run for their lives they will learn a lot about each other and their past experiences. This is a fully action packed suspense book with forgiveness, love, family and inspiration mixed in. I love these Love Inspired books. They are always clean and uplifting as well as enjoyable!
Bailey thinks her time is up when she is caught in the crosshairs of a bank robber. Sean the negotiator helps her through the experience and then comes to her rescue again when the murderous robber escapes police custody. As the two try to elude the clutches of this mad man, they began to fall for each other. But is what they are feeling real? Or just their emotions getting the best of them in a highly charged situation? This story is well-paced and relies on faith to help them get through things. Looking forward to the next story in this series.
I really liked this book. I loved the descriptions of Wyoming and I loved Bailey. She was a smart and sassy heroine, who was chock-full of courage. Bailey's mother was so overprotective when she was growing up. It made my heart ache for her. Sean was a brave hero who who had some issues in his past to deal with. The relationship he had with his three brothers was so easy-going and believable, I can easily see them getting stories of their own. I loved the happily-ever-after and will be anticipating more books by this author, especially if they're about the Hanson brothers.
