DI Gardener #5

Imposition

Rate this book
A burglary, a murder, and a killer who wears a mask

A woman is found dead in her bed, badly beaten. Precious items are missing from the house, including a Fender Stratocaster guitar belonging to her husband.

Was it just a burglary gone wrong? Perhaps it is not a motive DI Stewart Gardener should be looking for, but a pattern. And he needs to get to the bottom of the mystery fast, before someone else is hurt.

The culprit is an impostor, wearing masks that DI Gardener and his team must peel off layer by layer. But Gardener is not alone searching for the killer. Someone else is seeking retribution. When their paths cross, will justice or revenge triumph?

Was it a burglary that went wrong which resulted in the death of Jane Carter. Was her death an accident or murder. And what of her husband Robbie. Is he as innocent as he declares. DI Stewart Gardener and his team investigate. A case which goes back many years.
An entertaining modern mystery. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.

Ray Clark has written a really compelling novel with Imposition. It starts with what appears to be a burglary - but there's a dead body too. Did the burglar commit the killing, or was it someone else - if so who?

Detectives unravel a trail of unexplained killings as they dig deeper and deeper into the mysterious personality at the centre of the crimes.

Difficult to put down - highly recommended.

Creepy!

I wasn’t quite sure where this was going. But it was one of those addictive books that you just had to keep on reading.
An absolutely fascinating storyline. Where the author gets all his ideas from, I haven’t a clue. It’s great to see Maurice back in it again! We like Maurice. A great read. Even if you worked out who the killer was, you wanted to know why and how he’s caught. Brilliant writing.

Really good series.

This latest book in the Gardner series is worth five stars. The crime is a puzzling one with not enough clues. Multiple suspects and grueling hours put in by the team of detectives presents a very realistic picture of the reality facing a murder detective. Great dialogue between the detectives and dry wit for comic relief. Recommend the entire series.

Another top read from Leeds author Ray Clark.

Detectives are hunting a serial killer, but will a vigilante get to him first?

A really gripping read. Even makes me want to read the rest of the series again.

Another great story

Another great story by Ray Clark in the D.I. Gardener series. Plenty of action and a story that has more twists and turns than a maze. Well written and a great climax.

A simple burglary, no, a murder, but by who?

Jane Carter is found dead by her husband Robbie, a burglary gone wrong? Someone is watching Robbie Carter.. Great investigating, by Gardner and Reilly.....and a secret observer

就是那个捂脸笑得表情特别符合这套书,真的很浮夸,也没有什么显著的黑点,还行。

Did not expect this!!

A superb follow on in this great series. Talk about twists and turns in this plot. Gardener and his team certainly have their work cut out trying to solve a burglary and murder in the same house.
A cleverly put together story as to be expected from Ray Clark. Next book in the series to read now.

Ray Clark can write one heck of a procedural. The plotting is just top notch. I really enjoyed this one, especially the Manfred subplot and it's inspired conclusion. But the whole thing was so wonderfully put together. I've been listening to these, and the narration is great, too.

Edited to add, you can borrow the digital editions on Kindle Unlimited! Which is awesome. They're a great find.
