The Vampire's Servant

Rate this book
For the last fifteen years, Victor Nightshade has been searching for his wayward childe, Paul Springer. Springer stole millions from him, then disappeared. The night finally arrives when Victor locates Springer, but he finds out something even worse. Springer has been feeding off of a minor for the last ten years. Victor vows to right this wrong and ensure that the girl is safe again. In doing so, he finds something that surprises even the most ancient of vampires.

Echo Gale has been feeding vampires for over half her life. Told by her parents that she's evil, Echo has lived a life of servitude for her family. Though her siblings love her, there wasn't much they could do to go against their parents. Instead, they did everything they could to make things easier and always told her how much they loved her to make up for their parents.

When Victor finds Echo, a chain of events begins that creates a bond neither thought possible. An instant connection neither one was prepared for. Things heat up in the second book of the Twisted Design Series.

Saw the description and was interested. It took a while to find the story, and it cost more than i really thought was worth on the dreame app. I didn't read the first book in the series, and i dont think it is necessary to understand this story. At most, I think it would have expanded on the supporting cast and given more detail about events mentioned in this book but ultimately would probably suffer from the same main issue I have with this novel.

The story was good for the most part. Had no issues with the poly or gender fluidity or any other progressive thing. Usually, vampire novels all have these kinds of troupes. I will say I didn't expect from the description that it would include so many descriptive sex scenes. I like a good erotic tale, but after a while, I got the feeling that instead of enhancing the story with the sex scenes, this story is just filler for the time where sex happens. The novel would be shorter but essentially unchanged if the scenes were implied or even omitted altogether.

I rather enjoyed the main storyline but felt the sex was too over the top and more of a focus than anything else. Would like to give 3.5 stars, but since I can't, this story earns 3 stars. Overall, it was too expensive and not widely available.

Love this series. Victor was exactly how I pictured him. Gray was a surprise that I loved. Echo is probably the sweetest character ever. But my favorite couple in this story turned out being Marius and Lila with Sean and Rosario coming in a close second. Great story.

A part of me hated this book and the other part loved it. I thought Echo was very selfish and Grey was very stupid in chapter 58.
It's very hard to watch the love of your life, be absolutely in love with someone else. Echo could feel that raw pain In Victor and yet she acted like he betrayed her. No one should have to share and I know is only fantasy but is to unrealistic even for fantasy. And I was ANGRY when Victor was shown his death, simply because he took a step back.
He should not have to go through that, during that stage, he practically scared Victor into being relationship with her.

If Echo really loved Victor, she would have accepted his decision and give him time to warm up to this new experience. She should have stayed with Grey and in time, both her and Victor will realise thier raw attraction and come together.

The way it was done, was childish. Not everyone must kiss Echo's feet, just because she is the main character. Yes it was new for her, but it's very new for Victor too. I have always been a wolf girl, but this book almost made me hate wolves. I don't think I can listen to chapter 60, my heart is braking for Victor; he deserves better.

VICTOR MY LOVE, I CAN BE YOUR TRUE MATE AND U WILL NOT SHEARE ME.😭😭😭😭

I was really enjoying this until I realized at about chapter 20 that there was going to be forced polyamory and I absolutely hate that. If everybody wants that ahead of time, I can live with it, but if one of the characters doesn't want to share and the MFC basically says "Too bad, share me or lose me!" I'm out. That's not a relationship or romance, that's having your cake and eating it too. Not only that, but Victor was the better character, so sad to see the story go this way.

It had such a strong start. The beginning was what drew me in the most. There was so much lost potential with the rest of the story. It felt like too many books and plot lines thrown into one. I really didn't like how
the mates thing went with the main characters. Overall, everything was good to read at least once, but not enough for me to purposely read it again. One major thing I appreciated, though, was that it's a sequel that doesn't require the first book to understand the story.

The concept is interesting. There's actually a good plot here, unfortunately it's layered in horribly written smut. I almost gave up finishing the book it got so bad at one point. When the story came back to the main plot line it was palpable.

This was one of the best books I have read. Thoroughly entertaining and kept me entertained. It was hard to put the book down and I even chose to read the book rather than sleep. I love the whole series and enjoy discovery each new character.

This book was a surprise to me. At first I was a bit sceptical about it. The beginning was a bit "nerve-wracking" to me. I was nervous about the MFL. But I am so glad I gave this book a chance, because I ended up loving it and wanting more! I like the writing style, the characters, the dialogues. 💜

Victor is a person on your side. Not only does he have "people" but he "knows" people. What he finds in this story is just an add on bonus to the likeability of his personality. #TeamVictor
